   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseכׇּל־קְהָלָםkol-ke/ha/LAMall their assemblyוַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּvay/yo/li/KHU/huand led himאֶל־פִּילָטוֹס׃el-Pi/la/TOSto Pilate

   And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

   וַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himשִׂטְנָהsit/NAaccusationלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֶת־זֶהet-zethis oneמָצָאנוּma/TSA/nuwe foundמֵסִיתme/SITincitingאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוּמֹנֵעַu/MO/ne/aand forbiddingאוֹתוֹo/TOitמִתֵּתmit/TETto giveמַסmastaxלְקֵיסַרle/Ke/SARto Caesarבְּאׇמְרוֹbe/om/ROsayingכִּיkithatהוּאhuheמֶלֶךְME/lekhis a kingהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

   And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

   וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּvay/yish/a/LE/huand asked himפִילָטוֹסFi/la/TOSPilateלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַתָּהat/TAyouאָמָרְתָּ׃a/mar/TAhave said

   And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפִּילָטוֹסPi/la/TOSPilateאֶל־רָאשֵׁיel-ra/SHEto the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְאֶל־הֲמוֹןve/EL-ha/MONand to the crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלֹא־מָצָאתִיlo-ma/TSA/tiI do not findאַשְׁמָהash/MAguiltבָּאִישׁba/ISHin the manהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

   וְהֵםve/HEMand theyהִתְאַמְּצוּhit/am/me/TSUgrew strongלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERin speakingמַדִּיחַmad/DI/achstirs upהוּאhuheאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleבְּלַמְּדוֹbe/lam/me/DOin his teachingבְּכׇל־יְהוּדָהbe/KHOL-ye/hu/DAin all Judaeaהָחֵלha/CHELbeginningמִן־הַגָּלִילmin-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeוְעַד־הֵנָּה׃ve/AD-HEN/naand to here

   And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardפִּילָטוֹסPi/la/TOSPilateאֶת־שֵׁםet-shemthe name ofהַגָּלִילHag/ga/LILGalileeוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand he askedאִם־הוּאim-huif heאִישׁisha manגְּלִילִי׃Ge/li/LIGalilean

   When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.

   וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand as soon asיָדַעya/DAhe knewכִּי־מִמֶּמְשֶׁלֶתki-mim/mem/SHE/letthat from the jurisdiction ofהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodהוּאhuhe wasשְׁלָחוֹshe/la/CHOhe sent himאֶל־הוֹרְדוֹסel-Hor/DOSto Herodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAwasגַם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoבִּירוּשָׁלַיִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimat Jerusalemבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

   And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

   וַיִּשְׂמַחvay/yis/MACHand rejoicedהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODgreatlyכִּרְאוֹתוֹkir/o/TOwhen he sawאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusכִּיkibecauseמִיָּמִיםmiy/ya/MIMfor daysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyהִתְאַוָּהhit/av/VAhe had desiredלִרְאֹתlir/OTto seeאֹתוֹo/TOhimכִּי־שָׁמַעki-sha/MAfor he had heardאֶת־שׇׁמְעוֹet-shom/Othe report of himוַיְקַוvay/KAVand he hopedלִרְאֹתlir/OTto seeאוֹתota signאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיַעֲשֶׂה׃ya/a/SEhe would do

   And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

   וַיֶּרֶבvay/YE/revand he multipliedלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto askאוֹתוֹo/TOwith himוְהוּאve/HUand heלֹא־הֵשִׁיבlo-he/SHIVdid not answerאֹתוֹo/TOhimדָּבָר׃da/VARa word

   Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

    וַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand stoodרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesוַיִּתְחַזְּקוּvay/yit/chaz/ze/KUand they were strongלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himשִׂטְנָה׃sit/NAaccusation

    And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

    וַיִּבֶזvay/YI/vezand despisedאֹתוֹo/TOhimהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodהוּאhuheוְצִבְאוֹתָיוve/tsiv/o/TAYVand his troopsוַיְהָתֶל־בּוֹvay/HA/tel-boand mocked himוַיַּלְבֵּשׁvay/yal/BESHand clothedאוֹתוֹo/TOhimבֶּגֶדBE/gedin a garment ofחֲמֻדוֹתcha/mu/DOTgorgeousוַיִּשְׁלָחֵהוּvay/yish/la/CHE/huand sent him backאֶל־פִּילָטוֹס׃el-Pi/la/TOSto Pilate

