1. 1

   וַיֹּאמֶרThen said heאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוunto the disciples,אִיItאֶפְשַׁרis impossibleשֶׁלּא־יָבֹאוּbut that should come:הַמִּכְשֹׁלִיםoffensesאֲבָלbutאוֹיwoeלָאִישׁunto him,אֲשֶׁרthrough whomעַל־יָדוֹby his handיָבֹאוּ׃they come!

   Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

2. 2

   נוֹחַbetterלוֹIt wereשֶׁיִּתָּלֶהthat were hangedפֶלַח־רֶכֶבa millstoneבְּצַוָּארוֹabout his neck,וְיֻשְׁלַךְand he castאֶל־הַיָּםinto the sea,מֵאֲשֶׁרthan thatיַכְשִׁילhe should offendאֶת־אֶחָדoneמֵהַקְּטַנִּיםof little onesהָאֵלֶּה׃these

   It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

3. 3

   הִשָּׁמְרוּTake heedלְנַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶםto yourselves:כִּי־יֶחֱטָאIf trespassלְךָagainst you,אָחִיךָyour brotherהוֹכַחrebukeלוֹhim;וְאִם־יִנָּחֵםand if he repent,מְחֹלforgiveלוֹ׃him.

   Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

4. 4

   וְכִי־יֶחֱטָאAnd if he trespassלְךָagainst youשֶׁבַעsevenפְּעָמִיםtimesבַּיּוֹםin a day,וְשָׁבand turnאֵלֶיךָagain to you,שֶׁבַעsevenפְּעָמִיםtimesבַּיּוֹםin a dayוְאָמַרsaying,נִחָמְתִּיI repent;וּמָחַלְתָּyou shall forgiveלּוֹ׃him.

   And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּAnd saidהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe apostlesאֶל־הָאָדוֹןunto the Lord,הוֹסֵףIncreaseלָנוּourאֱמוּנָה׃faith.

   And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6. 6

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd said,הָאָדוֹןthe Lordלוּ־הָיְתָהIf there wereלָכֶםunto youאֱמוּנָהfaithכְּגַרְגַּרas a grainהַחַרְדָּלof mustard seed,אָזthenתֹּאמְרוּyou might sayאֶל־הַשִּׁקְמָהunto sycamine tree,הַזֹּאתthisהֵעָקְרִיBe you plucked up by the root,וְהִשָּׁתְלִיand be you plantedבְּתוֹךְinהַיָּםthe sea;וְתִשְׁמַעand it should obeyלָכֶם׃you.

   And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

   מִיBut whichבָכֶםof you,אֲשֶׁרhavingלוֹunto himעֶבֶדa servantחֹרֵשׁplowingאוֹorרֹעֶהfeeding cattle,אֲשֶׁרwhichיָבֹאcomethמִן־הַשָּׂדֶהfrom the field,וְאָמַרwill sayאֵלָיוunto himמַהֵרby and by,גְּשָׁה־הֵנָּהGoוְהָסֵב׃and sit down to meat?

   But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

8. 8

   הֲלֹאAnd will notיֹאמַרrather sayאֵלָיוunto him,הָכֵןMake readyלִיwherewithאֲרוּחַתmy supper,הָעֶרֶבof the evening,וַחֲגֹרand girdמׇתְנֶיךָthyself,וְשָׁרֲתֵנִיand serve me,עַדtillאִם־כִּלִּיתִיI haveלֶאֱכֹלeatenוְלִשְׁתּוֹתand drunken;וְאָכַלְתָּand afterward you shall eatוְשָׁתִיתָand drinkגַּם־אָתָּה׃you also?

   And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9. 9

   הֲגַםDoth heיוֹדֶהthankלָעֶבֶדthat servantעַל־אֲשֶׁרbecauseעָשָׂהhe didמִצְוָתוֹthe things that were commanded him?אָמַרְתִּיI trowלֹא׃not.

   Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

10. 10

    כֵּןSo likewiseגַּם־אַתֶּםyou,אַחֲרֵיwhenעֲשׂוֹתְכֶםyou shall have doneאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall those thingsצֻוֵּיתֶםwhich are commanded you,אִמְרוּsay,אֲנַחְנוּWe areעֲבָדִיםservants:אֵין־מוֹעִילunprofitableבָּםare we,כִּיforרַקonlyאֶת־הַמֻּטָּלthat which was our dutyעָלֵינוּto doעָשִׂינוּ׃we have done.

