    וְיֵשׁוּעַJesusהָלַךְwentאֶל־הַרunto the mount ofהַזֵּיתִים׃Olives.

    Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

    וַיְהִיAndבַבֹּקֶרearly in the morningוַיָּבֹאhe cameעוֹדagainאֶל־הַמִּקְדָּשׁinto the temple,וְכׇל־הָעָםand all the peopleבָּאוּcameאֵלָיוunto him;וַיֵּשֶׁבand he sat down,וַיְלַמְּדֵם׃and taught them.

    And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

    וַיָּבִיאוּAnd broughtהַסּוֹפְרִיםthe scribesוְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםand Phariseesלְפָנָיוunto himאִשָּׁהa womanאֲשֶׁרwhichנִתְפְּשָׂהwas takenוְהִיאand sheנֹאָפֶתin adultery;וַיַּעֲמִידוּהָand when they had set herבַּתָּוֶךְ׃in the midst,

    And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

    וַיֹּאמְרוּThey sayאֵלָיוunto him,רַבִּיMaster,הָאִשָּׁהwomanהַזֹּאתthisנִתְפְּשָׂהwas takenעַלinמַעֲשֵׂהthe very act.נִאוּפָהּ׃adultery,

    They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

    וּמשֶׁהNow Mosesצִוָּנוּcommanded us,בַתּוֹרָהin the lawלִסְקֹלto stoneנָשִׁיםwomenכָּאֵלֶּהsuch:וְאַתָּהbut whatמַה־תֹּאמַר׃say you?

    Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

    וְהֵםThis theyלְנַסּוֹתto tempt him,אֹתוֹhimדִּבְּרוּ־זֹאתsaid,לִמְצֹאthat they might findעָלָיוagainst himשִׂטְנָהan accusation.וַיִּתְכּוֹפֵףBut stooped down,יֵשׁוּעַJesusלְמַטָּהdown,וַיְתָוand wroteבְּאֶצְבָּעוֹwith his fingerעַל־הַקַּרְקָע׃on the ground,

    This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

    וַיְהִיSoכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenהוֹסִיפוּthey continuedלִשְׁאֹלaskingאֹתוֹhim,וַיִּשָּׂאhe lifted upאֶת־עֵינָיוhis eyes,וַיֹּאמֶרhimself, and saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,מִיHe that isבָכֶםamong you,חַףis cleanמִפֶּשַׁעfrom transgression,הוּאlet himיַדֶּה־בָּהּcastאֶבֶןa stoneבָּרִאשׁוֹנָה׃first.

    So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

    וַיִּתְכּוֹפֵףAnd again he stooped down,שֵׁנִיתagainלְמָטָּהdown,וַיְתָוand wroteעַל־הַקַּרְקַע׃on the ground.

    And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

  9. 9

    הֵםtheyשָׁמְעוּAnd which heard it,וְלִבָּםtheir own heartנֹקְפָםconvicting them,וַיֵּצְאוּwent outאֶחָדoneאֶחָדby one,הָחֵלbeginningמִן־הַזְּקֵנִיםat the eldest,וְעַדeven untoהָאַחֲרוֹנִיםthe last:וַיִּוָּתֵרand was leftיֵשׁוּעַJesusלְבַדּוֹalone,וְהַאִשָּׁהand the womanעֹמֶדֶתstandingבַּתָּוֶךְ׃in the midst.

    And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

    וַיִּשָּׂאWhen had lifted up himself,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶת־עֵינָיוhis eyes,וַיַּרְאand sawכִּי־אֵיןnoneאִישׁbutבִּלְתִּיsaveהָאִשָּׁהthe woman,לְבַדָּהּalone,וַיֹּאמֶרhe saidאֵלֶיהָunto her,אִשָּׁהWoman,אֵיפֹהwhere areשׂטְנַיִךְthose your accusers?הֲהִרְשִׁיעָךְhath condemned you?אִישׁ׃no man

    When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

    וַתֹּאמֶרAnd she said,לֹאNo man,אֶחָדoneאֲדֹנִיLord.וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidלָכֵןtherefore,גַּם־אֲנִיNeither do Iלֹאnotאַרְשִׁיעֵךְcondemn you:לְכִיgo,לְדַרְכֵּךְyour way,וְאַלandתֶּחֶטְאִיsinעוֹד׃no more.

