1. 1

   וַיִּקְרַבvay/yik/RAVand drew nearחַגchagthe feast ofהַמַּצּוֹתham/mats/TSOTunleavened breadהוּאhuwhich isחַגchagthe feast ofהַפָּסַח׃hap/PA/sachthe Passover

   Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.

2. 2

   וְרָאשֵׁיve/ra/SHEand the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesמְבַקְשִׁיםme/vak/SHIMwere seekingאֵיךְekhhowיַהַרְגֻהוּya/har/gu/HUthey could kill himכִּיkiforיָרְאוּya/re/Uthey fearedמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

   And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

   וְהַשָּׂטָןve/has/Sa/TANand Satanנִכְנַסnikh/NASenteredבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAinto Judasהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledאִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹתIsh-ke/riy/YOTIscariotוְהוּאve/HUand he wasאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִשְּׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂר׃mish/she/NEM-he/a/SARof the twelve

   Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיִּוָּעַץvay/yiv/va/ATSand consultedעִם־רָאשֵׁיim-ra/SHEwith the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַשָּׂרִיםve/has/sa/RIMand the officersאֵיךְekhhowיִמְסְרֶנּוּyim/se/ren/NUhe might deliver himבְּיָדָם׃be/ya/DAMinto their hand

   And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.

   וַיִּשְׂמָחוּvay/yis/MA/chuand they were gladוַיֵּאֹתוּvay/ye/O/tuand they agreedלָתֶת־לוֹLA/tet-loto give himכָסֶף׃KHA/sefmoney

   And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

   וַיַּבְטַחvay/yav/TACHand he promisedאֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand soughtתּוֹאֲנָהto/a/NAan opportunityלְמָסְרוֹle/ma/se/ROto deliver himאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themבְּסֵתֶרbe/SE/terin secretוְלֹא־בִפְנֵיve/LO-vif/NEand not beforeהֶהָמוֹן׃he/ha/MONthe crowd

   And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameיוֹםyomthe day ofהַמַּצּוֹתham/mats/TSOTunleavened breadאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִזָּבַח־בּוֹyiz/za/VACH-bois slaughtered on itהַפָּסַח׃hap/PA/sachthe Passover

   Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentאֶת־פֶּטְרוֹסet-Pet/ROSPeterוְאֶת־יוֹחָנָןve/ET-yo/cha/NANand Johnלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלְכוּle/KHUgoוְהָכִינוּve/ha/KHI/nuand prepareלָנוּLA/nufor usאֶת־הַפֶּסַחet-Hap/PE/sachthe Passoverוְנֹאכֵלָה׃ve/no/KHE/laand let us eat

   And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֵיפֹהe/FOwhereתַחְפֹּץtach/POTSdo you wantוְנָכִיןve/na/KHINand we will prepareאוֹתוֹ׃o/TOit

   And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַתֶּםat/TEMyouבָּאִיםba/IMare comingהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityוּפָגַעu/fa/GAand will meetאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאִישׁisha manנֹשֵׂאno/SEcarryingצַפַּחַתtsap/PA/chata jar ofמָיִםMA/yimwaterלְכוּle/KHUgoאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himאֶל־הַבָּיִתel-hab/BA/yitinto the houseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָבוֹאya/VOhe entersבוֹ׃vointo it

    And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.

    וַאֲמַרְתֶּםva/a/mar/TEMand you shall sayאֶל־בַּעַלel-BA/alto the master ofהַבָּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseכֹּהkothusאָמַר־לְךָa/MAR-le/KHAsays to youהָרַבha/RAVthe teacherאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isהַמָּלוֹןham/ma/LONthe lodgingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereאֹכְלָה־שָּׁםokh/LA-shamI may eat thereאֶת־הַפֶּסַחet-Hap/PE/sachthe Passoverעִם־תַּלְמִידָי׃im-tal/mi/DAYwith my disciples

    And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

12. 12

    וְהוּאve/HUand heיַרְאֶהyar/Ewill showאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouעֲלִיָּהa/liy/YAan upper roomגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAlargeמֻצָּעָהmuts/tsa/Aspreadשָׁםshamthereתָּכִינוּ׃ta/khi/NUprepare

