   Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

   Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

   It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּדַעte/DAyou may knowאֱמֶתe/METthe truth ofהָאֲמָרִיםha/a/ma/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֻמָּדְתָּ׃lum/mad/TAyou were taught

   That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

   כֹּהֵןko/HENa priestהָיָהha/YAthere wasבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameמִמִּשְׁמֶרֶתmim/mish/ME/retof the course ofאֲבִיָּהA/viy/YAAbijahוְלוֹve/LOand he hadאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughters ofאַהֲרֹןA/ha/RONAaronוּשְׁמָהּu/she/MAand her nameאֱלִישֶׁבַע׃E/li/SHE/vaElisheba

   There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judæa, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

   וּשְׁנֵיהֶםu/she/ne/HEMand both of themצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMrighteousלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְהֹלְכֵיve/hol/KHEand walkingתֹםtomintegrityבְּכׇל־מִצְוֹתbe/KHOL-mits/VOTin all the commandments ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDוּבְחֻקֹּתָיו׃u/ve/chuk/ko/TAYVand in His statutes

   And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

   וְלָהֶםve/la/HEMand they hadאֵיןennoוָלָדva/LADchildכִּיkiforאֱלִישֶׁבַעE/li/SHE/vaElishebaעֲקָרָהa/ka/RAwas barrenוּשְׁנֵיהֶםu/she/ne/HEMand both of themבָּאוּBA/uhad comeבַיָּמִים׃vay/ya/MIMinto days

   And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayבְּכַהֲנוֹbe/kha/ha/NOas he served as priestלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבְּסֵדֶרbe/SE/derin the order ofמִשְׁמָרוֹ׃mish/ma/ROhis course

   And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

   לְהַקְטִירle/hak/TIRto burnקְטֹרֶתke/TO/retincenseלְפִיle/FIaccording toגוֹרָלוֹgo/ra/LOhis lotכְּמִשְׁפַּטke/mish/PATaccording to the custom ofעֲבוֹדַתa/vo/DATthe service ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he enteredאֶל־הֵיכַלel-he/KHALinto the temple ofיְהוָֹה׃Adonaithe LORD

   According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

10. 10

    וְכׇל־קְהַלve/KHOL-ke/HALand all the congregation ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמִתְפַּלֲּלִיםmit/pal/la/LIMprayingבַּחוּץba/CHUTSoutsideבְּשַׁעַתbe/SHA/atat the hour ofהַקְּטֹרֶת׃hak/ke/TO/retthe incense

    And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

11. 11

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמַלְאַךְmal/AKHan angel ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDנִרְאָהnir/Aappearedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himעֹמֵדo/MEDstandingמִימִיןmi/MINat the right ofמִזְבַּחmiz/BACHthe altar ofהַקְּטֹרֶת׃hak/ke/TO/retthe incense

    And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12. 12

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahוַיִּבָּהֵלvay/yib/ba/HELand was terrifiedוְאֵימָהve/e/MAand dreadנָפְלָהna/fe/LAfellעָלָיו׃a/LAYVupon him

    And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearזְכַרְיָהוּZe/khar/YA/huZechariahכִּיkiforנִשְׁמְעָהnish/me/Ahas been heardתְּפִלָּתֶךָte/fil/la/TE/khayour prayerוֶאֱלִישֶׁבַעVe/e/li/SHE/vaand Elishebaאִשְׁתְּךָish/te/KHAyour wifeתֵּלֵדte/LEDwill bearלְךָle/KHAto youבֵּןbena sonוְקָרָאתָve/ka/RA/taand you shall callשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameיוֹחָנָן׃Yo/cha/NANJohn

    But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

14. 14

    וְהָיָה־לְךָve/ha/YA-le/KHAand he will be to youלְשִׂמְחָהle/sim/CHAfor joyוָגִילva/GILand gladnessוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyיִשְׂמְחוּyis/me/CHUwill rejoiceבְּהִוָּלְדוֹ׃be/hiv/va/le/DOat his birth

    And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

15. 15

    כִּי־גָדוֹלki-ga/DOLfor greatיִהְיֶהyih/YEhe will beלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDוְיַיִןve/YA/yinand wineוְשֵׁכָרve/she/KHARand strong drinkלֹאlonotיִשְׁתֶּהyish/TEwill he drinkוְרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁve/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshand the Holy Spiritיִמָּלֵאyim/MA/lehe will be filled withמִבֶּטֶןmib/BE/tenfrom the womb ofאִמּוֹ׃im/MOhis mother

