   After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

   Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brothersקוּםkumariseוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goמִזֶּהmiz/ZEfrom hereאַרְצָהAR/tsato the land ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAinto Judaeaלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִרְאוּyir/Umay seeגַם־תַּלְמִידֶיךָgam-tal/mi/de/KHAalso your disciplesאֶת־הַמַּעֲשִׂיםet-ham/ma/a/SIMthe worksאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהa/SHER-at/TAthat youעֹשֶׂה׃o/SEdo

   His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judæa, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

   For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.

   For neither did his brethren believe in him.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusעִתִּיit/TImy timeלֹא־בָאָהlo-va/Ahas not comeעַד־עָתָּהad-AT/tauntil nowוְעִתְּכֶםve/it/te/KHEMand your timeתָּמִידta/MIDis alwaysנְכוֹנָה׃ne/kho/NAready

   Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

   לֹא־יוּכַלlo-yu/KHALcannotהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldלִשְׂנוֹאlis/NOto hateאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְאֹתִיve/o/TIand meיִשְׂנָאyis/NAit hatesבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERbecauseאֲנִיa/NIIמֵעִידme/IDtestifyעָלָיוa/LAYVabout itכִּיkithatרָעִיםra/IMare evilמַעֲלָלָיו׃ma/a/la/LAYVits deeds

   The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

   עֲלוּa/LUgo upאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלָחֹגla/CHOGto keepאֶת־הֶחָגet-he/CHAGthe feastהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲנִיa/NIIטֶרֶםTE/remnot yetאֶעֱלֶהe/e/LEwill I go upאֶל־הֶחָגel-he/CHAGto the feastהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkiforעִתִּיit/TImy timeלֹאlonotמָלְאָהma/le/Ahas been fulfilledעַד־עָתָּה׃ad-AT/tauntil now

   Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.

   כָּזֹאתka/ZOTlike thisדִבֵּרdib/BERhe spokeוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he stayedבַּגָּלִיל׃bag/Ga/LILin Galilee

   When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

10. 10

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenעָלוּa/LUhad gone upאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brothersלָרֶגֶלla/RE/gelto the pilgrim feastוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoלֹאlonotבַגָּלוּיvag/ga/LUYopenlyכִּיkibutאִםimonlyכְּמִסְתַּתֵּר׃ke/mis/tat/TERas one hiding

    But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

    וְהַיְּהוּדִיםve/hay/Ye/hu/DIMand the Jewsבִּקְשֻׁהוּbik/SHU/husought himבֶחָגve/CHAGat the feastוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאַיּוֹ׃ay/YOwhere is he

    Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

    וַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand there wasתְּלוּנָהte/lu/NAmurmuringרַבָּהrab/BAgreatעַל־אֹדוֹתָיוal-o/do/TAYVabout himבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֵלֶּהEL/letheseאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidטוֹבtovgoodהוּאhuhe isוְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidלֹאlonoכִּי־מַתְעֶהki-mat/Ebut leads astrayהוּאhuheאֶת־הָעָם׃et-ha/AMthe people

    And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

    אַךְakhbutאֵין־אִישׁen-ishthere was no manמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspokeעָלָיוa/LAYVabout himבָּרַבִּיםba/rab/BIMin publicמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofיִרְאַתyir/ATthe fear ofהַיְּהוּדִים׃hay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jews

    Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

14. 14

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּחֲצִיba/cha/TSIin the middle ofיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofהֶחָגhe/CHAGthe feastוְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/aand Jesusעָלָהa/LAwent upאֶל־הַמִּקְדָּשׁel-ham/mik/DASHinto the templeוַיְלַמֵּד׃vay/lam/MEDand taught

    Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

    וַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand marveledהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidבַּמֶּהbam/MEby whatיָדַעya/DAknowsזֶהzethis oneסֵפֶרSE/ferwritingוְהוּאve/HUand heלֹאlonotלָמָד׃la/MADhas learned

    And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

16. 16

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredאֹתָםo/TAMthemיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidלִקְחִיlik/CHImy doctrineלֹא־לִיlo-liis not mineהוּאhuis itכִּיkibutאִםimonlyלְשֹׁלְחִי׃le/shol/CHIHis that sent me

    Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

17. 17

    הֶחָפֵץhe/cha/FETSwhoever desiresלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTdoרְצוֹנוֹre/tso/NOHis willיֵדַעye/DAwill knowעַל־הַלֶּקַחal-hal/LE/kachof the doctrineאִם־מֵאֵתim-me/ETwhether fromאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodהוּאhuit isאוֹoorמִנַּפְשִׁיmin/naf/SHIof myselfאֲדַבֵּר׃a/dab/BERI speak

