   In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

   וְאֵיןve/ENand there is notדָּבָרda/VARa thingמְכֻסֶּהme/khus/SEcoveredאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִגָּלֶהyig/ga/LEwill be revealedוְלֹאve/LOand notסָתוּםsa/TUMhidאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִוָּדֵעַ׃yiv/va/DE/awill be known

   For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatדִּבַּרְתֶּםdib/bar/TEMyou have spokenבַּחֹשֶׁךְba/CHO/shekhin darknessבָּאוֹרba/ORin the lightיִשָּׁמֵעַyish/sha/ME/awill be heardוְאֶת־אֲשֶׁרve/ET-a/SHERand whatלְחַשְׁתֶּםle/chash/TEMyou whisperedבַּחֲדָרִיםba/cha/da/RIMin inner roomsקָרֹאka/ROproclaimיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be proclaimedמֵעַל־הַגַּגּוֹת׃me/AL-hag/gag/GOTfrom on the roofs

   Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youיְדִידָיye/di/DAYmy friendsאַל־תִּירְאוּal-ti/re/Udo not fearמִן־הַמְמִיתִיםmin-ham/mi/TIMof those who killאֶת־הַגּוּףet-hag/GUFthe bodyוְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןve/a/cha/RE-khenand afterwardאֵין־לְאֵלen-le/ELthere is not power inיָדָםya/DAMtheir handלְהָרַעle/ha/RAto do harmעוֹד׃odmore

   And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutאוֹרֶהo/REI will showאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhomתִּירָאוּti/RA/uyou shall fearיְראוּyer/Ufearאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERHim whoבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOhas in His handלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITto killוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterwardלְהַשְׁלִיךְle/hash/LIKHto castאֶל־גֵּיהִנֹּםel-Ge/hin/NOMinto Gehennaאָכֵןa/KHENtrulyאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאוֹתוֹo/TOHimתִּירָאוּן׃ti/ra/UNyou shall fear

   But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

   הֲלֹאha/LOare notתִמָּכַרְנָהtim/ma/khar/NAare soldחָמֵשׁcha/MESHfiveצִפֳּרִיםtsip/po/RIMsparrowsבִּשְׁנֵיbish/NEfor twoאִסָּרִיםis/sa/RIMfarthingsוְאֵין־אַחַתve/EN-a/CHATand not oneמֵהֶןme/HENof themנִשְׁכַּחַתnish/KA/chatis forgottenלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

7. 7

   וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youגַּם־שַׂעֲרוֹתgam-sa/a/ROTeven the hairs ofרֹאשְׁכֶםro/she/KHEMyour headנִמְנוֹתnim/NOTare numberedכֻּלָּןkul/LANall of themלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַל־תִּירָאוּal-ti/RA/udo not fearיְקַרְתֶּםye/kar/TEMyou are more preciousמִצִּפֳּרִיםmits/tsip/po/RIMthan sparrowsרַבּוֹת׃rab/BOTmany

   But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיוֹדֶהyo/DEconfessבִיvimeלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenגַּםgamalsoבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manיוֹדֶהyo/DEwill confessבוֹvohimלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeמַלְאֲכֵיmal/a/KHEthe angels ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

9. 9

   וְהַמְכַחֵשׁve/ham/kha/CHESHand whoever deniesבִּיbimeלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenהוּאhuheיְכֻחַשׁye/khu/CHASHwill be deniedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeמַלְאֲכֵיmal/a/KHEthe angels ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

10. 10

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERspeakדְּבַרde/VARa word ofחֶרְפָּהcher/PAreproachעַל־בֶּן־הָאָדָםal-Ben-ha/a/DAMagainst the Son of manיִסָּלַחyis/sa/LACHit will be forgivenלוֹlohimוְהַמְגַדֵּףve/ham/gad/DEFand whoever blasphemesאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁet-RU/ach-hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritלֹאlonotיִסָּלַחyis/sa/LACHit will be forgivenלוֹ׃lohim