    For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

16. 16

    וְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelיָשִׁיבya/SHIVhe will turnאֶל־יְהוָֹהel-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMtheir God

    And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

17. 17

    וְהוּאve/HUand heיֵלֵךְye/LEKHwill goלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himבְּרוּחַbe/RU/achin the spirit ofאֵלִיָּסE/liy/YASEliasוּבִגְבוּרָתוֹu/vig/vu/ra/TOand in his powerלְהָשִׁיבle/ha/SHIVto turnלֵבlevthe heart ofאָבוֹתa/VOTfathersעַל־בָּנִיםal-ba/NIMto sonsוְאֵתve/ETandהַסּוֹרֲרִיםhas/so/ra/RIMthe rebelliousבִּתְבוּנַתbit/vu/NATto the understanding ofהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMthe righteousלְהַעֲמִידle/ha/a/MIDto establishעַםama peopleמוּכָןmu/KHANpreparedלַיהוָֹה׃la-Adonaifor the LORD

    And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahאֶל־הַמַּלְאָךְel-ham/mal/AKHto the angelבַּמָּהbam/MAby whatאֵדַעe/DAshall I knowאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIfor Iזָקַנְתִּיza/KAN/tiam oldוְאִשְׁתִּיve/ish/TIand my wifeבָּאָהba/Ahas comeבַיָּמִים׃vay/ya/MIMinto days

    And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

19. 19

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲנִיa/NII amגַבְרִיאֵלGav/ri/ELGabrielהָעוֹמֵדha/o/MEDwho standsלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְשָׁלוּחַve/sha/LU/achand sentאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIam Iלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוּלְבַשֶּׂרְךָu/le/vas/ser/KHAand to bring you good newsאֶת־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהet-hab/be/so/RAthe good newsהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

20. 20

    וְהִנְּךָve/hin/ne/KHAand behold youנֶאֱלָםne/e/LAMmuteוְלֹאve/LOand notתוּכַלtu/KHALableלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMuntil the dayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָקוּםya/KUMwill come aboutהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisתַּחַתTA/chatbecauseכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notהֶאֱמַנְתָּhe/e/man/TAyou believedלִדְבָרַיlid/va/RAYmy wordsוְהֵםve/HEMand theyיִמָּלְאוּyim/ma/le/Uwill be fulfilledבְּמוֹעֲדָם׃be/mo/a/DAMin their appointed time

    And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

21. 21

    וְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleהוֹחִילוּho/chi/LUwere waitingלִזְכַרְיָהLiz/khar/YAfor Zechariahוַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand they marveledכִּי־הִתְמַהְמַהּki-hit/mah/MAthat he delayedבַּהֵיכָל׃ba/he/KHALin the temple

    And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

22. 22

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְצֵאתוֹve/tse/TOwhen he came outלֹאlonotיָכֹלya/KHOLwas he ableלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוַיֵּדְעוּvay/yed/Uand they knewכִּי־מַרְאָהki-mar/Athat a visionרָאָהra/Ahe had seenבַּהֵיכָלba/he/KHALin the templeוַיִּרְמֹזvay/yir/MOZand he signaledלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְעוֹדֶנּוּve/o/DEN/nuand he remainedנֶאֱלָם׃ne/e/LAMmute

    And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenמָלְאוּma/le/Uwere completedיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofעֲבֹדָתוֹa/vo/da/TOhis serviceוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand he returnedאֶל־בֵּיתוֹ׃el-be/TOto his house

    And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

24. 24

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחַרa/CHARafterהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַתַּהַרvat/TA/harconceivedאֱלִישֶׁבַעE/li/SHE/vaElishebaאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeוַתִּתְחַבֵּאvat/tit/chab/BEand she hid herselfחֲמִשָּׁהcha/mish/SHAfiveחֳדָשִׁיםcho/da/SHIMmonthsוַתֹּאמַר׃vat/to/MARand she said

    And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

    כָּכָהKA/khathusעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneלִיlito meיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDבִּימֵיbi/MEin the daysפָקְדוֹfa/ke/DOHe visitedאוֹתִיo/TImeלֶאֱסֹףle/e/SOFto take awayאֶת־חֶרְפָּתִיet-cher/pa/TImy reproachמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEfrom among the sons ofאָדָם׃a/DAMmen

    Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

26. 26

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהַשִּׁשִּׁיhash/shish/SHIsixthוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHsentאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־גַּבְרִיאֵלet-Gav/ri/ELGabrielהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelגָּלִילָהGa/li/LAto Galileeאֶל־עִירel-irto a cityאַחַתa/CHAToneוּשְׁמָהּu/she/MAand its nameנְצָרֶת׃Ne/TSA/retNazareth

    And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27. 27

    אֶל־בְּתוּלָהel-be/tu/LAto a virginמְאֹרָשָׂהme/o/ra/SAbetrothedלְאִישׁle/ISHto a manאֲשֶׁר־שְׁמוֹa/SHER-she/MOwhose nameיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephמִבֵּיתmib/BETof the house ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofהַבְּתוּלָהhab/be/tu/LAthe virginמִרְיָם׃Mir/YAMMary

    To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28. 28

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelהַחַדְרָהha/CHAD/rainto the roomוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceלָךְlakhto youאֵשֶׁת־חֵןE/shet-chenwoman of graceיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDעִמָּךְim/MAKHis with youבְּרוּכָהbe/ru/KHAblessedאַתְּattare youבַּנָּשִׁים׃ban/na/SHIMamong women

    And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29. 29

    וְהִיאve/HIand sheבִּרְאוֹתָהּbir/o/TAwhen she sawנִבְהֲלָהniv/ha/LAwas troubledלִדְבָרוֹlid/va/ROat his wordוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand she saidבְּלִבָּהּbe/lib/BAin her heartמָהmawhatהַבְּרָכָהhab/be/ra/KHAis the greetingהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהּlato herהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelאַל־תִּירְאִיal-ti/re/Ido not fearמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryכִּי־מָצָאתְki-ma/TSATfor you have foundחֵןchenfavorלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31. 31

    וְהִנָּךְve/hin/NAKHand behold youהָרָהha/RAwill conceiveוְיֹלַדְתְּve/yo/LADTand bearבֵּןbena sonוְקָרָאתְve/ka/RATand you shall callאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOhis nameיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32. 32

    וְהוּאve/HUand heגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beוּבֶן־עֶלְיוֹןu/VEN-el/YONand Son of the Most Highיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REhe will be calledוַיהוָֹהve-Adonaiand the LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodיִתֶּן־לוֹyit/TEN-lowill give himאֶת־כִּסֵּאet-kis/SEthe throne ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33. 33

    וּמָלַךְu/MA/lakhand he will reignעַל־בֵּיתal-betover the house ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverוָעֶדva/EDand everוּלְמַלְכוּתוֹu/le/mal/khu/TOand to his kingdomאֵיןenthere will be noקֵץ׃ketsend

    And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34. 34

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryאֶל־הַמַּלְאָךְel-ham/mal/AKHto the angelאֵיךְekhhowיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֵינֶנִּיe/NEN/nido notיֹדַעַתyo/DA/atknowאִישׁ׃isha man

    Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35. 35

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritתָּבוֹאta/VOwill comeעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhupon youוּגְבוּרַתu/ge/vu/RATand the power ofעֶלְיוֹןEl/YONthe Most Highתָּצֵלta/TSELwill overshadowעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhyouעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeגַּם־הַקָּדוֹשׁgam-hak/ka/DOSHalso the holy oneהַנּוֹלָדhan/no/LADwho will be bornמִמֵּךְmim/MEKHof youיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be calledבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים׃ben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of God

    And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36. 36

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֱלִישֶׁבַעE/li/SHE/vaElishebaקְרוֹבָתֵךְke/ro/va/TEKHyour relativeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomקָרְאוּ־לָהּka/re/U-lathey calledעֲקָרָהa/ka/RAbarrenגַּם־הִיאgam-hishe alsoהָרָהha/RAhas conceivedלָלֶדֶתla/LE/detto bearבֵּןbena sonבְּזִקְנָתָהּbe/zik/na/TAin her old ageוְזֶהve/ZEand this isלָּהּlato herהַחֹדֶשׁha/CHO/deshthe monthהַשִּׁשִּׁי׃hash/shish/SHIsixth

    And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37. 37

    כִּיkiforלֹא־יִפָּלֵאlo-yip/pa/LEwill not be too hardמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfor Godכׇּל־דָּבָר׃kol-da/VARany thing

    For with God nothing shall be impossible.

