   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenדָּחַקda/CHAKpressedהֲמוֹןha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְהוּאve/HUand heעֹמֵדo/MEDwas standingעַל־יַדal-yadbesideיָם־גִּנֵּיסָר׃yam-Gin/ne/SARthe sea of Gennesaret

   And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawשְׁתֵּיshtetwoאֳנִיּוֹתo/niy/YOTboatsעֹמְדוֹתom/DOTstandingעַל־יַדal-yadbesideהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוְהַדַּיָּגִיםve/had/day/ya/GIMand the fishermenיָצְאוּya/tse/Uhad gone outמֵהֶןme/HENfrom themוְהֵםve/HEMand theyמְכַבְּסִיםme/khab/be/SIMwere washingאֵת־הַמִּכְמֹרוֹת׃et-ham/mikh/mo/ROTthe nets

   And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

   וַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he went downאֶל־אַחַתel-a/CHATto oneמִן־הׇאֳנִיּוֹתmin-ho/o/niy/YOTof the boatsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִיאhiwasלְשִׁמְעוֹןLe/shim/ONSimon'sוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand he askedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof himלְהַעֲבִירוֹle/ha/a/vi/ROto take it outמְעַטme/ATa littleמִן־הַיַּבָּשָׁהmin-hay/yab/ba/SHAfrom the dry landאֶל־הַיָּםel-hay/YAMinto the seaוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he satוַיְלַמֵּדvay/lam/MEDand taughtאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom insideהׇאֳנִיָּה׃ho/o/niy/YAthe boat

   And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

   Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמוֹרֶהmo/REteacherכׇּל־הַלַּיְלָהkol-hal/LAY/laall the nightיָגַעְנוּya/GA/nuwe have laboredוְלֹאve/LOand notאָחַזְנוּa/chaz/NUwe caughtמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingאַךְakhbutעַל־פִּיךָal-PI/khaat your wordאוֹרִידo/RIDI will let downאֶת־הַמִּכְמֹרֶת׃et-ham/mikh/MO/retthe net

   And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

   וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־כֵןvay/ya/a/SU-khenand they did soוַיִּלְכְּדוּvay/yil/ke/DUand they caughtדָגִיםda/GIMfishהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmanyמְאֹדme/ODveryוַתִּקָּרַעvat/tik/ka/RAand was tornמִכְמַרְתָּם׃mikh/mar/TAMtheir net

   And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

   וַיָּנִיפוּvay/ya/ni/FUand they wavedיָדyada handאֶל־חַבְרֵיהֶםel-chav/re/HEMto their partnersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבׇאֳנִיָּהvo/o/niy/YAin the boatהַשְּׁנִיָהhash/she/ni/YAsecondלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוּלְעׇזְרָםu/le/oz/RAMand to help themוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameוַיְמַלְאוּvay/mal/Uand filledאֶת־שְׁתֵּיet-shtethe twoהׇאֳנִיּוֹתho/o/niy/YOTboatsעַד־לִשְׁקֹעַ׃ad-lish/KO/auntil sinking

   And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand he fellלְבִרְכֵּיle/vir/KEat the knees ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordצֵא־נָאtse-nago out nowמֵעָלַיme/a/LAYfrom meכִּי־אִישׁki-ishfor a manחוֹטֵאcho/TEsinfulאָנֹכִי׃a/no/KHIam I

   When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

   כִּיkiforשַׁמָּהsham/MAastonishmentהֶחֱזִיקָהhe/che/ZI/kahad seizedאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוְאֶת־כֹּלve/ET-koland allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereעִמּוֹim/MOwith himעַל־צֵידal-tsedover the catch ofהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMthe fishאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצָדוּ׃tsa/DUthey had caught

   For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

    וְכֵןve/KHENand soגַּםgamalsoאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJamesוְאֶת־יוֹחָנָןve/ET-yo/cha/NANand Johnבְּנֵיbe/NEsons ofזַבְדַּיZav/DAYZebedeeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִתְחַבְּרוּhit/chab/be/RUwere joinedעִם־שִׁמְעוֹןim-Shim/ONwith Simonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶל־שִׁמְעוֹןel-Shim/ONto Simonאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom now onצוֹדtsodcatchתָּצוּדta/TSUDyou will catchאֲנָשִׁים׃a/na/SHIMmen