    She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

    וַיֹּסֶףThen againיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיְדַבֵּרspakeאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֲנִיI amאוֹרthe light ofהָעוֹלָםthe world:כׇּל־הַהֹלֵךְhe that followethאַחֲרַיmeלֹאnotיִתְהַלֵּךְshall walkבַּחֲשֵׁכָהin darkness,כִּי־אוֹרbut shall have the light ofהַחַיִּיםlife.יִהְיֶה־לּוֹ׃shall he have.

    Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּSaidהַפְּרוּשִׁיםThe Phariseesעַל־נַפְשְׁךָof thyself;אַתָּהtherefore unto him, Youמֵעִידbearest recordעֵדוּתְךָyour recordאֵינֶנָּהis notנֶאֱמָנָה׃true.

    The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

    וַיַּעַןAnsweredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אַףThoughאִם־אָעִידI bear recordעַל־נַפְשִׁיof myself,עֵדוּתִיmy recordאֱמֶתis true:יַעַןforאֲשֶׁר־יָדַעְתִּיI knowמֵאַיִןwhenceבָּאתִיI came,וְאָנָהand whitherאֲנִיIהֹלֵךְgo;וְאַתֶּםbut youלֹאcannotיְדַעְתֶּםtellמֵאַיִןwhenceבָּאתִיI come,וְאָנָהand whitherאֵלֵךְ׃I go.

    Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.

    אַתֶּםYouלְפִיafterהַבָּשָׂרthe flesh;תִּשְׁפֹּטוּjudgeוַאֲנִיIלֹאnoאֶשְׁפֹּטjudgeאִישׁ׃man.

    Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

  16. 16

    וְכִיAnd yet ifאֶשְׁפֹּטI judge,אָנֹכִיIמִשְׁפָּטִיmy judgmentאֶמֱתis true:כִּיforלֹאnotלְבַדִּיalone,אָנִיI amכִּיbutאִםratherאֲנִיIוְהָאָבand the Fatherאֲשֶׁרthatשְׁלָחָנִי׃sent me.

    And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

    וְגַםIt is alsoבְּתוֹרַתְכֶםin your lawכָּתוּבwritten,כִּיthatעֵדוּתthe testimony ofשְׁנֵיtwoאֲנָשִׁיםmenנֶאֱמָנָהis true.הִיא׃she

    It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

  18. 18

    אֲנִיIהוּאam oneהַמֵּעִידthat bear witnessעָלָיof myself,וְגַם־הָאָבand the Fatherאֲשֶׁרthatשְׁלָחַנִיsent meיְעִידֵנִי׃beareth witness of me.

    I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

  19. 19

    וַיֹּאמְרוּThen said theyאֵלָיוunto him,אָבִיךָFather?אַיּוֹWhere is yourוַיַּעַןAnswered,יֵשׁוּעַJesusגַּם־אֹתִיYou neither know me,גַּםnorאֶת־אָבִיmy Father:לֹאnotיְדַעְתֶּםknow you:וְלוּifיְדַעְתֶּםyou had knownאֹתִיme,כִּיforעַתָּהthenגַּםalsoאֶת־אָבִיmy Fatherיְדַעְתֶּם׃you should have known also.

    Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

    כַּדְבָרִיםTheseהָאֵלֶּהwordsדִּבֶּרspakeבְּבֵיתin the house ofהָאוֹצָרthe treasury,בְּלַמְּדוֹas he taughtבַּמִּקְדָּשׁin the temple:וְלֹא־תְפָשׂוּand no man laid handsאִישׁa manכִּיon him; forלֹא־בָאwas not yet come.עִתּוֹ׃his hour

    These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

  21. 21

    וַיּוֹסֶףThen saidיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרagainאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אֲנִיIהֹלֵךְgo my way,מִזֶּהhenceוּתְבַקְשׁוּנִיand you shall seek me,וּבְחַטַּאתְכֶםand in your sinsתָּמוּתוּshall you die:אֶל־אֲשֶׁרwhitherאֲנִיIהֹלֵךְgo,שָׁמָּהthitherאַתֶּםyouלֹא־תוּכְלוּcannotלָבוֹא׃come.

    Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.

  22. 22

    וַיֹּאמְרוּThen saidהַיְּהוּדִיםthe Jews,הַיְאַבֵּדWill he killעַצְמוֹhimself?כִּיbecauseאָמַרhe saith,אֶל־אֲשֶׁרWhitherאֲנִיIהוֹלֵךְgo,שָׁמָּהthitherאַתֶּםyouלֹא־תוּכְלוּcannotלָבוֹא׃come.

    Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.

  23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אַתֶּםYouהִנְּכֶםareמִן־הַתַּחְתּוֹנִיםfrom beneath;וַאֲנִיIמִן־הָעֶלְיוֹנִיםam from above:אַתֶּםyouמִן־הָעוֹלָםare of world;הַזֶּהthisוַאֲנִיIאֵינֶנִּיam notמִן־הָעוֹלָםof world.הַזֶּה׃this

    And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

    לָכֵןthereforeאָמַרְתִּיsaid Iלָכֶםunto you,כִּיthatתָמוּתוּyou shall dieבַּחֲטָאֵיכֶםin your sins:כִּיforאִם־לֹאifתַאֲמִינוּyou believe notכִּי־אֲנִיthat Iהוּאam he,בַּחֲטָאֵיכֶםin your sins.תָּמוּתוּ׃you shall die

    I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּThen said theyאֵלָיוunto him,מִי־זֶהWhoאָתָּהare you?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲשֶׁרEvenגַּםalsoמֵרֹאשׁthe same thatדִבַּרְתִּיI saidלָכֶם׃unto you from the beginning.

    Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

  26. 26

    רַבּוֹתmany thingsעִמִּיI haveלְדַבֵּרto sayוְלִשְׁפֹּטand to judgeעֲלֵיכֶםof you:אָכֵןbutשֹׁלְחִיhe that sent meנֶאֱמָןis true;הוּאheוַאֲשֶׁרandשָׁמַעְתִּיI speakמִמֶּנּוּto the worldאֹתוֹthose thingsאֲדַבֵּרwhich I have heard of him.אֶל־הָעוֹלָם׃to the world.

    I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

    וְהֵםTheyלֹאnotהֵבִינוּunderstoodכִּיthatעַל־הָאָבof the Fatherאָמַרhe spakeאֲלֵיהֶם׃to them

    They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.

  28. 28

    אָזThenאָמַרsaidלָהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusבְּעֵתWhenתְּנַשְּׂאוּyou have lifted upאֶת־בֶּן־הָאָדָםthe Son of man,וִידַעְתֶּםthen shall you knowכִּי־אֲנִיthat Iהוּאam he,וְכִיand thatאֵינֶנִּיI do notעֹשֶׂהI doדָבָרnothingמִנַּפְשִׁיof myself;כִּיbutאִם־כַּאֲשֶׁרasלִמְּדַנִיhath taught me,אָבִיmy Fatherאֵלֶּהthese thingsאֲדַבֵּר׃I speak.

    Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

  29. 29

    וַאֲשֶׁרAnd he thatשָׁלַחsent meאֹתִיmeהוּאisעִמָּדִיwith me:הָאָבthe Fatherלֹאnotעֲזָבַנִיhath left meלְבָדָדalone;כִּיforאֶת־הַטּוֹבthose things that please him.בְּעֵינָיוin his eyesאֲנִיIעֹשֶׂהdoתָּמִיד׃always

    And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

  30. 30

    וַיְהִיAsבְּדַבְּרוֹhe spakeזֹאתthese words,וַיַּאֲמִינוּbelievedבוֹon him.רַבִּים׃many

    As he spake these words, many believed on him.