    And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentוַיִּמְצְאוּvay/yim/tse/Uand foundכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe had spokenאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוַיָּכִינוּvay/ya/KHI/nuand they preparedאֶת־הַפָּסַח׃et-Hap/PA/sachthe Passover

    And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenהִגִּיעָהhig/gi/Ahad comeהַשָּׁעָהhash/sha/Athe hourוַיָּסֶבvay/YA/sevand reclinedהוּאhuheוּשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרu/she/NEM-a/SARand the twelveהַשְּׁלִיחִיםhash/she/li/CHIMapostlesאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

    And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themנִכְסֹףnikh/SOFlongנִכְסַפְתִּיnikh/saf/TII have longedלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youאֶת־הַפֶּסַחet-Hap/PE/sachthe Passoverהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeעֻנּוֹתִי׃un/no/TImy suffering

    And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

16. 16

    כִּי־אֹמֵרki-o/MERfor sayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotאֹכַלo/KHALwill I eatאוֹתוֹo/TOitעוֹדodany moreעַדaduntilכִּי־יִמָּלֵאki-yim/MA/leit is fulfilledבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTin the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17. 17

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאֶת־הַכּוֹסet-hak/KOSthe cupוַיּוֹדֶהvay/yo/DEand gave thanksוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidקְחוּke/CHUtakeאֹתָהּo/TAitוַחֲלֹקוּva/cha/lo/KUand divideבֵּינֵיכֶם׃be/ne/KHEMamong yourselves

    And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

18. 18

    כִּי־אֹמֵרki-o/MERfor sayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youשָׁתֹהsha/TOdrinkלֹאlonotאֶשְׁתֶּהesh/TEwill I drinkמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom nowמִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof the fruit ofהַגֶּפֶןhag/GE/fenthe vineעַדaduntilכִּי־תָבוֹאki-ta/VOcomesמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

19. 19

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאֶת־הַלֶּחֶםet-hal/LE/chemthe breadוַיּוֹדֶהvay/yo/DEand gave thanksוַיִּבְצַעvay/yiv/TSAand brokeוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidזֶהzethisגוּפִיgu/FImy bodyהַנִּתָּןhan/nit/TANthat is givenבַּעַדְכֶםba/ad/KHEMfor youזֹאתzotthisעֲשׂוּa/SUdoלְזִכְרִי׃le/zikh/RIfor my remembrance

    And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

20. 20

    וְכֵןve/KHENand soגַּם־אֶת־הַכּוֹסgam-et-hak/KOSalso the cupאַחַרa/CHARafterהַסְּעוּדָהhas/se/u/DAthe supperלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingזוֹzothisהַכּוֹסhak/KOSthe cupהִיאhiisהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantהַחֲדָשָׁהha/cha/da/SHAnewבְּדָמִיbe/da/MIin my bloodהַנִּשְׁפָּךְhan/nish/PAKHthat is poured outבַּעַדְכֶם׃ba/ad/KHEMfor you

    Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

21. 21

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיַד־הַמֹּסֵרyad-ham/mo/SERthe hand of him who deliversאוֹתִיo/TImeאִתִּיit/TIwith meעַל־הַשֻּׁלְחָן׃al-hash/shul/CHANon the table

    But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

22. 22

    כִּיkiforהֵןhenbeholdבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manהֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoesכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנֶחֱרָץne/che/RATSit was decreedעָלָיוa/LAYVconcerning himאֲבָלa/VALbutאוֹיoywoeלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOby his handיִמָּסַר׃yim/ma/SARhe is delivered

    And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!

23. 23

    וְהֵםve/HEMand theyהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganלַחֲקֹרla/cha/KORto inquireאִישׁisheach manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּet-re/E/huwith his neighborמִי־הוּאmi-huwho is itזֶהzethisמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיַעֲשֶׂה־זֹּאת׃ya/a/SE-zotwould do this

    And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

24. 24

    וְגַם־מְרִיבָהve/GAM-me/ri/VAand also a strifeהָיְתָהha/ye/TAthere wasבֵינֵיהֶםve/ne/HEMamong themמִיmiwhoיֵחָשֵׁבye/cha/SHEVwould be countedהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatestבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMamong them

    And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMthe Gentilesרֹדִיםro/DIMruleבָּהֶםba/HEMover themוְשַׁלִּיטֵיהֶםve/shal/li/te/HEMand their rulersעֹשֵׂיo/SEdoers ofחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REis calledלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