    And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

    וַיּוֹלִיכוּvay/yo/li/KHUand they ledאֶת־הׇאֳנִיּוֹתet-ho/o/niy/YOTthe boatsאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁהel-hay/yab/ba/SHAto the dry landוַיַּעַזְבוּvay/ya/az/VUand they leftאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLallוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhile he wasבְּאַחַתbe/a/CHATin one ofהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMthe citiesוְהִנֵּה־אִישׁve/hin/NE-ishand behold a manכֻּלּוֹkul/LOall of himצָרוּעַtsa/RU/aleprousוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand he fellעַל־פָּנָיוal-pa/NAYVon his faceוַיִּתְחַנֵּןvay/yit/chan/NENand pleadedאֵלָיוe/LAYVwith himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordאִם־תַּחְפֹּץim-tach/POTSif you wantתּוּכַלtu/KHALyou are ableלְטַהֲרֵנִי׃le/ta/ha/RE/nicleanse me

    And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he stretched outאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handוַיִּגַּע־בּוֹvay/yig/GA-boand touched himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחָפֵץcha/FETSwillingאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIam Iטְהָרte/HARbe cleanוּפִתְאֹםu/fit/OMand suddenlyסָרָהsa/RAturned asideמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himהַצָּרָעַת׃hats/tsa/RA/atthe leprosy

    And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

14. 14

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedעָלָיוa/LAYVhimלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotסַפֵּרsap/PERto tellלְאִישׁle/ISHany manכִּיkibutאִם־לֵךְim-lekhonly goוְהֵרָאֵהve/he/ra/Eand show yourselfאֶל־הַכֹּהֵןel-hak/ko/HENto the priestוְהַקְרֵבve/hak/REVand offerקׇרְבָּןkor/BANan offeringעַל־טׇהֳרָתְךָal-to/ho/ra/te/KHAfor your cleansingכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלְעֵדוּתle/e/DUTfor a testimonyלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

    And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

    וְשׇׁמְעוֹve/shom/Oand the report of himהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHwentהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoingוְגָדֵלve/ga/DELand growingוַיִּקָּבְצוּvay/yik/ka/ve/TSUand gatheredעַםampeopleרַבravmanyלִשְׁמוֹעַlish/MO/ato hearוּלְהֵרָפֵאu/le/he/ra/FEand to be healedעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOby himמִתַּחֲלוּאֵיהֶם׃mit/ta/cha/lu/e/HEMfrom their infirmities

    But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

16. 16

    וְהוּאve/HUand heסָרsarwithdrewאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּרוֹתel-ham/mid/ba/ROTto the wildernessesוּמִתְפַּלֵּל׃u/mit/pal/LELand was praying

    And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהַיּוֹםhay/YOMone dayוְהוּאve/HUwhile heמְלַמֵּדme/lam/MEDwas teachingוּפְרוּשִׁיםu/Fe/ru/SHIMand Phariseesוּמוֹרֵיu/mo/REand teachers ofהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּאוּBA/uhad comeמִכׇּל־כְּפָרֵיmik/KOL-ke/fa/REfrom all the villages ofהַגָּלִילHag/ga/LILGalileeוּמִיהוּדָהu/Mi/hu/DAand from JudahוִירוּשָׁלָיִםVi/ru/sha/LA/yimand Jerusalemיֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMwere sittingשָׁםshamthereוַתְּהִי־בוֹvat/te/HI-voand there was in himגְּבוּרַתge/vu/RATthe power ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDלִרְפּוֹאlir/POto healאֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judæa, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

18. 18

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenנוֹשְׂאִיםnos/IMcarryingאִישׁisha manבַּמִּטָּהbam/mit/TAon a bedוְהוּאve/HUand heנְכֵהne/KHEwas stricken ofאֵבָרִיםe/va/RIMlimbsוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand they soughtלַהֲבִיאוֹla/ha/vi/Oto bring himאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhinto the midst ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseוְלָשׂוּםve/la/SUMand to set himלְפָנָיו׃le/fa/NAYVbefore him

    And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

19. 19

    וְלֹא־מָצְאוּve/LO-ma/tse/Uand they did not findדֶרֶךְDE/rekha wayלְהַכְנִיסוֹle/hakh/ni/SOto bring him inמֵרֹבme/ROVbecause of the manyהָעָםha/AMpeopleוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUthey went upהַגָּגָהhag/GA/gaonto the roofוַיּוֹרִידֻהוּvay/yo/ri/du/HUand let him downעַל־עַרְשׂוֹal-ar/SOupon his couchבֵּיןbenbetweenהָרְעָפִיםha/re/a/FIMthe tilesלְתוֹךְle/TOKHinto the midst ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

20. 20

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawאֶת־אֱמוּנָתָםet-e/mu/na/TAMtheir faithוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMmanנִסְלְחוּ־לְךָnis/le/CHU-le/KHAare forgiven youחַטֹּאתֶיךָ׃chat/to/te/KHAyour sins