  31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen saidיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶל־הַיְּהוּדִיםto those Jewsהַמַּאֲמִינִיםwhich believedבּוֹon him,אִם־תַּעַמְדוּIf you continueבִדְבָרִיin my word,בֶּאֱמֶתindeed;תַּלְמִידִיםmy disciplesאַתֶּםthen are youלִי׃unto me

    Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

  32. 32

    וִידַעְתֶּםAnd you shall knowאֶת־הָאֱמֶתthe truth,וְהָאֱמֶתand the truthתּוֹצִיאֲכֶםshall make youלְחֵרוּת׃free.

    And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

  33. 33

    וַיַּעֲנוּThey answeredאֹתוֹhim,זֶרַעseed,אַבְרָהָםWe be Abraham'sאֲנַחְנוּare we,וּמִיָּמֵינוּand were neverלֹא־הָיִינוּwere we notלְאִישׁto any man:לַעֲבָדִיםin bondageוְאֵיכָהhowתֹאמַרsay you,בְּנֵיYou shall be made free?חוֹרִיןfree?תִּהְיוּ׃shall you be

    They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

  34. 34

    וַיַּעַןAnsweredאֹתָםthem,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאָמֵןVerily,אָמֵןverily,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,כׇּל־עֹשֶׂהWhosoever committethחֵטְאsinעֶבֶדis the servantהוּאheלַחֵטְא׃of sin.

    Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

  35. 35

    וְהָעֶבֶדAnd the servantלֹא־יִשְׁכֹּןabideth notבַּבַּיִתin the houseלְעוֹלָםfor ever:הַבֵּןbut the Sonיִשְׁכֹּןabidethלְעוֹלָם׃ever.

    And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

    לָכֵןthereforeאִם־הַבֵּןIf the Sonיַעֲשֶׂהtherefore shall makeאֶתְכֶםyouבְּנֵיfree,חוֹרִיןfree,חׇפְשִׁיםfreeבֶּאֱמֶתindeed.תִּהְיוּ׃you shall be

    If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

  37. 37

    יָדַעְתִּיI knowכִּי־זֶרַעthat you are seed;אַבְרָהָםAbraham'sאַתֶּםyouאֲבָלbutאַתֶּםyouמְבַקְשִׁיםseekלַהֲמִיתֵנִיto kill me,כִּיbecauseדְבָרִיmy wordלֹא־יִכֹּןhath no placeבְּתוֹכֲכֶם׃in you.

    I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

  38. 38

    אֲנִיIמְדַבֵּרspeakאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichרָאִיתִיI have seenאֵצֶלwithאָבִיmy Father:וְאַתֶּםand youעֹשִׂיםdoאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichרְאִיתֶםyou have seenאֵצֶלwithאֲבִיכֶם׃your father.

    I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

  39. 39

    וַיַּעֲנוּThey answeredוַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֵלָיוunto him,אָבִינוּOur fatherהוּאisאַבְרָהָםAbraham.וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusלוּIfהֱיִיתֶםyou wereבְּנֵיchildren,אַבְרָהָםAbraham'sכְּמַעֲשֵׂיthe works ofאַבְרָהָםAbraham.עֲשִׂיתֶם׃you would do

    They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

  40. 40

    וְעַתָּהBut nowאַתֶּםyouמְבַקְשִׁיםseekלַהֲמִיתֵנִיto kill me,אֲנִיI amהַאִישׁa manאֲשֶׁרthatדִבַּרְתִּיhath toldאֲלֵיכֶםyouהָאֱמֶתthe truth,אֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁמַעְתִּיI have heardמֵעִםofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod:אַבְרָהָםAbrahamלֹאnotעָשָׂהdidכָּזֹאת׃this.

