1. 1

   וַיְהִיAnd it came to passאַחֲרֵי־כֵןafter this,וַיַּעֲבֹרthat he passedמֵעִירfrom cityאֶל־עִירunto cityוּמִכְּפָרand from villageאֶל־כְּפָרunto village,קוֹרֵאproclaimingוּמְבַשֵּׂרand preaching good tidings ofאֶת־מַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וּשְׁנֵיםand the twoהֶעָשָׂרand tenאִתּוֹ׃were with him,

   And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

   וְנָשִׁיםand womenאֲשֶׁרwhoנִרְפְּאוּhad been healedמֵרוּחוֹתfrom spiritsרָעוֹתevilוּמֵחֳלָיִיםand from diseases:מִרְיָםMaryהַנִּקְרָאָהwho is calledמַגְדָּלִיתMagdalene,אֲשֶׁרfrom whomגֹּרְשׁוּwere driven outמִמֶּנָּהfrom herשִׁבְעָהsevenשֵׁדִים׃demons,

   And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

   וְיוֹחָנָהand Joannaאֵשֶׁתwife ofכּוּזָאChuzaסוֹכֵןsteward ofהוֹרְדוֹסHerod,וְשׁוֹשַׁנָּהand Susanna,וַאֲחֵרוֹתand othersרַבּוֹתmanyאֲשֶׁרwhoשֵׁרְתֻהוּministered unto himמִנִּכְסֵיהֶן׃from their possessions.

   And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

   וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְּהִתְאַסֵּףwhen gatheredהֲמוֹןa multitude ofעַם־רָבa great peopleאֲשֶׁרwhoיָצְאוּwent outאֵלָיוunto himמִכׇּל־עִירfrom every cityוָעִירand city,וַיְדַבֵּרthat he spakeבְּמָשָׁל׃in a parable:

   And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:

   הַזּוֹרֵעַThe sowerיָצָאwent outלִזְרֹעַto sowאֶת־זַרְעוֹhis seed;וּבְזָרְעוֹand as he sowed,נָפַלfellמִן־הַזֶּרַעsome of the seedעַל־יַדbesideהַדָּרֶךְthe way,וַיֵּרָמֵסand was trodden down,וַיֹּאכְלֻהוּand ate it upעוֹףthe fowl ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃the heavens.

   A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6. 6

   וְיֵשׁAnd there was thatאֲשֶׁרwhichנָפַלfellעַל־הַסָּלַעupon the rock,וַיִּצְמַחand it sprouted,וַיִּיבַשׁand withered,כִּיbecauseלֹאnotהָיְתָה־לּוֹthere was to itלֵחָה׃moisture.

   And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

7. 7

   וְיֵשׁAnd there was thatאֲשֶׁרwhichנָפַלfellבְּתוֹךְamongהַקֹּצִיםthe thorns,וַיִּצְמְחוּand sproutedהַקֹּצִיםthe thornsעִמּוֹwith itוַיְמָעֲכֻהוּ׃and choked it.

   And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

8. 8

   וְיֵשׁAnd there was thatאֲשֶׁרwhichנָפַלfellעַל־הָאֲדָמָהupon the soilהַטּוֹבָהthe good,וַיִּצְמַחand sprouted,וַיַּעַשׂand producedפְּרִיfruit,מֵאָהa hundredשְׁעָרִיםmeasures.וַיְכַלAnd when he had finishedלְדַבֵּרspeaking,וַיִּקְרָאhe called out,מִיWhoeverאֲשֶׁרhasאׇזְנַיִםearsלוֹto himלִשְׁמֹעַto hear,יִשְׁמָע׃let him hear.

   And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9. 9

   וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּAnd asked himתַלְמִידָיוhis disciples,לֵאמֹרsaying,מָהWhat isהַמָּשָׁלthe parableהַזֶּה׃this?

   And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמַרAnd he said,לָכֶםUnto youנִתַּןis givenלָדַעַתto knowאֶת־סוֹדוֹתthe secrets ofמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וְלָאֲחֵרִיםbut unto the othersבִּמְשָׁלִיםin parables,לְמַעַןthatבִּרְאֹתָםseeingלֹאnotיִרְאוּthey shall see,וּבְשָׁמְעָםand hearingלֹאnotיָבִינוּ׃they shall understand.

