1. 1

   וּבְיוֹםAnd when the dayמְלֹאתwas fully comeשִׁבְעַתof the sevenהַשָּׁבֻעוֹתweeks,נֶאֶסְפוּthey were gatheredכֻלָּםall,לֵבof heartאֶחָד׃one.

   And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2. 2

   וַיְהִיAnd there cameקוֹלa soundרַעַשׁof rushingמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom heavenפִּתְאֹםsuddenly,כְּקוֹלas the sound ofרוּחַa windסְעָרָהmighty,וַיְמַלֵּאand it filledאֶת־כׇּל־הַבַּיִתall the houseאֲשֶׁרwhereהֵםthey wereיֹשְׁבִיםsittingבּוֹ׃in.

   And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

   וַתֵּרָאֶינָהAnd there appearedאֲלֵיהֶםunto themלְשֹׁנוֹתtonguesמִתְפָּרְדוֹתcloven,בְּמַרְאֵהlike as ofאֵשׁfire,וַתָּנוּחַand it satאַחַתoneאַחַתby oneעַלuponכׇּל־אֶחָדeach oneמֵהֶם׃of them.

   And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

   וַיִּמָּלְאוּAnd they were filledכֻלָּםallרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁwith the Holy Ghost,וַיָּחֵלּוּand beganלְדַבֵּרto speakבִּלְשֹׁנוֹתwith tonguesאֲחֵרוֹתother,כַּאֲשֶׁרasנְתָנָםgave themהָרוּחַthe Spiritלְסַפֵּר׃utterance.

   And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

   וּבִירוּשָׁלַיִםAnd at Jerusalemשָׁכְנוּwere dwellingיְהוּדִיםJews,יִרְאֵיfearers ofאֱלֹהִיםGod,מִבֵּיןout ofכׇּל־גּוֹיevery nationאֲשֶׁרwhich isתַּחַתunderכׇּלallהַשָּׁמָיִם׃heaven.

   And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

   וַיְהִיNow whenבִּהְיוֹתwasקוֹלthe soundהָרַעַשׁof the rushingהַהוּאthat,וַיִּקָּבְצוּcame togetherעַם־רָבthe multitude,וַיִּהְיוּand wereנְבֻכִיםconfounded,כִּיbecauseכׇל־אִישׁevery manשֹׁמֵעַheardאֹתָםthemמְדַבְּרִיםspeakכִּשְׂפַתin the tongue ofאַרְצוֹ׃his own land.

   Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

   וַיִּשְׁתּוֹמֲמוּAnd they were amazedוַיִּתְמְהוּand marvelled,וַיֹּאמְרוּsayingאִישׁoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּto another,הִנֵּהBehold,הַמְדַבְּרִיםthese who speakהָאֵלֶּהall,הֲלֹאare they notכֻלָּםallבְּנֵיsons ofהַגָּלִילGalileeהֵמָּה׃are they?

   And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilæans?

8. 8

   וְאֵיךְAnd howשֹׁמְעִיםhearאֲנַחְנוּweאֹתָםthem,אִישׁevery manכִּשְׂפַת־אֶרֶץin the tongue of the land ofמוֹלַדְתֵּנוּ׃our birth?

   And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

   פַּרְתִּיִּיםParthians,וּמָדִיםand Medes,וְעֵילָמִיםand Elamites,וְיֹשְׁבֵיand the dwellers ofאֲרַםAramנַהֲרָיִםNaharaim,יְהוּדָהJudaea,וְקַפּוֹדְקִיָּהand Cappadocia,פָּנְטוֹסin Pontus,וְאַסְיָא׃and Asia,

   Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judæa, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

    פְּרוּגְיָאPhrygia,וּפַמְפּוּלְיָאand Pamphylia,מִצְרַיִםin Egypt,וְחֶבֶלand in the parts ofלוּבLibyaאֲשֶׁרwhich isעַל־יַדaboutקוּרִינִיCyrene,וְהַבָּאִיםand strangersמֵרוֹמִיof Rome,יְהוּדִיםJewsוְגֵרִים׃and proselytes,

    Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

    כְּרֵתִיםCretesוְעַרְבִיםand Arabians,הִנֵּהbehold,אֲנַחְנוּweשֹׁמְעִיםdo hearאֹתָםthemמְסַפְּרִיםspeakבִּלְשֹׁנוֹתֵינוּin our tonguesגְּדֻלּוֹתthe wonderful works ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

12. 12

    וַיִּתְמְהוּAnd they were amazed,כֻלָּםall,וַיִּבָּהֵלוּand were in doubt,וַיֹּאמְרוּsayingאִישׁoneאֶל־אָחִיוto his brother,מַה־זֹּאת׃What meaneth this?

    And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13. 13

    וַאֲחֵרִיםBut othersלָעֲגוּmockingוַיֹּאמְרוּsaid,כִּי־מְלֵאֵיFor full ofעָסִיסnew wineהֵמָּה׃are they.

    Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14. 14

    אָזThenיַעֲמֹדstood upפֶּטְרוֹסPeter,וְעַשְׁתֵּי־הֶעָשָׂרand the elevenעִמּוֹwith him,וַיִּשָּׂאand lifted upאֶת־קוֹלוֹhis voice,וַיְדַבֵּרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לֵאמֹרsaying,אַנְשֵׁיYou men ofיְהוּדָהJudaea,וְיֹשְׁבֵיand the dwellers ofיְרוּשָׁלַיִםJerusalem,כֻּלָּםall,זֹאתthisיָדֹעַbe it knownתֵּדְעוּunto you,וְהַאֲזִינוּand hearkenאֶל־דְּבָרָי׃to my words.

    But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judæa, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15. 15

    כִּיForהָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menהָאֵלֶּהtheseלֹאare notשִׁכּוֹרִיםdrunkenהֵמָּהthey,כַּאֲשֶׁרasאֲמַרְתֶּםyou suppose,כִּיseeingשָׁלשׁbut threeשָׁעוֹתhoursבַּיּוֹםof the dayעָתָּה׃now.

    For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16. 16

    וְהוּאBut thisהָאָמוּרis that which was spokenעַל־יְדֵיbyיוֹאֵלJoelהַנָּבִיא׃the prophet;

    But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17. 17

    וְהָיָהAnd it shall come to passבָּאַחֲרִיתin the lastהַיָּמִיםdays,נְאֻםsaithאֱלֹהִיםGod,אֶשְׁפֹּךְI will pour outאֶת־רוּחִיmy Spiritעַל־כׇּל־בָּשָׂרupon all flesh:וְנִבְּאוּand shall prophesyבְּנֵיכֶםyour sonsוּבְנֹתֵיכֶםand your daughters,וּבַחוּרֵיכֶםand your young menחֶזְיֹנוֹתvisionsיִרְאוּshall see,וְזִקְנֵיכֶםand your old menחֲלֹמוֹתdreamsיַחֲלֹמוּן׃shall dream.

    And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18. 18

    וְגַםAnd alsoעַל־עֲבָדַיupon my servantsוְעַל־שִׁפְחוֹתַיand upon my handmaidensבַּיָּמִיםin daysהָהֵמָּהthoseאֶשְׁפֹּךְwill I pour outאֶת־רוּחִיmy Spirit;וְנִבָּאוּ׃and they shall prophesy.

