1. 1

   וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,אַחֲרֵיafterכַלּוֹתוֹhe had finishedלְדַבֵּרspeakingאֶת־כׇּל־דְּבָרָיוall his wordsבְּאׇזְנֵיin the ears ofהָעָםthe people,וַיָּבֹאthat he enteredאֶל־כְּפַר־נַחוּם׃into Capernaum.

   Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

2. 2

   וְעֶבֶדAnd a servantלְאֶחָדof oneמִשָּׂרֵיof the captains ofהַמֵּאוֹתthe hundredsחָלָהwas sick,לָמוּתunto death,וְהוּאand heיָקָרwas preciousבְּעֵינָיוin his eyesמְאֹד׃exceedingly.

   And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעAnd he heardאֶת־שֵׁמַעthe report ofיֵשׁוּעַJesus,וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentאֵלָיוunto himאֲנָשִׁיםmenמִזִּקְנֵיof the elders ofהַיְּהוּדִיםthe Jews,וַיִּשְׁאַלand askedמֵאִתּוֹof himלָבוֹאto comeוּלְהוֹשִׁיעַand to deliverאֶת־עַבְדּוֹ׃his servant.

   And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.

4. 4

   וַיָּבֹאוּAnd they cameאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַunto Jesus,וַיִּתְחַנְנוּ־לוֹand entreated himמְאֹדearnestly,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,רָאוּיWorthyהוּאis heאֲשֶׁרthatתַּעֲשֶׂהyou should doבַּקָּשָׁתוֹ׃his request;

   And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

   כִּיforאֹהֵבlovethעַמֵּנוּour nationהוּאhe,וְהוּאand heבָנָה־לָנוּhath built for usאֶת־בֵּיתthe house ofהַכְּנֵסֶת׃the assembly.

   For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.

6. 6

   וַיֵּלֶךְAnd wentאִתָּםwith themיֵשׁוּעַJesus;וַיְהִיand it came to pass,כַּאֲשֶׁרwhenקָרַבhe drew nearאֶל־הַבַּיִתunto the house,וַיִּשְׁלַחthat sentאֵלָיוunto himשַׂר־הַמֵּאָהthe centurionאֶת־רֵעָיוhis friends,לֵאמֹרsayingלוֹto him,בִּיI pray you,אֲדֹנִיmy lord,אַל־נָאdo notתִטְרַחtrouble thyself,כִּי־נְקַלֹּתִיfor I am unworthyמֵאֲשֶׁרthatתָּבוֹאyou should comeבְּצֵלunder the shadow ofקוֹרָתִי׃my beam;

   Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:

   וּבַעֲבוּרand on account ofזֹאתthisגַּם־אֶת־עַצְמִיalso myselfלֹאnotחָשַׁבְתִּיI deemedרָאוּיworthyלָבוֹאto comeאֵלֶיךָunto you;אַךְbutדַּבֶּר־נָאspeak, I pray,דָבָרa word,וְיֵרָפֵאand shall be healedנַעֲרִי׃my servant.

   Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

8. 8

   כִּיForגַם־אָנֹכִיI alsoאִישׁam a manנָתוּןplacedתַּחַתunderהַמֶּמְשָׁלָהauthority,וְיֶשׁ־תַּחַתand there are underיָדִיmy handאַנְשֵׁיmen ofצָבָאthe army;וְאָמַרְתִּיand I sayלָזֶהunto this one,לֵךְGo,וְהָלַךְand he goes;וְלָזֶהand to another,בוֹאCome,וּבָאand he comes;וּלְעַבְדִּיand unto my servant,עֲשֵׂה־זֹאתDo this,וְעָשָׂה׃and he does it.

   For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

9. 9

   וַיִּשְׁמַעAnd heardיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶת־דְּבָרָיוhis words,וַיִּתְמַהּand marvelledעָלָיוat him,וַיִּפֶןand turnedוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־הֶהָמוֹןunto the multitudeהַהֹלֵךְthat walkedאַחֲרָיוafter him,אֹמֵרSayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,גַּם־בְּיִשְׂרָאֵלeven in Israelלֹא־מָצָאתִיI have not foundאֱמוּנָהfaithגְּדוֹלָהgreatכָזֹאת׃like this.