    And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUbecameפִּילָטוֹסPi/la/TOSPilateוְהוֹרְדוֹסve/Hor/DOSand Herodאֹהֲבִיםo/ha/VIMfriendsזֶהzethis oneלָזֶהla/ZEto that oneכִּיkiforלְפָנִיםle/fa/NIMformerlyאֵיבָהe/VAenmityבֵינֵיהֶם׃ve/ne/HEMbetween them

    And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledפִילָטוֹסFi/la/TOSPilateאֶת־רָאשֵׁיet-ra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְאֶת־הַשָּׂרִיםve/ET-has/sa/RIMand the rulersוְאֶת־הָעָם׃ve/ET-ha/AMand the people

    And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהֲבֵאתֶםha/ve/TEMyou have broughtלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYto meאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכְּמֵסִיתke/me/SITas one incitingאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIחֲקַרְתִּיוcha/kar/TIVhave examined himלְעֵינֵיכֶםle/e/ne/KHEMbefore youוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָאתִיma/TSA/tihave foundבָּאִישׁba/ISHin the manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכׇּל־אַשְׁמָהkol-ash/MAany guiltמִן־הַדְּבָרִיםmin-had/de/va/RIMof the thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאַתֶּםat/TEMyouטוֹעֲנִיםto/a/NIMchargeאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

15. 15

    וְגַם־הוֹרְדוֹסve/GAM-hor/DOSand also Herodלֹאlonotמָצָאma/TSAfoundכִּיkiforשָׁלַחְתִּיsha/LACH/tiI sentאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֵין־חֵטְאen-chetthere is no sin ofמָוֶתMA/vetdeathלָאִישׁla/ISHin the manהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

16. 16

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאֲיַסְּרֶנּוּa/yas/se/ren/NUI will chastise himוְאַתִּירֶנּוּ׃ve/at/ti/ren/NUand release him

    I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

17. 17

    וְלוֹve/LOand heהָיָהha/YAhadלְהַתִּירle/hat/TIRto releaseלָהֶםla/HEMto themחָבוּשׁcha/VUSHprisonerאֶחָדe/CHADoneבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofהֶחָג׃he/CHAGthe feast

    (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

18. 18

    וַיִּצְעֲקוּvay/yits/a/KUand cried outכׇל־הֲמוֹנָםkhol-ha/mo/NAMall their crowdוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהָסֵרha/SERtake awayאֶת־זֶהet-zethis oneוְהַתֵּרve/hat/TERand releaseלָנוּLA/nuto usאֵת־בַּר־אַבָּא׃et-Bar-ab/BABarabbas

    And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

19. 19

    וְהוּאve/HUand heהָיָהha/YAwasאָסוּרa/SURboundבֵּיתbetin the house ofהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leconfinementעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARon account ofמֶרֶדME/reda rebellionאֲשֶׁר־נִהְיָהa/SHER-nih/YAthat happenedבָעִירva/IRin the cityוְעַל־רָצַח׃ve/AL-ra/TSACHand for murder

    (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

20. 20

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againפִּילָטוֹסPi/la/TOSPilateוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכִּיkibecauseחָפֵץcha/FETShe wantedלְהַתִּירle/hat/TIRto releaseאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ׃et-Ye/SHU/aJesus

    Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

21. 21

    וְהֵמָּהve/HEM/mabut theyקָרְאוּka/re/Ucalled outלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַצְלֵבhats/LEVcrucifyאוֹתוֹo/TOhimהַצְלֵב׃hats/LEVcrucify

    But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themפַּעַםPA/ama timeשְׁלִישִׁיתshe/li/SHITthirdמֶהmewhatעָשָׂהa/SAhas he doneזֶהzethis oneרָעָהra/Aevilכׇּל־מִשְׁפַּטkol-mish/PATany sentence ofמָוֶתMA/vetdeathלֹא־מָצָאתִיlo-ma/TSA/tiI have not foundבוֹvoin himעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאֲיַסְּרֶנּוּa/yas/se/ren/NUI will chastise himוְאַתִּירֶנּוּ׃ve/at/ti/ren/NUand release him

    And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

    וַיִּפְצְרוּvay/yif/tse/RUand they pressedבוֹvoupon himבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith voicesגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand askedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִצָּלֵבyits/tsa/LEVhe be crucifiedוַיֶּחֱזַקvay/ye/che/ZAKand prevailedקוֹלָםko/LAMtheir voiceוְקוֹלve/KOLand the voice ofרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִים׃hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priests

    And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

    וַיִּגְזֹרvay/yig/ZORand decreedפִּילָטוֹסPi/la/TOSPilateאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתֵּעָשֶׂהte/a/SEbe doneבַּקָּשָׁתָם׃bak/ka/sha/TAMtheir request