38. 38

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryהִנְנִיhin/NIhere I amשִׁפְחַתshif/CHATthe handmaid ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDיְהִי־לִיye/HI-lilet it be to meכִּדְבָרֶךָkid/va/RE/khaaccording to your wordוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outמֵאִתָּהּme/it/TAfrom herהַמַּלְאָךְ׃ham/mal/AKHthe angel

    And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

39. 39

    And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

40. 40

    וַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOand she enteredבֵּיתbetthe house ofזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahוַתְּבָרֶךְvat/te/VA/rekhand greetedאֶת־אֱלִישֶׁבַע׃et-E/li/SHE/vaElisheba

    And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

41. 41

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardאֱלִישֶׁבַעE/li/SHE/vaElishebaאֶת־בִּרְכַּתet-bir/KATthe greeting ofמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryוַיִּרְקַדvay/yir/KADleapedהַיֶּלֶדhay/YE/ledthe childבְּמֵעֶיהָbe/me/e/HAin her wombוַתִּמָּלֵאvat/tim/ma/LEand was filledאֱלִישֶׁבַעE/li/SHE/vaElishebaרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃RU/ach-Hak/KO/deshwith the Holy Spirit

    And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

42. 42

    וַתִּקְרָאvat/tik/RAand she called outבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLloudוַתֹּאמַרvat/to/MARand saidבְּרוּכָהbe/ru/KHAblessedאַתְּattare youבַּנָּשִׁיםban/na/SHIMamong womenוּבָרוּךְu/va/RUKHand blessed isפְּרִיpe/RIthe fruit ofבִטְנֵךְ׃vit/NEKHyour womb

    And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43. 43

    וּמַה־לִּיu/MA-liand what is to meכִּי־אֵםki-emthat the mother ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordבָּאָהba/Ahas comeאֵלָי׃e/LAYto me

    And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44. 44

    כִּיkiforקוֹלkolthe voice ofבִּרְכָתֵךְbir/kha/TEKHyour greetingבָּאbacameבְאׇזְנָיve/oz/NAYinto my earsוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרָקַדra/KADleapedבְּשִׂמְחָהbe/sim/CHAwith joyהַיֶּלֶדhay/YE/ledthe childבְּמֵעָי׃be/me/AYin my womb

    For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45. 45

    וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed isהַמַּאֲמִינָהham/ma/a/mi/NAshe who believedכִּיkiforהִמָּלֵאhim/ma/LEbe fulfilledיִמָּלֵאyim/MA/lewill be fulfilledאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatדֻּבַּר־לָהּdub/BAR-lawas spoken to herמֵאֵתme/ETfromיְהוָֹה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

46. 46

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryתְּגַדֵּלte/gad/DELmagnifiesנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulאֶת־יְהוָֹה׃et-Adonaithe LORD

    And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47. 47

    וַתָּגֶלvat/TA/geland has rejoicedרוּחִיru/CHImy spiritבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMin Godמוֹשִׁיעִי׃Mo/shi/Imy Saviour

    And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

48. 48

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERforרָאָהra/AHe has lookedבׇּעֳנִיbo/o/NIon the affliction ofאֲמָתוֹa/ma/TOHis handmaidכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom now onיְאַשְּׁרוּנִיye/ash/she/ru/NIwill call me blessedכׇּל־הַדֹּרוֹת׃kol-had/do/ROTall the generations

    For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

49. 49

    כִּיkiforגְדֹלוֹתge/do/LOTgreat thingsעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneלִיlifor meהַגִּבּוֹרhag/gib/BORhe that is mightyוְקָדוֹשׁve/ka/DOSHand holyשְׁמוֹ׃she/MOis His name

    For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

50. 50

    וְחַסְדּוֹve/chas/DOand His lovingkindnessלְדוֹרle/DORto generationדּוֹרִיםdo/RIMof generationsעַלalis onיְרֵאָיו׃ye/re/AYVthose who fear Him

    And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

51. 51

    גְּבוּרוֹתge/vu/ROTmighty deedsעָשָׂהa/SAHe has doneבִּזְרֹעוֹbiz/ro/Owith His armפִּזַּרpiz/ZARHe has scatteredגֵּאִיםge/IMthe proudבִּמְזִמּוֹתbim/zim/MOTin the schemes ofלִבָּם׃lib/BAMtheir heart

    He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52. 52

    הָרַסha/RASHe has torn downנְדִיבִיםne/di/VIMnoblesמִכִּסְאוֹתָםmik/kis/o/TAMfrom their thronesוַיָּרֶםvay/YA/remand exaltedשְׁפָלִים׃she/fa/LIMthe lowly