    And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand whenיָבִיאוּya/VI/uthey bringאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֶל־בָּתֵּיel-bat/TEto the houses ofכְנֵסֶתkhe/NE/setassemblyוְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeהָרָשֻׁיּוֹתha/ra/shuy/YOTthe authoritiesוְהַשַּׁלִּיטִיםve/hash/shal/li/TIMand the rulersאַל־תִּדְאֲגוּal-tid/a/GUdo not worryאֵיךְekhhowתִּצְטַדְּקוּtits/tad/de/KUyou defend yourselvesוּבַמֶּהu/vam/MEor with whatתִּצְטַדְּקוּtits/tad/de/KUyou defend yourselvesוּמַה־תְּדַבֵּרוּ׃u/MA-te/dab/be/RUor what you will say

    And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

    כִּי־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁki-RU/ach-Hak/KO/deshfor the Holy SpiritהוּאhuHeיוֹרֶהyo/REwill teachאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבַּשָּׁעָהbash/sha/Ain the hourהַהִיאha/HIthatאֶת־הַנָּכוֹןet-han/na/KHONwhat is rightלְדַבֵּר׃le/dab/BERto be said

    For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִן־הָעָםmin-ha/AMof the peopleרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiאֱמׇר־נָאe/MOR-nasay nowאֶל־אָחִיel-a/CHIto my brotherוְיַחֲלֹקve/ya/cha/LOKand let him divideאִתִּיit/TIwith meאֶת־הַיְרֻשָּׁה׃et-hay/rush/SHAthe inheritance

    And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMmanמִיmiwhoשָׂמַנִיsa/MA/niset meעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMover youלְשֹׁפֵטle/sho/FETas judgeוְלִמְחַלֵּק׃ve/lim/chal/LEKand divider

    And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themרְאוּre/Useeוְהִשָּׁמְרוּve/hish/sha/me/RUand bewareלָכֶםla/KHEMyourselvesמִבְּצֹעַmib/be/TSO/aof gettingבָּצַעBA/tsagainכִּיkiforחַיֵּיchay/YEthe life ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMa manאֵינָםe/NAMare notתְּלוּיִםte/lu/YIMhangingבְּהַרְבּוֹתbe/har/BOTon the abundance ofקִנְיָנָיו׃kin/ya/NAYVhis possessions

    And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

16. 16

    וַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand he took upמְשָׁלוֹme/sha/LOhis parableוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשְׂדֵהse/DEthe ground ofאִישׁisha manעָשִׁירa/SHIRrichאֶחָדe/CHADoneעָשָׂהa/SAproducedתְּבוּאָהte/vu/Aa cropהַרְבֵּה׃har/BEplentiful

    And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17. 17

    וַיַּחְשֹׁבvay/yach/SHOVand he thoughtבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָה־אֶעֱשֶׂהma-e/e/SEwhat shall I doכִּיkiforאֵין־לִיen-liI have noמָקוֹםma/KOMplaceלֶאֱסוֹףle/e/SOFto gatherאֶת־תְּבוּאָתִי׃et-te/vu/a/TImy crops

    And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEI will doהָרֹסha/ROStear downאֲסָמַיa/sa/MAYmy barnsוּבָנֹהu/va/NOand buildגְּדוֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreaterמֵהֶםme/HEMthan theseוְאֶכְנְסָהve/ekh/ne/SAand I will gatherשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereאֶת־כׇּל־יְבוּלִיet-kol-ye/vu/LIall my produceוְטוּבִי׃ve/tu/VIand my goods

    And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19. 19

    וְאֹמַרve/o/MARand I will sayלְנַפְשִׁיle/naf/SHIto my soulנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHIsoulיֶשׁ־לָךְyesh-lakhyou haveטוֹבָהto/VAgoodהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmuchלְשָׁנִיםle/sha/NIMfor yearsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyהִנָּפְשִׁיhin/na/fe/SHIrestאִכְלִיikh/LIeatשְׁתִיshe/TIdrinkוְשִׂישִׂי׃ve/SI/siand rejoice

