    וְגַם־מָשָׁלAnd a parableדִּבֶּרhe spakeאֲלֵיהֶםunto themלְהִתְפַּלֵּלthat men ought always to pray,תָּמִידcontinually,וְלֹאand notלְהִתְרַפּוֹת׃to faint;

    And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

    וַיֹּאמַרSaying,שׁוֹפֵטa judge,הָיָהThere wasבְּעִירin a cityאֶחָתcertainאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotיָרֵאfearedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וְלֹא־נָשָׂאneither regardedפְּנֵיface ofאָדָם׃man:

    Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

    וְאַלְמָנָהAnd a widowהָיְתָהthere wasבָּעִירin city;הַהִיאthatוַתָּבֹאand she cameאֵלָיוunto him,לֵאמֹרsaying,דִּינָהAvengeאֶת־דִּינִיmy causeמִמְּרִיבִי׃of mine adversary.

    And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

    וַיְמָאֵןAnd he would notיוֹםfor aוָיוֹםwhile:וּמִקֵּץbut at the end ofיָמִיםdaysאָמַרhe saidבְּנַפְשׁוֹwithin himself,גַּם־כִּיThoughלֹאnotאִירָאI fearאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וְלֹא־אֶשָׂאnor regardפָנִיםthe person ofלְאָדָם׃man;

    And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

    אֶעֱשֶׂהI will avengeאֶת־מִשְׁפַּטthe cause ofהָאַלְמָנָהwidowהַזֹּאתthis,עַל־הַלְאוֹתָהּYet because troublethאֹתִיme,פֶּן־תָּבוֹאlest by her comingתָמִידcontinuallyוְדִכְּאַתְנִיshe weary meבְּמִלִּים׃with her words.

    Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd said,הָאָדוֹןthe LordשִׁמְעוּHearאֶת־אֲשֶׁרwhatאֹמֵרsaith.דַּיַּןthe judgeהָעַוְלָה׃unjust

    And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

    וְהָאֱלֹהִיםAnd Godהַהוּאhimselfלֹאshall notיַעֲשֶׂהavengeמִשְׁפַּטthe cause ofבְּחִירָיוhis own elect,הַקֹּרְאִיםwhich cryאֵלָיוunto himיוֹמָםdayוָלָיְלָהand night,וַאֲלֵיהֶםthoughיִתְאַפָּק׃he bear long with them?

    And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

    אֲנִיIאֹמֵרtellלָכֶםyouכִּי־עָשׂוֹthatיַעֲשֶׂהhe will avengeאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטָםthemבִּמְהֵרָהspeedily.אַךְNeverthelessבֶּן־הָאָדָםwhen the Son of manבְּבֹאוֹcometh,הֲיִמְצָאshall he findאֱמוּנָהfaithבָּאָרֶץ׃on the earth?

    I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

    וַיּוֹסֶףAnd he furtherוַיִּשָּׂאspakeמְשָׁלוֹthis parableאֶל־אֲנָשִׁיםunto certainבֹּטְחִיםwhich trustedבְּנַפְשָׁםin themselvesכִּיthatצַדִּיקִיםrighteous,הֵמָּהthey wereוַאֲחֵרִיםand othersנִבְזִיםdespisedבְּעֵינֵיהֶםin their eyes:וַיֹּאמַר׃he said:

    And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

    שְׁנֵיTwoאֲנָשִׁיםmenעָלוּwent upאֶל־הַמִּקְדָּשׁinto the templeלְהִתְפַּלֵּלto pray;אֶחָדthe oneפָּרוּשׁa Pharisee,וְאֶחָדand the otherמוֹכֵס׃a publican.

    Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

    וַיַּעֲמֹדstoodהַפָּרוּשׁThe Phariseeלְבַדּוֹalone,וַיִּתְפַּלֵּלand prayedלֵאמֹרthusאוֹדְךָI thank you,אֱלֹהִיםGod,עַלforכִּיthatאֵינֶנִּיI am notכְּיֶתֶרas otherהָאָדָםmen are,הַגֹּזְלִיםextortioners,וְהָעשְׁקִיםunjust,וְהַנֹּאֲפִיםadulterers,וְגַם־לֹאor evenכַּמֹּכֵסas publican,הַזֶּה׃this

    The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

    אֲנִיIצָםfastפַּעֲמַיִםtwiceבַּשָּׁבוּעַin the week,אֲנִיIמְעַשֵׂרgive tithes ofאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatאֲנִיIקֹנֶה׃possess.

    I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

  13. 13

    וְהַמּוֹכֵסAnd the publican,עָמַדstandingמֵרָחוֹקafar off,וְלֹאnotאָבָהwouldלָשֵׂאתlift upאֶת־עֵינָיוhis eyesהַשָּׁמַיְמָהunto heaven,וְתוֹפֵףbut smoteעַל־לִבּוֹupon his breast,וַיֹּאמַרsaying,אֱלֹהִיםGodסְלַח־לִיbe merciful to meאֲנִיwho amהַחוֹטֵא׃a sinner.