    He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

53. 53

    רְעֵבִיםre/e/VIMthe hungryמִלֵּא־טוֹבmil/LE-tovHe has filled with goodוַעֲשִׁירִיםva/a/shi/RIMand the richשִׁלַּחshil/LACHHe has sent awayרֵיקָם׃re/KAMempty

    He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

54. 54

    תָּמַךְta/MAKHHe has upheldבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלBe/yis/ra/ELIsraelעַבְדּוֹav/DOHis servantלִזְכֹּרliz/KORto rememberאֶת־רַחֲמָיו׃et-ra/cha/MAYVHis mercies

    He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

55. 55

    כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeאֶל־אֲבוֹתֵינוּel-a/vo/TE/nuto our fathersלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamוּלְזַרְעוֹu/le/zar/Oand to his seedעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

56. 56

    וַתֵּשֶׁבvat/TE/shevand stayedמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryעִמָּהּim/MAwith herכִּשְׁלֹשָׁהkish/lo/SHAabout threeחֳדָשִׁיםcho/da/SHIMmonthsוַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovand returnedלְבֵיתָהּ׃le/ve/TAto her house

    And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

57. 57

    וַיִּמְלְאוּvay/yim/le/Uand were fulfilledיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofאֱלִישֶׁבַעE/li/SHE/vaElishebaלָלֶדֶתla/LE/detto give birthוַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand she boreבֵּן׃bena son

    Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

58. 58

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardשְׁכֵנֶיהָshe/khe/NE/haher neighborsוּקְרוֹבֶיהָu/ke/ro/ve/HAand her relativesכִּי־הִגְדִּילki-hig/DILthat had magnifiedיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־חַסְדּוֹet-chas/DOHis lovingkindnessעִמָּהּim/MAwith herוַיִּשְׂמְחוּvay/yis/me/CHUand they rejoicedאִתָּהּ׃it/TAwith her

    And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

59. 59

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁמִינִיhash/she/mi/NIeighthוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uthey cameלָמוּלla/MULto circumciseאֶת־הַיָּלֶדet-hay/YA/ledthe childוַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand they calledאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOhis nameזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahעַל־שֵׁםal-shemafter the name ofאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

60. 60

    וַתַּעַןvat/TA/anand answeredאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherוַתֹּאמַרvat/to/MARand saidלֹאlonoכִּיkibutיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be calledלוֹ׃lohim

    And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

61. 61

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herאֵין־אִישׁen-ishthere is no manבְּמִשְׁפַּחְתֵּךְbe/mish/pach/TEKHin your familyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameכַּשֵּׁםkash/SHEMlike the nameהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

62. 62

    וַיִּרְמְזוּvay/yir/me/ZUand they signaledאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowמָהmawhatהַשֵּׁםhash/SHEMthe nameאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REhe would be calledלוֹ׃loto him

    And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

63. 63

    וַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand he asked forלוּחַLU/acha tabletוַיִּכְתֹּבvay/yikh/TOVand wroteעָלָיוa/LAYVon itלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnשְׁמוֹshe/MOis his nameוַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand marveledכֻּלָּם׃kul/LAMall of them

    And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

64. 64

    וַיִּפָּתַחvay/yip/PA/tachand was openedפִּיוpivhis mouthוּלְשׁוֹנוֹu/le/sho/NOand his tongueפִּתְאֹםpit/OMsuddenlyוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand he spokeוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים׃et-ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

65. 65

    וַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand fellאֵימָהe/MAdreadעַל־כׇּל־שְׁכֵנֵיהֶםal-kol-she/khe/ne/HEMon all their neighborsוַיְסֻפַּרvay/sup/PARand were toldכׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםkol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּכׇל־הָרֵיbe/KHOL-ha/REin all the hill country ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

    And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judæa.