    And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20. 20

    וְהָאֱלֹהִיםve/ha/e/lo/HIMbut Godאָמַרa/MARsaidלוֹloto himאַתָּהat/TAyouהַכְּסִילhak/ke/SILfoolבְּעֶצֶםbe/E/tsemon this veryהַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/lanightהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisיִדְרְשׁוּyid/re/SHUthey will requireמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAof youאֶת־נַפְשֶׁךָet-naf/SHE/khayour soulוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatהֲכִינוֹתָha/khi/NO/tayou have providedלְּךָle/KHAfor yourselfלְמִיle/MIto whomיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEwill it be

    But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21. 21

    זֶהzethis isחֵלֶקCHE/lekthe portion ofהָאֹצֵרha/o/TSERhim who stores upלוֹlofor himselfאֹצָרוֹתo/tsa/ROTtreasuresוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעְשִׁירya/SHIRis richבֵּאלֹהִים׃be/lo/HIMtoward God

    So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוel-tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאַל־תִּדְאֲגוּal-tid/a/GUdo not worryלְנַפְשְׁכֶםle/naf/she/KHEMfor your soulמַה־תֹּאכְלוּma-to/khe/LUwhat you shall eatוְלֹאve/LOand notלְגוּפְכֶםle/guf/KHEMfor the bodyמַה־תִּלְבָּשׁוּ׃ma-til/BA/shuwhat you shall put on

    And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23. 23

    הַנֶּפֶשׁhan/NE/feshthe soulיְקָרָהye/ka/RAmore preciousהִיאhiisמִן־הַמָּזוֹןmin-ham/ma/ZONthan the foodוְהַגּוּףve/hag/GUFand the bodyיָקָרya/KARmore preciousמִן־הַמַּלְבּוּשׁ׃min-ham/mal/BUSHthan the clothing

    The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

24. 24

    הִתְבּוֹנֲנוּhit/bo/na/NUconsiderאֶל־הָעֹרְבִיםel-ha/or/VIMthe ravensאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִזְרְעוּyiz/re/Uthey sowוְלֹאve/LOand notיִקְצֹרוּyik/TSO/rureapוְגַם־אֵיןve/GAM-enand also there is notלָהֶםla/HEMto themמְגוּרָהme/gu/RAa storehouseוְאוֹצָרve/o/TSARand a treasuryוְהָאֱלֹהִיםve/ha/e/lo/HIMand Godמְכַלְכֵּלme/khal/KELfeedsאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוּמַה־יְּקָרִיםu/MA-ye/ka/RIMand how much more preciousאַתֶּםat/TEMare youמִן־הָעוֹף׃min-ha/OFthan the birds

    Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

25. 25

    וּמִי־זֶהu/MI-zeand whoמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבְּדַאֲגָתוֹbe/da/a/ga/TOby his worryingיוּכַלyu/KHALcanלְהוֹסִיףle/ho/SIFaddאַמָּהam/MAa cubitאַחַתa/CHAToneעַל־קוֹמָתוֹ׃al-ko/ma/TOto his stature

    And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

26. 26

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהֵן־מְעַטhen-me/ATif a littleמִזְעָרmiz/ARtrifleלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doלֹאlonotתוּכָלוּtu/kha/LUyou canוְלַיּוֹתֵרve/lay/yo/TERand for the restמַה־תִּדְאָגוּ׃ma-tid/a/GUwhy do you worry

    If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

27. 27

    הִתְבּוֹנֲנוּhit/bo/na/NUconsiderאֶל־הַשּׁוֹשַׁנִּיםel-hash/sho/shan/NIMthe liliesהַצֹּמְחוֹתhats/tsom/CHOThow they growוְאֵינָןve/e/NANthey do notעֲמֵלוֹתa/me/LOTtoilוְאֵינָןve/e/NANand they do notטֹווֹתto/VOTspinוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youגַּם־שְׁלֹמֹהgam-She/lo/MOeven Solomonבְּכׇל־הֲדָרוֹbe/KHOL-ha/da/ROin all his gloryלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAwas notלָבוּשׁla/VUSHclothedכְּאַחַתke/a/CHATlike oneמֵהֵנָּה׃me/HEN/naof these

    Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28. 28

    וְאִם־כָּכָהve/IM-KA/khaand if soיַלְבִּישׁyal/BISHclothesאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־חֲצִירet-cha/TSIRthe grass ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEin the fieldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayיֶשְׁנוֹyesh/NOisוּמָחָרu/ma/CHARand tomorrowיֻשְׁלַךְyush/LAKHis thrownלְתוֹךְle/TOKHintoהַתַּנּוּרhat/tan/NURthe ovenאַףafhow much moreכִּי־אֶתְכֶםki-et/KHEMyouקְטַנֵּיke/tan/NEO small ofאֱמוּנָה׃e/mu/NAfaith

    If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

29. 29

    גַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoאַל־תִּדְרְשׁוּal-tid/re/SHUdo not seekמַה־תֹּאכְלוּma-to/khe/LUwhat you shall eatוּמַה־תִּשְׁתּוּu/MA-tish/TUor what you shall drinkוְאַל־יֵחָלֵקve/AL-ye/cha/LEKand let not be dividedלִבְּכֶם׃lib/be/KHEMyour heart

    And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30. 30

    כִּיkiforאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall these thingsמְבַקְשִׁיםme/vak/SHIMseekגּוֹיֵיgo/YEthe nations ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe worldוַאֲבִיכֶםva/A/vi/KHEMand your FatherהוּאhuHeיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsכִּי־צְרִיכִיםki-tse/ri/KHIMthat needאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלָאֵלֶּה׃la/EL/leof these things

    For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

31. 31

    אַךְakhbutדִּרְשׁוּdir/SHUseekאֶת־מַלְכוּתet-mal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְנוֹסַףve/no/SAFand will be addedלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכׇּל־אֵלֶּה׃kol-EL/leall these things

    But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

32. 32

    אַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearהָעֵדֶרha/E/derflockהַקָּטָןhak/ka/TANlittleכִּיkiforרָצָהra/TSAis pleasedאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMyour FatherלָתֶתLA/tetto giveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֵת־הַמַּלְכוּת׃et-ham/mal/KHUTthe kingdom

    Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

33. 33

    מִכְרוּmikh/RUsellאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatלָכֶםla/KHEMyou haveוּתְנוּu/te/NUand giveצְדָקָהtse/da/KAalmsעֲשׂוּa/SUmakeלָכֶםla/KHEMyourselvesכִּיסִיםki/SIMpursesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִבְלוּyiv/LUwear outוְאוֹצָרve/o/TSARa treasureבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִגָּרַעyig/ga/RAis diminishedלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMeverאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereגַּנָּבgan/NAVa thiefלֹא־יִקְרַבlo-yik/RAVdoes not come nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVitוְסָסve/SASand a mothלֹאlonotיֹאכְלֵהוּ׃yo/khe/le/HUeats it

    Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

34. 34

    כִּי־בִמְקוֹםki-vim/KOMfor in the place ofאוֹצַרְכֶםo/tsar/KHEMyour treasureשָׁםshamthereיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beגַם־לְבַבְכֶם׃gam-le/vav/KHEMyour heart also

    For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

35. 35

    מׇתְנֵיכֶםmot/ne/KHEMyour loinsיִהְיוּyih/YUlet beחֲגוּרִיםcha/gu/RIMgirdedוְהַנֵּרוֹתve/han/ne/ROTand the lampsדֹּלְקִים׃dol/KIMburning

    Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

36. 36

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youהֱיוּhe/YUbeדֹמִיםdo/MIMlikeלָאֲנָשִׁיםla/a/na/SHIMto menהַמְחַכִּיםham/chak/KIMwho waitלָאֲדֹנֵיהֶםla/a/do/ne/HEMfor their lordמָתַיma/TAYwhenיָשׁוּבya/SHUVhe will returnמִן־הַחֲתֻנָּהmin-ha/cha/tun/NAfrom the weddingוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand whenיָבוֹאya/VOhe comesוְדָפַקve/da/FAKand knocksיִפְתְּחוּ־לוֹyif/te/CHU-lothey may open to himכְּרָגַע׃ke/RA/gaat once