    And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

11. 11

    וְזֶהAnd thisהוּאisהַמָּשָׁלthe parable:הַזֶּרַעThe seedהוּאisדְּבַר־אֱלֹהִים׃the word of God.

    Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12. 12

    וַאֲשֶׁרAnd they that areעַל־יַדbesideהַדֶּרֶךְthe wayהֵםareהַשֹּׁמְעִיםthey who hear;וְאַחַר־כֵּןthen afterwardsבָּאcomesהַשָּׂטָןthe adversaryוְנֹשֵׂאand takes awayאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordמִלִּבָּםfrom their heart,פֶּן־יַאֲמִינוּlest they believeוְנוֹשָׁעוּ׃and be saved.

    Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13. 13

    וַאֲשֶׁרAnd they thatעַל־הַסֶּלַעfell upon the rockהֵםareהַשֹּׁמְעִיםthey who hearאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordוּמְקַבְּלִיםand receive itבְּשִׂמְחָהwith joy;וְשֹׁרֶשׁbut rootאֵיןthere is noneלָהֶםto them,רַקonlyלְשָׁעָהfor an hourמַאֲמִינִיםdo they believe,וּבְעֵתand in the time ofהַנִּסָּיוֹןthe testingיִסֹּגוּthey turnאָחוֹר׃back.

    They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

14. 14

    וַאֲשֶׁרAnd that whichנָפַלfellבֵּיןamongהַקֹּצִיםthe thorns,הֵםtheyהַשֹּׁמְעִיםthat hear,וְהוֹלְכִיםbut as they goלָהֶםtheir way,וַיָּמֹכּוּthey sinkוְדַאֲגוֹתand the cares ofהָעוֹלָםthe world,וְעׇשְׁרוֹand its riches,וְתַאֲוֹתָיוand its desiresיְבַלְּעוּswallow upאֹתָםthem,וּפְרִיand fruitלֹא־יְשַׁוּוּthey bring forth notלָמוֹ׃unto them.

    And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

15. 15

    וַאֲשֶׁרBut that whichבָּאֲדָמָהfell in the soilהַטּוֹבָהgood,הֵםare theyהַשֹּׁמְרִיםthat keepאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁמְעוּthey have heardבְּלֵבwith a heartטוֹבgoodוְטָהוֹרand pure,וְעֹשִׂיםand bring forthפְּרִיfruitבְּתוֹחָלֶת׃in patience.

    But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

16. 16

    וְאֵין־אִישׁAnd there is no manמַדְלִיקwho kindlesנֵרa lampוּמְכַסֶּהand coversאוֹתוֹitבִּכְלִיwith a vessel,וְלֹאand notיְשִׂימֵהוּdoes he set itתַּחַתunderהַמִּטָּהthe bed,כִּיbutעַל־הַמְּנוֹרָהupon the lampstandיַעֲלֵהוּhe sets it,לְמַעַןthatיִרְאוּmay seeכׇּל־בָּאֵיall who enterהַבַּיִתthe houseאֶת־הָאוֹר׃the light.

    No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

17. 17

    כִּיForאֵין־דָּבָרthere is no thingסָתוּםhiddenאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotיִגָּלֶהshall be revealed,וְאֵיןand there is nothingגָּנוּזconcealedאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotיִוָּדַעshall be made knownוְיָצָאand comeלָאוֹר׃to light.

    For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

18. 18

    לָכֵןThereforeרְאוּtake heedאֵיךְhowתִּשְׁמָעוּןyou hearken;כִּיforכׇל־אֲשֶׁרwhoeverיֶשׁ־לוֹhas aught,נָתוֹןcertainlyיִנָּתֵןshall be givenלוֹunto him,וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand whoeverאֵיןhathיֶשׁ־לוֹnot,גַּםevenאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichהוּאheחשֵׁבthinksלִהְיוֹתto beלוֹhisיֻקַּחshall be takenמִמֶּנּוּ׃from him.

    Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

19. 19

    וַיָּבֹאוּAnd cameאֵלָיוunto himאִמּוֹhis motherוְאֶחָיוand his brothers,וְלֹאand notיָכְלוּwere they ableלָגֶשֶׁתto draw nearאֵלָיוunto himמִפְּנֵיbecause ofהָעָם׃the people.

    Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

20. 20

    וַיֻּגַּד־לוֹAnd it was told him,לֵאמֹרsaying,אִמְּךָYour motherוְאַחֶיךָand your brothersעֹמְדִיםare standingבַּחוּץoutside,וְהֵםand theyחֲפֵצִיםdesireלִרְאוֹתֶךָ׃to see you.

    And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

21. 21

    וַיַּעַןAnd he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אֵלֶּהTheseהֵםareאִמִּיmy motherוְאֶחָיand my brothers,הַשֹּׁמְעִיםthey that hearאֵת־דְּבַרthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodוְעֹשִׂים׃and do it.

    And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

22. 22

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passהַיּוֹםone day,וַיֵּרֶדthat he went downאֶל־אֳנִיָּהinto a ship,הוּאheוְתַלְמִידָיוand his disciples,וַיֹּאמֶרand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,נַעְבְּרָהLet us pass overאֶל־עֵבֶרto the other side ofהַיָּםthe sea;וַיָּשׁוּטוּand they sailedהַיָּמָּה׃upon the sea.

    Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְּלֶכְתָּםwhile they were goingבׇּאֳנִיָּהin the ship,וַיִּשְׁכַּבthat he lay downוַיִּישָׁןand slept;וְרוּחַand a windסְעָרָהstormyיָרְדָהdescendedעַל־הַיָּםupon the sea,וַיִּשְׁטְפוּand overflowedעֲלֵיהֶםupon themהַמַּיִםthe waters,וַיִּהְיוּand they wereבְסַכָּנָה׃in danger.

    But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24. 24

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּAnd they drew nearוַיָּעִירוּand awakenedאוֹתוֹhim,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,מוֹרֶהMaster,מוֹרֶהMaster,אָבָדְנוּwe are perishing.וַיֵּעוֹרAnd he awokeוַיִּגְעַרand rebukedבָּרוּחַthe windוּבְמִשְׁבְּרֵי־יָםand the waves of the sea,וַיִּשְׁתְּקוּand they ceased,וַתְּהִיand there wasדְמָמָה׃stillness.

    And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אַיֵּהWhere isאֱמוּנַתְכֶםyour faith?וַיִּירְאוּAnd they fearedוַיִּתְמְהוּand marvelled,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,אִישׁeach manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּunto his fellow,מִיWhoאֵפוֹאthenהוּאis he,הַמְצַוֶּהthat commandethגַּם־אֶת־הָרוּחוֹתeven the windsוְאֶת־הַמַּיִםand the waters,וְשָׁמְעוּand they obeyלוֹ׃him?

    And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

26. 26

    וַיַּעַבְרוּAnd they crossed overוַיָּבֹאוּand they cameאֶל־אֶרֶץunto the land ofהַגַּדְרִיִּיםthe Gadarenes,אֲשֶׁרwhichמִמּוּלis oppositeהַגָּלִיל׃the Galilee.

    And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

27. 27

    וַיַּעַלAnd he went upאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁהunto the dry land,וַיִּפְגְּשֵׁהוּand met himאִישׁa manיֹצֵאcoming forthמִןfromהָעִירthe city,אֲשֶׁרwhoשֵׁדִיםhad demonsבּוֹin himמִיָּמִיםfrom daysרַבִּיםmany,וּבֶגֶדand clothingלֹאnotלָבַשׁdid he wear,וּבְבַיִתand in a houseלֹאnotיָשַׁבdid he dwell,כִּיbutאִםratherבַּקְּבָרִים׃in the tombs.