   When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

10. 10

    וַיָּשׁוּבוּAnd returnedהַשְּׁלוּחִיםthe messengersאֶל־הַבָּיִתunto the house,וַיִּמְצְאוּand they foundאֶת־הָעֶבֶדthe servantהַחֹלֶהthat was sickוְהִנֵּהand behold,נִרְפָּא׃he was healed.

    And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתon the morrow,וַיֵּלֶךְthat he wentאֶל־עִירunto a cityוּשְׁמָהּwhose name wasנָעִיםNaim;וְרַבִּיםand manyמִתַּלְמִידָיוof his disciplesהֹלְכִיםwere walkingאִתּוֹwith him,וַהֲמוֹןand a multitude ofעַםpeopleרָב׃great.

    And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

12. 12

    הוּאHeקָרַבdrew nearאֶל־שַׁעַרunto the gate ofהָעִירthe city,וְהִנֵּהand behold,מוֹצִיאִיםthey were bringing forthמֵתa dead one,בֵּןa son,יָחִידan only one,לְאִמּוֹunto his mother,וְהִיאand sheאַלְמָנָהwas a widow;וְעִמָּהּand with herרַבִּיםmanyמֵעַםof the people ofהָעִיר׃the city.

    Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

13. 13

    וְכִרְאוֹתAnd when sawאֹתָהּherהָאָדוֹןthe Lord,נִכְמְרוּwere movedרַחֲמָיוhis compassionsעָלֶיהָupon her,וַיֹּאמֶרand he saidלָהּunto her,אַל־תִּבְכִּי׃Weep not.

    And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

14. 14

    וַיִּגַּשׁAnd he drew nearוַיִּגַּעand touchedבַּמִּטָּהthe bier,וַיַּעַמְדוּand stoppedהַנֹּשְׂאִיםthose who carried him;וַיֹּאמַרand he said,נַעַרYoung man,אֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIאֵלֶיךָunto you,קוּמָה׃arise.

    And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

15. 15

    וַיִּתְעוֹדֵדAnd sat upהַמֵּתthe dead one,וַיָּחֶלand beganלְדַבֵּרto speak;וַיִּתְּנֵהוּand he gave himלְאִמּוֹ׃unto his mother.

    And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

16. 16

    וּרְעָדָהAnd tremblingאָחֲזָהseizedכֻלָּםall of them,וַיְשַׁבְּחוּand they praisedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,נָבִיאA prophetגָדוֹלgreatקָםhath arisenבְּקִרְבֵּנוּin our midst,וְהָאֱלֹהִיםand Godפָּקַדhath visitedאֶת־עַמּוֹ׃his people.

    And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

17. 17

    וַיֵּצֵאAnd went forthהַדָּבָרthe reportהַזֶּהthisעָלָיוconcerning himבְּכׇל־יְהוּדָהin all Judahוּבְכׇל־הַכִּכָּר׃and in all the region.

    And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judæa, and throughout all the region round about.

18. 18

    וְתַלְמִידֵיAnd the disciples ofיוֹחָנָןJohnהִגִּידוּtoldלוֹunto himאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּה׃all these things.

    And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.

19. 19

    וַיִּקְרָאAnd calledאֵלָיוunto himיוֹחָנָןJohnשְׁנַיִםtwoמִתַּלְמִידָיוof his disciples,וַיִּשְׁלָחֵםand he sent themאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַunto Jesus,לֵאמֹרsayingלוֹto him,הַאַתָּהAre youהוּאheהַבָּאthat should come?אִם־נְחַכֶּהor shall we waitלְאַחֵר׃for another?

    And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

20. 20

    וַיָּבֹאוּAnd cameאֵלָיוunto himהָאֲנָשִׁיםthe men,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,יוֹחָנָןJohnהַמַּטְבִּילthe Immerserשְׁלָחָנוּsent usאֵלֶיךָunto you,לֵאמֹרsaying,הַאַתָּהAre youהוּאheהַבָּאthat should come?אִם־נְחַכֶּהor shall we waitלְאַחֵר׃for another?

