1. 1

   וַיְהִיAnd it came to passאַחֲרֵי־כֵןAfter these thingsוַיֹּסֶףagainיֵשׁוּעַJesusלְהֵרָאוֹתshewed himselfאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוto the disciplesעַל־יָםat the sea ofטִיבַרְיָהTiberias;וְזֶה־דְּבַרand on this wiseהֵרָאוֹתוֹshewed he himself.אֲלֵיהֶם׃unto them

   After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.

   שִׁמְעוֹןSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPeter,וְתוֹמָאand ThomasהַנִּקְרָאcalledדִידוּמוֹסDidymus,וּנְתַנְאֵלand Nathanaelמִקָּנָהof CanaאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּאֶרֶץinהַגָּלִילGalilee,וּבְנֵיand the sons ofזַבְדַּיZebedee,וְעוֹדandשְׁנַיִםtwoאֲחֵרִיםotherמִתַּלְמִידָיוof his disciplesיָשְׁבוּwereיַחְדָּו׃together.

   There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

   וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,שִׁמְעוֹןSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPeterהִנְנִיIהֹלֵךְgoלָדוּגa fishing.וַיֹּאמְרוּThey sayאֵלָיוunto him,גַּם־אֲנַחְנוּWe alsoנֵלֵךְgoעִמָּךְwith you.וַיֵּצְאוּThey went forth,וַיֵּרְדוּand enteredבׇאֳנִיָּהinto a shipוְלֹאand notלָכְדוּthey caughtמְאוּמָהnothing.בַּלַּיְלָהnightהַהוּא׃that

   Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

   הַבֹּקֶרthe morningאוֹרBut when was now come,וְיֵשׁוּעַJesusעָמַדstoodעַל־שְׂפַתon the shoreהַיָּםof the sea:וְהַתַּלְמִידִיםbut the disciplesלֹאnotיָדְעוּknewכִּיthatיֵשׁוּעַJesus.הוּא׃it was

   But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

   וַיֹּאמֶרThen saithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusבָּנַיChildren,הֲיֵשׁ־לָכֶםhave youדָּבָרanyלֶאֱכֹלmeat?וַיֹּאמְרוּThey answered him,לֹא׃No.

   Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

6. 6

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidלָהֶםunto them,הַשְׁלִיכוּCastהַמִּכְמֹרֶתthe netמִימִיןon the right sideלׇאֳנִיָּהof the ship,וְתִמְצָאוּand you shall find.וַיַּשְׁלִיכוּThey cast therefore,וְלֹא־יָכְלוּand not were they ableעוֹדnowלִמְשֹׁךְto drawאֹתָהּitמֵרֹבfor the multitude ofהַדָּגִים׃fishes.

   And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

   וַיֹּאמֶרsaithהַתַּלְמִידthat discipleהַהוּאthatאֲשֶׁרwhomיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲהֵבוֹlovedאֶל־פֶּטְרוֹסunto Peter,הִנֵּה־הָאָדוֹןIt is the Lord.וַיְהִיNowכִּשְׁמֹעַwhen heardשִׁמְעוֹןSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPeterכִּיthatהוּאit wasהָאָדוֹןthe Lord,וַיַּחְגֹּרhe girtאֶת־מְעִילוֹhis fisher's coatכִּי(forעֵירוֹםnaked,)הָיָהhe wasוַיִּתְנַפֵּלand did cast himselfאֶל־הַיָּם׃into the sea.

   Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

8. 8

   וְהַתַּלְמִידִיםAnd the disciplesהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםotherבָּאוּcameבַסְּפִינָהin a little ship;כִּי(forלֹאnotהִרְחִיקוּthey were farמִן־הַיַּבָּשָׁהfrom land,כִּיbutאִםifכְּמָאתַיִםas it were two hundredאַמָּהcubits,)וַיִּמְשְׁכוּdraggingאֶת־הַמִּכְמֹרֶתthe netעִם־הַדָּגִים׃with fishes.

   And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

9. 9

   וַיְהִיAs soon then asבַּעֲלוֹתָםthey were comeאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁהto land,וַיִּרְאוּthey sawוְהִנֵּהbehold,גַּחֲלֵי־אֵשׁa fire of coalsעֲרוּכִיםthere,וְדָגִיםand fishעֲלֵיהֶםlaid thereon,וְלֶחֶםand bread.לֶאֱכֹל׃to eat.

