   אָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amהַגֶּפֶןhag/GE/fenthe vineהָאֲמִתִּיתha/a/mit/TITthe trueוְאָבִיve/A/VIand my Fatherהוּאhuisהַכֹּרֵם׃hak/ko/REMthe husbandman

   I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2. 2

   כׇּל־שָׂרִיגkol-sa/RIGevery branchבִּיbiin meאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuis notעֹשֵׂה־פְּרִיo/SE-pe/RIproducing fruitיְסִירֶנּוּye/si/ren/NUHe removes itוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEproducesפְרִיfe/RIfruitיְטַהֲרֶנּוּye/ta/ha/ren/NUHe cleanses itלְהַרְבּוֹתle/har/BOTto increaseאֶת־פִּרְיוֹ׃et-pir/YOits fruit

   Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

   Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

   עִמְדוּ־בִיim/DU-viabide in meוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iבָכֶםva/KHEMin youכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהַשָּׂרִיגhas/sa/RIGthe branchבַּל־יַעֲשֶׂהbal-ya/a/SEcannot produceפְרִיfe/RIfruitמֵאֵלָיוme/e/LAYVby itselfאִם־לֹאim-lounlessיַעֲמֹדya/a/MODit abideבַּגֶּפֶןbag/GE/fenin the vineכֵּןkensoגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoאִם־לֹאim-lounlessתַעַמְדוּta/am/DUyou abideבִּי׃biin me

   Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

   I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

   אִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlodoes notיַעֲמֹדya/a/MODabideבִּיbiin meהֻשְׁלַךְhush/LAKHis thrownהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideכַּשָּׂרִיגkas/sa/RIGlike the branchוַיִּיבַשׁvay/yi/VASHand withersוְיִלְקְטוּםve/yil/ke/TUMand they gather themוְיַשְׁלִיכוּםve/yash/li/KHUMand throw themאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhintoהָאֵשׁha/ESHthe fireוְנִשְׂרָפוּ׃ve/nis/ra/FUand they are burned

   If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

   אִם־תַּעַמְדוּim-ta/am/DUif you abideבִיviin meוּדְבָרַיu/de/va/RAYand my wordsיַעַמְדוּya/am/DUabideבָכֶםva/KHEMin youתִּשְׁאֲלוּtish/a/LUyou will askאֵתetwhatאֲשֶׁר־תַּחְפְּצוּa/SHER-tach/pe/TSUyou willוְיֵעָשֶׂהve/ye/a/SEand it will be doneלָכֶם׃la/KHEMfor you

   If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

   בְּזֹאתbe/ZOThereinנִתְפָּאַרnit/pa/ARis glorifiedאָבִיA/VImy Fatherבַּעֲשׂוֹתְכֶםba/a/sot/KHEMthat you bearפְּרִיpe/RIfruitלָרֹבla/ROVin abundanceוִהְיִיתֶםvih/yi/TEMand you will beלִיlimyלְתַלְמִידִים׃le/tal/mi/DIMdisciples

   Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

9. 9

   כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאֲהֵבַנִיa/he/va/NIloved meהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherאָהַבְתִּיa/HAV/tiI have lovedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouגַּם־אָנִיgam-A/niI alsoוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youעִמְדוּim/DUcontinueבְאַהֲבָתִי׃ve/a/ha/va/TIin my love

   As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

10. 10

    אִם־תִּשְׁמְרוּim-tish/me/RUif you keepאֶת־מִצְוֹתַיet-mits/vo/TAYmy commandmentsתַּעַמְדוּta/am/DUyou will abideבְּאַהֲבָתִיbe/a/ha/va/TIin my loveכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasשָׁמַרְתִּיsha/MAR/tiI have keptגַם־אֲנִיgam-a/NII alsoאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandments ofאָבִיA/VImy Fatherוְעָמַדְתִּיve/a/mad/TIand abideבְּאַהֲבָתוֹ׃be/a/ha/va/TOin His love

    If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

11. 11

    אֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tihave I spokenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURso thatתִּשְׁכֹּןtish/KONmight remainשִׂמְחָתִיsim/cha/TImy joyבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youוְתִהְיֶהve/tih/YEand may beשִׂמְחַתְכֶםsim/chat/KHEMyour joyשְׁלֵמָה׃she/le/MAfull

    These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

    הִנֵּה־זֹאתhin/NE-zotbehold thisמִצְוָתִיmits/va/TImy commandmentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתֶּאֱהָבוּןte/e/ha/VUNyou loveאִישׁisheach manאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאֲהַבְתִּיכֶם׃a/hav/ti/KHEMI have loved you

    This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13. 13

    אֵיןenthere is noאַהֲבָהa/ha/VAloveרַבָּהrab/BAgreaterמֵאַהֲבַתme/a/ha/VATthan the love ofהַנּוֹתֵןhan/no/TENone who givesנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulבְּעַדbe/ADforיְדִידָיו׃ye/di/DAYVhis friends

    Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14. 14

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youאִם־תַּעֲשׂוּim-ta/a/SUif you doאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִיet-a/SHER-a/NIwhat Iמְצַוֶּהme/tsav/VEcommandאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouיְדִידַיye/di/DAYmy friendsאַתֶּם׃at/TEMare you

    Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15. 15

    לֹא־אֶקְרָאlo-ek/RAI do not callלָכֶםla/KHEMyouעוֹדodanymoreעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsכִּיkiforהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nudoes notיֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEdoesאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis lordוְאָמַרְתִּיve/a/mar/TIand I have saidיְדִידַיye/di/DAYfriendsאַתֶּםat/TEMare youכִּיkiforכׇל־אֲשֶׁרkhol-a/SHERall thatשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI have heardמֵאֵתme/ETfromאָבִיA/VImy Fatherהוֹדַעְתִּיho/DA/tiI have made known toאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

    Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16. 16

    לֹאlonotאַתֶּםat/TEMyouבְּחַרְתֶּםbe/char/TEMhave chosenבִּיbimeכִּיkibutאִםimonlyאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIבָּחַרְתִּיba/CHAR/tihave chosenבָכֶםva/KHEMyouוּמִנִּיתִיu/min/ni/TIand ordainedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand to produceפְּרִיpe/RIfruitוּפֶרְיְכֶםu/fer/ye/KHEMand your fruitיָקוּםya/KUMshould remainוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it will beכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתִּשְׁאֲלוּtish/a/LUyou will askמֵאֵתme/ETofהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameיִתֵּןyit/TENHe will giveלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17. 17

    אֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמְצַוֶּהme/tsav/VEcommandאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֶּאֱהָבוּןte/e/ha/VUNyou loveאִישׁisheach manאֶת־אָחִיו׃et-a/CHIVhis brother

    These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18. 18

    אִם־הָעוֹלָםim-ha/o/LAMif the worldשֹׂנֵאso/NEhatesאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouדְּעוּde/Uknowכִּיkithatאֹתִיo/TImeשָׂנֵאsa/NEit hatedלִפְנֵיכֶם׃lif/ne/KHEMbefore you

    If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19. 19

    אִלּוּil/LUifמִן־הָעוֹלָםmin-ha/o/LAMfrom the worldהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMyou wereהָיָהha/YAwouldהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldאֹהֵבo/HEVloveאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹet-a/SHER-lohis ownוְיַעַןve/YA/anand becauseכִּי־אֵינְכֶםki-e/ne/KHEMthat you are notמִן־הָעוֹלָםmin-ha/o/LAMfrom the worldכִּיkibutאִם־בָּחַרְתִּיim-ba/CHAR/tionly I choseאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִן־הָעוֹלָםmin-ha/o/LAMfrom the worldלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldיִשְׂנָאyis/NAhatesאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

    If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20. 20

    זִכְרוּzikh/RUrememberאֶת־דְּבָרִיet-de/va/RImy wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI saidאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotגָדוֹלga/DOLis greaterהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantמֵאֲדֹנָיוme/a/do/NAYVthan his lordאִם־רָדְפוּim-ra/de/FUif they have persecutedאֹתִיo/TImeגַּם־אֶתְכֶםgam-et/KHEMyou alsoיִרְדֹּפוּyir/DO/futhey will persecuteאִם־שָׁמְרוּim-sha/me/RUif they keptאֶת־דְּבָרִיet-de/va/RImy wordגַּםgamalsoאֶת־דְּבַרְכֶםet-de/var/KHEMyour wordיִשְׁמֹרוּ׃yish/MO/ruthey will keep

    Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21. 21

    אֲבָלa/VALbutכׇּל־זֹאתkol-zotall thisיַעֲשׂוּya/a/SUwill they doלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofשְׁמִיshe/MImy nameכִּיkibecauseלֹא־יָדְעוּlo-ya/de/Uthey do not knowאֶת־שֹׁלְחִי׃et-shol/CHIHim who sent me

    But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22. 22

    לוּלֵאlu/LEif notבָאתִיVA/tiI had comeוְדִבַּרְתִּיve/dib/bar/TIand spokenאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere would not beבָּהֶםba/HEMin themחֵטְאchetsinוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֵיןennoלָהֶםla/HEMthey haveכְּסוּתke/SUTcloakעַל־חַטָּאתָם׃al-chat/ta/TAMfor their sin

    If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

23. 23

    הַשֹּׂנֵאhas/so/NEwhoever hatesאֹתִיo/TImeיִשְׂנָאyis/NAhatesגַּם־אֶת־אָבִי׃gam-et-A/VIalso my Father

    He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

24. 24

    לוּלֵאlu/LEif notעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI had doneבְתוֹכָםve/to/KHAMamong themאֶת־הַמַּעֲשִׂיםet-ham/ma/a/SIMthe worksאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotעָשָׂהa/SAdidאִישׁisha manאַחֵרa/CHERotherלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere would not beבָהֶםva/HEMin themחֵטְאchetsinוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowרָאוּra/Uthey have seenוַיִּשְׂנְאוּvay/yis/ne/Uand hatedגַּם־אֹתִיgam-o/TIboth meגַּם־אֶת־אָבִי׃gam-et-A/VIand my Father

    If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25. 25

    אַךְakhbutזֹאתzotthisהָיְתָהha/ye/TAcomes to passלְמַלֹּאתle/mal/LOTthat might be fulfilledהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthat is writtenבְּתוֹרָתָםbe/to/ra/TAMin their lawשְׂנֵאוּנִיse/ne/U/nithey hated meחִנָּם׃chin/NAMwithout a cause

    But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26. 26

    וּבְבוֹאu/ve/VOand when comesהַמְּנַחֵםham/Me/na/CHEMthe Comforterאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאֶשְׁלַחesh/LACHI will sendלָכֶםla/KHEMto youמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאָבha/AVthe FatherרוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofהָאֱמֶתha/e/METtruthהַיּוֹצֵאhay/yo/TSEwho proceedsמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherהוּאhuheיָעִידya/IDwill testifyעָלָי׃a/LAYabout me

    But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

27. 27

    וְגַם־אַתֶּםve/GAM-at/TEMand you alsoתָּעִידוּta/i/DUshall bear witnessכִּיkibecauseמֵרֹאשׁme/ROSHfrom the beginningהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMyou have beenעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIwith me

    And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