    And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

    וַיַּתֵּרvay/yat/TERand he releasedלָהֶםla/HEMto themאֶת־הַנָּתוּןet-han/na/TUNthe one putבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהָאֲסוּרִיםha/a/su/RIMthe prisonersעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARon account ofמֶרֶדME/redseditionוָרֶצַחva/RE/tsachand murderאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhomשָׁאָלוּsha/A/luthey askedוְאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַve/ET-ye/SHU/aand Jesusנָתַןna/TANhe gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doבּוֹboto himכִּרְצוֹנָם׃kir/tso/NAMaccording to their will

    And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asהוֹלִיכֻהוּho/li/khu/HUthey led himמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוַיַּחֲזִיקוּvay/ya/cha/ZI/kuand they seizedבְּאִישׁbe/ISHa manאֶחָדe/CHADoneהַבָּאhab/BAwho cameמִן־הַשָּׂדֶהmin-has/sa/DEfrom the fieldוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonאִישׁisha man ofקוּרִינִיKu/ri/NICyreneוַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/muand they putעָלָיוa/LAYVon himאֶת־הַצְּלוּבet-hats/tse/LUVthe crossלָשֵׂאתla/SETto carryאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVhimהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעַם־רָבam-ravmany peopleוַהֲמוֹןva/ha/MONand a crowd ofנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwomenוְהֵנָּהve/HEN/naand theyסֹפְדוֹתsof/DOTmournedוּמְקוֹנֲנוֹתu/me/ko/na/NOTand lamentedעָלָיו׃a/LAYVover him

    And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶןa/le/HENto themבְּנוֹתbe/NOTdaughters ofיְרוּשָׁלַיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemאַל־תִּבְכֶּינָהal-tiv/ke/NAdo not weepעָלַיa/LAYfor meכִּי־עַל־נַפְשְׁכֶןki-al-naf/she/KHENbut for yourselvesבְּכֶינָהbe/KHE/naweepוְעַל־בְּנֵיכֶן׃ve/AL-be/ne/KHENand for your children

    But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָמִיםya/MIMdaysבָּאִיםba/IMare comingוְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand they will sayאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessedהָעֲקָרוֹתha/a/ka/ROTthe barrenוְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessedהַמֵּעַיִםham/me/A/yimthe wombsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיָלָדוּya/LA/duboreוְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessedהַשָּׁדַיִםhash/sha/DA/yimthe breastsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotהֵינִיקוּ׃he/NI/kunursed

    For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

    אָזazthenיָחֵלּוּya/chel/LUthey will beginלֵאמֹרle/MORto sayאֶל־הֶהָרִיםel-he/ha/RIMto the mountainsנִפְלוּnif/LUfallעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuon usוְאֶל־הַגְּבָעוֹתve/EL-hag/ge/va/OTand to the hillsכַּסּוּנוּ׃kas/SU/nucover us

    Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

31. 31

    כִּיkiforאִם־כָּכָהim-KA/khaif thusיַעֲשׂוּya/a/SUthey doבָּעֵץba/ETSto the treeהַלָּחhal/LACHmoistמַה־יֵּעָשֶׂהma-ye/a/SEwhat will be doneבַּיָּבֵשׁ׃bay/ya/VESHto the dry

    For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

32. 32

    וְגַם־שְׁנַיִםve/GAM-she/NA/yimand also twoאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMothersאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofרֶשַׁעRE/shawickednessמוּצָאִיםmu/tsa/IMwere led outלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

    And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

33. 33

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenבָּאוּBA/uthey cameאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMto the placeהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledגֻּלְגָּלְתָּאGul/gal/TACalvaryוַיִּצְלְבוּvay/yits/le/VUthey crucifiedאֹתוֹo/TOhimשָׁםshamthereוְאֶת־אַנְשֵׁיve/ET-an/SHEand the men ofהָרֶשַׁעha/RE/shawickednessאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִימִינוֹmi/mi/NOon his rightוְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneמִשְּׂמֹאלוֹ׃mis/se/mo/LOon his left

    And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאָבִיA/VImy Fatherסְלַחse/LACHforgiveלָהֶםla/HEMthemכִּיkiforאֵינָםe/NAMthey do notיֹדְעִיםyod/IMknowמָהmawhatהֵםhemtheyעֹשִׂיםo/SIMare doingוַיְחַלְּקוּvay/chal/le/KUand they dividedבְגָדָיוve/ga/DAYVhis garmentsלָהֶםla/HEMamong themוַיַּפִּילוּvay/yap/PI/luand they castגוֹרָל׃go/RALlots

    Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

35. 35

    וְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleעֹמֵדo/MEDstoodוְרֹאֶהve/ro/Eand watchedוַיַּלְעִיגוּ־לוֹvay/yal/i/GU-loand mocked himהַשָּׂרִיםhas/sa/RIMthe rulersלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֶת־אֲחֵרִיםet-a/che/RIMothersהוֹשִׁיעַho/SHI/ahe savedיוֹשַׁע־נָאyo/SHA-nalet him save nowנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhimselfאִם־הוּאim-huif he isהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahבְּחִירbe/CHIRthe chosen ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

    וַיְהָתֵלּוּvay/ha/TEL/luand mockedבוֹvohimאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַצָּבָאhats/tsa/VAthe armyוַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand they came nearוַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand broughtלוֹloto himחֹמֶץ׃CHO/metsvinegar

    And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

37. 37

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִם־אַתָּהim-at/TAif youהוּאhuareמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsהוֹשַׁעho/SHAsaveנַפְשֶׁךָ׃naf/SHE/khayourself

    And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

38. 38

    וְגַם־מִכְתָּבve/GAM-mikh/TAVand also an inscriptionהָיָהha/YAwasמִמַּעַלmim/MA/alaboveלוֹlohimבִּכְתָבbikh/TAVin the script ofיְוָנִיYe/va/NIGreekוְרוֹמִיve/Ro/MIand Latinוְעִבְרִיve/Iv/RIand HebrewזֶהzethisהוּאhuisמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofהַיְּהוּדִים׃hay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jews

    And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

    וְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneמֵאַנְשֵׁיme/an/SHEof the men ofהָרֶשַׁעha/RE/shawickednessהַתְּלוּיִםhat/te/lu/YIMwho were hangedגִּדֵּףgid/DEFreviledאֹתוֹo/TOhimלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִםimifאַתָּהat/TAyou areהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahהוֹשַׁעho/SHAsaveעַצְמְךָats/me/KHAyourselfוְאֹתָנוּ׃ve/o/TA/nuand us

    And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40. 40

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהָאַחֵרha/a/CHERthe otherוַיִּגְעַר־בּוֹvay/yig/AR-boand rebuked himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהֲלֹאha/LOdo notתִירָאti/RAyou fearאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodכִּיkiforעָנְשׁוֹa/ne/SHOhis punishmentעָנְשֶׁךָ׃a/ne/she/KHAis your punishment

    But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41. 41

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweכַּמִּשְׁפָּטkam/mish/PATjustlyכִּיkiforלָקַחְנוּla/KACH/nuwe receivedכִּגְמוּלkig/MULaccording to the recompense ofיָדֵינוּya/DE/nuour handsוְהָאִישׁve/ha/ISHand the manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלֹא־עָשָׂהlo-a/SAhas not doneמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingרָע׃raevil

    And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

42. 42

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַel-Ye/SHU/ato Jesusזׇכְרֵנִי־נָאzokh/RE/ni-naremember me nowאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordבְּבֹאֲךָbe/vo/a/KHAwhen you comeבְּמַלְכוּתֶךָ׃be/mal/khu/TE/khainto your kingdom

    And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43. 43

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלְךָle/KHAto youכִּיkithatהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayתִּהְיֶהtih/YEyou will beעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meבְּגַן־עֵדֶן׃be/GAN-E/denin the garden of Eden

    And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

44. 44

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasכַּשָּׁעָהkash/sha/Aabout the hourהַשִּׁשִּׁיתhash/shish/SHITthe sixthוְהִנֵּה־חֹשֶׁךְve/hin/NE-CHO/shekhand behold darknessעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץal-kol-ha/A/retsover all the earthעַדaduntilהַשָּׁעָהhash/sha/Athe hourהַתְּשִׁיעִית׃hat/te/shi/ITthe ninth

    And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

45. 45

    וַיֶּחְשַׁךְvay/yech/SHAKHand darkenedהַשָּׁמֶשׁhash/SHA/meshthe sunוּפָרֹכֶתu/fa/RO/khetand the veil ofהַהֵיכָלha/he/KHALthe sanctuaryנִקְרְעָהnik/re/Awas tornלִשְׁנַיִםlish/NA/yimin twoקְרָעִים׃ke/ra/IMpieces

    And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

46. 46

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand called outיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָבִיA/VImy Fatherבְּיָדְךָbe/ya/de/KHAinto Your handאַפְקִידaf/KIDI commendרוּחִיru/CHImy spiritוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלּוֹתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingוַיִּפַּחvay/yip/PACHand he breathed outנַפְשׁוֹ׃naf/SHOhis soul