   As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusהָבִיאוּBringמִן־הַדָּגִיםof the fishאֲשֶׁרwhichלְכַדְתֶּםyou have caught.עָתָּה׃now

    Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

11. 11

    וַיַּעַלwent up,שִׁמְעוֹןSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוַיִּמְשֹׁךְand drewאֶת־הַמִּכְמֹרֶתthe netאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁהto landוְהִיאand itמְלֵאָהfull ofדָּגִיםfishes,גְּדוֹלִיםgreatמֵאָהan hundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםand fiftyוּשְׁלשָׁהand three:וְלֹאand notנִקְרְעָהwas broken.הַמִּכְמֹרֶתthe netאַף־כִּיyetרַבִּיםso many,הָיוּ׃there were

    Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusבֹּאוּComeבְרוּ־לָחֶםand dine.וְאֵיןAnd noneאִישׁa manמִן־הַתַּלְמִידִיםof the disciplesאֲשֶׁרwhichמְלָאוֹdurstלִבּוֹhis heartלִשְׁאֹלask him,מִיWhoאָתָּהare you?כִּיforיָדְעוּknowingאֲשֶׁרthatהוּאit wasהָאָדוֹן׃the Lord.

    Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

13. 13

    וַיָּבֹאthen cometh,יֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיִּקַּחand takethאֶת־הַלֶּחֶםbread,וַיִּתֵּןand givethלָהֶםthem,וְאֶת־הַדָּגִים׃and fish likewise.

    Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.

14. 14

    וְזֹאתThis isהַפַּעַםnow the timeהַשְּׁלִישִׁיתthirdאֲשֶׁר־נִרְאָהthat shewed himselfיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוto his disciples,אַחֲרֵיafter thatקוּמוֹhe was risenמֵעִםfromהַמֵּתִים׃the dead.

    This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

15. 15

    וַיְהִיSo whenאַחֲרֵיafterאׇכְלָםthey had dined,וַיֹּאמֶרsaithיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶל־שִׁמְעוֹןto SimonפֶּטְרוֹסPeter,שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,בֶּן־יוֹנָהson of Jonas,הֲתֶאֱהַבlove youאֹתִיmeיוֹתֵרmoreמֵאֵלֶּהthan these?וַיֹּאמֶרHe saithאֵלָיוunto him,כֵּןYea,אֲדֹנִיLord;אַתָּהyouיָדַעְתָּknowestכִּיthatאֲהַבְתִּיךָI love you.וַיֹּאמֶרHe saithאֵלָיוunto him,רְעֵהFeedאֶת־טְלָאָי׃my lambs.

    So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרHe saithאֵלָיוto himעוֹדagainהַפַּעַםthe second time,שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,בֶּן־יוֹנָהson of Jonas,הֲתֶאֱהַבlove youאֹתִיme?וַיֹּאמֶרHe saithאֵלָיוunto him,כֵּןYea,אֲדֹנִיLord;אַתָּהyouיָדַעְתָּknowestכִּיthatאֲהַבְתִּיךָI love you.וַיֹּאמֶרHe saithאֵלָיוunto him,נְהַגFeedאֶת־צֹאנִי׃my sheep.

    He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרHe saithאֵלָיוunto himפַּעַםtime,שְׁלִישִׁיתthe thirdשִׁמְעוֹןSimon,בֶּן־יוֹנָהson of Jonas,הֲתֶאֱהַבlove youאֹתִיme?וַיִּתְעַצֵּבwas grievedפֶּטְרוֹסPeterכִּי־אָמַרbecause he saidאֵלָיוunto himבַּשְּׁלִישִׁיתthe third time,הֲתֶאֱהַבLove youאֹתִיme?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֵלָיוunto him,אֲדֹנִיLord,אֶת־כֹּלall things;אַתָּהyouיוֹדֵעַknowestוְיָדַעְתָּyou knowכִּיthatאֲהַבְתִּיךָI love you.וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusרְעֵהFeedאֶת־צֹאנִי׃my sheep.

