    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passבָּיוֹםon the day ofהַשַּׁבָּתthe sabbath,הַשֵּׁנִיתthe secondלִסְפִירַתof the counting ofהָעֹמֶרthe Omer,עָבַרthat he passedבֵּיןthroughהַשָׂדוֹתthe fields,וַיִּקְטְפוּand pluckedתַלְמִידָיוhis disciplesמְלִילֹתears of grain,וַיְפָרְכוּand rubbedאֹתָןthemבִּידֵיהֶםin their hands,וַיֹּאכֵלוּ׃and ate.

    And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

    וַאֲנָשִׁיםAnd menמִן־הַפְּרוּשִׁיםof the Phariseesאָמְרוּsaidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לָמָּהWhyאַתֶּםare youעֹשִׂיםdoingאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichלֹאis notיֵעָשֶׂהto be doneבַּשַּׁבָּת׃on the sabbath?

    And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,הֲלֹאHave you notקְרָאתֶםreadאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatעָשָׂהdidדָוִדDavidבִּהְיוֹתוֹwhen he wasרָעֵבhungry,הוּאheוַאֲשֶׁרand they whoהָיוּwereאִתּוֹ׃with him?

    And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;

    אֲשֶׁרWhoבָּאenteredאֶל־בֵּיתinto the house ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיִּקַּחand tookאֶת־לֶחֶםthe bread ofהַפָּנִיםthe presence,וַיֹּאכַלand ate,וְגַם־נָתַןand also gaveלַאֲנָשָׁיוunto his men,אֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichלֹאis notנָכוֹןrightלְאׇכְלוֹto eat,כִּיbutאִם־לַכֹּהֲנִיםonly for the priestsלְבַדָּם׃alone.

    How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,כִּיthatבֶּן־הָאָדָםthe Son of manגַּם־אֲדוֹןis also lord ofהַשַּׁבָּתthe sabbath,הוּא׃he.

    And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passבְּשַׁבָּתon a sabbathאַחֶרֶתanotherוַיָּבֹאthat he enteredאֶל־בֵּיתinto the house ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe assemblyוַיְלַמֵּדand taught;וְשָׁםand there wasאִישׁa manאֲשֶׁרwhoseיָבְשָׁהhad witheredיָדוֹhis hand,הַיְמָנִית׃the right one.

    And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

    וַיֶּאֶרְבוּ־לוֹAnd lay in wait for himהַסּוֹפְרִיםthe scribesוְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםand the Pharisees,לִרְאוֹתto seeאִם־יִרְפָּאwhether he would healבַּשַּׁבָּתon the sabbath,לְמַעַןthatיִמְצְאוּthey might findעָלָיוagainst himעֲלִילֹתoccasions ofדְּבָרִים׃matters.

    And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

    וְהוּאBut heיָדַעknewאֶת־מַחְשְׁבוֹתָםtheir thoughts,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־הָאִישׁunto the manאֲשֶׁרwhoseיָבְשָׁהhad witheredיָדוֹhis hand,קוּםAriseוַעֲמוֹדand standבַּתָּוֶךְin the midst;וַיָּקׇםand he aroseוַיַּעֲמֹד׃and stood.

    But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto themיֵשׁוּעַJesus,אֶשְׁאֲלָהLet me askאֶתְכֶםyouדָּבָרa thing;מַה־הַנָּכוֹןwhat is rightבַּשַּׁבָּתon the sabbath,הַלְהֵיטִיבto do goodאִםorלְהָרֵעַto do evil?לְהַצִּילto deliverנֶפֶשׁa soulאִם־לְאַבֵּד׃or to destroy it?

    Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

    וַיַּבֵּטAnd he lookedסָבִיבaroundאֶל־כֻּלָּםupon all of them,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָאִישׁunto the man,פְּשֹׁטStretch outאֶת־יָדֶךָyour hand.וַיַּעַשׂAnd he didכֵּןso,וַתֵּרָפֵאand was healedיָדוֹhis hand,וַתָּשׇׁבand it returnedכָּאַחֶרֶת׃as the other.

    And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

  11. 11

    וְהֵמָּהAnd theyנִמְלְאוּwere filled withחֵמָהwrath,וַיִּוָּסְדוּand took counselיַחַדtogether,מַה־לַּעֲשׂוֹתwhat to doלְיֵשׁוּעַ׃unto Jesus.