    And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19. 19

    וְנָתַתִּיAnd I will shewמוֹפְתִיםwondersבַּשָּׁמַיִםin heavenמִמַּעַלabove,וְאֹתוֹתand signsבָּאָרֶץin the earthמִתָּחַתbeneath;דָּםblood,וָאֵשׁand fire,וְתִימְרוֹתand vapor ofעָשָׁן׃smoke:

    And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20. 20

    הַשֶּׁמֶשׁThe sunיֵהָפֵךְshall be turnedלְחֹשֶׁךְinto darkness,וְהַיָּרֵחַand the moonלְדָםinto blood,לִפְנֵיbeforeבּוֹאcomeיוֹםthe dayיְהוָֹהof the LORDהַגָּדוֹלgreatוְהַנּוֹרָא׃and notable:

    The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21. 21

    וְהָיָהAnd it shall come to pass,כֹּלeveryoneאֲשֶׁר־יִקְרָאthat shall callבְּשֵׁם־יְהוָֹהon the name of the LORDיִמָּלֵט׃shall be saved.

    And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22. 22

    אַנְשֵׁיYou men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsrael,שִׁמְעוּhearהַדְּבָרִיםwordsהָאֵלֶּהthese;יֵשׁוּעַJesusהַנָּצְרִיof Nazareth,הָאִישׁa manאֲשֶׁרwhichנֶאֱמַןwas approvedלָכֶםamong youמֵאֵתofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבִּגְבוּרוֹתby miraclesוּבְמוֹפְתִיםand wondersוּבְאֹתוֹתand signs,אֲשֶׁרwhichהָאֱלֹהִיםGodעָשָׂהdidעַל־יָדוֹby himבְּתוֹכֲכֶםin the midst of you,כַּאֲשֶׁרasיְדַעְתֶּםyou yourselves knowגַּם־אַתֶּם׃also:

    Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

23. 23

    אֹתוֹHim,הַנִּמְסָרbeing deliveredעַל־פִּיbyעֲצַתthe counselהָאֱלֹהִיםof Godהַנֶּחֱרָצָהdetermined,וִידִיעָתוֹand his foreknowledgeמִקֶּדֶםof old,לְקַחְתֶּםyou have taken,וּבִידֵיand by handsרְשָׁעִיםof wicked menהוֹקַעְתֶּםyou have crucifiedוַהֲרַגְתֶּם׃and slain:

    Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

24. 24

    וֵאלֹהִיםWhom Godהֱקִימוֹhath raised up,מִן־הַמֵּתִיםfrom the dead,בְּהַתִּירוֹhaving loosedאֶת־חֶבְלֵיthe pains ofהַמָּוֶתdeath:לְפִיbecauseשֶׁלּאnotהָיָהit wasבְיָדוֹpossible in its powerלְהַחֲזִיקto holdבּוֹ׃him.

    Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

25. 25

    כִּי־דָוִדFor Davidאֹמֵרsaithעָלָיוconcerning him,שִׁוִּיתִיI foresawיְהוָֹהthe LORDלְנֶגְדִּיbefore my faceתָמִידalways,כִּיforמִימִינִיhe is on my right hand,בַּל־אֶמּוֹט׃that I should not be moved:

    For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26. 26

    לָכֵןThereforeשָׂמַחdid rejoiceלִבִּיmy heart,וַיָּגֶלand was gladכְּבוֹדִיmy tongue;אַף־בְּשָׂרִיmoreover my fleshיִשְׁכֹּןshall restלָבֶטַח׃in hope:

    Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

27. 27

    כִּיBecauseלֹא־תַעֲזֹבyou will not leaveנַפְשִׁיmy soulלִשְׁאוֹלin hell,לֹא־תִתֵּןneither will you sufferחֲסִידְךָyour Holy Oneלִרְאוֹתto seeשָׁחַת׃corruption.

    Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28. 28

    תּוֹדִיעֵנִיYou have made known to meאׇרְחוֹתthe ways ofחַיִּיםlife;שֹׂבַעwith fulness ofשְׂמָחוֹתjoyאֶת־פָּנֶיךָ׃with your countenance.

    Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

29. 29

    אֲנָשִׁיםMenאַחִיםand brethren,הַנִּיחוּletלִיmeוַאֲדַבְּרָהfreely speakאֲלֵיכֶםunto youכַּאֲשֶׁרasעִםwithלְבָבִיmy heart,דָּוִדDavidאָבִינוּour fatherמֵתis deadוְנִקְבַּרand buried,וּקְבוּרָתוֹand his sepulchreאִתָּנוּwith usהִיאisעַד־הַיּוֹםunto dayהַזֶּה׃this.

    Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

30. 30

    וְהוּאTherefore beingנָבִיאa prophet,וְיֹדֵעַand knowingאֶת־הַשְּׁבוּעָהthat an oathאֲשֶׁרwhichנִשְׁבַּעhad swornלוֹunto him,הָאֱלֹהִיםGodלְהָקִיםhe would raise upאֶת־הַמָּשִׁיחַthe Christכְּפִיaccording toהַבָּשָׂרthe flesh,מִפְּרִיof the fruit ofחֲלָצָיוhis loins,לְהוֹשִׁיבוֹto sitעַל־כִּסְאוֹ׃on his throne;

    Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31. 31

    לָכֵןThereforeבַּחֲזוֹתוֹseeing this before,לְמֵרָחוֹקfrom afar,דִּבֶּרspakeעַל־תְּקוּמַתof the resurrection ofהַמָּשִׁיחַChrist,כִּיthatלֹא־נֶעֶזְבָהwas not leftנַפְשׁוֹhis soulלִשְׁאוֹלin hell,וְגַם־בְּשָׂרוֹneither his fleshלֹא־רָאָהdid seeשָׁחַת׃corruption.

    He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

32. 32

    הוּאThisיֵשׁוּעַJesus,אֲשֶׁרwhomהֵקִיםhath raised up,אֱלֹהִיםGodמִן־הַמֵּתִיםfrom the dead,וַאֲנַחְנוּand weכֻלָּנוּallעֵדָיו׃are his witnesses.

    This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

33. 33

    וְעַתָּהTherefore nowאַחֲרֵיafterהִנָּשְׂאוֹbeing exaltedבִּימִיןby the right hand ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,לָקַחhaving receivedמֵאֵתofאָבִיוthe Fatherאֶת־הַבְטָחַתthe promise ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe Holy Ghost,וַיִּשְׁפֹּךְhe hath shed forthאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthis, whichאַתֶּםyouרֹאִיםnow seeוְשֹׁמְעִים׃and hear.

    Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

34. 34

    כִּיForדָוִדDavidלֹאis notעָלָהascendedהַשָּׁמָיְמָהinto the heavens:וְהִנֵּהbutהוּאheאֹמֵרsaith himself,נְאֻם־יְהוָֹהThe LORD saidלַאדֹנִיunto my Lord,שֵׁבSit youלִימִינִי׃on my right hand,

    For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35. 35

    עַד־אָשִׁיתUntil I makeאֹיְבֶיךָyour foesהֲדֹםthe footstoolלְרַגְלֶיךָ׃of your feet.

    Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

36. 36

    לָכֵןThereforeיֵדַע־נָאlet knowבֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵלthe house of Israelכֻּלּוֹall,בָּרוּרassuredly,כִּיthatהָאֱלֹהִיםGodשָׂםhath madeאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַJesus,זֶהthat sameאֲשֶׁרwhomצְלַבְתֶּםyou have crucified,לְאָדוֹןboth Lordוּלְמָשִׁיחַ׃and Christ.

    Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37. 37

    וַיְהִיNow whenכְשָׁמְעָםthey heard,הִתְעַצְּבוּthey were prickedאֶל־לִבָּםin their heart,וַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֶל־פֶּטְרוֹסunto Peterוְאֶל־שְׁאָרand to the rest ofהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe apostles,אֲנָשִׁיםMenאַחִיםand brethren,מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה׃what shall we do?

    Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen saidפֶּטְרוֹסPeterאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,שׁוּבוּRepent,מִדַּרְכֵיכֶםfrom your ways,וְהִטָּבְלוּand be baptizedכׇּל־אִישׁevery oneמִכֶּםof youלְשֵׁםin the name ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristלִסְלִיחַתfor the remission ofחֲטָאֵיכֶםyour sins,וְקִבַּלְתֶּםand you shall receiveאֶת־מַתְּנַתthe gift ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃the Holy Ghost.

    Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39. 39

    כִּיForלָכֶםunto youהַהַבְטָחָהis the promise,וְלִבְנֵיכֶםand to your children,וּלְכֹלand to allהָרְחוֹקִיםthat are afar off,לְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרeven as many asקֹרֵאshall callיְהוָֹהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godלָהֶם׃unto them.

    For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40. 40

    וַיָּעַדAnd he testifiedעוֹדyetבָּהֶםwith themבִּדְּבָרִיםwith wordsאֲחֵרִיםotherהַרְבֵּהmany,וַיַּזְהִירֵםand warned them,לֵאמֹרsaying,הִמָּלְטוּSave yourselves,נָאI pray,מִן־הַדּוֹרfrom the generationהָעִקֵּשׁuntowardהַזֶּה׃this.

    And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41. 41

    וַיְקַבְּלוּThen they receivedאֶת־דְּבָרוֹhis wordבְּשִׂמְחָהwith gladnessוַיִּטָּבֵלוּand were baptized:וּבַיּוֹםand in the dayהַהוּאthatנוֹסְפוּthere were addedכִּשְׁלשֶׁתabout threeאַלְפֵיthousandנָפֶשׁ׃souls.

    Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42. 42

    וַיִּהְיוּAnd they continuedשֹׁקְדִיםstedfastlyעַל־תּוֹרַתin the doctrine ofהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe apostlesוְעַל־הַהִתְחַבְּרוּתand in fellowship,וְעַל־בְּצִיעַתand in breaking ofהַלֶּחֶםbread,וְעַל־הַתְּפִלָּה׃and in prayer.

    And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43. 43

    וַתִּפֹּלAnd there fellאֵימָהfearעַל־כׇּל־נֶפֶשׁupon every soul:וּמוֹפְתִיםand wondersרַבִּיםmanyוְאֹתוֹתand signsנַעֲשׂוּwere doneעַל־יְדֵיby the hands ofהַשְּׁלִיחִים׃the apostles

    And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44. 44

    וְכׇל־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםAnd all that believedהִתְאַחֲדוּwereיָחַדtogether,וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all things whichלָהֶםthey hadהָיָהwasלְנַחֲלַתthe inheritance ofכֻּלָּם׃all.

    And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45. 45

    וַיִּמְכְּרוּAnd soldאֶת־אַחֻזָּתָםtheir possessionsוְאֶת־רְכוּשָׁםand goods,וַיְחַלְּקוּand parted themלְכֻלָּםto all,לְאִישׁto everyאִישׁmanדֵּיaccording toמַחְסוֹרוֹ׃his need.

    And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46. 46

    וְיוֹםAnd dayיוֹםby day,הָיוּthey wereשֹׁקְדִיםcontinuing stedfastlyלִהְיוֹתto beבַּמִּקְדָּשׁin the temple,לֵבwith heartאֶחָדone,וַיִּבְצְעוּand breakingאֶת־הַלֶּחֶםbreadבַּבַּיִתfrom houseבַּבָּיִתto house,וַיֹּאכְלוּand did eatמְזוֹנָםtheir meatבְּגִילָהwith gladnessוּבְתֹםand singleness ofלֵבָב׃heart,

    And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47. 47

    וַיְשַׁבְּחוּpraisingאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיִּמְצְאוּand havingחֵןfavorבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofכׇל־הָעָםall the people.וְהָאָדוֹןAnd the Lordהוֹסִיףaddedיוֹםdayיוֹםby dayעַל־הָעֵדָהto the churchאֶת־הַנּוֹשָׁעִים׃such as were saved.

    Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