    And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

28. 28

    וַיַּרְאAnd he sawאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַJesus,וַיִּפֹּלand fellלְפָנָיוbefore him,וַיִּקְרָאand cried outבְּקוֹלwith a voiceגָּדוֹלloud,מַה־לִּיWhat to meוָלָךְand to you,יֵשׁוּעַJesus,בֶּן־אֵלSon of GodעֶלְיוֹןMost High?מְבַקֵּשׁI beseech,אֲנִיI,מִמְּךָof you,אֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotתְעַנֵּנִי׃you tormentest me.

    When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

29. 29

    כִּיForהוּאheצִוָּהcommandedאֶת־הָרוּחַthe spiritהַטָּמֵאuncleanלָצֵאתto come outמִן־הָאִישׁfrom the man;כִּיforיָמִיםdaysרַבִּיםmanyתָּפַשׂit had seizedבּוֹhim,וַיֵּאָסֵרand he was boundבַּזִּיקִיםwith fettersוַיִּשָּׁמֵרand was keptבַּכְּבָלִיםin chains,וְהָיָהand it came to passכִּיthatיְנַתֵּקhe would breakאֶת־הַמּוֹסֵרוֹתthe bonds,וְנִדַּחand was drivenבְּיַדby the hand ofהַשֵּׁדthe demonאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּרוֹת׃into the wildernesses.

    (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

30. 30

    וַיִּשְׁאַלAnd askedאֹתוֹhimיֵשׁוּעַJesus,לֵאמֹרsaying,מַה־שְּׁמֶךָWhat is your name?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he said,לִגְיוֹןLegionשְׁמִיis my name,כִּי־שֵׁדִיםfor demonsרַבִּיםmanyנִכְנְסוּhad enteredבוֹ׃into him.

    And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

31. 31

    וַיִּתְחַנֲנוּAnd they besoughtלוֹhimלְבִלְתִּיnotצַוֹּתto commandאֹתָםthemלָרֶדֶתto go downאֶל־הַתְּהוֹם׃into the deep.

    And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

32. 32

    וְשָׁםAnd thereעֵדֶרwas a herd ofחֲזִירִיםswineרַבִּיםmanyרֹעֶהgrazingבָהָרupon the mountain;וַיִּתְחַנֲנוּand they besoughtלוֹhimלְהַנִּיחַto allowלָהֶםthemלָבוֹאto enterבְתוֹכָםinto them,וַיַּנַּחand he allowedלָהֶם׃them.

    And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

33. 33

    וַיֵּצְאוּAnd went forthהַשֵּׁדִיםthe demonsמִן־הָאָדָםfrom the manהַהוּאthat,וַיָּבֹאוּand enteredבַּחֲזִירִיםinto the swine,וַיִּשְׂתָּעֵרand stormedהָעֵדֶרthe herdמִן־הַמּוֹרָדdown the slopeאֶל־הַיָּםinto the sea,וַיִּטְבָּע׃and was drowned.

    Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

34. 34

    וְהָרֹעִיםAnd the herdsmenרָאוּsawאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatנַעֲשָׂהwas done,וַיָּנוּסוּand fled,וַיַּגִּידוּand toldהַדָּבָרthe matterבָּעִירin the cityוּבַכְּפָרִים׃and in the villages.

    When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

35. 35

    וַיֵּצְאוּAnd they went outלִרְאֹתto seeאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatנַעֲשָׂהwas done,וַיָּבֹאוּand they cameאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַunto Jesus,וַיִּמְצְאוּ־שָׁםand they found thereאֶת־הָאָדָםthe manאֲשֶׁרfrom whomיָצְאוּhad gone outמִמֶּנּוּfrom himהַשֵּׁדִיםthe demons,וְהוּאand heיֹשֵׁבwas sittingלְרַגְלֵיat the feet ofיֵשׁוּעַJesus,מְלֻבָּשׁclothed inבְּגָדִיםgarmentsוְטוֹב־שֵׂכֶלand of sound mind,וַיִּירָאוּ׃and they feared.

    Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

36. 36

    וַיַּגִּידוּAnd declaredלָהֶםunto themהָרֹאִיםthose who sawאֵיךְhowנִרְפָּאwas healedאֲחוּזhe that was seized byהַשֵּׁדִים׃the demons.

