1. 1

   אֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tihave I spokenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatלֹאlonotתִכָּשֵׁלוּ׃tik/ka/she/LUyou should be offended

   These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

2. 2

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיְנַדּוּye/nad/DUthey will banאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִבָּתֵּיmib/bat/TEout of the houses ofהַכְּנֶסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyוְאַףve/AFand evenבָּאָהba/Ais comingשָׁעָהsha/Athe timeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatכׇּל־הֹרֵגkol-ho/REGeveryone who killsאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouיְדַמֶּהye/dam/MEwill thinkלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOThe is doingעֲבוֹדָהa/vo/DAserviceלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMto God

   They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

   וְאֶת־אֵלֶּהve/ET-EL/leand theseיַעֲשׂוּya/a/SUwill they doלָכֶםla/KHEMto youיַעַןYA/anbecauseגַּם־אֶת־הָאָבgam-et-Ha/AVneither the Fatherוְגַם־אֹתִיve/GAM-o/TInor meלֹאlonotיָדָעוּ׃ya/DA/udid they know

   And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutהִגַּדְתִּיhig/GAD/tiI have toldלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatאֲשֶׁר־תִּזְכְּרוּa/SHER-tiz/ke/RUyou may rememberבְּבֹאbe/VOwhen comesהַשָּׁעָהhash/sha/Athe hourכִּיkithatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIדִבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tispokeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youוּמֵרֹאשׁu/me/ROSHand from the beginningלֹא־דִּבַּרְתִּיlo-dib/BAR/tiI did not speakאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseכִּיkibecauseהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasעִמָּכֶם׃im/ma/KHEMwith you

   But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהֹלֵךְho/LEKHam goingאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֶל־שֹׁלְחִיel-shol/CHIto Him who sent meוְלֹאve/LOand notיִשְׁאָלֵנִיyish/a/le/NIdoes ask meאִישׁisha manמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youאָנָהA/nawhereתֵלֵךְ׃te/LEKHare you going

   But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

6. 6

   וְעַצֶּבֶתve/ats/TSE/vetand griefמָלְאָהma/le/Ahas filledלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMyour heartעַל־דַּבְּרִיal-dab/be/RIbecause of my speakingאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseאֲלֵיכֶם׃a/le/KHEMto you

   But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

   אוּלָםu/LAMbutאֱמֶתe/METtruthאַגִּידag/GIDI tellלָכֶםla/KHEMyouכִּיkithatלֶכְתִּיlekh/TImy going awayטוֹבtovis expedientלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youכִּיkiforאִם־לֹאim-loif notאֵלֵךְe/LEKHI go awayלֹא־יָבֹאlo-ya/VOwill not comeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youהַמְּנַחֵםham/Me/na/CHEMthe Comforterוְאִם־הָלַכְתִּיve/IM-ha/LAKH/tibut if I departאֶשְׁלָחֵהוּesh/la/che/HUI will send himאֲלֵיכֶם׃a/le/KHEMto you

   Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it will beכִּי־יָבֹאki-ya/VOwhen he comesוְהוֹכִיחַve/ho/KHI/achhe will reproveאֶת־הָעוֹלָםet-ha/o/LAMthe worldעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARconcerningהַחֵטְאha/CHETsinוְהַצֶּדֶקve/hats/TSE/dekand righteousnessוְהַמִּשְׁפָּט׃ve/ham/mish/PATand judgment

   And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9. 9

   עַל־הַחֵטְאal-ha/CHETconcerning sinכִּיkibecauseלֹא־הֶאֱמִינוּlo-he/e/MI/nuthey did not believeבִי׃viin me

   Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10. 10

    וְעַל־הַצֶּדֶקve/AL-hats/TSE/dekand concerning righteousnessכִּיkibecauseאֵלֵךְe/LEKHI goאֶל־אָבִיel-A/VIto my Fatherוְלֹאve/LOand notתוֹסִיפוּto/SI/fuwill you continueלִרְאוֹתlir/OTseeאֹתִי׃o/TIme

    Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11. 11

    וְעַל־הַמִּשְׁפָּטve/AL-ham/mish/PATand concerning judgmentכִּיkibecauseנִדּוֹןnid/DONhas been judgedשַׂרsarthe prince ofהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

12. 12

    עוֹדodyetרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmany thingsלִיliI haveלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאַךְakhbutלֹא־תוּכְלוּןlo-tukh/LUNyou cannotשְׂאֵתse/ETbearעָתָּה׃AT/tanow

    I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13. 13

    וְרוּחַve/RU/achand the Spirit ofהָאֱמֶתha/e/METtruthבְּבֹאוֹbe/vo/Owhen he comesהוּאhuheיַדְרִיךְyad/RIKHwill guideאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֶל־הָאֱמֶתel-ha/e/METinto the truthכֻּלָּהּkul/LAall of itכִּיkiforלֹאlonotיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERwill he speakמֵעַצְמוֹme/ats/MOof himselfכִּיkibutאִםimonlyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatיִשְׁמַעyish/MAhe hearsיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERhe will speakוְהָאֹתִיּוֹתve/ha/o/tiy/YOTand the things to comeיַגִּידyag/GIDhe will showלָכֶם׃la/KHEMyou

    Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14. 14

    הוּאhuheיְפָאֲרֵנִיye/fa/a/re/NIwill glorify meכִּיkiforמֵאֲשֶׁר־לִיme/a/SHER-liof mineיִקַּחyik/KACHhe will receiveוְיַגִּידve/yag/GIDand will showלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15. 15

    כֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלָאָבla/AVthe Father hasלִיliis mineהוּאhuitעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidכִּיkithatמֵאֲשֶׁר־לִיme/a/SHER-liof mineיִקַּחyik/KACHhe will takeוְיַגִּידve/yag/GIDand will showלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

16. 16

    הֵן־מְעַטhen-me/ATbehold a littleוְלֹאve/LOand notתִרְאוּנִיtir/u/NIwill you see meוְעוֹד־מְעַטve/OD-me/ATand again a littleוְתֶחֱזוּנִיve/te/che/zu/NIand you will behold meכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIbecause Iהֹלֵךְho/LEKHam goingאֶל־הָאָב׃el-Ha/AVto the Father

    A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

17. 17

    וּמִקְצָתu/mik/TSATand some ofתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesנִדְבְּרוּnid/be/RUspokeאִישׁisheach manאֶל־אָחִיוel-a/CHIVto his brotherלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhat isאׇמְרוֹom/ROhis sayingאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuto usהֵן־מְעַטhen-me/ATbehold a littleוְלֹאve/LOand notתִרְאוּנִיtir/u/NIwill you see meוְעוֹד־מְעַטve/OD-me/ATand again a littleוְתֶחֱזוּנִיve/te/che/zu/NIand you will behold meוְאָמְרוֹve/a/me/ROand his sayingכִּיkibecauseאֲנִיa/NIIהֹלֵךְho/LEKHam goingאֶל־הָאָב׃el-Ha/AVto the Father

    Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמָהmawhat isאׇמְרוֹom/ROhis sayingמְעָטme/ATa littleלֹאlonotיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nudo we knowמַה־דִּבֵּר׃ma-dib/BERwhat he speaks

    They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

19. 19

    וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusכִּיkithatעִם־לְבָבָםim-le/va/VAMthey were desirousלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto askאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַעַלHA/alis it aboutהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisתִּדְרְשׁוּtid/re/SHUyou inquireזֶהzethis oneאֶת־זֶהet-zewith that oneכִּיkiof thatאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidהֵן־מְעַטhen-me/ATbehold a littleוְלֹאve/LOand notתִרְאוּנִיtir/u/NIwill you see meוְעוֹד־מְעַטve/OD-me/ATand again a littleוְתֶחֱזוּנִי׃ve/te/che/zu/NIand you will behold me

    Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

20. 20

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatאַתֶּםat/TEMyouתִּבְכּוּtiv/KUwill weepוּתְיֵלִילוּu/te/ye/li/LUand lamentוְהָעוֹלָםve/ha/o/LAMand the worldיִשְׂמָחyis/MACHwill rejoiceהֵן־אַתֶּםhen-at/TEMbehold youתֵּעָצְבוּte/a/tse/VUwill be sorrowfulאָכֵןa/KHENbutעׇצְבְּכֶםots/be/KHEMyour sorrowיֵהָפֵךְye/ha/FEKHwill be turnedלְשָׂשׂוֹן׃le/sa/SONinto joy

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

21. 21

    הָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanכִּיkiwhenתַקְרִיבtak/RIVis inלָלֶדֶתla/LE/dettravailעֶצֶבE/tsevsorrowלָהּlais hersכִּיkibecauseבָאָהva/Ais comeשְׁעָתָהּshe/a/TAher hourוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterלִדְתָּהּlid/TAshe is delivered ofאֶת־הַיֶּלֶדet-hay/YE/ledthe childלֹא־תִזְכֹּרlo-tiz/KORshe does not rememberעוֹדodanymoreאֶת־עִצְּבוֹנָהּet-its/tse/vo/NAthe anguishמִשִּׂמְחָהmis/sim/CHAfor joyכִּי־אָדָםki-a/DAMthat a manנוֹלַדno/LADis bornלָעוֹלָם׃la/o/LAMinto the world

    A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

22. 22

    וְגַם־אַתֶּםve/GAM-at/TEMand also youכָּעֵתka/ETnowתִּתְעַצָּבוּtit/ats/tsa/VUhave sorrowוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאָשׁוּבa/SHUVagainאֶרְאֶהer/Ewill seeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְשָׂשׂve/SASand will exultלִבְּכֶםlib/be/KHEMyour heartוְאֵין־מֵסִירve/EN-me/SIRand no one removesשִׂמְחַתְכֶםsim/chat/KHEMyour joyמִכֶּם׃mik/KEMfrom you

