   And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

   And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּהִתְאַסֵּףbe/hit/as/SEFwhen gatheredהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעַם־רָבam-ravmany peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָצְאוּya/tse/Uwent outאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמִכׇּל־עִירmik/KOL-irfrom every cityוָעִירva/IRand cityוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERhe spokeבְּמָשָׁל׃be/ma/SHALin a parable

   And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:

   הַזּוֹרֵעַhaz/zo/RE/athe sowerיָצָאya/TSAwent outלִזְרֹעַliz/RO/ato sowאֶת־זַרְעוֹet-zar/Ohis seedוּבְזָרְעוֹu/ve/za/re/Oand as he sowedנָפַלna/FALfellמִן־הַזֶּרַעmin-haz/ZE/rasome of the seedעַל־יַדal-yadbesideהַדָּרֶךְhad/DA/rekhthe roadוַיֵּרָמֵסvay/ye/ra/MESand was trodden downוַיֹּאכְלֻהוּvay/yo/khe/LU/huand ate itעוֹףofthe birds ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavens

   A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

   וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there was someאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָפַלna/FALfellעַל־הַסָּלַעal-has/SA/laupon the rockוַיִּצְמַחvay/yits/MACHand it sproutedוַיִּיבַשׁvay/yi/VASHand witheredכִּיkiforלֹאlonotהָיְתָה־לּוֹha/ye/TA-lothere was to itלֵחָה׃le/CHAmoisture

   And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

   וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there was someאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָפַלna/FALfellבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongהַקֹּצִיםhak/ko/TSIMthe thornsוַיִּצְמְחוּvay/yits/me/CHUand sproutedהַקֹּצִיםhak/ko/TSIMthe thornsעִמּוֹim/MOwith itוַיְמָעֲכֻהוּ׃vay/ma/a/khu/HUand choked it

   And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

   וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there was someאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָפַלna/FALfellעַל־הָאֲדָמָהal-ha/a/da/MAupon the soilהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAthe goodוַיִּצְמַחvay/yits/MACHand sproutedוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand producedפְּרִיpe/RIfruitמֵאָהme/Aa hundredשְׁעָרִיםshe/a/RIMmeasuresוַיְכַלvay/KHALand when he had finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAhe called outמִיmiwhoeverאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאׇזְנַיִםoz/NA/yimearsלוֹlohasלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearיִשְׁמָע׃yish/MAlet him hear

   And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

   וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּvay/yish/a/lu/HUand asked himתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhat isהַמָּשָׁלham/ma/SHALthe parableהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

    וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand he saidלָכֶםla/KHEMto youנִתַּןnit/TANis givenלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֶת־סוֹדוֹתet-so/DOTthe secrets ofמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְלָאֲחֵרִיםve/la/a/che/RIMbut to the othersבִּמְשָׁלִיםbim/sha/LIMin parablesלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatבִּרְאֹתָםbir/o/TAMseeingלֹאlonotיִרְאוּyir/Uthey will seeוּבְשָׁמְעָםu/ve/sha/me/AMand hearingלֹאlonotיָבִינוּ׃ya/VI/nuthey will understand

    And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

    וְזֶהve/ZEand thisהוּאhuisהַמָּשָׁלham/ma/SHALthe parableהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedהוּאhuisדְּבַר־אֱלֹהִים׃de/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of God

    Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand thoseעַל־יַדal-yadbesideהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe roadהֵםhemareהַשֹּׁמְעִיםhash/shom/IMthose who hearוְאַחַר־כֵּןve/a/CHAR-kenand afterwardבָּאbacomesהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanוְנֹשֵׂאve/no/SEand takesאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordמִלִּבָּםmil/lib/BAMfrom their heartפֶּן־יַאֲמִינוּpen-ya/a/MI/nulest they believeוְנוֹשָׁעוּ׃ve/no/sha/Uand be saved

    Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand thoseעַל־הַסֶּלַעal-has/SE/laon the rockהֵםhemareהַשֹּׁמְעִיםhash/shom/IMthey who hearאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordוּמְקַבְּלִיםu/me/kab/be/LIMand receiveבְּשִׂמְחָהbe/sim/CHAwith joyוְשֹׁרֶשׁve/SHO/reshbut rootאֵיןenthere is notלָהֶםla/HEMto themרַקrakonlyלְשָׁעָהle/sha/Afor an hourמַאֲמִינִיםma/a/mi/NIMthey believeוּבְעֵתu/ve/ETand in the time ofהַנִּסָּיוֹןhan/nis/sa/YONtestingיִסֹּגוּyis/SO/guthey turnאָחוֹר׃a/CHORback

    They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatנָפַלna/FALfellבֵּיןbenamongהַקֹּצִיםhak/ko/TSIMthe thornsהֵםhemthey areהַשֹּׁמְעִיםhash/shom/IMwho hearוְהוֹלְכִיםve/hol/KHIMand goingלָהֶםla/HEMtheir wayוַיָּמֹכּוּvay/ya/MOK/kuthey sinkוְדַאֲגוֹתve/da/a/GOTand the cares ofהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldוְעׇשְׁרוֹve/osh/ROand its richesוְתַאֲוֹתָיוve/ta/a/vo/TAYVand its desiresיְבַלְּעוּye/val/le/Uswallow upאֹתָםo/TAMthemוּפְרִיu/fe/RIand fruitלֹאlonotיַבְשִׁילוּ׃yav/shi/LUthey bring to perfection

    And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatבָּאֲדָמָהba/a/da/MAin the soilהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodהֵםhemare theyהַשֹּׁמְרִיםhash/shom/RIMwho keepאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey have heardבְּלֵבbe/LEVwith a heartטוֹבtovgoodוְטָהוֹרve/ta/HORand pureוְעֹשִׂיםve/o/SIMand makeפְּרִיpe/RIfruitבְּאֹרֶךְbe/O/rekhwith the length ofרוּחַ׃RU/achspirit

    But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

16. 16

    וְאֵין־אִישׁve/EN-ishand no manמַדְלִיקmad/LIKwho kindlesנֵרnera lampוּמְכַסֶּהu/me/khas/SEand coversאוֹתוֹo/TOitבִּכְלִיbikh/LIwith a vesselוְלֹאve/LOand notיְשִׂימֵהוּye/si/me/HUputs itתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַמִּטָּהham/mit/TAthe bedכִּיkibutעַל־הַמְּנוֹרָהal-ham/me/no/RAupon the lampstandיַעֲלֵהוּya/a/le/HUhe sets it upלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִרְאוּyir/Umay seeכׇּל־בָּאֵיkol-ba/Eall who enterהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseאֶת־הָאוֹר׃et-ha/ORthe light

    No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

17. 17

    כִּיkiforאֵין־דָּבָרen-da/VARthere is no thingסָתוּםsa/TUMhiddenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִגָּלֶהyig/ga/LEwill be revealedוְאֵיןve/ENand nothingגָּנוּזga/NUZconcealedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAwill be knownוְיָצָאve/ya/TSAand come outלָאוֹר׃la/ORto light

    For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

18. 18

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeרְאוּre/Useeאֵיךְekhhowתִּשְׁמָעוּןtish/ma/UNyou listenכִּיkiforכׇל־אֲשֶׁרkhol-a/SHERwhoeverיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasנָתוֹןna/TONgiveיִנָּתֵןyin/na/TENwill be givenלוֹloto himוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whoeverאֵיןennotיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasגַּםgamevenאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthat whichהוּאhuheחֹשֵׁבcho/SHEVthinksלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלוֹlohisיֻקַּחyuk/KACHwill be takenמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nufrom him

    Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

19. 19

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brothersוְלֹאve/LOand notיָכְלוּya/khe/LUthey couldלָגֶשֶׁתla/GE/shetcome nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

20. 20

    וַיֻּגַּד־לוֹvay/yug/GAD-loand it was told himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִמְּךָim/me/KHAyour motherוְאַחֶיךָve/a/CHE/khaand your brothersעֹמְדִיםom/DIMare standingבַּחוּץba/CHUTSoutsideוְהֵםve/HEMand theyחֲפֵצִיםcha/fe/TSIMdesireלִרְאוֹתֶךָ׃lir/o/TE/khato see you