    They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

37. 37

    וַיְבַקְשׁוּAnd askedמִמֶּנּוּof himכׇּל־הֲמוֹןall the multitude ofחֶבֶלthe region ofהַגַּדְרִיִּיםthe Gadarenesלָלֶכֶתto departמֵאִתָּםfrom them,כִּי־אֵימָהfor terrorגְדוֹלָהgreatנָפְלָהfellעֲלֵיהֶםupon them;וַיֵּרֶדand he went downבׇּאֳנִיָּהinto the shipוַיָּשֹׁב׃and returned.

    Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

38. 38

    וַיְבַקֵּשׁAnd askedמִמֶּנּוּof himהָאִישׁthe manאֲשֶׁרfrom whomיָצְאוּhad gone outמִמֶּנּוּfrom himהַשֵּׁדִיםthe demonsלָשֶׁבֶתto remainאִתּוֹwith him;וַיְשַׁלַּחbut sent awayאֹתוֹhimיֵשׁוּעַJesus,וַיֹּאמַר׃saying,

    Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39. 39

    שׁוּבReturnלְבֵיתְךָunto your house,וְסַפֵּרand recountהַגְּדֹלוֹתthe great thingsאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂה־לְךָhath done unto youהָאֱלֹהִיםGod.וַיֵּלֶךְAnd he wentלוֹhis way,וַיַּשְׁמַעand proclaimedבְּכׇל־הָעִירin all the cityאֶת־הַגְּדֹלוֹתthe great thingsאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂה־לוֹhad done unto himיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus.

    Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

40. 40

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְּשׁוּבwhen returnedיֵשׁוּעַJesus,וַיְקַבֵּלthat receivedאֹתוֹhimהָעָםthe people,כִּיforכֻלָּםall of themהָיוּwereמְחַכִּיםawaitingלוֹ׃him.

    And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

41. 41

    וְהִנֵּהAnd behold,אִישׁa man,וּשְׁמוֹwhose name wasיָאִירJair,וְהוּאand he wasרֹאשׁhead ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe synagogue,וַיָּבֹאand he cameוַיִּפֹּלand fellלְרַגְלֵיat the feet ofיֵשׁוּעַJesus,וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־לוֹand besought himלָבוֹאto comeאִתּוֹwith himאֶל־בֵּיתוֹ׃unto his house;

    And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

42. 42

    כִּיforבַּתa daughterיְחִידָהonlyלוֹwas unto himכְּבַתof aboutשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהtwelveשָׁנָהyears,וְהִיאand sheנָטְתָהwas incliningלָמוּתunto death.וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְּלֶכְתּוֹas he wentשָׁמָּהthere,וַיִּדְחָקֻהוּthat pressed against himהֲמוֹןthe multitude ofהָעָם׃the people.

    For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43. 43

    וְאִשָּׁהAnd a womanזָבַתhaving flow ofדָּםbloodשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהtwelveשָׁנָהyears,אֲשֶׁרwhoהוֹצִיאָהhad spentכׇל־מִחְיָתָהּall her livelihoodלָרֹפְאִיםon the physicians,וְאֵיןand there was noאִישׁmanיָכֹלableלְרַפֹּאתָהּ׃to heal her,

    And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44. 44

    הִיאsheקׇרְבָהdrew nearמֵאַחֲרָיוfrom behind him,וַתִּגַּעand touchedבִּכְנַףthe corner ofבִּגְדוֹhis garment;וַיַּעֲמֹדand stoppedזוֹבthe flow ofדָּמֶיהָher bloodפִּתְאֹם׃suddenly.

    Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45. 45

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidיֵשׁוּעַJesus,מִי־זֶהWho is thisנָגַע־בִּיthat touched me?וַיְכַחֲשׁוּAnd they denied,כֻלָּםall of them,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוְהָעֹמְדִיםand they who stoodאֶצְלוֹbeside him,מוֹרֶהMaster,הֲמוֹןthe multitude ofהָעָםthe peopleדֹּחֲקִיםis pressingוְלֹחֲצִיםand crowdingאֹתְךָyou,וְאַתָּהand youתֹאמַרsayest,מִיWhoנָגַעtouchedבִּי׃me?