    So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְּלֶכְתּוֹas he wentיְרוּשָׁלָיִםto Jerusalem,וְהוּאthat heעֹבֵרpassedבֵּיןthrough the midst ofשֹׁמְרוֹןSamariaוְהַגָּלִיל׃and Galilee.

    And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12. 12

    וַיָּבֹאAnd as he enteredאֶל־כְּפָרinto village,אֶחָדa certainוְהִנֵּהthereלִקְרָאתוֹmet himעֲשָׂרָהtenאֲנָשִׁיםmenמְצֹרָעִיםthat were lepers,וַיַּעַמְדוּwhich stoodמֵרָחוֹק׃afar off:

    And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13. 13

    וַיִּשְׂאוּAnd they lifted upאֶת־קוֹלָםtheir voices,וַיִּקְרָאוּand said,יֵשׁוּעַJesus,מוֹרֶהMaster,חׇנֵּנוּ׃have mercy on us.

    And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14. 14

    וַיַּרְאAnd when he sawאוֹתָםthem,וַיֹּאמֶרhe saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לְכוּGoוְהֵרָאוּshew yourselvesאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםunto the priests.וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,בְלֶכְתָּםthat, as they went,וַיִּטְהָרוּ׃they were cleansed.

    And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15. 15

    וְאֶחָדAnd oneמֵהֶםof them,בִּרְאֹתוֹwhen he sawכִּיthatנִרְפָּאhe was healed,וַיָּשׇׁבturned back,וַיְשַׁבַּחand glorifiedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,קוֹלwith a voice,גָּדוֹל׃loud

    And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16. 16

    וַיִּפֹּלAnd fell downעַל־פָּנָיוon his faceלְרַגְלָיוat his feet,וַיּוֹדֶהgiving thanksלוֹhim:וְהוּאand heשֹׁמְרוֹנִי׃was a Samaritan.

    And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17. 17

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמַרand said,הֲלֹאWere there notהָעֲשָׂרָהtenטֹהָרוּcleansed?וְאַיֵּהbut where areהַתִּשְׁעָה׃the nine?

    And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18. 18

    הֲכִיThere areלֹא־נִמְצָאnot foundמִיthatשֶׁיָּשׁוּבreturnedלָתֵתto giveכָּבוֹדgloryלֵאלֹהִיםto God,זוּלָתִיsaveהַנׇּכְרִיstrangerהַזֶּה׃this.

    There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֵלָיוunto him,קוּםArise,וָלֵךְgo your way:אֱמוּנָתְךָyour faithהוֹשִׁיעָהhath made wholeלָּךְ׃you.

    And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

20. 20

    וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּAnd when he was demandedהַפְּרוּשִׁיםof the Pharisees,לֵאמֹרsaying,מָתַיwhenתָּבוֹאshould come,מַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodוַיַּעַןhe answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםthem,מַלְכוּתThe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodלֹאnotתָבוֹאcomethבְּמַרְאֵהwithעֵינָיִם׃observation:

    And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21. 21

    וְלֹאNeitherיֹאמְרוּshall they say,הִנֵּה־פֹהLo here!אוֹor,הִנֵּה־שָׁםlo there!כִּיfor,מַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהִנֵּהbehold,בְּקִרְבְּכֶם׃is within you.

    Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִיםunto the disciples,יָמִיםdaysבָּאִיםwill come,וְהִתְאַוִּיתֶםwhen you shall desireלִרְאוֹתto seeיוֹםa dayאֶחָדoneכִּימֵיof the days ofבֶן־הָאָדָםthe Son of man,וְלֹאand notתִרְאוּ׃you shall see it.

    And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

23. 23

    וְאִם־יֹאמְרוּAnd they shall sayאֲלֵיכֶםto you,הִנֵּה־שָׁםSee here;הִנֵּה־פֹהor, see there:אַל־תֵּלֵכוּgo notוְאַל־תָּרוּצוּnor followאַחֲרֵיהֶם׃after them.

    And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.

24. 24

    כִּיForכַבָּרָקas the lightning,אֲשֶׁרthatיִבְרַקlightenethמִקְצֵהout of the one part underהַשָּׁמַיִםheaven,וְיָאִירshinethעַד־קְצֵהunto the other part underהַשָּׁמַיִםheaven;כֵּן־יִהְיֶהso shall also beבֶן־הָאָדָםthe Son of manבְּיוֹמוֹ׃in his day.