    And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

21. 21

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֵלֶּהEL/letheseהֵםhemareאִמִּיim/MImy motherוְאֶחָיve/e/CHAYand my brothersהַשֹּׁמְעִיםhash/shom/IMwho hearאֵת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְעֹשִׂים׃ve/o/SIMand do

    And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

22. 22

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהַיּוֹםhay/YOMone dayוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redhe went downאֶל־אֳנִיָּהel-o/niy/YAinto a boatהוּאhuheוְתַלְמִידָיוve/tal/mi/DAYVand his disciplesוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themנַעְבְּרָהna/be/RAlet us crossאֶל־עֵבֶרel-E/verto the other side ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוַיָּשׁוּטוּvay/ya/shu/TUand they sailedהַיָּמָּה׃hay/YAM/maon the sea

    Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּלֶכְתָּםbe/lekh/TAMwhile they were goingבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAin the boatוַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVhe lay downוַיִּישָׁןvay/yi/SHANand sleptוְרוּחַve/RU/achand a windסְעָרָהse/a/RAof stormיָרְדָהYAR/dacame downעַל־הַיָּםal-hay/YAMupon the seaוַיִּשְׁטְפוּvay/yish/te/FUand sweptעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMover themהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe watersוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereבְסַכָּנָה׃ve/sak/ka/NAin danger

    But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand they came nearוַיָּעִירוּvay/ya/i/RUand wokeאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמוֹרֶהmo/REteacherמוֹרֶהmo/REteacherאָבָדְנוּa/VAD/nuwe are perishingוַיֵּעוֹרvay/ye/ORand he awokeוַיִּגְעַרvay/yig/ARand rebukedבָּרוּחַba/RU/achthe windוּבְמִשְׁבְּרֵי־יָםu/ve/mish/be/RE-yamand the breakers of the seaוַיִּשְׁתְּקוּvay/yish/te/KUand they calmedוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand there wasדְמָמָה׃de/ma/MAstillness

    And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isאֱמוּנַתְכֶםe/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithוַיִּירְאוּvay/yi/re/Uand they fearedוַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand marveledוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִישׁisha manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huto his neighborמִיmiwhoאֵפוֹאe/FOthenהוּאhuis heהַמְצַוֶּהham/tsav/VEwho commandsגַּם־אֶת־הָרוּחוֹתgam-et-ha/ru/CHOTeven the windsוְאֶת־הַמַּיִםve/ET-ham/MA/yimand the watersוְשָׁמְעוּve/sha/me/Uand they obeyלוֹ׃lohim

    And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

    וַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand they crossed overוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofהַגַּדְרִיִּיםhag/Gad/riy/YIMthe Gadarenesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמִמּוּלmim/MULoppositeהַגָּלִיל׃Hag/ga/LILGalilee

    And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

    וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he went upאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁהel-hay/yab/ba/SHAto the dry landוַיִּפְגְּשֵׁהוּvay/yif/ge/SHE/huand met himאִישׁisha manיֹצֵאyo/TSEcoming outמִןminfromהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho hadשֵׁדִיםshe/DIMdemonsבּוֹboin himמִיָּמִיםmiy/ya/MIMfrom daysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוּבֶגֶדu/VE/gedand a garmentלֹאlonotלָבַשׁla/VASHhe woreוּבְבַיִתu/ve/VA/yitand in a houseלֹאlonotיָשַׁבya/SHAVhe livedכִּיkibutאִםimratherבַּקְּבָרִים׃bak/ke/va/RIMin the tombs

    And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand called outבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLloudמַה־לִּיma-liwhat is to meוָלָךְva/LAKHand to youיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבֶּן־אֵלben-elson of GodעֶלְיוֹןEl/YONMost Highמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHaskאֲנִיa/NIIמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAof youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotתְעַנֵּנִי׃te/an/ne/NIyou torment me