    And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

    אֲנִיIאֹמֵרtellלָכֶםyou,כִּי־יָרַדwent downזֶהthis manלְבֵיתוֹto his houseנִצְדָּקjustifiedמִזֶּהrather than the other:כִּיforכׇּל־הַמֵּרִיםevery one that exaltethנַפְשׁוֹhimselfיִשָּׁפֵלshall be abased;וַאֲשֶׁרand he thatיַשְׁפִּילָהּhumbleth himselfיְרוֹמָם׃shall be exalted.

    I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

    וַיָּבִיאוּAnd they broughtאֵלָיוunto himגַּםalsoאֶת־הַיְלָדִיםinfants,לְמַעַןthatיִגַּעhe would touchבָּהֶםthem:וַיִּרְאוּbut when saw it,הַתַּלְמִידִיםhis disciplesוַיִּגְעֲרוּthey rebukedבָם׃them.

    And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

    וַיִּקְרָאBut calledאֹתָםthemיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֵלָיוunto him,וַיֹּאמַרand said,הַנִּיחוּSufferלַיְלָדִיםlittle childrenלָבוֹאto comeאֵלָיunto me,וְאַל־תִּמְנָעוּםand forbid them not:כִּיforלְאֵלֶּהof such isמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

    אָמֵןVerilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,כֹּלWhosoeverאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאshall notיְקַבֵּלreceiveאֶת־מַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodכַּיָּלֶדas a little child,הוּאheלֹא־יָבֹאshall in no wise enterבָהּ׃therein.

    Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

  18. 18

    וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּAnd asked him,קָצִיןa rulerאֶחָדcertainלֵאמֹרsaying,רַבִּיMaster,הַטּוֹבGoodמָה־אֶעֱשֶׂהwhat shall I doוְאִירַשׁto inheritחַיֵּיlife?עוֹלָם׃eternal

    And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

  19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusמַדּוּעַWhyקָרָאתָcallestלִּיyou meטוֹבgood?אֵיןnoneטוֹבis good,כִּיsaveאִם־אֶחָדone,וְהוּאthat is,הָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

  20. 20

    אֶת־הַמִּצְוֹתthe commandments,אַתָּהYouיוֹדֵעַknowestלֹאDo notתִנְאָףcommit adultery,לֹאDo notתִרְצָחkill,לֹאDo notתִגְנֹבsteal,לֹא־תַעֲנֶהDo not bearעֵדwitness,שָׁקֶרfalseכַּבֵּדHonorאֶת־אָבִיךָyour fatherוְאֶת־אִמֶּךָ׃and your mother.

    Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

  21. 21

    וַיֹּאמַרAnd he said,אֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהAll theseשָׁמַרְתִּיhave I keptמִנְּעוּרָי׃from my youth up.

    And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

  22. 22

    וַיִּשְׁמַעNow when heardיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרthese things, he saidעוֹדYetאַחַתone thingחָסָרְתָּlack you:מְכֹרsellאֶת־כֹּלallאֲשֶׁר־לְךָthat you have,וְחַלֵּקand distributeלָעֲנִיִּיםunto the poor,וִיהִיand you shall haveלְךָunto youאוֹצָרtreasureבַּשָּׁמָיִםin heaven:וּבוֹאand come,וְלֵךְand goאַחֲרָי׃follow me.

    Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

  23. 23

    וַיְהִיAndכְּשָׁמְעוֹwhen he heardאֶת־זֹאתthis,וַיֵּעָצֵבhe wasמְאֹדvery sorrowful:כִּי־עשֶׁרfor he was richגָּדוֹלveryהָיָהhadלוֹ׃he.

    And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

  24. 24

    וַיַּרְאAnd when sawיֵשׁוּעַJesusכִּיthatנֶעֱצַבhe was very sorrowful,וַיֹּאמַרhe said,כַּמָּהHowיִקְשֶׁהhardly shallלְבַעֲלֵיthey that haveנְכָסִיםrichesלָבוֹאenterאֶל־מַלְכוּתinto the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God!

    And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

  25. 25

    כִּיForנָקֵלit is easierלַגָּמָלfor a camelעֲבֹרto goבְּתוֹךְ־נֶקֶבthrough eyeהַמַּחַטof a needle's,מִבּוֹאthan to enterעָשִׁירfor a rich manאֶל־מַלְכוּתinto the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

  26. 26

    וַיֹּאמְרוּAnd said,הַשֹּׁמְעִיםthey that heardוּמִיWhoיוּכַלthen canלְהִוָּשֵׁעַ׃be saved?

    And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

  27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he said,אֲשֶׁרThe things whichיִפָּלֵאare impossibleמִבְּנֵיwithאָדָםmenלֹאnotיִפָּלֵאare impossibleמֵאֱלֹהִים׃with God.

    And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

  28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen saidפֶּטְרוֹסPeter,הֵןLo,אֲנַחְנוּweעָזַבְנוּhave leftאֶת־הַכֹּלall,וַנֵּלֶךand followedאַחֲרֶיךָ׃you.

    Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

  29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אָמֵןVerilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,אֵיןThere is noאִישׁmanאֲשֶׁרthatעָזַבhath leftאֶת־בֵּיתוֹhouse,אוֹorאֶת־אֲבוֹתָיוparents,אוֹorאֶת־אֶחָיוbrethren,אוֹorאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹwife,אוֹorאֶת־בָּנָיוchildren,לְמַעַןfor the sake ofמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God,

    And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

  30. 30

    וְלֹא־יִקַּחWho shall not receiveתַּחְתֵּיהֶםinsteadכִּפְלֵיmanifoldכִפְלַיִםmoreבָּעוֹלָםin timeהַזֶּהthis present,וְלָעוֹלָםand in the worldהַבָּאto comeחַיֵּיlifeעוֹלָם׃everlasting.

    Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

  31. 31

    וַיִּקַּחThen he tookאֵלָיוunto himאֶת־שְׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂרthe twelve,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָהֶםunto them,הִנְנוּBehold, weעֹלִיםgo upיְרוּשָׁלָיְמָהto Jerusalem,וְכׇל־הַכָּתוּבand all things that are writtenבִּידֵיbyהַנְּבִיאִיםthe prophetsעַלconcerningבֶּן־הָאָדָםthe Son of manיִמָּלֵא׃shall be accomplished.

    Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

    כִּיForיִמָּסֵרhe shall be deliveredלַגּוֹיִםunto the Gentiles,וְהֵתֵלּוּand shall be mockedבוֹof him,וְהִתְעַלְּלוּand spitefully entreated,וְיָרְקוּand shall spitבְּפָנָיו׃in his face:

    For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

  33. 33

    וְהִכּוּהוּAnd they shall scourge himבַשּׁוֹטִיםwith whips,וֶהֱמִיתוּהוּand put him to death:וּבַיּוֹםand the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthirdקוֹםhe shall surelyיָקוּם׃rise again.

    And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

  34. 34

    וְהֵםAnd theyלֹאnotהֵבִינוּunderstoodדָבָרnone ofמִכׇּל־אֵלֶּהthese things:וַיְהִיandהַדָּבָרsayingהַזֶּהthisנֶעְלָםwas hidמֵהֶםfrom them,וְלֹאneitherיָדְעוּknew theyאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthe things whichדִּבֶּרwere spokenאֲלֵיהֶם׃unto them.

    And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

  35. 35

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְּקָרְבוֹthat as he was come nighאֶל־יְרִיחוֹunto Jericho,וְהִנֵּה־אִישׁa certainעִוֵּרblind manיֹשֵׁבsatעַל־יַדbyהַדֶּרֶךְthe way sideלִשְׁאֹלto askצְדָקָה׃alms:

    And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

  36. 36

    וַיִּשְׁמַעAnd hearingאֶת־קוֹלthe noise ofהָעָםthe multitudeהָעֹבֵרpass by,וַיִּדְרשׁhe askedלָדַעַתto knowמַה־הוּא׃what it meant.

    And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

  37. 37

    וַיַּגִּידוּAnd they toldלוֹhim,כִּי־יֵשׁוּעַthat Jesusהַנָּצְרִיof Nazarethעוֹבֵר׃passeth by.

    And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

  38. 38

    וַיִּזְעַקAnd he cried,לֵאמֹרsaying,יֵשׁוּעַJesus,בֶּן־דָּוִדyou son of David,חׇנֵּנִי׃have mercy on me.

    And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

  39. 39

    וְהַהֹלְכִיםAnd they which wentלְפָנָיוbeforeגָּעֲרוּ־בוֹrebuked him,לְהַחֲשֹׁתוֹthat he should hold his peace:וְהוּאbut heהִרְבָּהcried so muchעוֹדthe moreלִזְעֹקa great deal,יֵשׁוּעַJesus,בֶּן־דָּוִדyou son of David,חׇנֵּנִי׃have mercy on me.

    And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

  40. 40

    וַיַּעֲמֹדAnd stood,יֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיְצַוand commandedלַהֲבִיאוֹhim to be broughtאֵלָיוunto him:וַיְהִיandכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenקָרַבhe was come near,וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּhe asked him,לֵאמֹר׃saying,

    And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

  41. 41

    מַה־תִּרְצֶהWhat will youשֶׁאֶעֱשֶׂה־לָּךְthat I shall do unto you?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he said,אֲדֹנִיLord,אֲשֶׁרthatתִּפָּקַחְנָהI may receiveעֵינָי׃my sight.

    Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

  42. 42

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidאֵלָיוunto him,תִּפָּקַחְנָהLet be openedעֵינֶיךָyour eyes:אֱמוּנָתְךָyour faithהוֹשִׁיעָהhath savedלָּךְ׃you.

    And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

  43. 43

    וּפִתְאֹםAnd immediatelyנִפְקְחוּhe receivedעֵינָיוhis sight,וַיֵּלֶךְand followedאַחֲרָיוhim,הָלֹךְgoing,וְשַׁבֵּחַand glorifyingאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod:וְכׇל־הָעָםand all the people,רָאוּwhen they saw it,וַיּוֹדוּgave praiseלֵאלֹהִים׃unto God.

    And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