66. 66

    וַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/muand putכׇל־הַשֹּׁמְעִיםkhol-hash/shom/IMall who heardאֶל־לִבָּםel-lib/BAMon their heartלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָה־אֵפוֹאma-e/FOwhat thenיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beהַיֶּלֶדhay/YE/ledthe childהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְיַד־יְהוָֹהve/YAD-Adonaiand the hand of the LORDהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

67. 67

    וַיִּמָּלֵאvay/yim/ma/LEand was filledזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshwith the Holy Spiritוַיִּנָּבֵאvay/yin/na/VEand he prophesiedלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

68. 68

    בָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed beיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכִּיkiforפָקַדfa/KADHe has visitedאֶת־עַמּוֹet-am/MOHis peopleוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentלוֹloto itפְּדוּת׃pe/DUTredemption

    Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

69. 69

    וַיַּצְמַחvay/yats/MACHand has made sproutלָנוּLA/nufor usקֶרֶןKE/rena horn ofיְשׁוּעָהye/shu/Asalvationבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַבְדּוֹ׃av/DOHis servant

    And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

70. 70

    כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeבְּפִי־נְבִיאָיוbe/FI-ne/vi/AYVby the mouth of His prophetsהַקְּדוֹשִׁיםhak/ke/do/SHIMthe holyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereמֵעוֹלָם׃me/o/LAMfrom of old

    As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

71. 71

    יְשׁוּעָהye/shu/Asalvationמֵאֹיְבֵינוּme/oy/VE/nufrom our enemiesוּמִיַּדu/miy/YADand from the hand ofכׇּל־שֹׂנְאֵינוּ׃kol-son/E/nuall who hate us

    That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

72. 72

    לַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doחֶסֶדCHE/sedlovingkindnessעִם־אֲבוֹתֵינוּim-a/vo/TE/nuwith our fathersוְלִזְכֹּרve/liz/KORand to rememberאֶת־בְּרִיתet-be/RITthe covenant ofקׇדְשׁוֹ׃kod/SHOHis holiness

    To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

73. 73

    אֶת־הַשְּׁבוּעָהet-hash/she/vu/Athe oathאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAHe sworeלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamאָבִינוּ׃a/VI/nuour father

    The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

74. 74

    לְהַצִּילֵנוּle/hats/tsi/LE/nuto deliver usמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofאֹיְבֵינוּoy/VE/nuour enemiesוּלְתִתֵּנוּu/le/tit/TE/nuand to grant usלְעׇבְדוֹle/ov/DOto serve Himבְּלִי־פָחַד׃be/LI-FA/chadwithout fear

    That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

75. 75

    בְּקֹדֶשׁbe/KO/deshin holinessוּבִצְדָקָהu/vits/da/KAand in righteousnessלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himכׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the days ofחַיֵּינוּ׃chay/YE/nuour life

    In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

76. 76

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youהַיֶּלֶדhay/YE/ledthe childנְבִיאne/VIa prophet ofעֶלְיוֹןEl/YONthe Most Highיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be calledלָךְlakhyouכִּיkiforלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDתֵּלֵךְte/LEKHyou will goלְפַנּוֹתle/fan/NOTto prepareאֶת־דְּרָכָיו׃et-de/ra/KHAYVHis ways

    And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

77. 77

    לָתֵתla/TETto giveדַּעַתDA/atknowledge ofהַיְשׁוּעָהhay/shu/Athe salvationלְעַמּוֹle/am/MOto His peopleבִּסְלִיחַתbis/li/CHATby the forgiveness ofחַטֹּאתֵיהֶם׃chat/to/te/HEMtheir sins

    To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

78. 78

    בְּחֶסֶדbe/CHE/sedthrough the lovingkindness ofאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godוּבְרַחֲמָיוu/ve/ra/cha/MAYVand through His merciesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּהֶםba/HEMwith themפְּקָדָנוּpe/ka/da/NUhas visited usהַנֹּגַהּhan/NO/gathe dawningמִמָּרוֹם׃mim/ma/ROMfrom on high

    Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

79. 79

    לְהָאִירle/ha/IRto give lightלְיֹשְׁבֵיle/yosh/VEto those who sit inחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhdarknessוְצַלְמָוֶתve/tsal/MA/vetand the shadow of deathוּלְהָכִיןu/le/ha/KHINand to directאֶת־רַגְלֵינוּet-rag/LE/nuour feetאֶל־דֶּרֶךְel-DE/rekhto the way ofהַשָּׁלוֹם׃hash/sha/LOMpeace

    To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

80. 80

    וַיִּגְדַּלvay/yig/DALand grewהַיֶּלֶדhay/YE/ledthe childוַיֶּחֱזַקvay/ye/che/ZAKand grew strongבָּרוּחַba/RU/achin spiritוַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasבַמִּדְבָּרוֹתvam/mid/ba/ROTin the wildernessesעַד־יוֹםad-yomuntil the day ofהֵרָאֹתוֹhe/ra/o/TOhis appearingאֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃el-Yis/ra/ELto Israel

    And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