    When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

    כִּיkiforהוּאhuheצִוָּהtsiv/VAhad commandedאֶת־הָרוּחַet-ha/RU/achthe spiritהַטָּמֵאhat/ta/MEuncleanלָצֵאתla/TSETto come outמִן־הָאִישׁmin-ha/ISHfrom the manכִּיkiforיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyתָּפַשׂta/FASit had seizedבּוֹbohimוַיֵּאָסֵרvay/ye/a/SERand he was boundבַּזִּקִּיםbaz/zik/KIMwith chainsוַיִּשָּׁמֵרvay/yish/sha/MERand he was guardedבַּכְּבָלִיםbak/ke/va/LIMin fettersוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it wasכִּיkithatיְנַתֵּקye/nat/TEKhe would snapאֶת־הַמּוֹסֵרוֹתet-ham/mo/se/ROTthe bondsוְנִדַּחve/nid/DACHand was drivenבְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofהַשֵּׁדhash/SHEDthe demonאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּרוֹת׃el-ham/mid/ba/ROTinto the wildernesses

    (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

    וַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand askedאֹתוֹo/TOhimיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמַה־שְּׁמֶךָma-she/ME/khawhat is your nameוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלִגְיוֹןLig/YONLegionשְׁמִיshe/MIis my nameכִּי־שֵׁדִיםki-she/DIMfor demonsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyנִכְנְסוּnikh/ne/SUhad enteredבוֹ׃vointo him

    And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

31. 31

    וַיִּתְחַנֲנוּvay/yit/cha/na/NUand they pleadedלוֹlowith himלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotצַוֹּתtsav/VOTto commandאֹתָםo/TAMthemלָרֶדֶתla/RE/detto go downאֶל־הַתְּהוֹם׃el-hat/te/HOMinto the deep

    And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

32. 32

    וְשָׁםve/SHAMand there wasעֵדֶרE/dera herd ofחֲזִירִיםcha/zi/RIMpigsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyרֹעֶהro/Efeedingבָהָרva/HARupon the mountainוַיִּתְחַנֲנוּvay/yit/cha/na/NUand they pleadedלוֹlowith himלְהַנִּיחַle/han/NI/achto letלָהֶםla/HEMthemלָבוֹאla/VOto enterבְתוֹכָםve/to/KHAMinto themוַיַּנַּחvay/yan/NACHand he letלָהֶם׃la/HEMthem

    And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

33. 33

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand went outהַשֵּׁדִיםhash/she/DIMthe demonsמִן־הָאָדָםmin-ha/a/DAMfrom the manהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand enteredבַּחֲזִירִיםba/cha/zi/RIMinto the pigsוַיִּשְׂתָּעֵרvay/yis/ta/ERand rushedהָעֵדֶרha/E/derthe herdמִן־הַמּוֹרָדmin-ham/mo/RADdown the slopeאֶל־הַיָּםel-hay/YAMinto the seaוַיִּטְבָּע׃vay/yit/BAand was drowned

    Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

34. 34

    וְהָרֹעִיםve/ha/ro/IMand the herdsmenרָאוּra/Usawאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAwas doneוַיָּנוּסוּvay/ya/NU/suand fledוַיַּגִּידוּvay/yag/GI/duand toldהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterבָּעִירba/IRin the cityוּבַשָּׂדוֹת׃u/vas/sa/DOTand in the country

    When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

35. 35

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they went outלִרְאֹתlir/OTto seeאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAwas doneוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַel-Ye/SHU/ato Jesusוַיִּמְצְאוּ־שָׁםvay/yim/tse/U-shamand found thereאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERfrom whomיָצְאוּya/tse/Uhad gone outמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himהַשֵּׁדִיםhash/she/DIMthe demonsוְהוּאve/HUand heיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVsittingלְרַגְלֵיle/rag/LEat the feet ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusמְלֻבָּשׁme/lub/BASHclothed inבְּגָדִיםbe/ga/DIMgarmentsוְטוֹב־שֵׂכֶלve/TOV-SE/kheland of good senseוַיִּירָאוּ׃vay/yi/RA/uand they were afraid

    Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

36. 36

    וַיַּגִּידוּvay/yag/GI/duand toldלָהֶםla/HEMto themהָרֹאִיםha/ro/IMthose who sawאֵיךְekhhowנִרְפָּאnir/PAwas healedאֲחוּזa/CHUZthe one seized byהַשֵּׁדִים׃hash/she/DIMthe demons

