   The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

   Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

   וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand to whomגַּם־הִתְיַצֵּבgam-hit/yats/TSEValso he presented himselfלָהֶםla/HEMto themחַיchayaliveבְּאֹתוֹתbe/o/TOTby signsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterעֻנּוֹתוֹun/no/TOhis sufferingוַיֵּרָאvay/ye/RAand he appearedאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיוֹםyomdaysוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand he spokeעַל־מַלְכוּתal-mal/KHUTabout the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

   וּבְהִתְאַסְּפוֹu/ve/hit/as/se/FOand when he gatheredעִמָּהֶםim/ma/HEMwith themצִוָּהtsiv/VAhe commandedאֹתָםo/TAMthemלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotסוּרsurto departמִירוּשָׁלָיִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemוּלְהוֹחִילu/le/ho/CHILand to wait forלְהַבְטָחַתle/hav/ta/CHATthe promise ofהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/MEN/nifrom me

   And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

   כִּיkiforיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהִטְבִּילhit/BILbaptizedבַּמָּיִםbam/MA/yimwith waterוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youתִּטָּבְלוּtit/ta/ve/LUwill be baptizedבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁbe/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshwith the Holy Spiritבְּעוֹדbe/ODwithinיָמִיםya/MIMdaysלֹאlonotרַבִּים׃rab/BIMmany

   For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּהִתְאַסְּפָםbe/hit/as/se/FAMwhen they were gatheredיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּvay/yish/a/lu/HUand they asked himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordהֲתָשִׁיבha/ta/SHIVwill you restoreבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֶת־הַמַּלְכוּתet-ham/mal/KHUTthe kingdomלְיִשְׂרָאֵל׃le/Yis/ra/ELto Israel

   When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7. 7

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלֹאlonotלָכֶםla/KHEMis it for youלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowהָעִתִּיםha/it/TIMthe timesוְהַזְּמַנִּיםve/haz/ze/man/NIMand the seasonsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשָׂםsamhas putהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherבְּשִׁלְטָנוֹ׃be/shil/ta/NOin His authority

   And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutתִּשְׂאוּtis/Uyou will receiveגְבוּרָהge/vu/RApowerבְּבוֹאbe/VOwhen comesעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMon youרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritוִהְיִיתֶםvih/yi/TEMand you will beעֵדַיe/DAYmy witnessesבִּירוּשָׁלַיִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemוּבְכׇלu/ve/KHOLand in allיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudaeaוּבְשׁוֹמְרוֹןu/ve/Shom/RONand in Samariaוְעַד־קְצֵהve/AD-ke/TSEand to the end ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe earth

   But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלּוֹתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingזֹאתzotthisהֹעֲלָהho/a/LAhe was taken upוְהֵםve/HEMand theyרֹאִיםro/IMwere watchingוַיִּשָּׂאֵהוּvay/yis/sa/E/huand took him upעָנָןa/NANa cloudמִנֶּגֶדmin/NE/gedfrom beforeעֵינֵיהֶם׃e/ne/HEMtheir eyes

   And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

    וַיַּבִּיטוּvay/yab/BI/tuand they lookedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himהַשָּׁמַיְמָהhash/sha/MAY/matoward heavenבַּעֲלוֹתוֹba/a/lo/TOas he went upוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenלְבוּשֵׁיle/vu/SHEclothed inלְבָנִיםle/va/NIMwhiteנִצָּבִיםnits/tsa/VIMwere standingעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMby them

    And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofהַגָּלִילHag/ga/LILGalileeמַה־תַּעַמְדוּma-ta/am/DUwhy do you standוְעֵינֵיכֶםve/e/ne/KHEMand your eyesלַשָּׁמָיִםlash/sha/MA/yimto the heavensזֶהzethisיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוֹעֲלָהho/a/LAwas taken upמֵעֲלֵיכֶםme/a/le/KHEMfrom youהַשָּׁמַיְמָהhash/sha/MAY/mainto heavenבּוֹאbocomeיָבוֹאya/VOwill comeכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasרְאִיתֶםre/i/TEMyou have seenאֹתוֹo/TOhimעֹלֶהo/LEgoing upהַשָּׁמָיְמָה׃hash/sha/MAY/mainto heaven

    Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

    וַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand returnedוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentיְרוּשָׁלַיְמָהYe/ru/sha/LAY/mato Jerusalemמִן־הָהָרmin-ha/HARfrom the mountainהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledהַרharthe mount ofהַזֵּיתִיםHaz/ze/TIMOlivesוְהוּאve/HUwhich isקָרוֹבka/ROVnearלִירוּשָׁלַיִםlI/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemכְּדֶרֶךְke/DE/rekhabout the way ofתְּחוּםte/CHUMthe limit ofשַׁבָּת׃shab/BATa sabbath

    Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand they went upאֶל־הָעֲלִיָּהel-ha/a/liy/YAto the upper roomאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereיָשְׁבוּ־בָהּya/she/VU-vawere staying in itפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוְיַעֲקֹבve/Ya/a/KOVand Jamesוְיוֹחָנָןve/Yo/cha/NANand Johnוְאַנְדְּרַיve/An/de/RAYand AndrewפִילִפּוֹסFi/lip/POSPhilipוְתוֹמָאve/To/MAand Thomasבַּר־תַּלְמַיBar-tal/MAYBartholomewוּמַתַּיu/Mat/TAYand MatthewיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJamesבֶּן־חַלְפַיben-Chal/FAYthe son of Alphaeusוְשִׁמְעוֹןve/Shim/ONand SimonהַקַּנָּאHak/kan/NAZelotesוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judasאֲחִיa/CHIthe brother ofיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVJames

    And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

14. 14

    כׇּלkolallאֵלֶּהEL/letheseהָיוּha/YUwereשֹׁקְדִיםshok/DIMdevotedיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherבְּלֵבbe/LEVwith a heartאֶחָדe/CHADoneבִּתְפִלָּהbit/fil/LAin prayerוּבְתַחֲנוּנִיםu/ve/ta/cha/nu/NIMand in supplicationsהֵםhemtheyוְהַנָּשִׁיםve/han/na/SHIMand the womenעִםimwithמִרְיָםMir/YAMMaryאֵםemthe mother ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוְעִם־אֶחָיו׃ve/IM-e/CHAYVand with his brothers

    These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

15. 15

    וּבַיָּמִיםu/vay/ya/MIMand in the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseקָםkamroseפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַתַּלְמִידִיםhat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciplesוּמִסְפַּרu/mis/PARand the number ofשְׁמוֹתshe/MOTnamesהַנִּקְהָלִיםhan/nik/ha/LIMwho were gatheredיַחַדYA/chadtogetherכְּמֵאָהke/me/Aabout a hundredוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

    And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

16. 16

    אֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersמָלֹאma/LObe fulfilledנִמְלָאnim/LAwas fulfilledהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthe scriptureהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritדִּבֵּרdib/BERspokeמִקֶּדֶםmik/KE/dembeforehandבְּפִיbe/FIby the mouth ofדָוִדDa/VIDDavidעַל־יְהוּדָהal-Ye/hu/DAconcerning Judasאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAbecameלְמוֹלִיךְle/mo/LIKHa guideאֶת־תֹּפְשֵׂיet-tof/SEto those who seizedיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

17. 17

    כִּי־הָיָהki-ha/YAfor he wasנִמְנֶהnim/NEcountedאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usוַיְהִי־לוֹvay/HI-loand he hadחֵלֶקCHE/lekpart ofבַּשֵּׁרוּתbash/she/RUTministryהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

18. 18

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuheקָנָהka/NAacquiredלוֹlofor himselfשָׂדֶהsa/DEa fieldבִּשְׂכַרbis/KHARwith the wages ofהָרִשְׁעָהha/rish/Awickednessוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand he fellעַל־פָּנָיוal-pa/NAYVon his faceאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundוַיִּבָּקַעvay/yib/ba/KAand he burst openבַּתָּוֶךְbat/TA/vekhin the midstוַיִּשָּׁפְכוּvay/yish/sha/fe/KHUand poured outכׇּל־מֵעָיו׃kol-me/AYVall his bowels

    Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

19. 19

    וְנוֹדָעve/no/DAand became knownהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְכׇל־יֹשְׁבֵיle/KHOL-yosh/VEto all the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוַיִּקָּרֵאvay/yik/ka/REand was calledבִּשְׂפָתָםbis/fa/TAMin their languageלַשָּׂדֶהlas/sa/DEthe fieldהַהוּאha/HUthatחֲקַלCha/KALAcel-דְּמָאde/MAdamaהוּאhuthat isשְׂדֵהse/DEthe field ofהַדָּם׃had/DAMblood

    And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

20. 20

    כִּיkiforכָתוּבkha/TUVwrittenבְּסֵפֶרbe/SE/ferin the book ofתְּהִלִּיםTe/hil/LIMPsalmsתְּהִי־טִירָתוֹte/HI-ti/ra/TOlet his encampment beנְשַׁמָּהne/sham/MAdesolateוְאַל־יְהִיve/AL-ye/HIand let there not beבָהּvain itיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVone dwellingוּפְקֻדָּתוֹu/fe/kud/da/TOand his officeיִקַּחyik/KACHlet takeאַחֵר׃a/CHERanother

    For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

21. 21

    וְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenand thereforeמִן־הָאֲנָשִׁיםmin-ha/a/na/SHIMof the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִתְהַלְּכוּhit/hal/le/KHUwalkedאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usכׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the daysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour LordיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusיוֹצֵאyo/TSEwent outוָבָאva/VAand came inלְפָנֵינוּ׃le/fa/NE/nubefore us

    Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22. 22

    הָחֵלha/CHELbeginningמִטְּבִילַתmit/te/vi/LATfrom the baptism ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnעַד־יוֹםad-yomuntil the dayהִלָּקְחוֹhil/la/ke/CHOhe was takenמֵאִתָּנוּme/it/TA/nufrom usיְמֻנֶּהye/mun/NEmust be appointedאֶחָדe/CHADoneלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usלְעֵדle/EDas a witness ofתְּחִיָּתוֹ׃te/chiy/ya/TOhis resurrection

    Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

23. 23

    וַיַּעֲמִידוּvay/ya/a/MI/duand they put forwardשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoאֶת־יוֹסֵףet-Yo/SEFJosephהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledבַר־שַׁבָּאVar-shab/BABarsabasוְהוּאve/HUand heמְכֻנֶּהme/khun/NEwas surnamedיוּסְטוֹסYus/TOSJustusוְאֵתve/ETandמַתִּיָּה׃Mat/tiy/YAMatthias

    And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24. 24

    וַיִּתְפַּלְלוּvay/yit/pal/LUand they prayedוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאַתָּהat/TAYouיְהוָֹהAdonaiO LORDהַיּוֹדֵעַhay/yo/DE/awho knowכׇּל־הַלְּבָבוֹתkol-hal/le/va/VOTall the heartsהַרְאֵה־נָאhar/E-nashow nowמִן־הַשְּׁנַיִםmin-hash/she/NA/yimof the twoהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֶת־הָאֶחָדet-ha/e/CHADthe oneאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomבָּחַרְתָּba/CHAR/taYou have chosenבּוֹ׃bohim

    And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25. 25

    לָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־גּוֹרַלet-go/RALthe share ofהַשֵּׁרוּתhash/she/RUTthe ministryהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְהַשְּׁלִיחוּתve/hash/she/li/CHUTand apostleshipאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָפַלna/FALfellמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudasבְּפִשְׁעוֹbe/fish/Oby transgressionלַהֲלֹךְla/ha/LOKHto goאֶל־מְקוֹמוֹ׃el-me/ko/MOto his place

    That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26. 26

    וַיַּפִּילוּvay/yap/PI/luand they castגוֹרָלוֹתgo/ra/LOTlotsוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellהַגּוֹרָלhag/go/RALthe lotעַל־מַתִּיָּהal-Mat/tiy/YAon Matthiasוַיִּסָּפַחvay/yis/sa/FACHand he was addedאֶל־עַשְׁתֵּי־עָשָׂרel-ash/TE-a/SARwith the elevenהַשְּׁלִיחִים׃hash/she/li/CHIMthe apostles

    And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