    He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

18. 18

    אָמֵןVerily,אָמֵןverily,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָךְunto you,בִּהְיֹתְךָWhen you wereצָעִירyoung,לְיָמִיםin days,אַתָּהyouחָגַרְתָּgirdedstעַצְמְךָthyself,וַתֵּלֶךְand walkedstאֶל־אֲשֶׁרwhitherחָפָצְתָּyou would:וְכַאֲשֶׁרbut whenתִּזְקַןyou shall be old,וּפָרַשְׂתָּyou shall stretch forthכַפֶּיךָyour hands,וְאַחֵרand anotherיַחֲגָרְךָshall gird you,וּנְשָׂאֲךָand carry youאֶל־אֲשֶׁרwhitherלֹאnot.תֶחְפָּץ׃you would

    Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

19. 19

    וְכׇל־זֹאתThisדִּבֶּרspake he,לִרְמֹזsignifyingעַל־מִיתָתוֹby what deathאֲשֶׁרwhichיְכַבֶּד־בָּהּhe should glorifyאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod.וַיְהִיAndכְּכַלּוֹתוֹwhen he had spokenלְדַבֵּרthis,וַיֹּאמֶרhe saithאֵלָיוunto him,לֵךְFollowאַחֲרָי׃me.

    This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

20. 20

    וַיִּפֶןThen turning about,פֶּטְרוֹסPeter,וַיַּרְאseethאֶת־הַתַּלְמִידthe discipleאֲשֶׁרwhomיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲהֵבוֹlovedהֹלֵךְfollowing;אַחֲרֵיהֶםafter them;וְהוּאwhichאֲשֶׁרalsoנָפַלleanedעַל־לִבּוֹon his breastבַּסְּעוּדָהat supper,וְגַם־אָמַרand said,אֲדֹנִיLord,מִיwhichהוּא־זֶהis heאֲשֶׁרthatיִמְסְרֶךָ׃betrayeth you?

    Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?

21. 21

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passבִּרְאוֹתseeingאֹתוֹhimפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַto Jesus,אֲדֹנִיLord,וְזֶהand this manמַה־לּוֹ׃what shall do?

    Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאִם־רְצוֹנִיIf I willשֶׁיִּשָּׁאֵרthat he tarryעַד־בֹּאִיtill I come,מַה־לְּךָwhat is that to you?וְלָזֹאתas for this,אַתָּהyouלֵךְfollowאַחֲרָי׃me.

    Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

23. 23

    עַל־כֵּןThenיָצָאwent abroadהַדָּבָרsayingהַזֶּהthisבֵּיןamongהָאַחִיםthe brethren,שֶׁהַתַּלְמִידthat that discipleהַהוּאthatלֹאnotיָמוּתshould die:וְיֵשׁוּעַyet Jesusלֹאnotאָמַר־לוֹsaid unto him,כִּיthatלֹא־יָמוּתHe shall not die;אֲבָלbut,אָמַרsaidאִם־חֶפְצִיIf I willכִּי־יִשָּׁאֵרthat he tarryעַד־בֹּאִיtill I come,מַה־זֶּהwhat is thatלָךְ׃to you?

    Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

24. 24

    זֶהThisהוּאisהַתַּלְמִידthe discipleהַמֵּעִידwhich testifiethעַל־אֵלֶּהof these things,וַאֲשֶׁרandכָּתַבwroteכׇּל־זֹאתthese things:וְיָדַעְנוּand we knowכִּיthatעֵדוּתוֹhis testimonyאֱמֶת׃is true.

    This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

25. 25

    וְיֵשׁAnd there areעוֹדalsoמַעֲשִׂיםthingsרַבִּיםmanyאֲחֵרִיםotherאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהdid,יֵשׁוּעַJesusוְאִם־יִכָּתְבוּthe which, if they should be writtenכֻלָּםevery one,לְאַחַדone byאֶחָדoneאֲדַמֶּהI supposeשֶׁגַּם־הָעוֹלָםthat even the worldכֻּלּוֹitselfלֹאnotיָכִילcould containאֶת־הַסְּפָרִיםthe booksאֲשֶׁרthatיִכָּתֵבוּshould be written.אָמֵן׃Amen.

    And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