    And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

47. 47

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawשַׂר־הַמֵּאָהsar-ham/me/Athe centurionאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatנִהְיָתָהnih/YA/tahad happenedוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand he gaveכָּבוֹדka/VODgloryלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisצַדִּיקtsad/DIKrighteousהָיָה׃ha/YAwas

    Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

48. 48

    וְכׇל־הֲמוֹןve/KHOL-ha/MONand all the crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִתְאַסְּפוּhit/as/se/FUhad gatheredלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeהַמַּרְאֶהham/mar/Ethe sightהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּהַבִּיטָםbe/hab/bi/TAMwhen they lookedאֶל־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרel-kol-a/SHERat all thatנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAwas doneתּוֹפֲפוּto/fa/FUbeatעַל־לִבָּםal-lib/BAMon their heartוַיָּשׁוּבוּ׃vay/ya/SHU/vuand returned

    And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

49. 49

    וְכׇל־מְיֻדָּעָיוve/KHOL-me/yud/da/AYVand all his acquaintancesעָמְדוּa/me/DUstoodמֵרָחוֹקme/ra/CHOKafar offוְגַם־הַנָּשִׁיםve/GAM-han/na/SHIMand also the womenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwentאִתּוֹit/TOwith himמִן־הַגָּלִילmin-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeוְעֵינֵיהֶןve/e/ne/HENand their eyesרֹאוֹתro/OTseeingאֶת־אֵלֶּה׃et-EL/lethese things

    And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

50. 50

    וְהִנֵּה־אִישׁve/hin/NE-ishand behold a manוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוְהוּאve/HUand heמִן־הַיֹּעֲצִיםmin-hay/yo/a/TSIMof the counselorsאִישׁisha manטוֹבtovgoodוְצַדִּיק׃ve/tsad/DIKand righteous

    And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

51. 51

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־נָטָהlo-na/TAdid not turnאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterעֲצָתָםa/tsa/TAMtheir counselוּפׇעֳלָםu/fo/o/LAMand their deedמִן־הָרָמָתַיִםmin-Ha/ra/ma/TA/yimfrom Arimathaeaעִירira city ofהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsוְהוּאve/HUand heמְחַכֶּהme/chak/KEwas waitingלְמַלְכוּתle/mal/KHUTfor the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

52. 52

    וַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand he approachedאֶל־פִּילָטוֹסel-Pi/la/TOSto Pilateוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand askedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof himאֵת־גְּוִיַּתet-ge/viy/YATthe body ofיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

53. 53

    וַיּוֹרֶדvay/YO/redand he brought downאֹתָהּo/TAitוַיִּכְרְכֶהָvay/yikh/re/khe/HAand wrapped itבִסְדִינִיםvis/di/NIMin linen sheetsוַיְשִׂימֶהָvay/si/ME/haand laid itבְקֶבֶרve/KE/verin a tombחָצוּבcha/TSUVhewnבַּסָּלַעbas/SA/lain the rockאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעֲדֶןa/DENyetלֹאlonotהוּשַׂם־בּוֹhu/SAM-bowas laid in itאָדָם׃a/DAMa man

    And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

54. 54

    וְהַיּוֹםve/hay/YOMand the dayעֶרֶבE/revwas the eve ofשַׁבָּתshab/BATthe sabbathוְהַשַּׁבָּתve/hash/shab/BATand the sabbathהִגִּיעָה׃hig/gi/Awas arriving

    And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

55. 55

    וּמִן־הַנָּשִׁיםu/MIN-han/na/SHIMand of the womenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּאוּBA/ucameאִתּוֹit/TOwith himמִן־הַגָּלִילmin-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeהֹלְכוֹתhol/KHOTwalkingאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוַתִּרְאֶינָהvat/tir/E/naand they sawאֶת־הַקֶּבֶרet-hak/KE/verthe tombוְאֶתve/ETandאֲשֶׁרa/SHERhowהוּשַׂם־בּוֹhu/SAM-bowas laid in itגְּוִיָּתוֹ׃ge/viy/ya/TOhis body

    And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

56. 56

    וַתָּשֹׁבְנָהvat/ta/SHOV/naand they returnedוַתָּכֵנָּהvat/ta/khen/NAand they preparedסַמִּיםsam/MIMspicesוּמִרְקָחוֹתu/mir/ka/CHOTand perfumesוּבַשַּׁבָּתu/vash/shab/BATand on the sabbathשָׁבְתוּsha/ve/TUthey restedכַמִּצְוָה׃kham/mits/VAaccording to the commandment

    And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