    And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

  12. 12

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passבַּיָּמִיםin the daysהָהֵםthose,וַיֵּצֵאthat he went outהָהָרָהto the mountainלְהִתְפַּלֵּלto pray,וַיַּעֲמֹדand continuedכׇּל־הַלַּיְלָהall the nightבַּתְּפִלָּהin prayerלֵאלֹהִים׃unto God.

    And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

    וּבִהְיֹתAnd when cameהַבֹּקֶרthe morning,אָסַףhe gatheredאֵלָיוunto himאֶת־תַּלְמִידָיוhis disciples,וַיִּבְחַרand choseמֵהֶםfrom themשְׁנֵיםtwoעָשָׂרplus ten,אֲשֶׁרwhomקָרָאhe calledלָהֶםthemשְׁלִיחִים׃apostles;

    And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

    אֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,אֲשֶׁרwhomגַּם־קְרָאוֹhe also calledפֶּטְרוֹסPeter,וְאֶת־אַנְדְּרַיand Andrewאָחִיוhis brother,אֶת־יַעֲקֹבJamesוְאֵתandיוֹחָנָןJohn,אֵת־פִּילִפּוֹסPhilipוְאֵתandבַּר־תַּלְמָי׃Bartholomew,

    Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

    אֵת־מַתַּיMatthewוְאֶת־תּוֹמָאand Thomas,וְאֶת־יַעֲקֹבand Jamesבֶּן־חַלְפַיson of Alphaeus,וְאֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןand Simon,אֲשֶׁרwhoיִקָּרֵאwas calledלוֹunto himהַקַּנָּא׃the Zealot,

    Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes,

    אֶת־יְהוּדָהJudasבֶּן־יַעֲקֹבson of James,וְאֶת־יְהוּדָהand Judasאִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹתman of Kerioth,וְהוּאand heאֲשֶׁרis the one whoהָיָהbecameלְמוֹסֵר׃a betrayer.

    And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

    וַיֵּרֶדAnd he came downאִתָּםwith them,וַיַּעֲמֹדand stoodבִּמְקוֹםin a place ofמִישׁוֹרlevel ground,הוּאheוַהֲמוֹןand the multitude ofתַּלְמִידָיוhis disciples,וּקְהַלand a congregation ofעַםpeopleרָבgreatמִכׇּל־יְהוּדָהfrom all Judahוִירוּשָׁלַיִםand Jerusalem,וּמֵחוֹףand from the coast ofיָם־צֹרthe sea of Tyreוְצִידוֹןand Sidon,אֲשֶׁרwhoבָּאוּcameלִשְׁמֹעַto hearאֹתוֹhim,וּלְהֵרָפֵאand to be healedמֵחָלְיֵיהֶם׃from their diseases;

    And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

    וְגַם־הַמְעֻנִּיםand also they that were tormentedבְּרוּחוֹתby spiritsטְמֵאוֹתunclean,וַיֵּרָפֵאוּ׃and they were healed.

    And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

  19. 19

    וְכׇל־הֶהָמוֹןAnd all the multitudeמְבַקְשִׁיםwere seekingלָגַעַתto touchבּוֹhim,כִּיforגְבוּרָהpowerיָצְאָהwent forthמֵאִתּוֹfrom him,וְרָפְאָהand healedאֶת־כֻּלָּם׃all of them.

    And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

  20. 20

    וְהוּאAnd heנָשָׂאliftedאֶת־עֵינָיוhis eyesאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוunto his disciplesוַיֹּאמַרand said,אַשְׁרֵיכֶםBlessed are you,אַתֶּםyouהָעֲנִיִּיםthe poor,כִּי־לָכֶםfor unto you isמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

    אַשְׁרֵיכֶםBlessed are you,אַתֶּםyouהָרְעֵבִיםthe hungryהַיּוֹםtoday,כִּיforתִשְׂבָּעוּyou shall be filled.אַשְׁרֵיכֶםBlessed areהַבֹּכִיםthose who weepהַיּוֹםtoday,כִּיforתִשְׂחָקוּ׃you shall laugh.

    Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

  22. 22

    אַשְׁרֵיכֶםBlessed are youאִם־יִשְׂנְאוּwhen shall hateאֶתְכֶםyouהָאֲנָשִׁיםmen,וְאִם־יְנַדּוּand when they shall ostracizeאֶתְכֶםyou,וְחֵרְפוּand reproachוִינָאֲצוּand revileאֶת־שִׁמְכֶםyour nameכְּשֵׁםas a nameרָעevil,לְמַעַןfor the sake ofבֶּן־הָאָדָם׃the Son of man.

    Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

  23. 23

    שִׂמְחוּRejoiceבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthat,וּרְקֹדוּand leap;כִּיforהִנֵּהbehold,שְׂכַרְכֶםyour rewardרַבis greatבַּשָּׁמַיִםin heaven,כִּי־כַדָּבָרfor like the mannerהַזֶּהthisעָשׂוּdidאֲבֹתֵיהֶםtheir fathersלַנְּבִיאִים׃unto the prophets.

    Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

  24. 24

    אַךְ־אוֹיBut woeלָכֶםunto you,הָעֲשִׁירִיםthe rich,כִּי־כְבָרfor alreadyלְקַחְתֶּםyou have receivedאֵת־נֶחָמַתְכֶם׃your consolation.

    But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

  25. 25

    אוֹיWoeלָכֶםunto you,הַשְׂבֵעִיםthe satisfied,כִּיforתִרְעָבוּyou shall hunger.אוֹיWoeלָכֶםunto you,הַשֹּׂחֲקִיםthose who laughהַיּוֹםtoday,כִּיforתִתְאַבְּלוּyou shall mournוְתִבְכּוּ׃and weep.

    Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

  26. 26

    אוֹיWoeלָכֶםunto you,אִםwhenכׇּל־הָאֲנָשִׁיםall menמְשַׁבְּחִיםpraiseאֶתְכֶםyou;כִּיforכַּדָּבָרlike the mannerהַזֶּהthisעָשׂוּdidאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםtheir fathersלִנְבִיאֵיunto the prophets ofהַשָּׁקֶר׃falsehood.

    Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

  27. 27

    אֲבָלButאַתֶּםunto youהַשֹּׁמְעִיםwho hearאֲלֵיכֶםunto youאֲנִיIאֹמֵרsay,אֶהֱבוּLoveאֶת־אֹיְבֵיכֶםyour enemies,הֵיטִיבוּdo goodלְשׂנְאֵיכֶם׃unto those who hate you;

    But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

  28. 28

    בָּרֲכוּBlessאֶת־מְקַלֲלֵיכֶםthose who curse you,וְהִתְפַּלֲלוּand prayבְּעַדforמַכְלִימֵיכֶם׃those who insult you.

    Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

  29. 29

    הַמַּכֶּהHim who strikesאֹתְךָyouעַל־הַלְּחִיupon the cheek,הַטֵּה־לוֹturn unto himגַּםalsoאֶת־הָאַחֶרֶתthe other;וְהַלּקֵחַand from him who takesאֶת־מְעִילְךָyour cloak,אַל־תִּמְנַעwithhold notמִמֶּנּוּfrom himגַּםalsoאֶת־כֻּתָּנְתֶּךָ׃your tunic.

    And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

  30. 30

    וְכׇל־הַשֹּׁאֵלAnd to everyone who asksמִמְּךָfrom you,תֶּן־לוֹgive unto him;וְהַלּקֵחַand from him who takesאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat which isלָךְyours,אַל־תִּתְבַּעdo not demand itמֵאִתּוֹ׃from him.

    Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

  31. 31

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרAnd asתִּרְצוּyou wouldשֶׁיַּעֲשׂוּthat should doלָכֶםunto youבְּנֵיthe sons ofהָאָדָםthe man,כֵּןsoתַּעֲשׂוּ־לָהֶםdo you unto themגַּם־אַתֶּם׃also yourselves.

    And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

  32. 32

    וְאִם־תְּאֵהֲבוּAnd if you loveאֶת־אֹהֲבֵיכֶםthose who love you,מֶהwhatחַסְדְּכֶםis your kindness?כִּיforגַם־הַחַטָּאִיםeven the sinnersאֹהֲבִיםloveאֶת־אֹהֲבֵיהֶם׃those who love them.