    When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

21. 21

    וְהוּאAnd heרִפָּאhealedבָּעֵתat the timeהַהִיאthatרַבִּיםmanyמֵחֳלָיִיםfrom diseasesוּמִנְּגָעִיםand from plagues,וּמֵרוּחוֹתand from spiritsרָעוֹתevil;וּלְעִוְרִיםand unto blind onesרַבִּיםmanyנָתַןhe gaveרְאוּתsight ofעֵינָיִם׃eyes.

    And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

22. 22

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לְכוּGo youוְהַגִּידוּand tellלְיוֹחָנָןunto Johnאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatרְאִיתֶםyou have seenוַאֲשֶׁרand whatשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou have heard:עִוְרִיםblind onesרֹאִיםsee,וּפִסְחִיםand lame onesמְהַלְּכִיםwalk,וּמְצֹרָעִיםand lepersמְטֹהָרִיםare cleansed,וְחֵרְשִׁיםand deaf onesשׁוֹמְעִיםhear,וּמֵתִיםand dead onesקָמִיםarise,וַעֲנִיִּיםand to the poorמִתְבַּשְּׂרִים׃good tidings are brought.

    Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

23. 23

    וְאַשְׁרֵיAnd blessed isהָאִישׁthe manאֲשֶׁרwhoלֹא־יִכָּשֵׁלis not offendedבִּי׃in me.

    And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

24. 24

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,כַּאֲשֶׁרwhenהָלְכוּhad departedשְׁלוּחֵיthe messengers ofיוֹחָנָןJohn,וַיָּחֶלthat he beganלְדַבֵּרto speakאֶל־הֲמוֹןunto the multitude ofהָעָםthe peopleעַל־אֹדוֹתconcerningיוֹחָנָןJohn,וַיֹּאמַרand said,מַה־זֶּהWhat is this,יְצָאתֶםthat you went outהַמִּדְבָּרָהinto the wildernessלִרְאוֹתto see?הֲקָנֶהA reedאֲשֶׁרthatיִנּוֹעַis shakenבָּרוּחַ׃by the wind?

    And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

25. 25

    אוֹOrמַה־זֶּהwhat is this,יְצָאתֶםthat you went outלִרְאוֹתto see?הַאִישׁA manלָבוּשׁclothed inבִּגְדֵיgarments ofעֲדָנִיםluxuries?הִנֵּהbehold,הַמְלֻבָּשִׁיםthey that are clothed inבִּגְדֵיgarments ofתִפְאֶרֶתsplendor,וְהַמְעֻנָּגִיםand they that live in delicacies,בְּחַצְרוֹתin the courts ofהַמְּלָכִיםkingsהֵמָּה׃are they.

    But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.

26. 26

    וְעַתָּהAnd nowמַה־זֶּהwhat is this,יְצָאתֶםthat you went outלִרְאוֹתto see?אִם־לִרְאוֹתif to seeאִישׁa man,נָבִיאa prophet?הֵןBehold,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,אַף־גָּדוֹלeven greaterהוּאis heמִנָּבִיא׃than a prophet.

    But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

27. 27

    זֶהThisהוּאis heאֲשֶׁרof whomכָּתוּבit is written,עָלָיוconcerning him,הִנְנִיBehold Iשֹׁלֵחַsendמַלְאָכִיmy messengerלְפָנֶיךָbefore your face,וּפִנָּהand he shall clearדַרְכְּךָyour wayלְפָנֶיךָ׃before you.

    This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

28. 28

    כִּיForאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,אֵיןthere is noאִישׁmanבִּילוּדֵיamong them born ofאִשָּׁהwomanגָּדוֹלgreaterמִיּוֹחָנָןthan Johnהַמַּטְבִּילthe Immerser;וְהַקָּטֹןyet the leastבְּמַלְכוּתin the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodיִגְדַּלis greaterמִמֶּנּוּ׃than he.

    For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

29. 29

    וְכׇל־הָעָםAnd all the peopleהַשֹּׁמְעִיםwho heard,וְהַמֹּכְסִיםand the tax-collectors,הִצְדִּיקוּjustifiedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיִּטָּבְלוּand were baptizedבִּטְבִילַתwith the baptism ofיוֹחָנָן׃John.

    And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

30. 30

    וְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםBut the Phariseesוְהַחֲכָמִיםand the wiseהֵפֵרוּfrustratedאֶת־עֲצַתthe counsel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodעַל־נַפְשָׁםagainst their own souls,וְלֹאand notנִטְבְּלוּwere baptizedעַל־יָדוֹ׃by his hand.