    And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21. 21

    וַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganהַסּוֹפְרִיםhas/sof/RIMthe scribesוְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםve/hap/Pe/ru/SHIMand the Phariseesלַחֲשֹׁבla/cha/SHOVto thinkמַחֲשָׁבוֹתma/cha/sha/VOTthoughtsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמִיmiwhoהוּאhuisזֶהzethisהַמְדַבֵּרham/dab/BERwho speaksגִּדּוּפִיםgid/du/FIMblasphemiesמִיmiwhoיוּכַלyu/KHALcanלִסְלֹחַlis/LO/achto forgiveלַחֲטָאִיםla/cha/ta/IMsinsבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְבַדּוֹ׃le/vad/DOalone

    And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

22. 22

    וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶת־מַחְשְׁבוֹתָםet-mach/she/vo/TAMtheir thoughtsוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמָהmawhatאַתֶּםat/TEMyouחֹשְׁבִיםchosh/VIMthinkingבִּלְבַבְכֶם׃bil/vav/KHEMin your heart

    But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

23. 23

    מָהmawhichהַנָּקֵלhan/na/KELis easierהֶאָמֹרhe/a/MORto sayנִסְלְחוּ־לְךָnis/le/CHU-le/KHAare forgiven youחַטֹּאתֶיךָchat/to/te/KHAyour sinsאִם־אָמֹרim-a/MORor to sayקוּםkumriseוְהִתְהַלֵּךְ׃ve/hit/hal/LEKHand walk

    Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

24. 24

    אַךְakhbutלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּדְעוּןted/UNyou may knowכִּיkithatבֶן־הָאָדָםven-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasהַשָּׁלְטָןhash/sha/le/TANthe authorityבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson the earthלִסְלֹחַlis/LO/achto forgiveלַחֲטָאִיםla/cha/ta/IMsinsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־נְכֵהel-ne/KHEto the man stricken ofהָאֵבָרִיםha/e/va/RIMthe limbsאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youקוּםkumariseוְשָׂאve/SAand take upאֶת־עַרְשְׂךָet-ar/se/KHAyour couchוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goאֶל־בֵּיתֶךָ׃el-be/TE/khato your house

    But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

    וַיְמַהֵרvay/ma/HERand quicklyוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseלְעֵינֵיהֶםle/e/ne/HEMbefore their eyesוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand took upאֵת־מִשְׁכָּבוֹet-mish/ka/VOhis bedוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOto his houseוַיְהַלֵּלvay/hal/LELand praisedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים׃et-ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

26. 26

    וְשַׁמָּהve/sham/MAand astonishmentהֶחֱזִיקָהhe/che/ZI/kaseizedאֶת־כֻּלָּםet-kul/LAMall of themוַיְבָרֲכוּvay/va/ra/KHUand they blessedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uand they were filled withיִרְאָהyir/Afearוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidכִּיkithatנִפְלָאוֹתnif/la/OTwondrous thingsרָאִינוּra/I/nuwe have seenהַיּוֹם׃hay/YOMtoday

    And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterכֵןkhenthisוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEhe went outוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawמוֹכֵסmo/KHESa tax collectorאֶחָדe/CHADoneוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameלֵוִיLe/VILeviוְהוּאve/HUand heיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwas sittingבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַמֶּכֶסham/ME/khesthe tollוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלְכָהle/KHAcomeאַחֲרָי׃a/cha/RAYafter me

    And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.

    וַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLeverythingוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

    וַיַּעַשׂ־לוֹvay/YA/as-loand made for himלֵוִיLe/VILeviמִשְׁתֶּהmish/TEa feastגָדוֹלga/DOLgreatבְּבֵיתוֹbe/ve/TOin his houseוְעַם־רַבve/AM-ravand many peopleמִן־הַמּוֹכְסִיםmin-ham/mokh/SIMof the tax collectorsוַאֲנָשִׁיםva/a/na/SHIMand menאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMothersהָיוּha/YUwereמְסֻבִּיםme/sub/BIMrecliningעִמָּהֶם׃im/ma/HEMwith them

    And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

    וַיִּלּוֹנוּvay/yil/LO/nuand grumbledהַסּוֹפְרִיםhas/sof/RIMthe scribesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereבָּהֶםba/HEMamong themוְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםve/hap/Pe/ru/SHIMand the Phariseesעַל־תַּלְמִידָיוal-tal/mi/DAYVagainst his disciplesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyאַתֶּםat/TEMdo youאֹכְלִיםokh/LIMeatוְשֹׁתִיםve/sho/TIMand drinkעִם־הַמּוֹכְסִיםim-ham/mokh/SIMwith the tax collectorsוְהַחַטָּאִים׃ve/ha/chat/ta/IMand the sinners