    And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

37. 37

    אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהָעֲבָדִיםha/a/va/DIMthe servantsהָהֵםha/HEMthoseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe masterבְּבוֹאוֹbe/vo/Owhen he comesיִמְצָאֵםyim/tsa/EMwill find themשֹׁקְדִיםshok/DIMkeeping watchאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatיִתְאַזֵּרyit/az/ZERhe will gird himselfוְיוֹשִׁיבֵםve/yo/shi/VEMand seat themוְהָלַךְve/ha/LAKHand goוְשֵׁרֵתve/she/RETand serveאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

38. 38

    וְאִם־יָבוֹאve/IM-ya/VOand if he comesבָּאַשְׁמֻרָהba/ash/mu/RAin the watchהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITthe secondאוֹoorבָּאַשְׁמֻרָהba/ash/mu/RAin the watchהַשְּׁלִישִׁיתhash/she/li/SHITthe thirdוְיִמְצָאve/yim/TSAand findsכֵןkhensoאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהָעֲבָדִיםha/a/va/DIMthe servantsהָהֵם׃ha/HEMthose

    And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

39. 39

    וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisדְּעוּde/Uknowכִּיkithatאִלּוּil/LUifיָדַעya/DAhad knownבַּעַלBA/althe master ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseבְּאֵי־זוֹbe/E-zoat whatשָׁעָהsha/Ahourיָבוֹאya/VOwould comeהַגַּנָּבhag/gan/NAVthe thiefכִּי־עַתָּהki-at/TAthenשָׁקַדsha/KADhe would have watchedוְלֹא־נָתַןve/LO-na/TANand would not letלַחְתֹּרlach/TORdig throughאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ׃et-be/TOhis house

    And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

40. 40

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoהֱיוּhe/YUbeנְכוֹנִיםne/kho/NIMreadyכִּיkiforבְשָׁעָהve/sha/Ain an hourאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotפִלַּלְתֶּםfil/lal/TEMyou expectיָבוֹאya/VOcomesבֶּן־הָאָדָם׃ben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of man

    Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

41. 41

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordהֲלָנוּha/LA/nuto usאַתָּהat/TAyouאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֶת־הַמָּשָׁלet-ham/ma/SHALthe parableהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאִם־גַּםim-gamor alsoלְכׇל־אָדָם׃le/KHOL-a/DAMto every man

    Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

42. 42

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordמִי־הוּאmi-huwho isאֵפוֹאe/FOthenהַסֹּכֵןhas/so/KHENthe stewardהַנֶּאֱמָןhan/ne/e/MANfaithfulוְהַנָּבוֹןve/han/na/VONand wiseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיַפְקִידֵהוּyaf/ki/de/HUwill appointהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe masterעַל־עֲבָדָיוal-a/va/DAYVover his servantsלָתֵתla/TETto giveאֶת־אֲרֻחָתָםet-a/ru/cha/TAMtheir allowanceבְּעִתּוֹ׃be/it/TOin due season

    And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

43. 43

    אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed isהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיָבֹאya/VOwill comeאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis lordוְיִמְצָאֵהוּve/yim/tsa/E/huand find himעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoingכֵן׃khenso

    Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

44. 44

    אֱמֶתe/METtrulyאַגִּידag/GIDI tellלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatעַל־כֹּלal-kolover allאֲשֶׁר־יֵשׁ־לוֹa/SHER-yesh-lothat he hasיַפְקִידֵהוּ׃yaf/ki/de/HUhe will appoint him

    Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

45. 45

    וְהָעֶבֶדve/ha/E/vedand the servantהַהוּאha/HUthatאִם־יֹאמַרim-yo/MARif saysבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartמְאַחֵרme/a/CHERdelaysאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordלָבוֹאla/VOto comeוְהֵחֵלve/he/CHELand beginsלְהַכּוֹתle/hak/KOTto strikeאֶת־הָעֲבָדִיםet-ha/a/va/DIMthe servantsוְאֶת־הַשְּׁפָחוֹתve/ET-hash/she/fa/CHOTand the maidservantsוְלֶאֱכֹלve/le/e/KHOLand to eatוְלִשְׁתּוֹתve/lish/TOTand to drinkוְלִשְׁכֹּר׃ve/lish/KORand to get drunk