    If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

18. 18

    הַמְדַבֵּרham/dab/BERwhoever speaksמִנַּפְשׁוֹmin/naf/SHOof himselfכְּבוֹדke/VODthe glory ofעַצְמוֹats/MOhimselfיְבַקֵּשׁye/vak/KESHseeksוְהַמְבַקֵּשׁve/ham/vak/KESHand whoever seeksכְּבוֹדke/VODthe glory ofשֹׁלְחוֹshol/CHOHim who sent himנֶאֱמָןne/e/MANfaithfulהוּאhuheוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noעַוְלָתָהav/LA/taunrighteousnessבּוֹ׃bois in him

    He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

19. 19

    הֲלֹאha/LOdid notמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesנָתַןna/TANgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawוְאֵין־אִישׁve/EN-ishand there is no manמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoingהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyתְּבַקְשׁוּte/vak/SHUdo you seekלְהָרְגֵנִי׃le/ha/re/GE/nito kill me

    Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

20. 20

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidשֵׁדsheda demonבָּךְbakhis in youמִיmiwhoמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHseeksלְהׇרְגֶךָ׃le/hor/GE/khato kill you

    The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

21. 21

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themמַעֲשֶׂהma/a/SEa workאֶחָדe/CHADoneעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI didוְכֻלְּכֶםve/khul/le/KHEMand you allעָלָיוa/LAYVat itתִּתְמָהוּ׃tit/ma/HUmarvel

    Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.

22. 22

    מֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesנָתַןna/TANgaveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youהַמִּילָהham/mi/LAthe circumcisionאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotמִמֹּשֶׁהmim/Mo/SHEfrom Mosesהִיאhiis itכִּיkibutאִםimonlyמִן־הָאָבוֹתmin-ha/a/VOTfrom the fathersוּבְיוֹםu/ve/YOMand on the day ofהַשַּׁבָּתhash/shab/BATthe sabbathתָּמוּלוּta/mu/LUyou circumciseכׇל־זָכָר׃khol-za/KHARevery male

    Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.

23. 23

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־תִּמּוֹלim-tim/MOLif is circumcisedעׇרְלַתor/LATthe foreskin ofאָדָםa/DAMa manבַּשַּׁבָּתbash/shab/BATon the sabbathלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־תוּפַרlo-tu/FARwill not be brokenתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesמַה־תִּקְצְפוּma-tik/tse/FUwhy are you angryעָלַיa/LAYat meכִּיkibecauseרִפֵּאתִיrip/pe/TII healedהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manכֻּלּוֹkul/LOall of himבַּשַּׁבָּת׃bash/shab/BATon the sabbath

    If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

24. 24

    אַל־תִּשְׁפְּטוּal-tish/pe/TUjudge notלְמַרְאֵהle/mar/Eby the sight ofעָיִןA/yinthe eyeכִּיkibutאִם־מִשְׁפַּט־צֶדֶקim-mish/PAT-TSE/dekonly righteous judgmentשְׁפֹטוּ׃she/FO/tujudge

    Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenמִיֹּשְׁבֵיmiy/yosh/VEof the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemהֲלֹאha/LOis notזֶהzethisהוּאhuheאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomבִּקְשׁוּbik/SHUthey seekלְהׇרְגוֹ׃le/hor/GOto kill him

    Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

26. 26

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuheדֹּבֵרdo/VERspeaksבָּרַבִּיםba/rab/BIMin publicוְלֹאve/LOand notיִגְעֲרוּyig/a/RUdo they rebukeבוֹvoto himהַאַףha/AFcan it beאֻמְנָםum/NAMtrulyיָדְעוּya/de/Uknowרָאשֵׁינוּra/she/NUour rulersכִּי־בֶאֱמֶתki-ve/e/METthat in truthזֶהzethisהוּאhuheהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

27. 27

    אַךְakhbutהֲלֹאha/LOdo we notיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuknowזֶהzethis oneמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereהוּאhuhe isוְהַמָּשִׁיחַve/ham/Ma/SHI/achand the Messiahכִּיkiwhenיָבוֹאya/VOcomesלֹא־יֵדַעlo-ye/DAwill not knowאִישׁisha manאֵי־מִזֶּהe-miz/ZEfrom whereהוּא׃huhe is

    Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

    אָזazthenקָרָאka/RAcalled outיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבַּמִּקְדָּשׁbam/mik/DASHin the templeוַיְלַמֵּדvay/lam/MEDand taughtוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהֵןhenbeholdיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMknowאֹתִיo/TImeאַף־יְדַעְתֶּםaf-ye/da/TEMand you knowמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereאָנִיA/niI amוּמִנַּפְשִׁיu/min/naf/SHIand of myselfלֹא־בָאתִיlo-VA/tiI have not comeאָכֵןa/KHENbutיֵשׁyeshthere isנֶאֱמָןNe/e/MANOne faithfulאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשְׁלָחַנִיshe/la/CHA/nisent meוְאֹתוֹve/o/TOand Himלֹאlonotיְדַעְתֶּם׃ye/da/TEMdo you know

    Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

29. 29

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iיְדַעְתִּיוye/da/TIVknow Himכִּיkiforמֵאִתּוֹme/it/TOfrom HimאָנִיA/niam Iוְהוּאve/HUand Heשְׁלָחָנִי׃she/la/CHA/nihas sent me

    But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

30. 30

    וַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand they soughtלְתָפְשׂוֹle/ta/fe/SOto seize himוְאִישׁve/ISHand a manלֹא־שָׁלַחlo-sha/LACHdid not sendיָדyada handבּוֹboon himכִּיkibecauseלֹא־בָאlo-vahad not comeעִתּוֹ׃it/TOhis time

    Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

31. 31

    וְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמִן־הָעָםmin-ha/AMof the peopleהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nubelievedבוֹvoin himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִם־יָבֹאim-ya/VOwhen comesהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahהֲגַםha/GAMwill he alsoיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEdoאֹתוֹתo/TOTsignsהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmanyמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERmore thanעָשָׂהa/SAdidזֶה׃zethis one

    And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

32. 32

    וְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםve/hap/Pe/ru/SHIMand the Phariseesשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uheardאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleמִתְלַחֲשִׁיםmit/la/cha/SHIMwhisperingעָלָיוa/LAYVabout himכָּזֹאתka/ZOTlike thisוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand sentהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesוְרָאשֵׁיve/ra/SHEand the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsמְשָׁרֲתִיםme/sha/ra/TIMofficersלְתָפְשׂוֹ׃le/ta/fe/SOto seize him

    The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאַךְ־מְעַטakh-me/ATonly a littleעוֹדֶנִּיo/DEN/niI am stillעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youוְהָלַכְתִּיve/ha/lakh/TIand I will goאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERto Him whoשְׁלָחָנִי׃she/la/CHA/nisent me

    Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

34. 34

    תְּשַׁחֲרֻנְנִיte/sha/cha/run/NIyou will seek meוְלֹאve/LOand notתִמְצָאֻנְנִיtim/tsa/un/NIwill you find meוּבַאֲשֶׁרu/va/a/SHERand whereאֲנִיa/NIIשָׁםshamthereאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUwill you be ableלָבוֹא׃la/VOcome

    Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.

35. 35

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsאִישׁisheach manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huto his neighborאָנָהA/nawhereיֵלֵךְye/LEKHwill he goזֶהzethis oneוַאֲנַחְנוּva/a/NACH/nuand weלֹאlonotנִמְצָאֵהוּnim/tsa/e/HUwill find himהֲיֵלֵךְha/ye/LEKHwill he goאֶל־הַנְּפוֹצִיםel-han/ne/fo/TSIMto the dispersedבֵּיןbenamongהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMthe Gentilesוִילַמֵּדvi/lam/MEDand teachאֶת־הַגּוֹיִם׃et-Hag/go/YIMthe Gentiles

    Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

36. 36

    מָהmawhatהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARis the wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEis thisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָמַרa/MARhe saidתְּשַׁחֲרֻנְנִיte/sha/cha/run/NIyou will seek meוְלֹאve/LOand notתִמְצָאֻנְנִיtim/tsa/un/NIwill you find meוּבַאֲשֶׁרu/va/a/SHERand whereאֲנִיa/NIIשָׁםshamthereאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUwill you be ableלָבוֹא׃la/VOcome

    What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

37. 37

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatבֶּחָגbe/CHAGof the feastוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand called outלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִישׁisha manכִּיkiifיִצְמָאyits/MAthirstsיָבֹא־נָאya/VO-nalet him come nowאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְיִשְׁתֶּה׃ve/yish/TEand drink