    They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

37. 37

    וַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand askedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof himכׇּל־הֲמוֹןkol-ha/MONall the crowd ofחֶבֶלCHE/velthe region ofהַגַּדְרִיִּיםhag/Gad/riy/YIMthe Gadarenesלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goמֵאִתָּםme/it/TAMfrom themכִּי־אֵימָהki-e/MAfor dreadגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatנָפְלָהna/fe/LAfellעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he went downבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAinto the boatוַיָּשֹׁב׃vay/ya/SHOVand returned

    Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

38. 38

    וַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand askedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof himהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERfrom whomיָצְאוּya/tse/Uhad gone outמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himהַשֵּׁדִיםhash/she/DIMthe demonsלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto stayאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand sent awayאֹתוֹo/TOhimיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

    Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39. 39

    שׁוּבshuvreturnלְבֵיתְךָle/ve/te/KHAto your houseוְסַפֵּרve/sap/PERand tellהַגְּדֹלוֹתhag/ge/do/LOTthe great thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂה־לְךָa/SA-le/KHAhas done for youהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentלוֹlohis wayוַיַּשְׁמַעvay/yash/MAand proclaimedבְּכׇל־הָעִירbe/KHOL-ha/IRin all the cityאֶת־הַגְּדֹלוֹתet-hag/ge/do/LOTthe great thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂה־לוֹa/SA-lohad done for himיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

40. 40

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּשׁוּבbe/SHUVwhen returnedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיְקַבֵּלvay/kab/BELreceivedאֹתוֹo/TOhimהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבְּשִׂמְחָהbe/sim/CHAgladlyכִּיkiforכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themהָיוּha/YUwereמְחַכִּיםme/chak/KIMwaiting forלוֹ׃lohim

    And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

41. 41

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאִישׁisha manוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameיָאִירYa/IRJairusוְהוּאve/HUand he wasרֹאשׁroshthe head ofהַכְּנֵסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellלְרַגְלֵיle/rag/LEat the feet ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיִּתְחַנֶּן־לוֹvay/yit/chan/NEN-loand pleaded with himלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאִתּוֹit/TOwith himאֶל־בֵּיתוֹ׃el-be/TOto his house

    And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

42. 42

    כִּיkiforבַּתbata daughterיְחִידָהye/chi/DAonlyלוֹlohe hadכְּבַתke/VATaboutשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהshtem-es/REtwelveשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוְהִיאve/HIand sheנָטְתָהna/te/TAwas nearלָמוּתla/MUTto deathוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּלֶכְתּוֹbe/lekh/TOas he wentשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereוַיִּדְחָקֻהוּvay/yid/cha/ku/HUpressed himהֲמוֹןha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43. 43

    וְאִשָּׁהve/ish/SHAand a womanזָבַתza/VATflowing withדָּםdambloodשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהshtem-es/REtwelveשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוֹצִיאָהho/TSI/ahad spentכׇל־מִחְיָתָהּkhol-mich/ya/TAall her livelihoodלָרֹפְאִיםla/rof/IMon the physiciansוְאֵיןve/ENand there was notאִישׁisha manיָכֹלya/KHOLableלְרַפֹּאתָהּ׃le/rap/po/TAto heal her

    And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44. 44

    הִיאhisheקׇרְבָהkor/VAcame nearמֵאַחֲרָיוme/a/cha/RAYVfrom behind himוַתִּגַּעvat/tig/GAand touchedבִּכְנַףbikh/NAFthe corner ofבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoppedזוֹבzovthe flow ofדָּמֶיהָda/ME/haher bloodפִּתְאֹם׃pit/OMsuddenly

    Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45. 45

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusמִי־זֶהmi-zewho is thisנָגַע־בִּיna/GA-bithat touched meוַיְכַחֲשׁוּvay/kha/cha/SHUand they deniedכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוְהָעֹמְדִיםve/ha/om/DIMand those standingאֶצְלוֹets/LObeside himמוֹרֶהmo/REteacherהֲמוֹןha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleדֹּחֲקִיםdo/cha/KIMpressוְלֹחֲצִיםve/lo/cha/TSIMand crowdאֹתְךָot/KHAyouוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youתֹאמַרto/MARsayמִיmiwhoנָגַעna/GAtouchedבִּי׃bime

    And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46. 46

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusנָגַעna/GAtouchedבִּיbimeאָדָםa/DAMa manכִּיkiforיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָצְאָהya/tse/Ahas gone outמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meגְּבוּרָה׃ge/vu/RApower