    But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

46. 46

    בּוֹאbocomeיָבוֹאya/VOwill comeאֲדֹנֵיa/do/NEthe lord ofהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantהַהוּאha/HUthatבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin a dayלֹא־יְצַפֶּהlo-ye/tsap/PEhe does not expectוּבְשָׁעָהu/ve/sha/Aand at an hourלֹאlonotיֵדָעye/DAhe knowsוִישַׁסֵּףvi/shas/SEFand will cut in piecesאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוְשָׂםve/SAMand putאֶת־חֶלְקוֹet-chel/KOhis portionעִם־חַסְרֵיim-chas/REwith those lackingאֱמוּנָה׃e/mu/NAfaith

    The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

47. 47

    וְהָעֶבֶדve/ha/E/vedand the servantהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָדַעya/DAknewאֶת־רְצוֹןet-re/TSONthe will ofאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis lordוְלֹאve/LOand notהֵכִיןhe/KHINpreparedוְלֹא־עָשָׂהve/LO-a/SAand did not doכִרְצוֹנוֹkhir/tso/NOaccording to his willיֻכֶּהyuk/KEwill be struckמַכּוֹתmak/KOTblowsרַבּוֹת׃rab/BOTmany

    And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

48. 48

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAdid not knowוְעָשָׂהve/a/SAand didדְבָרִיםde/va/RIMthingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהוּאhuheחַיָּבchay/YAVdeservesעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMfor themמַכּוֹתmak/KOTblowsלֹא־יֻכֶּהlo-yuk/KEwill be struckכִּיkibutאִם־מְעָטim-me/ATonly a fewכִּיkiforכׇל־אִישׁkhol-ishevery manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִתַּן־לוֹnit/TAN-lois givenהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmuchדָּרוֹשׁda/ROSHrequireיִדָּרֵשׁyid/da/RESHwill be requiredמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof himהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmuchוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whomהִפְקִידוּhif/ki/DUthey entrustedבְיָדוֹve/ya/DOinto his handהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmuchיִשְׁאֲלוּyish/a/LUthey will askמֵאִתּוֹme/it/TOof himיוֹתֵר׃yo/TERmore

    But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

49. 49

    אֲנִיa/NIIבָּאתִיBA/tiI have comeלְשַׁלַּחle/shal/LACHto sendאֵשׁeshfireבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson the earthוּמֶה־חָפַצְתִּיu/ME-cha/FATS/tiand what do I desireכִּיkiifכְבָרkhe/VARalreadyבָּעָרָה׃ba/a/RAit is kindled

    I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

50. 50

    וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there isלִיlito meלְהִטָּבֵלle/hit/ta/VELto be baptized withטְבִילָהte/vi/LAa baptismאֶחָתe/CHAToneוּמַה־יֵּצַרu/MA-ye/TSARand how it distressesלִיlimeעַדaduntilכִּי־תְכֻלֶּה׃ki-te/khul/LEit is completed

    But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

51. 51

    הַאֹמְרִיםha/om/RIMdo thinkאַתֶּםat/TEMyouשֶׁבָּאתִיsheb/BA/tithat I cameלָתֵתla/TETto giveשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson earthאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMyouלֹאlonoכִּיkibutאִםimratherמַחֲלֹקֶת׃ma/cha/LO/ketdivision

    Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

52. 52

    כִּיkiforמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom now onחֲמִשָּׁהcha/mish/SHAfiveבְּבַיִתbe/VA/yitin a houseאֶחָדe/CHADoneיֵחָלֵקוּye/cha/le/KUwill be dividedשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeעַל־שְׁנַיִםal-she/NA/yimagainst twoוּשְׁנַיִםu/she/NA/yimand twoעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁה׃al-she/lo/SHAagainst three