    But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31. 31

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַבְּרִיאִיםhab/be/ri/IMthe healthyאֵינָםe/NAMdo notצְרִיכִיםtse/ri/KHIMneedלְרֹפֵאle/ro/FEa physicianכִּיkibutאִם־הַחֹלִים׃im-ha/cho/LIMrather the sick

    And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

32. 32

    לֹאlonotבָאתִיVA/tiI cameלִקְרוֹאlik/ROto callהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMthe righteousלַתְּשׁוּבָהlat/te/shu/VAto repentanceכִּיkibutאִםimratherהַחַטָּאִים׃ha/chat/ta/IMthe sinners

    I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyתַּלְמִידֵיtal/mi/DEthe disciples ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnמַרְבִּיםmar/BIMoftenלָצוּםla/TSUMfastוְאֹמְרִיםve/om/RIMand sayתְּחִנּוֹתte/chin/NOTsupplicationsוְגַםve/GAMand alsoתַּלְמִידֵיtal/mi/DEthe disciples ofהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesעֹשִׂיםo/SIMdoכֵּןkensoוְתַלְמִידֶיךָve/tal/mi/de/KHAand your disciplesאֹכְלִיםokh/LIMeatוְשֹׁתִים׃ve/sho/TIMand drink

    And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהֲתוּכְלוּha/tukh/LUcan youאֲנֹסa/NOSforceבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofהַחֻפָּהha/chup/PAthe canopyלָצוּםla/TSUMto fastוְהֶחָתָןve/he/cha/TANwhile the bridegroomעוֹדֶנּוּo/DEN/nuis stillעִמָּהֶם׃im/ma/HEMwith them

    And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

35. 35

    וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutיָמִיםya/MIMdaysבָּאִיםba/IMare comingוְלֻקַּחve/luk/KACHand will be takenמֵאִתָּםme/it/TAMfrom themהֶחָתָןhe/cha/TANthe bridegroomאָזazthenיָצוּמוּya/tsu/MUthey will fastבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵמָּה׃ha/HEM/mathose

    But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

36. 36

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand he spokeאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themגַּםgamalsoאֶת־הַמָּשָׁלet-ham/ma/SHALthe parableהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֵיןenthere is notאִישׁisha manמַעֲלֶהma/a/LEwho putsמַטְלִיתmat/LITa patchמִבֶּגֶדmib/BE/gedfrom a garmentחָדָשׁcha/DASHnewעַל־בֶּגֶדal-BE/gedupon a garmentבָּלוּיba/LUYworn outכִּיkiforאִםimifכֵּןkensoגַּםgamalsoהֶחָדָשׁhe/cha/DASHthe newיִקָּרֵעַyik/ka/RE/awill tearוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹא־תִשְׁוֶהlo-tish/VEwill not matchמַטְלִיתmat/LITthe patch ofהֶחָדָשׁhe/cha/DASHthe newלַבָּלוּי׃lab/ba/LUYwith the worn out

    And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.

37. 37

    וְאֵיןve/ENand notאִישׁisha manנֹתֵןno/TENputsיַיִןYA/yinwineחָדָשׁcha/DASHnewבְּנֹאדוֹתbe/no/DOTinto skinsבָּלִיםba/LIMworn outכִּיkiforאִםimifכֵּןkensoהַיַּיִןhay/YA/yinthe wineהֶחָדָשׁhe/cha/DASHnewיְבַקַּעye/vak/KAwill burstאֶת־הַנֹּאדוֹתet-han/no/DOTthe skinsוְהוּאve/HUand itיִשָּׁפֵךְyish/sha/FEKHwill be spilledוְהַנֹּאדוֹתve/han/no/DOTand the skinsיֹאבֵדוּ׃yo/VE/duwill perish

    And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

38. 38

    אֲבָלa/VALbutיֻתַּןyut/TANis putהַיַּיִןhay/YA/yinthe wineהֶחָדָשׁhe/cha/DASHnewבְּנֹאדוֹתbe/no/DOTinto skinsחֲדָשִׁיםcha/da/SHIMnewוּשְׁנֵיהֶםu/she/ne/HEMand both of themיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherיִשָּׁמֵרוּ׃yish/sha/me/RUwill be preserved

    But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

39. 39

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverשָׁתָהSHA/tahas drunkיַיִןYA/yinwineיָשָׁןya/SHANoldאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nudoes notחָפֵץcha/FETSdesireמִיָּדmiy/YADstraightwayעוֹדodanymoreבְּיַיִןbe/YA/yinwineחָדָשׁcha/DASHnewכִּיkiforיֹאמַרyo/MARhe saysהַיָּשָׁןhay/ya/SHANthe oldטוֹבtovis betterמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/numore than it

    No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