    For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

25. 25

    אַךְButבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstעָלָיוmust heלִסְבֹּלsufferהַרְבֵּהmany things,וְלִהְיוֹתand beנִמְאָסrejectedבַּדּוֹרof generation.הַזֶּה׃this

    But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

26. 26

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרAnd asהָיָהit wasבִּימֵיin the days ofנֹחַNoah,כֵּןsoיִהְיֶהshall it beבִּימֵיin the days ofבֶן־הָאָדָם׃the Son of man.

    And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27. 27

    הֵמָּהTheyאָכְלוּdid eat,וְשָׁתוּthey drank,נָשְׂאוּthey marriedנָשִׁיםwives,וְהָיוּthey were givenלַאֲנָשִׁיםin marriage,עַד־הַיּוֹםuntil the dayאֲשֶׁר־בָּאthat enteredנֹחַNoahאֶל־הַתֵּבָהinto the ark,וַיָּבֹאand cameהַמַּבּוּלthe flood,וַיַּשְׁחֵתand destroyedאֶת־כֻּלָּם׃them all.

    They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28. 28

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרLikewise also asהָיָהit wasבִּימֵיin the days ofלוֹטLot;אָכֹלthey did eat,וְשָׁתֹהthey drank,קָנֹהthey bought,וּמָכֹרthey sold,נָטֹעthey planted,וּבָנֹה׃they builded;

    Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29. 29

    וַיְהִיButבַיּוֹםthe same dayאֲשֶׁר־יָצָאthat wentלוֹטLotמִסְּדוֹםout of Sodomוַיַּמְטֵרit rainedאֵשׁfireוְגׇפְרִיתand brimstoneמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom heaven,וַיַּשְׁחֵתand destroyedאֶת־כֻּלָּם׃them all.

    But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30. 30

    כֵּןthusיִהְיֶהshall it beבַּיּוֹםin the dayאֲשֶׁרwhenיִגָּלֶהis revealed.בֶּן־הָאָדָם׃the Son of man

    Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

31. 31

    אִישׁInכִּיthatיִהְיֶהshall beבַּיּוֹםday,הַהוּאthatעַל־הַגָּגhe which shall be upon the housetop,וְכֵלָיוand his stuffבַּבָּיִתin the house,אַל־יֵרֵדlet him not come downלָשֵׂאתto takeאֹתָםthem away:וְאִישׁand heאֲשֶׁרthat isבַּשָׂדֶהin the field,אַל־יָשֹׁבlet him likewise not returnלְאָחוֹר׃back.

    In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

32. 32

    זִכְרוּRememberאֶת־אֵשֶׁתwife.לוֹט׃Lot's

    Remember Lot's wife.

33. 33

    הֶחָפֵץWhosoever shall seekלְמַלֵּטto saveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis lifeיְאַבְּדֶנָּהshall lose it;וַאֲשֶׁרand whosoeverיְאַבֵּדshall loseאֹתָהּhis lifeיְחַיֶּהָ׃shall preserve it.

    Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

34. 34

    אֲנִיIאֹמֵרtellלָכֶםyou,בַּלַּיְלָהin nightהַהוּאthatיִהְיוּthere shall beשְׁנַיִםtwoבְּמִטָּהin bed;אֶחָתoneוְיֵאָסֵףshall be takenאֶחָדthe one,וְאֶחָדand the otherיֵעָזֵב׃shall be left.

    I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

35. 35

    שְׁתַּיִםTwoתִּהְיֶינָהshall beטֹחֲנוֹתgrindingיָחַדtogether;אַחַתthe oneתֵּאָסֵףshall be taken,וְאַחַתand the otherתֵּעָזֵב׃left.

    Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

36. 36

    שְׁנַיִםTwoיִהְיוּshall beבַשָׂדֶהin the field;וְנֶאֱסַףshall be takenאֶחָדthe one,וְאֶחָדand the otherיֵעָזֵב׃left.

    Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

37. 37

    וַיַּעֲנוּAnd they answeredוַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֵלָיוunto him,אֵיפֹהWhere,תִהְיֶהshall beזֹאתthis,אֲדֹנֵינוּLord?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,בַּאֲשֶׁרWheresoeverהַפֶּגֶרthe body is,שָׁםthitherיִקָּבְצוּwill be gathered together.הַנְּשָׁרִים׃the eagles

    And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