    For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

53. 53

    הָאָבha/AVthe fatherיֵחָלֵקye/cha/LEKwill be dividedעַל־הַבֵּןal-hab/BENagainst the sonוְהַבֵּןve/hab/BENand the sonעַל־הָאָבal-ha/AVagainst the fatherהָאֵםha/EMthe motherעַל־הַבַּתal-hab/BATagainst the daughterוְהַבַּתve/hab/BATand the daughterעַל־הָאֵםal-ha/EMagainst the motherהֶחָמוֹתhe/cha/MOTthe mother-in-lawעַל־הַכַּלָּהal-hak/kal/LAagainst the daughter-in-lawוְהַכַּלָּהve/hak/kal/LAand the daughter-in-lawעַל־הֶחָמוֹת׃al-he/cha/MOTagainst her mother-in-law

    The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

54. 54

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגַּםgamalsoאֶל־הֲמוֹןel-ha/MONto the crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleכִּרְאֹתְכֶםkir/ot/KHEMwhen you seeאֶת־הָעָבet-ha/AVa cloudעֹלֶהo/LErisingבַמַּעֲרָבvam/ma/a/RAVin the westוַאֲמַרְתֶּםva/a/mar/TEMand you sayגֶּשֶׁםGE/shema showerבָּאbais comingוְכֵןve/KHENand soיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEit is

    And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.

55. 55

    וְאִם־נָשְׁבָהve/IM-NASH/vaand if blowsרוּחַRU/achthe wind ofהַנֶּגֶבhan/NE/gevthe southתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou sayהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdחֹםchomheatבָּאbais comingוְגַםve/GAMand soיָבוֹא׃ya/VOit comes

    And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

56. 56

    הַחֲנֵפִיםha/cha/ne/FIMhypocritesיֹדְעִיםyod/IMknowאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלִבְחֹןliv/CHONto testאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe face ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוְהַשָּׁמָיִםve/hash/sha/MA/yimand of the skyוְאֶת־הָעֵתve/ET-ha/ETbut the timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֵיךְekhhow is itלֹאlonotתִבְחֲנוּtiv/cha/NUyou testאֹתָהּ׃o/TAit

    Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

57. 57

    מַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyמֵעַצְמְכֶםme/ats/me/KHEMof yourselvesאֵינְכֶםe/ne/KHEMdo you notדָּנִיםda/NIMjudgeדִּיןdina judgment ofאֱמֶת׃e/METtruth

    Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

58. 58

    כִּיkiwhenבְּלֶכְתְּךָbe/lekh/te/KHAyou goאֶל־הַשַּׂרel-has/SARto the rulerעִם־אִישׁim-ishwith the man ofרִיבֶךָri/VE/khayour strifeהִשְׁתַּדֵּלhish/tad/DELstriveלְהִנָּצֵלle/hin/na/TSELto be deliveredמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himבְּעוֹדְךָbe/od/KHAwhile you are stillבַדָּרֶךְvad/DA/rekhon the roadפֶּן־יִסְחַבpen-yis/CHAVlest he dragאוֹתְךָot/KHAyouאֶל־הַשֹּׁפֵטel-hash/sho/FETto the judgeוְהַשֹּׁפֵטve/hash/sho/FETand the judgeיִמְסָרְךָyim/sa/re/KHAdeliver youאֶל־הַשּׁוֹטֵרel-hash/sho/TERto the officerוְהַשּׁוֹטֵרve/hash/sho/TERand the officerיַשְׁלִיכְךָyash/li/khe/KHAthrow youאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the house ofהַכֶּלֶא׃hak/KE/leconfinement

    When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

59. 59

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלְךָle/KHAyouלֹאlonotתֵצֵאte/TSEwill you go outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereעַדaduntilאִם־שִׁלַּמְתָּim-shil/lam/TAyou have paidגַּםgamevenאֶת־הַפְּרוּטָהet-hap/pe/ru/TAthe coinהָאַחֲרוֹנָה׃ha/a/cha/ro/NAlast

    I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