    For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

  33. 33

    וְאִםAnd ifתֵּיטִיבוּyou do goodלְמֵטִיבֵיכֶםunto those who do good unto you,מֶהwhatחַסְדְּכֶםis your kindness?גַּם־הַחַטָּאִיםeven the sinnersיַעֲשׂוּ־כֵן׃do likewise.

    And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

  34. 34

    וְאִם־תַּלְווּAnd if you lend toאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menאֲשֶׁרof whomתְּקַוּוּyou hopeלְקַבֵּלto receiveמֵהֶםfrom them,מֶהwhatחַסְדְּכֶםis your kindness?גַּםevenהַחַטָּאִיםthe sinnersמַלְוִיםlendאֶת־הַחַטָּאִיםunto sinners,לְמַעַןin order thatיוּשַׁבbe returnedלָהֶםunto themהַמִּלְוֶה׃the loan.

    And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

  35. 35

    אֲבָלRatherאֶהֱבוּloveאֶת־אֹיְבֵיכֶםyour enemies,וְהֵיטִיבוּand do good,וְהַלְווּand lend,וְאַלand notתְּצַפּוּdo you expectלְתַשְׁלוּםrepayment;וִיהִיand shall beשְׂכַרְכֶםyour rewardרַבgreat,וִהְיִיתֶםand you shall beבְּנֵיsons ofעֶלְיוֹןthe Most High,כִּיforטוֹבgoodהוּאis heגַּם־לִכְפוּיֵיalso unto the ungrateful forטוֹבָהgoodnessוְלָרָעִים׃and unto the evil.

    But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

  36. 36

    לָכֵןThereforeהֱיוּbe youרַחֲמָנִיםmerciful,כַּאֲשֶׁרasגַּם־אֲבִיכֶםalso your Fatherרַחוּםis merciful,הוּא׃he.

    Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

  37. 37

    וְאַל־תִּשְׁפְּטוּAnd judge not,וְלֹאand notתִשָּׁפֵטוּshall you be judged;אַל־תְּחַיְּבוּcondemn not,וְלֹאand notתְחֻיָּבוּshall you be condemned;נַקּוּabsolve,וְתִנָּקוּ׃and you shall be absolved.

    Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

  38. 38

    תְּנוּGive,וְתִנָּתֵןand it shall be givenלָכֶםunto you;וּמִדָּהa measureיָפָהfair,דְּחוּקָהpressed down,וּגְדוּשָׁהand heaped up,וּמֻשְׁפָּעָהand overflowing,יָשִׁיבוּshall they pourאֶל־חֵיקְכֶםinto your bosom;כִּיforבַמִּדָּהwith the measureאֲשֶׁרthatאַתֶּםyouמוֹדֲדִיםmeasureיִמַּדshall it be measuredלָכֶם׃unto you.

    Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

    וַיִּשָּׂאAnd he took upמְשָׁלוֹhis parableוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,הֲיוּכַלCanעִוֵּרa blind manלְהַדְרִיךְleadאֶת־הָעִוֵּרthe blind?הֲלֹאshall they notיִפְּלוּfallשְׁנֵיהֶםboth of themאֶל־הַשָּׁחַת׃into the pit?

    And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

  40. 40

    אֵיןThere is noתַּלְמִידdiscipleנַעֲלֶהexaltedעַל־רַבּוֹabove his master;וְדַיּוֹbut it sufficethלְכׇל־תַּלְמִידfor every discipleשָׁלֵםperfectלִהְיוֹתto beכְּרַבּוֹ׃as his master.

    The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

  41. 41

    וְלָמָּהAnd whyזֶּהis this,אַתָּהthat youרֹאֶהseestאֶת־הַקֵּסֶםthe splinterאֲשֶׁרthat isבְּעֵיןin the eye ofאָחִיךָyour brother,וְאֶת־הַקּוֹרָהyet the beamבְעֵינְךָin your eyeלֹאnotתַבִּיט׃do you consider?

