1. 1

   וַיְהִיWhen thereforeכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenנוֹדַעknewלָאָדוֹןthe Lordכִּיhowשָׁמְעוּhad heardהַפְּרוּשִׁיםthe PhariseesאֲשֶׁרthatיֵשׁוּעַJesusהֶעֱמִידmadeוְגַםandהִטְבִּילbaptizedתַּלְמִידִיםdisciplesהַרְבֵּהmoreמיּוֹחָנָן׃than John,

   When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

   וְאוּלָם(ThoughיֵשׁוּעַJesusהוּאhimselfלֹאnotהִטְבִּילbaptizedכִּיbutאִםratherתַּלְמִידָיו׃his disciples,)

   (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

   וַיֵּצֵאHe leftמֵאֶרֶץthe land ofיְהוּדָהJudaea,וַיֵּלֶךְand departedשֵׁנִיתagainהַגָּלִילָה׃into Galilee.

   He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.

4. 4

   וַיְהִיAnd he must needsלַעֲבֹרgoדֶּרֶךְthroughאֶרֶץthe land ofשֹׁמְרוֹן׃Samaria.

   And he must needs go through Samaria.

5. 5

   וַיָּבֹאThen cometh heלְעִירto a cityמֵעָרֵיof the cities ofשֹׁמְרוֹןSamaria,וּשְׁמָהּwhich is calledסוּכַרSychar,מִמּוּלnear toחֶלְקַתthe parcel ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe groundאֲשֶׁר־נָתַןthat gaveיַעֲקֹבJacobלְיוֹסֵףto Josephבְּנוֹ׃his son.

   Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

   וְשָׁםNow was thereבְּאֵרwell.יַעֲקֹבJacob'sוְיֵשׁוּעַJesus therefore,הָיָהbeingעָיֵףweariedמִן־הַדֶּרֶךְwith his journey,וַיֵּשֶׁב־לוֹsat thusעַל־הַבְּאֵרon the well:וְהָעֵתand it wasכַּשָּׁעָהabout hour.הַשִּׁשִּׁית׃the sixth

   Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

   וַתָּבֹאThere comethאִשָּׁהa womanשֹׁמְרוֹנִיתof Samariaלִשְׁאָב־מָיִםto draw water:וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלֶיהָunto her,יֵשׁוּעַJesusתְּנִי־נָאGiveלִיmeלִשְׁתּוֹת׃to drink.

   There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8. 8

   כִּי(Forתַלְמִידָיוhis disciplesהָלְכוּwere gone awayהָעִירָהunto the cityלִקְנוֹתto buyאֹכֶל׃meat.)

   (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

9. 9

   וַתֹּאמֶרThen saithאֵלָיוunto him,הָאִשָּׁהthe womanהַשֹּׁמְרוֹנִיתof SamariaהֵןHowיְהוּדִיthat you, being a Jew,אַתָּהyouוְאֵיכָכָהhowתִּשְׁאַלaskestמִמֶּנִּיof me,לִשְׁתּוֹתdrinkוְאָנֹכִיwhich amאִשָּׁהa woman ofשֹׁמְרוֹנִיתSamaria?כִּי־לֹאfor noיִתְעָרְבוּdealings haveהַיְּהוּדִיםthe Jewsעִם־הַשֹּׁמְרוֹנִים׃with the Samaritans.

   Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

    וַיַּעַןAnsweredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלֶיהָunto her,לוּIfיָדַעַתְּyou knewאֶת־מַתַּתthe gift ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וּמִיand who it isזֶהthisהָאֹמֵרthat saithאֵלַיִךְto you,תְּנִי־נָאGive meלִיunto meלִשְׁתּוֹתto drink;כִּיbutעַתָּהnowשָׁאַלְתְּyou would have askedמִמֶּנּוּof him,וְנָתַןand he would have givenלָךְyouמַיִםwater.חַיִּים׃living

    Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

    וַתֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלָיוunto him,הָאִשָּׁהThe womanאֲדֹנִיSir,כְּלִיnothingאֵין־לְךָyou haveלִשְׁאָב־בּוֹto draw with,וְהַבְּאֵרand the wellעֲמֻקָּהis deep:וּמֵאַיִןfrom whenceלְךָthen have youמַיִםwater?חַיִּים׃that living

    The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12. 12

    הֲגָדוֹלAre you greaterאַתָּהyouמִיַּעֲקֹבthan Jacobאָבִינוּour father,אֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַן־לָנוּgave usאֶת־הַבְּאֵרthe well,הַזֹּאתthisוַיֵּשְׁתְּand drankמִמֶּנָּהthereofהוּאhimself,וּבָנָיוand his children,וּבְעִירוֹ׃and his cattle?

    Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13. 13

    וַיַּעַןAnsweredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלֶיהָunto her,כׇּל־הַשֹּׁתֶהWhosoever drinkethמִן־הַמַּיִםof waterהָאֵלֶּהthisיָשׁוּבshall againוְיִצְמָא׃thirst:

    Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14. 14

    וַאֲשֶׁרBut whosoeverיִשְׁתֶּהdrinkethמִן־הַמַּיִםof the waterאֲשֶׁרthatאָנֹכִיIנֹתֵןshall giveלוֹhimלֹאnotיִצְמָאshall thirst;לְעוֹלָםeverכִּיbutהַמַּיִםthe waterאֲשֶׁרthatאֶתֶּן־לוֹI shall give himיִהְיוּshall beבְקִרְבּוֹin himלִמְקוֹרa well ofמַיִםwaterנֹבְעִיםspringing upלְחַיֵּיinto lifeהָעוֹלָם׃everlasting.

    But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15. 15

    וַתֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלָיוunto him,הָאִשָּׁהThe womanאֲדֹנִיSir,תְּנָה־לִּיgive meהַמַּיִםwater,הָהֵםthisלְמַעַןthatאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־אֶצְמָאI thirst not,עוֹדyetוְלֹאneitherאוֹסִיףcomeלָבוֹאcomeהֵנָּהhitherלִשְׁאֹב׃to draw.

    The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלֶיהָunto her,יֵשׁוּעַJesusלְכִיGo,וְקִרְאִיcallלְאִישֵׁךְyour husband,וְשׁוּבִיand comeהֲלוֹם׃hither.

    Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

17. 17

    וַתַּעַןAnsweredהָאִשָּׁהThe womanוַתֹּאמֶרand said,אֵיןI have noלִיunto meאִישׁhusband.וַיֹּאמֶרsaidאֵלֶיהָunto her,יֵשׁוּעַJesusכֵּןwellדִבַּרְתְּYou have said,אֵיןI have noלִיunto meאִישׁ׃husband:

    The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

18. 18

    כִּיForבְּעָלִיםhusbands;חֲמִשָּׁהfiveהָיוּyou have hadלָךְunto youוַאֲשֶׁרand he whomעַתָּהnowלָךְyou haveאֵינֶנּוּis notבַּעְלֵךְyour husband:לָכֵןin thatאֱמֶתtrulyהַדָּבָרis the wordאֲשֶׁרwhichדִבַּרְתְּ׃saidst you.

    For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

19. 19

    וַתֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלָיוunto him,הָאִשָּׁהThe womanאֲדֹנִיSir,רֹאָהI perceiveאָנֹכִיIכִּיthatנָבִיאa prophet.אָתָּה׃you are

    The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

20. 20

    אֲבוֹתֵינוּOur fathersהִשְׁתַּחֲווּworshipedבָּהָרin mountain;הַזֶּהthisוְאַתֶּםand youאֹמְרִיםsay,יְרוּשָׁלַיִםthat in Jerusalemהִיאisהַמָּקוֹםthe placeהַנִּבְחָרwas chosenלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹתwhere men ought to worship.שָׁמָּה׃thither

    Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלֶיהָunto her,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאִשָּׁהWoman,הַאֲמִינִיbelieveלִיme,כִּיforתָבוֹאcometh,שָׁעָהthe hourאֲשֶׁרwhenלֹאneitherתִשְׁתַּחֲווּyou shall worshipלָאָבthe Fatherבָּהָרin mountain,הַזֶּהthisוְלֹאnor yetבִירוּשָׁלָיִם׃at Jerusalem.

    Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22. 22

    אַתֶּםYouמִשְׁתַּחֲוִיםworshipאֶל־אֲשֶׁרyou knowלֹאnotיְדַעְתֶּםwhat:וַאֲנַחְנוּweמִשְׁתַּחֲוִיםworshipאֶל־אֲשֶׁרwhatיָדָעְנוּwe know:כִּיforהַיְשׁוּעָהsalvationמִן־הַיְּהוּדִיםis of the Jews.הִיא׃she

    Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

23. 23

    אוּלָםButתָּבוֹאcometh,שָׁעָהthe hourוְעַתָּהand nowהִיאis,אֲשֶׁרwhenעֹבְדֵיthe worshippers ofאֵלGodהָאֲמִתִּיםtrueיִשְׁתַּחֲווּshall worshipלָאָבthe Fatherבְּרוּחַin spiritוּבֶאֱמֶתand in truth:כִּיforבְּמִשְׁתַּחֲוִיםworshippersכָּאֵלֶּהsuchחָפֵץseekethהָאָב׃the Father

    But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24. 24

    הָאֱלֹהִיםGodרוּחַis a Spirit:הוּאheוְהַמִּשְׁתַּחֲוִיםand they that worshipלוֹhimצְרִיכִיםmustלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹתworshipבְּרוּחַin spiritוּבֶאֱמֶת׃and in truth.

    God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

25. 25

    וַתֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלָיוunto him,הָאִשָּׁהThe womanיָדַעְתִּיI knowכִּי־יָבֹאthat comethהַמָּשִׁיחַMessias,אֲשֶׁרwhichיִקָּרֵאis calledלוֹunto himכְּרִיסְטוֹסChrist:הוּאwhen heיָבוֹאis come,וְיַגִּידhe will tellלָנוּusאֶת־כֹּל׃all things.

    The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלֶיהָunto her,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲנִיIהַמְדַבֵּרthat speakאֵלָיִךְunto youאֲנִיIהוּא׃am he.

    Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

27. 27

    עוֹדAnd upon thisהוּאheמְדַבֵּרtalkedכָּזֹאתthusוְתַלְמִידָיוhis disciplesבָּאוּcame,וַיִּתְמְהוּand marvelledעַל־דַּבְּרוֹthat he talkedעִם־אִשָּׁהwith the woman:וְאִישׁyet no manלֹאnotאָמַר־לוֹsaid,מַה־תִּשְׁאַלWhat seek you?אוֹor,מַה־תְּדַבֵּרWhy talkest youעִמָּהּ׃with her?

    And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

28. 28

    וְהָאִשָּׁהThe woman thenעׇזְבָהleftאֶת־כַּדָּהּher waterpot,וַתֵּלֶךְand went her wayהָעִירָהinto the city,וַתֹּאמֶרand saithאֶל־הָאֲנָשִׁים׃to the men,

    The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

29. 29

    בֹּאוּCome,וּרְאוּseeאִישׁa man,אֲשֶׁרwhichהִגִּידtoldלִיmeכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall things thatעָשִׂיתִיever I did:אוּלַיis notזֶהthisהוּאheהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the Christ?

    Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

30. 30

    וַיֵּצְאוּThen they wentמִן־הָעִירout of the city,וַיָּבֹאוּand cameאֵלָיו׃unto him.

    Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

31. 31

    הֵמָּהTheyטֶרֶםereיָבֹאוּthey came, in the mean while,וְתַלְמִידָיוhis disciplesבִּקְשׁוּprayedמִמֶּנּוּhim,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֱכׇל־נָאeatאֲדֹנִי׃Master,

    In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרBut he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֶשׁ־לִיI haveאֹכֶלmeatלֶאֱכֹלto eatאֲשֶׁרthatאַתֶּםyouלֹאnotיְדַעְתֶּם׃know of.

    But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמְרוּTherefore saidהַתַּלְמִידִיםthe disciplesאִישׁoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּto another,הֲכִיHathהֵבִיאbroughtלוֹhimאִישׁany manלֶאֱכֹל׃ought to eat?

    Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusמַאֲכָלִיMy meat isעֲשׂוֹתto doרְצוֹןthe will ofשֹׁלְחִיhim that sent me,וּלְהַשְׁלִיםand to finishמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃his work.

    Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

35. 35

    הֲלֹאnotאַתֶּםSay youתֹּאמְרוּsay,עוֹדyetאַרְבָּעָהfourחֳדָשִׁיםmonths,וְהַקָּצִירand then harvestבָּאcometh?הִנֵּהbehold,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,שְׂאוּLift upעֵינֵיכֶםyour eyes,וּרְאוּand look onבַשָּׂדוֹתthe fields;כִּי־כְבָרforהִלְבִּינוּthey are white alreadyלַקָּצִיר׃to harvest.

    Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36. 36

    וְהַקּוֹצֵרAnd he that reapethיִקַּחreceivethשְׂכָרוֹwages,וְיֶאֱסֹףand gatherethתְּבוּאָהfruitלְחַיֵּיunto lifeעוֹלָםeternal:לְמַעַןthatיִשְׂמְחוּmight rejoiceיַחְדָּוtogether.גַּםbothהַזֹּרֵעַhe that sowethגַּםandהַקּוֹצֵר׃he that reapeth

    And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37. 37

    כִּיAndבָזֹאתhereinיֵאָמֵןis trueהַמָּשָׁלthat saying,כִּיthatזֶהOneזֹרֵעַsoweth,וְאַחֵרand anotherיִקְצֹר׃reapeth.

    And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

38. 38

    אָנֹכִיIשָׁלַחְתִּיsentאֶתְכֶםyouלִקְצֹרto reapאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthat whereonלֹאnoעֲמַלְתֶּםyou bestowedבּוֹlabor:וַאֲחֵרִיםother menעָמְלוּlabored,וְאַתֶּםand youנִכְנַסְתֶּםare enteredבַּעֲמָלָם׃into their labors.

    I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

39. 39

    וְשֹׁמְרֹנִיםAnd of the Samaritansרַבִּיםmanyמִן־הָעִירof cityהַהִיאthatהֶאֱמִינוּbelievedבוֹon himעַל־דְּבַרfor the saying ofהָאִשָּׁהthe woman,אֲשֶׁרwhichהֵעִידָהtestified,לֵאמֹרsaying,הוּאHeהִגִּידtoldלִיmeאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatעָשִׂיתִי׃ever I did.

    And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

40. 40

    וַיְהִיSo whenכַּאֲשֶׁרasבָּאוּwere comeאֵלָיוunto him,הַשֹּׁמְרֹנִיםthe Samaritansוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּthey besoughtמִמֶּנּוּhimלָשֶׁבֶתthat he would tarryאִתָּםwith them:וַיֵּשֶׁבand he abodeשָׁםthereיוֹמָיִם׃two days.

    So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

41. 41

    וְעוֹדAndרַבִּיםmany moreמֵהֵמָּהmore than theyהֶאֱמִינוּbelievedבוֹon himבַּעֲבוּרbecause ofדְּבָרוֹ׃his own word;

    And many more believed because of his own word;

42. 42

    וַיֹּאמְרוּAnd saidאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהunto the woman,מֵעַתָּהNowלֹא־בִגְלַלnot because ofמַאֲמָרֵךְyour saying:נַאֲמִיןwe believe,כִּיforבְאׇזְנֵינוּourselvesשָׁמַעְנוּwe have heard himוַנֵּדַעand knowכִּי־אׇמְנָםthat this is indeedזֶהthisהוּאisהַמָּשִׁיחַthe Christ,מוֹשִׁיעַthe Saviour ofהָעוֹלָם׃the world.

    And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

43. 43

    וַיְהִיNowמִקֵּץafterשְׁנֵיtwoהַיָּמִיםdaysוַיֵּצֵאhe departedמִשָּׁםthence,לָלֶכֶתand wentהַגָּלִילָה׃into Galilee.

    Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

44. 44

    כִּיForהוּאheיֵשׁוּעַJesusעַצְמוֹhimselfהֵעִידtestified,אֲשֶׁרthatאֵיןhath noכָּבוֹדhonorלַנָּבִיאa prophetבְּאֶרֶץinמוֹלַדְתּוֹ׃his own country.