    And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26. 26

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMbut youלֹא־כֵןlo-khennot soכִּיkibutהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatestבָּכֶםba/KHEMamong youיִהְיֶהyih/YElet him beכַצָּעִירkhats/tsa/IRlike the youngestוְהַמַּנְהִיגve/ham/man/HIGand the leaderכַּמְשָׁרֵת׃kam/sha/RETlike the one who serves

    But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

27. 27

    כִּיkiforמִיmiwhoהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLis greaterהַמֵּסֵבham/me/SEVthe one who reclinesאוֹoorהַמְשָׁרֵתham/sha/RETthe one who servesהֲלֹאha/LOis notהַמֵּסֵבham/me/SEVthe one who reclinesוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold meבְתוֹכֲכֶםve/to/kha/KHEMamong youכְּמוֹke/MOlikeהַמְשָׁרֵת׃ham/sha/RETthe one who serves

    For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

28. 28

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youהֵםhemare theyהָעֹמְדִיםha/om/DIMwho have stoodעִמִּיim/MIwith meעַד־עַתָּהad-at/TAuntil nowבְּנִסְיוֹנֹתָי׃be/nis/yo/no/TAYin my trials

    Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

29. 29

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֲנִיa/NIIמַנְחִילman/CHILgive as an inheritanceאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouהַמַּלְכוּתham/mal/KHUTthe kingdomכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהִנְחִילַנִיhin/chi/la/NIgave me as an inheritanceאָבִי׃A/VImy Father

    And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

30. 30

    לְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֹּאכְלוּto/khe/LUyou may eatוְתִשְׁתּוּve/tish/TUand drinkעַל־שֻׁלְחָנִיal-shul/cha/NIat my tableבְּמַלְכוּתִיbe/mal/khu/TIin my kingdomוִישַׁבְתֶּםvi/shav/TEMand you will sitעַל־כִּסְאוֹתal-kis/OTon thronesלִשְׁפֹּטlish/POTjudgingאֶת־שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרet-she/NEM-a/SARthe twelveשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe LordשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁאַלsha/ALhas askedלוֹlofor himselfהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanלִזְרוֹתliz/ROTto winnowאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכַּחִטִּים׃ka/chit/TIMas wheat

    And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32. 32

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iהִתְפַּלַּלְתִּיhit/pal/lal/TIhave prayedבַעַדְךָva/ad/KHAfor youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־תִכְלֶהlo-tikh/LEwill not failאֱמוּנָתֶךְe/mu/NA/tekhyour faithוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenתָּשׁוּבta/SHUVyou returnבִּתְשׁוּבָהbit/shu/VAin repentanceחַזֵּקchaz/ZEKstrengthenאֶת־אַחֶיךָ׃et-a/CHE/khayour brothers

    But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold meנָכוֹןna/KHONreadyלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאִתְּךָit/te/KHAwith youגַּםgambothלְבֵיתle/VETinto the house ofהָאֲסוּרִיםha/a/su/RIMthe prisonersגַּםgamandלַמָּוֶת׃lam/MA/vetto death

    And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand he saidאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלְךָle/KHAto youפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterלֹא־יִקְרָאlo-yik/RAwill not crowתַרְנְגֹלtar/ne/GOLa roosterהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayעַדadbeforeכִּי־כִּחַשְׁתָּki-ki/chash/TAyou have deniedבִּיbimeשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotיְדַעְתִּיו׃ye/da/TIVI know him

    And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

35. 35

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenשָׁלַחְתִּיsha/LACH/tiI sentאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּלִי־כִיסbe/LI-khiswithout a purseוְתַרְמִילve/tar/MILand a bagוּנְעָלִיםu/ne/a/LIMand sandalsהַחֲסַרְתֶּםha/cha/sar/TEMdid you lackדָּבָרda/VARa thingוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלֹאlonotחָסַרְנוּcha/SAR/nuwe lackedכֹּל׃kolanything

    And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36. 36

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאָכֵןa/KHENbutעַתָּהat/TAnowאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lowhoever hasכִיסkhisa purseיִשָּׂאֵהוּyis/sa/E/hulet him carry itוְכֵןve/KHENand soגַּם־אֶת־הַתַּרְמִילgam-et-hat/tar/MILalso the bagוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverאֵין־לוֹen-lohas noneהוּאhuheיִמְכֹּרyim/KORlet him sellאֶת־בִּגְדוֹet-big/DOhis garmentוְיִקְנֶהve/yik/NEand buyחָרֶב׃CHA/reva sword

    Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

37. 37

    כִּי־אֹמֵרki-o/MERfor sayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youשֶׁצָּרִיךְshets/tsa/RIKHthat it is necessaryעוֹדodstillשֶׁיִּמָּלֵאshey/yim/MA/lethat be fulfilledבִיviin meהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthe written wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְאֶת־פֹּשְׁעִיםve/ET-posh/IMand with transgressorsנִמְנָהnim/NAhe was reckonedכִּיkiforגַם־הַכָּתוּבgam-hak/ka/TUValso what is writtenעָלַיa/LAYconcerning meבָּאbahas comeעַד־קִצּוֹ׃ad-kits/TSOto its end

    For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordהִנֵּה־פֹהhin/NE-fobehold hereשְׁתֵּיshtetwoחֲרָבוֹתcha/ra/VOTswordsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themדַּי׃dayenough

    And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

39. 39

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentכְּיוֹםke/YOMas dayבְּיוֹםbe/YOMby dayאֶל־הַרel-harto the mount ofהַזֵּיתִיםHaz/ze/TIMOlivesוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himגַּם־תַּלְמִידָיו׃gam-tal/mi/DAYVhis disciples also

    And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

40. 40

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMat the placeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהִתְפַּלֲלוּhit/pa/la/LUprayשֶׁלֹּאshel/LOthat notתָבֹאוּta/VO/uyou enterלִידֵיli/DEinto the hands ofנִסָּיוֹן׃nis/sa/YONtemptation

    And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

    וְהוּאve/HUand heנִפְרַדnif/RADseparatedמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themהַרְחֵקhar/CHEKfarכִּקְלֹעַkik/LO/alike the throw ofאָבֶןA/vena stoneוַיִּכְרַעvay/yikh/RAand he kneltעַל־בִּרְכָּיוal-bir/KAYVon his kneesוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand prayedלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

    Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

43. 43

    וַיֵּרָאvay/ye/RAand appearedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַלְאָךְmal/AKHan angelמִן־הַשָּׁמָיִםmin-hash/sha/MA/yimfrom heavenוַיְחַזְּקֵהוּ׃vay/chaz/ze/KE/huand he strengthened him

    And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

44. 44

    וְחֶבְלֵי־מָוֶתve/chev/LE-MA/vetand the pangs of deathבָּאוּBA/ucameעָלָיוa/LAYVon himוַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand he continuedלְהִתְפַּלֵּלle/hit/pal/LELto prayבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAwith strengthוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand wasזֵעָתוֹze/a/TOhis sweatכְּנִטְפֵיke/nit/FElike drops ofדָםdambloodיֹרְדִיםyor/DIMfallingלָאָרֶץ׃la/A/retsto the ground

    And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

45. 45

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he roseמֵהִתְפַּלֵּלme/hit/pal/LELfrom prayingוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameאֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִיםel-hat/tal/mi/DIMto the disciplesוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawוְהִנָּםve/hin/NAMand behold theyיְשֵׁנִיםye/she/NIMsleepingמִיָּגוֹן׃miy/ya/GONfrom grief

    And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

46. 46

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלָמָּהLAM/mawhyתִישָׁנוּti/sha/NUare you sleepingקוּמוּKU/muriseוְהִתְפַּלֲלוּve/hit/pa/la/LUand prayשֶׁלֹּאshel/LOthat notתָבֹאוּta/VO/uyou enterלִידֵיli/DEinto the hands ofנִסָּיוֹן׃nis/sa/YONtemptation

    And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

47. 47

    עוֹדֶנּוּo/DEN/nuwhile he was stillמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakingוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעָםampeopleוְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneמִשְּׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂרmish/she/NEM-he/a/SARof the twelveהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudasהֹלֵךְho/LEKHwas goingלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוַיִּקְרַבvay/yik/RAVand he drew nearאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַel-Ye/SHU/ato Jesusלִנְשׇׁק־לוֹ׃lin/SHOK-loto kiss him