    In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38. 38

    הַמַּאֲמִיןham/ma/a/MINwhoever believesבִּיbiin meכִּדְבַרkid/VARas the word ofהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthe scriptureמִבִּטְנוֹmib/bit/NOfrom his bellyיִנְהֲרוּyin/ha/RUwill flowנַהֲרֵיna/ha/RErivers ofמַיִםMA/yimwaterחַיִּים׃chay/YIMliving

    He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

    (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

    וְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמֵהֲמוֹןme/ha/MONof the crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleכְּשׇׁמְעָםke/shom/AMwhen they heardאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidאָכֵןa/KHENtrulyזֶהzethisהוּאhuisהַנָּבִיא׃han/na/VIthe prophet

    Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

    וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there areאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidזֶהzethisהוּאhuisהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahוַאֲחֵרִיםva/a/che/RIMand othersאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidהֲמִן־הַגָּלִילha/MIN-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeיָבֹאya/VOwill comeהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

    הֲלֹאha/LOdoes notהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthe scriptureאֹמֵרo/MERsayכִּיkithatמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raof the seed ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוּמִכְּפַרu/mik/ke/FARand from the village ofבֵּית־לֶחֶםBet-LE/chemBethlehemמְקוֹםme/KOMthe place ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidיֵצֵאye/TSEwill come outהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

43. 43

    וַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand there wasמַחֲלֹקֶתma/cha/LO/keta divisionבֵּיןbenamongהָעָםha/AMthe peopleעַל־אֹדוֹתָיו׃al-o/do/TAYVbecause of him

    So there was a division among the people because of him.

44. 44

    וּמִקְצָתָםu/mik/tsa/TAMand some of themרָצוּRA/tsuwantedלְתָפְשׂוֹle/ta/fe/SOto seize himוְאִישׁve/ISHand a manלֹא־שָׁלַחlo-sha/LACHdid not sendיָדyada handבּוֹ׃boon him

    And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

45. 45

    וַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand returnedהַמְשָׁרֲתִיםham/sha/ra/TIMthe officersאֶל־רָאשֵׁיel-ra/SHEto the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםve/hap/Pe/ru/SHIMand the Phariseesוְהֵםve/HEMand theyאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyלֹא־הֲבֵאתֶםlo-ha/ve/TEMhave you not broughtאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

46. 46

    וַיַּעֲנוּvay/ya/a/NUand answeredהַמְשָׁרֲתִיםham/sha/ra/TIMthe officersמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverלֹא־דִבֶּרlo-dib/BERhas not spokenאִישׁisha manכָּאִישׁka/ISHlike the manהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

47. 47

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesהֲכִיha/KHIhaveנִדַּחְתֶּםnid/dach/TEMyou been led astrayגַּם־אַתֶּם׃gam-at/TEMyou also

    Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

48. 48

    הֲגַם־הֶאֱמִיןha/GAM-he/e/MINhas believedבּוֹboon himאִישׁisha manמִן־הַשָּׂרִיםmin-has/sa/RIMof the rulersאוֹoorמִן־הַפְּרוּשִׁים׃min-Hap/pe/ru/SHIMof the Pharisees

    Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?

49. 49

    רַקrakonlyהֶהָמוֹןhe/ha/MONthe crowdהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵינָםe/NAMdo notיֹדְעִיםyod/IMknowאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawאֲרוּרִיםa/ru/RIMare cursedהֵמָּה׃HEM/maare they

    But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

50. 50

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themנַקְדִּימוֹןNak/di/MONNicodemusאֲשֶׁר־בָּאa/SHER-bawho cameאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laby nightוְהוּאve/HUand heהָיָהha/YAwasאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

    Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

    הֲכִיha/KHIdoesתִשְׁפֹּטtish/POTjudgeתּוֹרָתֵנוּto/ra/te/NUour lawאִישׁisha manבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeתַּחְקְרֵהוּtach/ke/re/HUit examines himלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatעָשָׂה׃a/SAhe did

    Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

52. 52

    וַיַּעֲנוּvay/ya/a/NUand they answeredוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהֲגַם־אַתָּהha/GAM-at/TAare you alsoמִן־הַגָּלִילmin-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeדְּרׇשׁ־נָאde/ROSH-nasearch nowוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand lookכִּיkithatלֹא־קָםlo-kamdoes not ariseנָבִיאna/VIprophetמִן־הַגָּלִיל׃min-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galilee

    They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאִישׁisheachאִישׁishmanלְבֵיתוֹ׃le/ve/TOto his house

    And every man went unto his own house.