    For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

45. 45

    וַיְהִיThenהוּאwhenבָאhe was comeאֶרֶץintoהַגָּלִילGalilee,וַיַּאַסְפֻהוּreceived him,אַנְשֵׁיthe men ofהַגָּלִילGalilee,כִּיforרָאוּhaving seenאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall the things thatעָשָׂהhe didבִירוּשָׁלַיִםat Jerusalemבִּימֵיin the days ofהֶחָגthe feast:כִּיforגַם־הֵמָּהthey alsoעָלוּwentלָחֹגto keepאֶת־הֶחָג׃the feast.

    Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

46. 46

    וַיָּבֹאSo cameיֵשׁוּעַJesusעוֹדagainהַפַּעַםthis timeאֶל־קָנָהinto Canaאֲשֶׁרwhichבַּגָּלִילof Galilee,אֶל־מְקוֹםwhereאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׂםhe madeהַמַּיִםthe waterלְיָיִןwine.וַיְהִיAnd there wasאִישׁa certainמֵעַבְדֵיof the servants ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe king,וּבְנוֹwhose sonחֹלֶהwas sickבִּכְפַר־נַחוּם׃at Capernaum.

    So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

47. 47

    וַיְהִיWhenכְשׇׁמְעוֹhe heardכִּי־בָאthat was comeיֵשׁוּעַJesusמִיהוּדָהout of JudaeaלְאֶרֶץintoהַגָּלִילGalilee,וַיֵּלֶךְhe wentאֵלָיוunto him,וַיִּשְׁאַלand besoughtמֵאִתּוֹhimלָרֶדֶתthat he would come down,וּלְרַפֵּאand healאֶת־בְּנוֹhis son:כִּיforנָטָהhe was at the pointלָמוּת׃of death.

    When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

48. 48

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen saidאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאִם־לֹאExceptתִרְאוּyou seeאֹתוֹתsignsוּמוֹפְתִיםand wonders,לֹאnotתַאֲמִינוּ׃you will believe.

    Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

49. 49

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלַיוunto him,הָאִישׁthe noblemanאֲשֶׁרwhichמֵעַבְדֵיof the servants ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe king,אֲדֹנִיSir,רְדָה־נָּאcome downבְּטֶרֶםereיָמוּתdie.בְּנִי׃my child

    The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

50. 50

    וַיֹּאמֶרSaithאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusלֵךְGo your way;בִּנְךָyour sonחָיliveth.וְהָאִישׁAnd the manהֶאֱמִיןbelievedלַדָּבָרthe wordאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרthat had spokenאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֵּלַךְ׃and he went his way.

    Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

    וַיְהִיAndבְרִדְתּוֹas he was now going down,וַיִּפְגְּעוּ־בוֹmet him,עֲבָדָיוhis servantsוַיְבַשְּׂרוּand told him,אֹתוֹhimכִּי־חַיsaying, livethבְּנוֹ׃Your son.

    And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

52. 52

    וַיִּדְרשׁThen enquired heמֵאִתָּםof themאֶת־הַשָּׁעָהthe hourאֲשֶׁרwhenרָוַחhe began to amend.לוֹunto himוַיֹּאמְרוּAnd they saidאֵלָיוunto him,תְּמוֹלYesterdayבַּשָּׁעָהat hourהַשְּׁבִיעִיתthe seventhרָפְתָהleftמִמֶּנּוּhimהַקַּדָּחַת׃the fever

    Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

53. 53

    וַיֵּדַעSo knewאָבִיהוּthe fatherכִּיthatהָיְתָהit was atהַשָּׁעָהat the same hour,אֲשֶׁרin the whichאָמַר־לוֹsaid unto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusבִּנְךָYour sonחָיliveth:וַיַּאֲמֵןand believed,הוּאhimselfוְכׇל־בֵּיתוֹ׃and his whole house.

    So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

54. 54

    זֶהThis is againהָאוֹתmiracleהַשֵּׁנִיthe secondאֲשֶׁרthatעָשָׂהdid,יֵשׁוּעַJesusבְּבֹאוֹwhen he was comeמִיהוּדָהout of Judaeaלְאֶרֶץintoהַגָּלִיל׃Galilee.

    This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.