    And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46. 46

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidיֵשׁוּעַJesus,נָגַעTouchedבִּיmeאָדָםsomeone,כִּיforיָדַעְתִּיI knowאֲשֶׁרthatיָצְאָהhas gone outמִמֶּנִּיfrom meגְּבוּרָה׃power.

    And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47. 47

    וַתֵּרֶאAnd sawהָאִשָּׁהthe womanכִּיthatלֹא־נִסְתְּרָהshe was not hiddenמִמֶּנּוּfrom him,וַתִּגַּשׁand she drew nearבַּחֲרָדָהwith trembling,וַתִּפֹּלand fellלְפָנָיוbefore him,וַתַּגֵּדand declaredבְּאׇזְנֵיin the ears ofכׇל־הָעָםall the peopleעַל־מֶהfor what causeנָגְעָהshe had touchedבּוֹhim,וְאֵתandאֲשֶׁרhowנִרְפְּאָהshe had been healedפִּתְאֹם׃suddenly.

    And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48. 48

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֵלֶיהָunto her,חִזְקִיBe strong,בִּתִּיmy daughter,אֱמוּנָתֵךְyour faithהוֹשִׁיעָהhath savedלָּךְyou;לְכִיgoלְשָׁלוֹם׃unto peace.

    And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

49. 49

    עוֹדֶנּוּWhile he stillמְדַבֵּרwas speaking,וְאִישׁa manבָּאcameמִבֵּיתfrom the house ofרֹאשׁthe head ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe synagogue,וַיֹּאמַרand said,מֵתָהDead isבִתְּךָyour daughter,אַל־תַּטְרִיחַdo not troubleאֶת־הַמּוֹרֶה׃the teacher.

    While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50. 50

    וַיִּשְׁמַעAnd heardיֵשׁוּעַJesus,וַיַּעַןand answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹunto him,אַל־תִּירָאFear not,רַק־הַאֲמֵןonly believe,וְהִיאand sheתִוָּשֵׁעַ׃shall be saved.

    But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

51. 51

    וַיָּבֹאAnd he cameהַבַּיְתָהinto the house,וְלֹא־הִנִּיחַand he allowed notלְאִישׁany manלָבוֹאto comeאִתּוֹwith him,בִּלְתִּיexceptלְפֶטְרוֹסPeterוּלְיַעֲקֹבand Jamesוּלְיוֹחָנָןand John,וְלַאֲבִיand the father ofהַיַּלְדָּהthe girlוּלְאִמָּהּ׃and her mother.

    And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52. 52

    וְכֻלָּםAnd all of themבֹּכִיםwere weepingוְסֹפְדִיםand mourningלָהּfor her;וַיֹּאמֶרand he said,אַל־תִּבְכּוּWeep not,כִּיforלֹאnotמֵתָהis she dead,אַךְ־יְשֵׁנָהbut sleepingהִיא׃is she.

    And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

53. 53

    וַיִּשְׂחֲקוּAnd they laughedעָלָיוat him,בַּאֲשֶׁרbecauseיָדְעוּthey knewכִּי־מֵתָה׃that she was dead.

    And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54. 54

    וְהוּאAnd heאָחַזtook holdבְּיָדָהּof her hand,וַיִּקְרָאand called,וַיֹּאמַרand said,הַיַּלְדָּהGirl,קוּמִי׃arise.

    And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55. 55

    וַתָּשׇׁבAnd returnedרוּחָהּher spirit,וַתָּקׇםand she aroseפִּתְאֹםsuddenly;וַיְצַוand he commandedלָתֶת־לָהּto give unto herלֶאֱכוֹל׃to eat.

    And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

56. 56

    וַיִּתְמְהוּAnd marvelledאָבִיהָher fatherוְאִמָּהּand her mother;וַיְצַוand he commandedעֲלֵיהֶםupon themלְבִלְתִּיnotהַגִּידto tellלְאִישׁunto any manאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichנַעֲשָׂה׃was done.

    And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
