1. 1

   אַל־יִבָּהֵלLet not be troubled:לְבַבְכֶםyour heartהַאֲמִינוּyou believeבֵאלֹהִיםin God,וְגַםalsoבִּיin meהַאֲמִינוּ׃believe.

   Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2. 2

   בְּבֵיתIn house ofאָבִיmy Father'sמְדוֹרוֹתmansions:רַבִּיםare manyוְאִם־לֹאif notכֵןso,הָיִיתִיI would haveאוֹמֵרtoldלָכֶםyou.הִנְנִיIהֹלֵךְgoלְהָכִיןto prepareלָכֶםfor youמָקוֹם׃a place.

   In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3. 3

   וְהָיָהAnd ifכִּי־הָלָכְתִּיI goוַהֲכִינוֹתִיand prepareלָכֶםfor youמָקוֹםa place,שׁוֹבagain,אָשׁוּבI will comeוְלָקַחְתִּיand receiveאֶתְכֶםyouאֵלָיunto myself;לְמַעַןthatתִּהְיוּyou may beגַּם־אַתֶּםalso.בַּאֲשֶׁרwhereאֲנִיI am,שָׁם׃there

   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4. 4

   וִידַעְתֶּםAnd you knowאָנָהwhitherאֲנִיIהוֹלֵךְgo,וְאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְand the wayיְדַעְתֶּם׃you know.

   And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5. 5

   וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,תּוֹמָאThomasאֲדֹנִיLord,לֹאnotיָדַעְנוּwe knowאָנָהwhitherאַתָּהyouהֹלֵךְgoest;וְאֵיכָכָהand howנֵדַעcan we knowאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְ׃the way?

   Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6. 6

   וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאָנֹכִיI amהַדֶּרֶךְthe way,וְהָאֱמֶתthe truth,וְהַחַיִּיםand the life:לֹא־יָבֹאno man comethאִישׁa manאֶל־הָאָבunto the Father,בִּלְתִּיbutעַל־יָדִי׃by me.

   Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7. 7

   לוּ־יְדַעְתֶּםIf you had knownאֹתִיme,גַּםalso:אֶת־אָבִיmy Fatherיְדַעְתֶּםyou should have knownוּמֵעַתָּהand from henceforthיְדַעְתֶּםyou knowאֹתוֹhim,וְגַםandרְאִיתֶםhave seenאֹתוֹ׃him.

   If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,פִּילִפּוֹסPhilipאֲדֹנִיLord,הַרְאֵנוּshew usנָאwe pray,אֶת־הָאָבthe Father,וְדַיand it sufficethלָנוּ׃us.

   Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusזֶהthisכַּמָּהso longיָמִיםtimeאָנֹכִיHave I beenאִתְּכֶםwith you,וְאַתָּהand yet youפִילִפּוֹסPhilip?הֲטֶרֶםnotתֵּדָעֵנִיhast known me,הַרֹאֶהhe that hath seenאֹתִיmeרָאָהhath seenאֶת־הָאָבthe Father;וְלָמָּה־זֶּהand howתֹאמַרsay you then,הַרְאֵנוּShew usאֶת־הָאָב׃the Father?

   Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

10. 10

    הַאֵינְךָBelieve you notמַאֲמִיןbelievingכִּיthatאָנֹכִיI amבְאָבִיin the Father,וְאָבִיand the Fatherבִּיin me?הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsאֲשֶׁרthatאֲדַבֵּרI speakאֲלֵיכֶםunto youלֹא־מִנַּפְשִׁיnot of myself:אָנֹכִיIדֹבֵרspeakכִּיbutאָבִיthe Fatherהַשֹּׁכֵןthat dwellethבְּקִרְבִּיin me,הוּאheעֹשֶׂהdoethאֶת־הַמַּעֲשִׂים׃the works.

    Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11. 11

    הַאֲמִינוּBelieveלִיmeכִּי־אָנֹכִיthat I amבְאָבִיin the Father,וְאָבִיand the Fatherבִּיin me:וְאִם־לֹאor elseהַאֲמִינוּbelieveלִיmeבִּגְלַלfor the very sake.הַמַּעֲשִׂים׃works'

    Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

12. 12

    אָמֵןVerily,אָמֵןverily,אֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,הַמַּאֲמִיןHe that believethבִּיon me,יַעֲשֶׂהshall doגַם־הוּאalso;אֶת־הַמַּעֲשִׂיםthe worksאֲשֶׁרthatאָנֹכִיIעֹשֶׂהdoוּגְדֹלוֹתand greater worksמֵאֵלֶּהthan theseיַעֲשֶׂהshall he do;אֶל־אָבִי׃because I go unto my Father.

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13. 13

    וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרAnd whatsoeverתִּשְׁאֲלוּyou shall askבִּשְׁמִיin my name,אֶעֱשֶׂנּוּthat will I do,יְכֻבַּדmay be glorifiedהָאָבthe Fatherבִּבְנוֹ׃in the Son.

    And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14. 14

    כִּי־תִּשְׁאֲלוּIf you shall askדָבָרany thingבִּשְׁמִיin my name,אֲנִיIאֶעֱשֶׂנּוּ׃will do it.

    If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

15. 15

    אִם־אֲהַבְתֶּםIf you loveאֹתִיme,אֶת־מִצְוֹתַיmy commandments.תִּשְׁמֹרוּ׃keep

    If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16. 16

    וַאֲנִיAnd Iאֶשְׁאֲלָהwill prayמֵאָבִיthe Father,וְהוּאand heיִתֵּןshall giveלָכֶםyouפְּרַקְלִיטComforter,אַחֵרanotherאֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁכֹּןthat he may abideאִתְּכֶםwith youלָנֶצַח׃for ever;

    And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17. 17

    אֶת־רוּחַthe Spirit ofהָאֱמֶתtruth;אֲשֶׁרwhomלֹא־יָכֹלcannotהָעוֹלָםthe worldלְהַשִּׂיגוֹreceive,בַּאֲשֶׁרbecauseלֹאnot,יִרְאֵהוּit seeth himוְלֹאneitherיֵדָעֵהוּknoweth him:וְאַתֶּםbut youיְדַעְתֶּםknowאֹתוֹhim;כִּי־הוּאfor heשֹׁכֵןdwellethאִתְּכֶםwith you,וְיִהְיֶהand shall beבְּקִרְבְּכֶם׃in you.

    Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18. 18

    לֹאnotאֶעֱזָבְכֶםI will leave youיְתוֹמִיםcomfortless:אָבוֹאָהI will comeאֲלֵיכֶם׃to you.

    I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

19. 19

    עוֹדYet aמְעַטlittle while,וְהָעוֹלָםand the worldלֹאnoיוֹסִיףmore;לִרְאוֹתseethאֹתִיmeוְאַתֶּםbut youתִּרְאוּנִיsee me:כִּיbecauseחַיlive,אֲנִיIוְגַם־אַתֶּםyou alsoחָיֹהsurelyתִחְיוּ׃shall live.

    Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20. 20

    וְהָיָהAnd it shall beבַּיּוֹםdayהַהוּאthatיָדוּעַsurelyתֵּדְעוּyou shall knowכִּי־אֲנִיthat I amבְּאָבִיin my Father,וְאַתֶּםand youבִּיin me,וַאֲנִיand Iבָכֶם׃in you.

    At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

21. 21

    מִיHeאֲשֶׁרthat hathמִצְוֹתַיmy commandments,אִתּוֹwith himוַיִּשְׁמֹרand keepethאֹתָןthem,הוּאhe itאֲשֶׁרis thatאָהַבlovethאֹתִיme:וְאֹהֲבִיand he that loveth meאָהוּבshall be lovedלְאָבִיof my Father,וַאֲנִיand Iאֹהֲבֵהוּwill love him,וְאֵלָיוand to himאֶתְוַדָּע׃will manifest myself.

    He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,יְהוּדָהJudasוְהוּאandלֹאnotאִישׁofקְרִיּוֹתIscariot,אֲדֹנִיLord,מַה־לְּךָhow is itכִּיthatתַחְפֹּץyou willלְהִתְוַדַּעmanifest thyselfאֵלֵינוּunto us,וְלֹאand notלָעוֹלָם׃unto the world?

    Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23. 23

    וַיַּעַןansweredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוunto him,אִישׁa manכִּיIfיֶאֱהָבַנִיlove me,יִשְׁמֹרhe will keepאֶת־דְּבָרִיmy words:וְאָבִיand my Fatherיֶאֱהַבwill loveאֹתוֹhim,וְנָבוֹאָהand we will comeאֵלָיוunto him,וְנָשִׂיםand makeמְעוֹנָתֵנוּour abodeאֶצְלוֹ׃with him.

    Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24. 24

    וַאֲשֶׁרHe thatלֹאnotיֶאֱהָבַנִיloveth meהוּאheלֹאnotיִשְׁמֹרkeepethאֶת־דְּבָרִיmy sayings:וְהַדָּבָרand the wordאֲשֶׁרwhichשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou hearלֹא־שֶׁלִּיis not mine,הוּאheכִּיbutאִם־שֶׁל־אָבִיthe Father'sאֲשֶׁרwhichשְׁלָחָנִי׃sent me.

    He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

25. 25

    אֶת־אֵלֶּהThese thingsדִּבַּרְתִּיhave I spokenאֲלֵיכֶםunto you,בְּעוֹדbeing yetהֱיוֹתִיpresentעִמָּכֶם׃with you.

    These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26. 26

    וְהַפְּרַקְלִיטBut the Comforter,רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe Holy Ghost,אֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁלַחwhom will sendאָבִיthe Fatherבִּשְׁמִיin my name,הוּאheיְלַמֶּדְכֶםshall teach youאֶת־כֹּלall things,וְיַזְכִּירand bring to your remembranceאֶת־כֹּלall thingsאֲשֶׁר־הִגַּדְתִּיwhatsoever I have saidלָכֶם׃unto you.

    But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

27. 27

    שָׁלוֹםPeaceאַנִּיחַI leaveלָכֶםwith you,אֶת־שְׁלוֹמִיmy peaceאֶתֵּןI giveלָכֶםunto you:לֹאnotכַּאֲשֶׁרasיִתֵּןgiveth,הָעוֹלָםthe worldאָנֹכִיIנֹתֵןgiveלָכֶםunto you.אַל־יִבָּהֵלLet not be troubled,לְבַבְכֶםyour heartוְאַל־יֵחָת׃neither let it be afraid.

    Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28. 28

    הֲלֹאnotשְׁמַעְתֶּםYou have heardכִּיhowאָמַרְתִּיI saidאֲלֵיכֶםunto you,אֵלֵךְI go away,וְאָשׁוּבָהand come againאֲלֵיכֶםunto you.לוּIfאֲהַבְתֶּםyou lovedאֹתִיme,כִּי־עַתָּהthenתִשְׂמְחוּyou would rejoice,בְּהַגִּידִיbecause I said,לָכֶםunto youכִּי־הֹלֵךְI goאֲנִיIאֶל־הָאָבunto the Father:כִּיforאָבִיmy Fatherגָּדוֹלis greaterמִמֶּנִּי׃than I.

    Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

29. 29

    וְעַתָּהAnd nowהִנֵּהbehold,הִגַּדְתִּיI have toldזֹאתthisלָכֶםyouבְּטֶרֶםbeforeהֱיוֹתָהּit come to pass,לְמַעַןthat,תָּבֹאwhen it is come to pass,וְתַאֲמִינוּ׃you might believe.

    And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

30. 30

    לֹא־אַרְבֶּהI will not muchעוֹדHereafterאֲמָרִיםtalkעִמָּכֶםwith you:כִּיforהִנֵּהbehold,בָאcometh,שַׂרthe princeהָעוֹלָםworldהַזֵּהof thisוּבִיand in meאֵין־לוֹhath nothingכֹל׃at all.

    Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

31. 31

    אַךְBut thatלְמַעַןthatיֵדַעmay knowהָעוֹלָםthe worldכִּיthatאֹהֵבloveאֲנִיIאֶת־אָבִיthe Father;וְכַאֲשֶׁרand asצִוַּנִּיgave me commandment,אָבִיthe Fatherכֵּןeven soאֶעֱשֶׂהI do.קוּמוּArise,וְנֵלְכָהlet us goמִזֶּה׃hence.

    But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