    And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudasהֲבִנְשִׁיקָהha/vin/shi/KAwith a kissאַתָּהat/TAyouמוֹסֵרmo/SERdeliverאֶת־בֶּן־הָאָדָם׃et-Ben-ha/a/DAMthe Son of man

    But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

49. 49

    וְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereאִתּוֹit/TOwith himרָאוּra/Usawאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatיִהְיֶהyih/YEwould beוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordהֲנַכֶּהha/nak/KEshall we strikeבֶחָרֶב׃ve/CHA/revwith the sword

    When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

50. 50

    וַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאֶת־עֶבֶדet-E/vedthe servant ofהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighוַיְקַצֵּץvay/kats/TSETSand cut offאֶת־אׇזְנוֹet-oz/NOhis earהַיְמָנִית׃hay/ma/NITright

    And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

51. 51

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidרַבravenoughעַתָּהat/TAnowהַרְפּוּhar/PUstopוַיִּגַּעvay/yig/GAand he touchedבְּאׇזְנוֹbe/oz/NOhis earוַיִּרְפָּאֵהוּ׃vay/yir/pa/e/HUand healed him

    And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

52. 52

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶלeltoרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand the officers ofהַמִּקְדָּשׁham/mik/DASHthe templeוְהַזְּקֵנִיםve/haz/ze/ke/NIMand the eldersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּאוּBA/uhad comeעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכְּצֵאתke/TSETas going outעַל־פָּרִיץal-pa/RITSagainst a robberיְצָאתֶםye/tsa/TEMhave you come outעָלַיa/LAYagainst meבַּחֲרָבוֹתba/cha/ra/VOTwith swordsוּבְמַקְלוֹת׃u/ve/mak/LOTand with clubs

    Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

53. 53

    וְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand Iהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiwasעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youבַּמִּקְדָּשׁbam/mik/DASHin the templeיוֹםyomdayיוֹםyomdayוְלֹא־שְׁלַחְתֶּםve/LO-she/lach/TEMand you did not sendיֶדְכֶםyed/KHEMyour handבִּיbiagainst meוְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutזֹאתzotthisשְׁעַתְכֶםshe/at/KHEMyour hourוְזֶהve/ZEand thisשִׁלְטוֹןshil/TONthe dominion ofהַחֹשֶׁךְ׃ha/CHO/shekhdarkness

    When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

54. 54

    וַיִּתְפְּשׂוּvay/yit/pe/SUand they seizedאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּvay/yo/li/KHU/huand led himוַיְבִיאֻהוּvay/vi/U/huand they brought himבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighוּפֶטְרוֹסu/Fet/ROSand Peterהֹלֵךְho/LEKHwas walkingאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVhimמֵרָחוֹק׃me/ra/CHOKafar off

    Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

55. 55

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּי־בִעֲרוּki-vi/a/RUwhen they kindledאֵשׁesha fireבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהֶחָצֵרhe/cha/TSERthe courtyardוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand they satיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satגַּם־פֶּטְרוֹסgam-Pet/ROSalso Peterבְּתוֹכָם׃be/to/KHAMamong them

    And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

56. 56

    וַתִּרְאֵהוּvat/tir/E/huand saw himשִׁפְחָהshif/CHAa servant girlאַחַתa/CHAToneיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVsittingנֶגֶדNE/gedoppositeהָאוּרha/URthe fireוַתַּבֶּט־בּוֹvat/tab/BET-boand she looked at himוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidגַּם־זֶהgam-zethis one alsoהָיָהha/YAwasעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

57. 57

    וַיְכַחֶשׁ־בּוֹvay/KHA/chesh-boand he denied himוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאִשָּׁהish/SHAwomanלֹאlonotיְדַעְתִּיו׃ye/da/TIVI know him

    And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

58. 58

    וְעוֹדve/ODand yetמְעַטme/ATa littleוַיִּרְאֵהוּvay/yir/E/huand saw himאִישׁisha manאַחֵרa/CHERanotherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגַּם־אַתָּהgam-at/TAyou alsoמֵהֶםme/HEMof themוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterבֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMmanלֹאlonotמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאָנֹכִי׃a/no/KHIam I

    And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

59. 59

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterעֲבֹרa/VORpassingכְּשָׁעָהke/sha/Aabout an hourאַחַתa/CHAToneטָעַןta/ANinsistedאִישׁisha manאַחֵרa/CHERotherלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyגַּם־זֶהgam-zethis one alsoהָיָהha/YAwasעִמּוֹim/MOwith himכִּי־גְלִילִיki-Ge/li/LIfor a Galileanגַּם־הוּא׃gam-huhe also is

    And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilæan.