    But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidהָאָדוֹןthe Lord,עַתָּהNowאֶל־מִיunto whomאֲדַמֶּהshall I likenאֶת־אַנְשֵׁיthe men ofהַדּוֹרgenerationהַזֶּהthis,וְאֶל־מִיand unto whomהֵםare theyדֹּמִים׃like?

    And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

32. 32

    דֹּמִיםLikeהֵםthey areלַיְלָדִיםunto childrenהַיֹּשְׁבִיםsittingבַּשּׁוּקin the marketplace,וְקֹרְאִיםand callingזֶהoneאֶל־זֶהto another,וְאֹמְרִיםand saying,חִלַּלְנוּWe have pipedלָכֶםunto youבַּחֲלִילִיםwith flutes,וְלֹאand you did notרִקַּדְתֶּםdance;קוֹנַנּוּwe have lamentedלָכֶםunto youקִינָהa lament,וְלֹאand you did notבְכִיתֶם׃weep.

    They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

33. 33

    כִּיForבָאcameיוֹחָנָןJohnהַמַּטְבִּילthe Immerser,לֶחֶםbreadלֹא־אָכַלnot eatingוְיַיִןand wineלֹא־שָׁתָהnot drinking,וַאֲמַרְתֶּםand you said,שֵׁדA demon isבּוֹ׃in him.

    For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.

34. 34

    וּבָאAnd cameבֶן־הָאָדָםthe Son of man,וְהוּאand heאֹכֵלeatsוְשֹׁתֶהand drinks,וַאֲמַרְתֶּםand you said,הִנֵּהBehold,זוֹלֵלa gluttonוְסֹבֵאand a drunkard,וְרֵעַand a friendלְמוֹכְסִיםof tax-collectorsוּלְחַטָּאִים׃and sinners.

    The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

35. 35

    וְהַחׇכְמָהAnd wisdomנִצְדְּקָהis justifiedבְּכׇל־בָּנֶיהָ׃by all her children.

    But wisdom is justified of all her children.

36. 36

    וְאֶחָדAnd oneמִן־הַפְּרוּשִׁיםof the Phariseesבִּקֵּשׁsoughtמִמֶּנּוּfrom himלֶאֱכֹלto eatאִתּוֹwith himלָחֶםbread,וַיָּבֹאand he cameאֶל־בֵּיתunto the house ofהַפָּרוּשׁthe Pharisee,וַיַּסֵּב׃and reclined.

    And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.

37. 37

    וְהִנֵּהAnd behold,אִשָּׁהa womanאַחַתone,בָּעִירin the city,אֲשֶׁרwhoהָיְתָהwasחֹטֵאתsinful,כְּשָׁמְעָהּwhen she heardכִּי־הוּאthat heמֵסֵבwas reclining atבֵּיתthe house ofהַפָּרוּשׁthe Pharisee,וַתָּבֵאbroughtפַּךְ־מִרְקָחַת׃a flask of ointment,

    And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38. 38

    וַתַּעֲמֹדand she stoodלְרַגְלָיוat his feetמֵאַחֲרָיוbehind him,וַתֵּבְךְּand she wept,וַתּוֹרֶדand let downדְּמָעוֹתtearsעַל־רַגְלָיוupon his feet,וַתְּנַגֵּבand wipedאֹתָןthemבִּשְׂעַרwith the hair ofרֹאשָׁהּher head,וַתִּשַּׁקand kissedאֶת־רַגְלָיוhis feet,וַתָּסָךְand anointedאֹתָןthemבַּמִּרְקַחַת׃with the ointment.

    And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

39. 39

    וַיַּרְאAnd sawהַפָּרוּשׁthe Phariseeאֲשֶׁרwhoקָרָאhad calledאֹתוֹhim,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidבְּלִבּוֹin his heart,אִלּוּIfהָיָהwereזֶהthis oneנָבִיאa prophet,כִּי־עַתָּהthen nowיָדֹעַsurelyיָדַעwould he knowמִי־הִיאwho she is,זֹאתthis,וְאֵי־זוֹand what sortהִיאshe is,הַנֹּגַעַתwho is touchingבּוֹhim,כִּי־אִשָּׁהfor a womanחַטָּאָהsinfulהִיא׃is she.

    Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

40. 40

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוunto him,שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,דָּבָר־לִיa word is for meאֵלֶיךָunto you.וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he said,רַבִּיRabbi,דַּבֵּר׃speak.

    And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

41. 41

    לְנשֶׁהUnto a creditorאֶחָדoneהָיוּwereשְׁנֵיtwoבַעֲלֵי־חוֹבוֹתmasters of debts;הָאֶחָדthe oneחַיָּבowedלוֹunto himדִּינָרִיםdenariiחֲמֵשׁfiveמֵאוֹתhundred,וְהָאַחֵרand the otherדִּינָרִיםdenariiחֲמִשִּׁים׃fifty.

    There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

42. 42

    וּמִפְּנֵיAnd becauseשֶׁלּאnotהָיָהwasלָהֶםto themלִפְרֹעַwherewith to pay,מָחַלhe forgaveלִשְׁנֵיהֶםunto them both;וְעַתָּהand nowאֱמׇר־נָאtell me, I pray,מִיwhoמִשְּׁנֵיהֶםof the two of themיְחַבֵּבshall loveאֹתוֹhimיוֹתֵר׃more?

    And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

43. 43

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredשִׁמְעוֹןSimonוַיֹּאמַרand said,כִּמְדֻמֶּהSeemsאֲנִיto meזֶהthis,שֶׁמָּחַלunto whom he forgaveלוֹunto himיוֹתֵרmore.וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֵלָיוunto him,יָפָהRightlyדָנְתָּ׃have you judged.

    Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

44. 44

    וַיִּפֶןAnd he turnedאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהunto the woman,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־שִׁמְעוֹןunto Simon,הֲרָאִיתָHave you seenאֶת־הָאִשָּׁהthe womanהַזֹּאתthis?הִנֵּהBehold,בָאתִיI cameאֶל־בֵּיתְךָunto your house,וּמַיִםand waterעַל־רַגְלַיupon my feetלֹאnotנָתָתָּdid you give,וְהִיאbut sheהוֹרִידָהlet fallדְמָעוֹתtearsעַל־רַגְלַיupon my feet,וַתְּנַגֵּבand wiped themבְּשַׂעְרָהּ׃with her hair.

    And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

45. 45

    אַתָּהYouלֹאnotנְשַׁקְתַּנִיdidst kiss meנְשִׁיקָהa kissאֶחָתone,וְהִיאbut she,מֵאָזsinceבָּאתִיI came in,לֹאnotחָדְלָהhath she ceasedלְנַשֵּׁקto kissאֶת־רַגְלָי׃my feet.

    Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

    אַתָּהYouבְּשֶׁמֶןwith oilלֹאnotסַכְתָּdidst anointאֶת־רֹאשִׁיmy head,וְהִיאbut sheבְּמִרְקַחַתwith ointmentסָכָהanointedאֶת־רַגְלָי׃my feet.

    My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

47. 47

    לָכֵןThereforeאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIאֵלֶיךָunto you,נִסְלְחוּare forgivenלָהּunto herחַטֹּאתֶיהָher sinsהָרַבּוֹתthe many,כִּיforהַרְבֵּהmuchאָהֵבָהshe loved;וַאֲשֶׁרand he to whomנִסְלַח־לוֹis forgivenמְעַטlittle,הוּאheאֹהֵבlovesמְעָט׃little.

    Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

48. 48

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֵלֶיהָunto her,נִסְלְחוּ־לָךְAre forgiven youחַטֹּאתָיִךְ׃your sins.

    And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

49. 49

    וַיָּחִלּוּAnd beganהַמְסֻבִּיםthose recliningעִמּוֹwith himלֵאמֹרto sayבְּלִבָּםin their heart,מִיWhoהוּאisזֶהthis,אֲשֶׁרwhoגַּם־יִסְלַחeven forgivesלַחֲטָאִים׃sins?

    And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

50. 50

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהunto the woman,אֱמוּנָתֵךְYour faithהוֹשִׁיעָהhath savedלָּךְyou;לְכִיgoלְשָׁלוֹם׃unto peace.

    And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