    And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47. 47

    וַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand sawהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanכִּיkithatלֹא־נִסְתְּרָהlo-nis/te/RAshe was not hiddenמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himוַתִּגַּשׁvat/tig/GASHand came nearבַּחֲרָדָהba/cha/ra/DAwith tremblingוַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand fellלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוַתַּגֵּדvat/tag/GEDand toldבְּאׇזְנֵיbe/oz/NEin the ears ofכׇל־הָעָםkhol-ha/AMall the peopleעַל־מֶהal-mefor whatנָגְעָהNAG/ashe had touchedבּוֹbohimוְאֵתve/ETandאֲשֶׁרa/SHERhowנִרְפְּאָהnir/pe/Ashe had been healedפִּתְאֹם׃pit/OMsuddenly

    And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48. 48

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herחִזְקִיchiz/KIbe strongבִּתִּיbit/TImy daughterאֱמוּנָתֵךְe/mu/na/TEKHyour faithהוֹשִׁיעָהho/SHI/ahas savedלָּךְlakhyouלְכִיle/KHIgoלְשָׁלוֹם׃le/sha/LOMin peace

    And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

49. 49

    עוֹדֶנּוּo/DEN/nuwhile he was stillמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakingוְאִישׁve/ISHa manבָּאbacameמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofרֹאשׁroshthe head ofהַכְּנֵסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמֵתָהME/tahas diedבִתְּךָvit/te/KHAyour daughterאַל־תַּטְרִיחַal-tat/RI/achdo not troubleאֶת־הַמּוֹרֶה׃et-ham/mo/REthe teacher

    While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50. 50

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearרַק־הַאֲמֵןrak-ha/a/MENonly believeוְהִיאve/HIand sheתִוָּשֵׁעַ׃tiv/va/SHE/awill be saved

    But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

51. 51

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameהַבַּיְתָהhab/BAY/tainto the houseוְלֹא־הִנִּיחַve/LO-hin/NI/achand he did not letלְאִישׁle/ISHany manלָבוֹאla/VOenterאִתּוֹit/TOwith himבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptלְפֶטְרוֹסLe/fet/ROSPeterוּלְיַעֲקֹבu/Le/ya/a/KOVand Jamesוּלְיוֹחָנָןu/Le/yo/cha/NANand Johnוְלַאֲבִיve/la/a/VIand the father ofהַיַּלְדָּהhay/yal/DAthe girlוּלְאִמָּהּ׃u/le/im/MAand her mother

    And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52. 52

    וְכֻלָּםve/khul/LAMand all of themבֹּכִיםbo/KHIMweepingוְסֹפְדִיםve/sof/DIMand mourningלָהּlafor herוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַל־תִּבְכּוּal-tiv/KUdo not weepכִּיkiforלֹאlonotמֵתָהME/tais she deadאַךְ־יְשֵׁנָהakh-ye/she/NAbut sleepingהִיא׃hiis she

    And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

53. 53

    וַיִּשְׂחֲקוּvay/yis/cha/KUand they laughedעָלָיוa/LAYVat himבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERbecauseיָדְעוּya/de/Uthey knewכִּי־מֵתָה׃ki-ME/tathat she was dead

    And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54. 54

    וְהוּאve/HUand heהוֹצִיאho/TSIput outאֶת־כֻּלָּםet-kul/LAMall of themהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideוַיֶּאֱחֹזvay/ye/e/CHOZand took hold ofבְּיָדָהּbe/ya/DAher handוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהַיַּלְדָּהhay/yal/DAgirlקוּמִי׃KU/miarise

    And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55. 55

    וַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovand returnedרוּחָהּru/CHAher spiritוַתָּקׇםvat/TA/komand she aroseפִּתְאֹםpit/OMsuddenlyוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedלָתֶת־לָהּLA/tet-lato give herלֶאֱכוֹל׃le/e/KHOLto eat

    And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

56. 56

    וַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand were astonishedאָבִיהָa/VI/haher fatherוְאִמָּהּve/im/MAand her motherוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotהַגִּידhag/GIDto tellלְאִישׁle/ISHto any manאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatנַעֲשָׂה׃na/a/SAwas done

    And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