    And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

23. 23

    וּבַיּוֹםu/vay/YOMand on the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatלֹאlonotתִשְׁאָלוּנִיtish/a/lu/NIwill you ask meדָּבָרda/VARa thingאָמֵןa/MENamenאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatתִּשְׁאֲלוּtish/a/LUyou will askמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameיִתֵּןyit/TENHe will giveלָכֶם׃la/KHEMyou

    And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

24. 24

    עַד־עַתָּהad-at/TAuntil nowלֹא־שְׁאֶלְתֶּםlo-she/el/TEMyou have not askedדָּבָרda/VARa thingבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameשַׁאֲלוּsha/a/LUaskוְתִקְחוּve/tik/CHUand you shall receiveלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתִּמָּלֵאtim/ma/LEmay be fullשִׂמְחַתְכֶם׃sim/chat/KHEMyour joy

    Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

25. 25

    אֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tihave I spokenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבִּמְשָׁלִיםbim/sha/LIMin proverbsוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdשָׁעָהsha/Athe timeבָאָהva/Acomesוְלֹאve/LOand notאֲדַבֵּרa/dab/BERwill I speakעוֹדodanymoreאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבִּמְשָׁלִיםbim/sha/LIMin proverbsכִּיkibutאִם־בָּרוּרim-ba/RURonly plainlyאַגִּידag/GIDI will showלָכֶםla/KHEMyouעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARconcerningהָאָב׃ha/AVthe Father

    These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

26. 26

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatתִּשְׁאֲלוּtish/a/LUyou will askבִשְׁמִיvish/MIin my nameוְאֵינֶנִּיve/e/NEN/niand I do notאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIאַעְתִּירa/TIRwill prayאֶל־הָאָבel-Ha/AVthe Fatherבַּעַדְכֶם׃ba/ad/KHEMfor you

    At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

27. 27

    כִּי־הָאָבki-Ha/AVfor the Fatherגַּם־הוּאgam-huHe alsoאֹהֵבo/HEVlovesאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouעֵקֶבE/kevbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲהַבְתּוּנִיa/hav/tu/NIyou have loved meוְהֶאֱמַנְתֶּםve/he/e/man/TEMand you have believedכִּי־מֵאֵתki-me/ETthat fromאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodיָצָאתִי׃ya/TSA/tiI came out

    For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

28. 28

    מֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherיָצָאתִיya/TSA/tiI came outוָאָבֹאva/a/VOand cameלָעוֹלָםla/o/LAMinto the worldאָשׁוּבָהa/SHU/vaagainוְאֶעֱזֹבve/e/e/ZOVand leaveאֶת־הָעוֹלָםet-ha/o/LAMthe worldוְאֵלֵךְve/e/LEKHand I goאֶל־הָאָב׃el-Ha/AVto the Father

    I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכָעֵתkha/ETnowבָּרוּרba/RURplainlyתְּמַלֵּלte/mal/LELyou speakוְלֹאve/LOand notתִמְשֹׁלtim/SHOLdo you speakמָשָׁל׃ma/SHALproverb

    His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

30. 30

    עַתָּהat/TAnowיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuwe knowכִּי־כֹלki-kholthat allיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tayou knowוְאֵיןve/ENand notלְךָle/KHAyouצֹרֶךְTSO/rekhneedכִּיkithatיִשְׁאָלְךָyish/a/le/KHAshould ask youאִישׁisha manבָּזֹאתba/ZOTby thisנַאֲמִיןna/a/MINwe believeכִּיkithatמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodיָצָאתָ׃ya/TSA/tayou came out

    Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

31. 31

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themעַתָּהat/TAnowתַאֲמִינוּ׃ta/a/MI/nudo you believe

    Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

32. 32

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁעָהsha/Athe hourבָאָהva/Ais comingוְגַם־עַתָּהve/GAM-at/TAyea nowבָּאָהba/Ais comeוּנְפֹצוֹתֶםu/ne/fo/tso/TEMand you will be scatteredאִישׁisheach manלְבֵיתוֹle/ve/TOto his ownוְאֹתִיve/o/TIand meתַעַזְבוּta/az/VUyou will leaveלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneוְאֵינֶנִּיve/e/NEN/niand I am notלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneכִּיkibecauseהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIis with me

    Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

33. 33

    אֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI have spokenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִהְיֶה־לָכֶםyih/YE-la/KHEMyou may haveשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceבִּיbiin meצָרָהtsa/RAtribulationלָכֶםla/KHEMyou haveבָּעוֹלָםba/o/LAMin the worldאַךְ־יַאֲמֵץakh-ya/a/METSbut be of goodלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMcheerאֲנִיa/NIIנִצַּחְתִּיnits/tsach/TIhave overcomeאֶת־הָעוֹלָם׃et-ha/o/LAMthe world

    These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