    And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

  42. 42

    וְאֵיךְAnd howתֹּאמַרcan you sayאֶל־אָחִיךָunto your brother,אָחִיMy brother,הַנִּיחָהallowלִּיme,וְאָסִירand I will removeאֶת־הַקֵּסֶםthe splinterאֲשֶׁרthat isבְּעֵינֶךָin your eye,וְאֵינְךָwhile you do notרֹאֶהseeאֶת־הַקּוֹרָהthe beamאֲשֶׁרthat isבְּעֵינֶךָin your eye?הֶחָנֵףYou hypocrite,הָסֵרremoveבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstאֶת־הַקּוֹרָהthe beamמֵעֵינְךָfrom your eye,וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןand afterwardsרָאֹהclearlyתִרְאֶהshall you seeלְהָסִירto removeאֶת־הַקֵּסֶםthe splinterאֲשֶׁרthat isבְּעֵיןin the eye ofאָחִיךָ׃your brother.

    Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

    כִּי־עֵץFor a treeטוֹבgoodאֵינֶנּוּdoes notעֹשֶׂהmakeפְּרִיfruitנִשְׁחָתcorrupt;וְעֵץneither a treeנִשְׁחָתcorruptאֵינֶנּוּdoesעֹשֶׂהmakeפְּרִיfruitטוֹב׃good.

    For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

  44. 44

    כִּיForכׇל־עֵץevery treeנִכַּרis knownבְּפִרְיוֹby its fruit;כִּיforאֵיןthere are noאֹסְפִיםgatherers ofתְּאֵנִיםfigsמִן־הַקֹּצִיםfrom thorns,אַףalsoאֵין־בֹּצְרִיםno harvesters ofעֵנָבgrapesמִן־הַסְּנֶה׃from the bramble.

    For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

  45. 45

    אִישׁA manטוֹבgood,מֵאוֹצַרfrom the treasure ofלִבּוֹhis heartהַטּוֹבgood,מֵפִיקbrings forthאֶת־הַטּוֹבthat which is good;וְאִישׁand a manרַעevil,מֵאוֹצַרfrom the treasure ofלִבּוֹhis heartהָרַעevil,מֵפִיקbrings forthאֶת־הָרָעthat which is evil;כִּי־מִשִּׁפְעַתfor from the abundance ofלֵבthe heart ofאִישׁa manיְמַלֵּלspeakethפִּיהוּ׃his mouth.

    A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

    וְלָמָּהAnd whyזֶּהis this,אַתֶּםthat youקֹרְאִיםcallלִיunto me,אֲדֹנִיMy lord,אֲדֹנִיmy lord,וְאֵינְכֶםand you do notעֹשִׂיםdoאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִיthat which Iאֹמֵר׃say?

    And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

    כׇּל־הַבָּאEveryone who comesאֵלַיunto meוְשׁוֹמֵעַand hearsאֶת־דְּבָרַיmy wordsוְעֹשֶׂהand doesאֹתָםthem,אַגִּידI will declareלָכֶםunto youלְמִיunto whomהוּאheדוֹמֶה׃is like.

    Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

    דּוֹמֶהLikeהוּאis heלְאִישׁunto a manבֹּנֶה־בַּיִתbuilding a house,אֲשֶׁרwhoהֶעְמִיקdug deepלַחְפֹּרto excavate,וַיְיַסְּדוֹand laid its foundationעַל־הַצּוּרupon the rock;וּכְבוֹאand when cameהַשֵּׁטֶףthe flood,פָּרַץburst forthהַנַּחַלthe streamבַּבַּיִתagainst houseהַהוּאthat,וְלֹאand notיָכֹלwas it ableלַהֲנִיעוֹto shake it,כִּי־טוֹבfor wellמִבְנֵהוּ׃was its structure.

    He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

    וַאֲשֶׁרBut he whoשָׁמַעheardוְלֹאand notעָשָׂהdid,דּוֹמֶהis likeלְאִישׁunto a manאֲשֶׁרwhoבָּנָהbuiltבַיִתa houseעַל־הַקַּרְקַעupon the ground,וְאֵיןand there was noלוֹunto himיְסוֹדfoundation;וַיִּפְרׇץ־בּוֹand burst against itהַנַּחַלthe stream,וַיִּפֹּלand it fellפִּתְאֹםsuddenly,וַיִּגְדַּלand great wasשֶׁבֶרthe ruin ofהַבַּיִתhouseהַהוּא׃that.

    But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