60. 60

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterבֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMmanלֹאlonotיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowמָהmawhatאַתָּהat/TAyouאֹמֵרo/MERsayוְעוֹדֶנּוּve/o/DEN/nuand while he was stillמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakingוְהַתַּרְנְגוֹלve/hat/tar/ne/GOLand the roosterקָרָא׃ka/RAcrew

    And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.

61. 61

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand lookedאֶל־פֶּטְרוֹסel-Pet/ROSat Peterוַיִּזְכֹּרvay/yiz/KORand rememberedפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe had spokenאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeיִקְרָאyik/RAcrowsהַתַּרְנְגֹלhat/tar/ne/GOLthe roosterתְּכַחֶשׁ־בִּיte/kha/CHESH-biyou will deny meשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeפְּעָמִים׃pe/a/MIMtimes

    And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

62. 62

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outפֶטְרוֹסFet/ROSPeterהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideוַיְמָרֵרvay/ma/RERand was bitterבַּבֶּכִי׃bab/BE/khiin weeping

    And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

63. 63

    וְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאָחֲזוּA/cha/zuheldאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusהִתְעַלְּלוּhit/al/le/LUmockedבוֹvohimוַיַּכֻּהוּ׃vay/yak/KU/huand struck him

    And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

64. 64

    וַיְחַפּוּvay/chap/PUand they coveredאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headוַיַּכֻּהוּvay/yak/KU/huand struck himעַל־פָּנָיוal-pa/NAYVon the faceוַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּvay/yish/a/lu/HUand asked himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנָּבֵאhin/na/VEprophesyמִיmiwhoהוּאhuheהַמַּכֶּהham/mak/KEthat struckאוֹתְךָ׃ot/KHAyou

    And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?

65. 65

    וְעוֹדve/ODand moreגִּדּוּפִיםgid/du/FIMblasphemiesאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherהִרְבּוּhir/BUthey multipliedעָלָיו׃a/LAYVagainst him

    And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.

66. 66

    וּבִהְיֹתu/vih/YOTand when wasהַבֹּקֶרhab/BO/kerthe morningנִקְהֲלוּnik/ha/LUgatheredזִקְנֵיzik/NEthe elders ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְרָאשֵׁיve/ra/SHEand the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesוַיַּעֲלֻהוּvay/ya/a/lu/HUand they brought him upלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַסַּנְהֶדְרִיןhas/san/hed/RINthe councilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלָהֶםla/HEMwas theirsוַיֹּאמְרוּ׃vay/yo/me/RUand they said

    And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

67. 67

    הַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahהַגֶּד־לָנוּhag/GED-LA/nutell usוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאִם־אַגִּידim-ag/GIDif I tellלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotתַאֲמִינוּ׃ta/a/MI/nuyou will believe

    Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:

68. 68

    וְאִם־אֶשְׁאַלve/IM-esh/ALand if I askלֹא־תָשִׁיבוּlo-ta/shi/VUyou will not answerדָבָרda/VARa wordוְלֹאve/LOand notתְשַׁלְּחוּנִי׃te/shal/le/chu/NIwill you release me

    And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.

69. 69

    אֲבָלa/VALbutמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAhereafterיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beבֶן־הָאָדָםven-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVsittingלִימִיןli/MINat the right hand ofגְּבוּרַתge/vu/RATthe power ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

70. 70

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidכֻלָּםkhul/LAMthey allהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youאֵפוֹאe/FOthenהוּאhuheבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַתֶּםat/TEMyouאֲמַרְתֶּםa/mar/TEMsayכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat Iהוּא׃huam

    Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.

71. 71

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמַה־לָּנוּma-LA/nuwhat to usעוֹדodmoreלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto seekעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesהֲלֹאha/LOhave notבְאׇזְנֵינוּve/oz/NE/nuwith our earsשְׁמַעְנוּהָshe/ma/nu/HAwe heard itמִפִּיו׃mip/PIVfrom his mouth

    And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