    But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

    אֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיthe deeds ofאֲבִיכֶםyour father.אַתֶּםYouעֹשִׂיםdoוַיֹּאמְרוּThen said theyאֵלָיוunto him,לֹאnotיַלְדֵיborn ofזְנוּנִיםfornication;אֲנַחְנוּWe beיֶשׁ־לָנוּwe haveאָבFather,אֶחָדoneהוּאevenהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusלוּIfהָיָהwereאֱלֹהִיםGodאֲבִיכֶםyour Father,כִּי־עַתָּהyou would love me:אֲהַבְתֶּםyou would loveאֹתִיmeכִּיforאָנֹכִיIיָצָאתִיproceeded forthוּבָאתִיand cameמֵאֵתfromהָאֱלֹהִיםGod;הֵן־לֹא־מִמֶּנִּיneither came I of myself,בָאתִיcame I,אַךְ־הוּאbut heשְׁלָחָנִי׃sent me.

    Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

  43. 43

    מַדּוּעַWhyלֹאdo you notתֵדְעוּunderstandלְשׁוֹנִיmy speech?יַעַןeven becauseאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־תוּכְלוּןyou cannotלִשְׁמֹעַhearאֶת־דְּבָרִי׃my word.

    Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

  44. 44

    אַתֶּםYouמֵאֵתare ofאֲבִיכֶםyour fatherהַשָּׂטָןthe devil,וְלַעֲשׂוֹתand to doאֶת־תַּאֲוֹתthe lusts ofאֲבִיכֶםyour fatherחֲפַצְתֶּםyou will.הוּאHeרוֹצֵחַwas a murdererהָיָהhe wasמֵרֹאשׁfrom the beginning,וּבָאֱמֶתand abode not in the truth,לֹאnotעָמָדabode he,כִּיbecauseאֱמֶתthere is no truthאֵין־בּוֹin him.מִדֵּיWhenדַבְּרוֹhe speakethשֶׁקֶרa lie,יְדַבֵּרhe speakethמִלִּבּוֹof his own:כִּי־מְשַׁקֵּרfor he is a liar,הוּאheוַאֲבִיand the fatherהַשָּׁקֶר׃of it.

    Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

    וַאֲנִיAnd I,יַעַןbecauseדַּבְּרִיI tellהָאֱמֶתyou the truth,לֹאnot.תַאֲמִינוּyou believeלִי׃me

    And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

  46. 46

    מִיWhichבָכֶםof youעַל־עָוֹןof sin?יוֹכִיחֵנִיconvinceth meוְאִם־אֱמֶתAnd if I say the truth,דִּבַּרְתִּיI say,מַדּוּעַwhyלֹא־תַאֲמִינוּdo you not believeלִי׃me?

    Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

    אֲשֶׁרHe that isמֵאֵתofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהוּאheיִשְׁמַעhearethאֶת־דִּבְרֵיwords:הָאֱלֹהִיםGod'sוְאַתֶּםyouלֹאnot,שְׁמַעְתֶּםtherefore hear themבַּאֲשֶׁרbecauseאֵינְכֶםyou are notמֵאֵתofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

  48. 48

    אָזThenיַעֲנוּansweredהַיְּהוּדִיםthe Jews,וַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֵלָיוunto him,הֲלֹאSay we notהֵטַבְנוּwellאֲשֶׁרthatדִּבַּרְנוּwe saidכִּיthatשֹׁמְרוֹנִיa Samaritan,אַתָּהyou areוְשֵׁדand hast a devil?בָּךְ׃is in you?

    Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

    וַיַּעַןAnswered,יֵשׁוּעַJesusשֵׁדa devil;אֵין־בִּיI have notרַקbutאֶת־אָבִיmy Father,אֲנִיIמְכַבֵּדhonorוְאַתֶּםand youתִּבְזוּנִי׃do dishonor me.

    Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

  50. 50

    אָכֵןAndלֹאI seek notאֶדְרשׁdo I seekאֶת־כְּבוֹדִיmine own glory:יֵשׁthere isאֶחָדoneאֲשֶׁרthatיִדְרשׁseekethוְיִשְׁפֹּט׃and judgeth.

    And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.

  51. 51

    אָמֵןVerily,אָמֵןverily,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,אִם־יִשְׁמֹרIf a man keepאִישׁa manאֶת־דְּבָרִיmy saying,לֹאneverיִרְאֶה־מָּוֶתhe shall see death.לָנֶצַח׃for ever.

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

  52. 52

    וַיֹּאמְרוּThen saidאֵלָיוunto him,הַיְּהוּדִיםthe JewsעַתָּהNowיָדַעְנוּwe knowכִּי־שֵׁדthat you have a devil.בָּךְis in you.הֵןBehold,אַבְרָהָםAbrahamוְהַנְּבִיאִיםand the prophetsמֵתוּis dead,וְאַתָּהand youאָמַרְתָּsayest,אִם־יִשְׁמֹרIf a man keepאִישׁa manאֶת־דְּבָרִיmy saying,לֹאneverיִטְעַם־מָוֶתhe shall taste of death.לָנֶצַח׃for ever.

    Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

  53. 53

    הֲגָדוֹלAre you greaterאַתָּהyouמֵאַבְרָהָםthan Abrahamאָבִינוּour father,אֲשֶׁרwhichמֵתis dead?גַּם־הַנְּבִיאִיםand the prophetsמֵתוּare dead:מַה־תַּעֲשֶׂהwhom make youעַצְמֶךָ׃thyself?

    Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

  54. 54

    וַיַּעַןAnswered,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאִם־אֲנִיIf Iמְכַבֵּדhonorאֶת־נַפְשִׁיmyself,כְּבוֹדִיmy honorמֵאָיִןis nothing:אָבִיit is my Fatherהוּאheהַמְכַבֵּדthat honorethאֹתִיme;אֲשֶׁרof whomתֹּאמְרוּyou say,לוֹunto himהוּאthat he isאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃your God:

    Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

    וְלֹאYet you have notיְדַעְתֶּםknownאֹתוֹhim;וַאֲנִיbut Iיָדַעְתִּיknow him:וְאִם־אָמַרְתִּיand if I should say,אֵינֶנִּיI knowיוֹדֵעַhim not,אֹתוֹhimאֶהְיֶהI shall beמְשַׁקֵּרa liarכְּמוֹכֶםlike unto you:אֲבָלbutיְדַעְתִּיוI know him,וְאֶת־דְּבָרוֹand keep his saying.שָׁמָרְתִּי׃I keep.

    Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

  56. 56

    אַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֲבִיכֶםyour fatherשָׂשׂrejoicedלִרְאוֹתto seeאֶת־יוֹמִיmy day:וַיַּרְאand he saw it,וַיִּשְׂמָח׃and was glad.

    Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

  57. 57

    וַיֹּאמְרוּThen saidאֵלָיוunto him,הַיְּהוּדִיםthe Jewsלֹאnotבֶּן־חֲמִשִּׁיםfiftyשָׁנָהyears old,אָתָּהYou are yetוְאֶת־אַבְרָהָםand have you seen Abraham?רָאִיתָ׃have you seen?

    Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

  58. 58

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאָמֵןVerily,אָמֵןverily,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,בְּטֶרֶםBeforeהֱיוֹתwas,אָבְרָהָםAbrahamאֲנִיIהָיִיתִי׃am.

    Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

  59. 59

    אָזThenיָרִימוּtook they upאֲבָנִיםstonesלִרְגֹּםto castאֹתוֹat him:וְיֵשׁוּעַbut Jesusהִתְעַלָּםhid himself,וַיֵּצֵאand wentמִן־הַמִּקְדָּשׁout of the temple,וַיַּעֲבֹרgoing throughבְּתוֹכָםthe midst of them,עָבוֹרpassingוְחָלוֹף׃and so passed by.

    Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
