   Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen was endedסְעוּדַתse/u/DATthe meal ofהָעֶרֶבha/E/revthe eveningוְהַשָּׂטָןve/has/Sa/TANand Satanנָתַןna/TANhad putבְּלֵבbe/LEVinto the heart ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudasבֶן־שִׁמְעוֹןven-Shim/ONson of Simonאִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹתIsh-ke/riy/YOTIscariotלְמָסְרוֹ׃le/ma/se/ROto deliver him

   And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

   וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusכִּיkithatנָתַןna/TANhad givenאָבִיוA/VIVhis Fatherאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLallבְּיָדָיוbe/ya/DAYVinto his handsוְכִיve/KHIand thatמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבָּאbahe had comeוְאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםve/EL-e/lo/HIMand to Godיָשׁוּב׃ya/SHUVhe was returning

   Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he roseמֵעַלme/ALfromהַשֻּׁלְחָןhash/shul/CHANthe tableוַיִּפְשַׁטvay/yif/SHATand took offאֶת־בְּגָדָיוet-be/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookמִטְפַּחַתmit/PA/chata towelוַיַּחְגְּרֶהָ׃vay/yach/ge/RE/haand girded it on

   He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

   וְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterיָצַקya/TSAKhe pouredמַיִםMA/yimwaterבַּכִּיּוֹרbak/kiy/YORinto the basinוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלִרְחֹץlir/CHOTSto washאֶת־רַגְלֵיet-rag/LEthe feet ofתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוּלְנַגֵּבu/le/nag/GEVand to wipeבַּמִּטְפַּחַתbam/mit/PA/chatwith the towelאֲשֶׁר־הוּאa/SHER-huthat heחָגוּרcha/GURwas girdedבָּהּ׃bawith it

   After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

   וַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand he came nearאֶל־שִׁמְעוֹןel-Shim/ONto SimonפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוְהוּאve/HUand heאָמַרa/MARsaidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordהַאַתָּהha/at/TAdo youתִּרְחַץtir/CHATSwashאֶת־רַגְלָי׃et-rag/LAYmy feet

   Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatאֲנִיa/NIIעֹשֶׂהo/SEam doingאֵינְךָe/ne/KHAyou do notיֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowכָּעֵתka/ETnowוְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןve/a/cha/RE-khenand after thisתֵּדָע׃te/DAyou will know

   Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterלֹא־תִרְחַץlo-tir/CHATSyou will not washאֶת־רַגְלַיet-rag/LAYmy feetלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMeverוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredאֹתוֹo/TOhimיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאִם־לֹאim-loif notאֶרְחַץer/CHATSI washאֹתְךָot/KHAyouאֵיןenthere is noלְךָle/KHAto youחֵלֶקCHE/lekpartעִמִּי׃im/MIwith me

   Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

   Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמְרֻחָץham/ru/CHATSwhoever is washedאֵין־לוֹen-lohas no needלִרְחֹץlir/CHOTSto washעוֹדodmoreכִּיkiexceptאִם־אֶת־רַגְלָיוim-et-rag/LAYVonly his feetכִּיkiforכֻלּוֹkhul/LOall of himטָהוֹרta/HORcleanהוּאhuisוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youטְהוֹרִיםte/ho/RIMare cleanאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotכֻלְּכֶם׃khul/le/KHEMall of you

    Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

    כִּיkiforיָדַעya/DAhe knewמִיmiwhoיִמְסְרֵהוּyim/se/re/HUwould betray himעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאָמַרa/MARhe saidלֹאlonotכֻלְּכֶםkhul/le/KHEMall of youטְהוֹרִים׃te/ho/RIMclean

    For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֲשֶׁר־רָחַץa/SHER-ra/CHATShe had washedאֶת־רַגְלֵיהֶםet-rag/le/HEMtheir feetוַיִּלְבַּשׁvay/yil/BASHand put onאֶת־בְּגָדָיוet-be/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand returnedלְהָסֵבle/ha/SEVto reclineוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַיְדַעְתֶּםhay/da/TEMdo you knowמָהmawhatהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

    אַתֶּםat/TEMyouקֹרְאִים־לִיkor/IM-licall meמוֹרֶהmo/REteacherוְאָדוֹןve/a/DONand Lordוְהֵיטַבְתֶּםve/he/tav/TEMand you do wellאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבַּרְתֶּםdib/bar/TEMyou have saidכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIfor Iהוּא׃huam

    Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

14. 14

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־אֲנִיim-a/NIif Iהַמּוֹרֶהham/mo/REthe teacherוְהָאָדוֹןve/ha/a/DONand the Lordרָחַצְתִּיra/CHATS/tihave washedאֶת־רַגְלֵיכֶםet-rag/le/KHEMyour feetגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoחַיָּבִיםchay/ya/VIMare obligatedלִרְחֹץlir/CHOTSto washאִישׁisheach manאֶת־רַגְלֵיet-rag/LEthe feet ofאָחִיו׃a/CHIVhis brother

    If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

15. 15

    כִּיkiforמוֹפֵתmo/FETan exampleנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI have givenלָכֶםla/KHEMyouלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתַּעֲשׂוּta/a/SUyou may doגַם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

16. 16

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֵיןennotהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantגָּדוֹלga/DOLis greaterמֵאֲדֹנָיוme/a/do/NAYVthan his lordוְאֵיןve/ENand notהַשָּׁלִיחַhash/sha/LI/achthe one sentגָּדוֹלga/DOLis greaterמִשֹּׁלְחוֹ׃mish/shol/CHOthan the one who sent him

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

17. 17

    אִם־יְדַעְתֶּםim-ye/da/TEMif you knowזֹאתzotthisאַשְׁרֵיכֶםash/re/KHEMblessed are youבַּעֲשׂוֹתְכֶםba/a/sot/KHEMin your doingכֵּן׃kenso

    If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

18. 18

    לֹאlonotעַל־כֻּלְּכֶםal-kul/le/KHEMabout all of youדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI speakיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowאֲנִיa/NIIאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthose whomבָּחַרְתִּיba/CHAR/tiI have chosenבָהֶםva/HEMamong themאַךְakhbutלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִמָּלֵאyim/MA/lemay be fulfilledהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthe scriptureאוֹכֵלo/KHELhe who eatsלַחְמִיlach/MImy breadהִגְדִּילhig/DILhas made greatעָלַיa/LAYagainst meעָקֵב׃a/KEVthe heel

    I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

19. 19

    מֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom nowאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeהֱיוֹתָהּhe/yo/TAit happensלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatכִּי־תָבֹאki-ta/VOwhen it comesוְהֶאֱמַנְתֶּםve/he/e/man/TEMyou may believeכִּיkithatאֲנִיa/NIIהוּא׃huam he

    Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

20. 20

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatכׇל־הַמְקַבֵּלkhol-ham/kab/BELwhoever receivesאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhomאֶשְׁלָחֵהוּesh/la/che/HUI sendאֹתִיo/TImeמְקַבֵּלme/kab/BELreceivesוְהַמְקַבֵּלve/ham/kab/BELand whoever receivesאֹתִיo/TImeמְקַבֵּלme/kab/BELreceivesאֶת־שֹׁלְחִי׃et-shol/CHIHim who sent me

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen finishedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּבָּהֵלvay/yib/ba/HELand he was troubledבְּרוּחוֹbe/ru/CHOin spiritוַיָּעַדvay/YA/adand testifiedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָמֵןa/MENamenאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youיִמְסְרֵנִי׃yim/se/re/NIwill deliver me

    When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

22. 22

    וַיַּבִּיטוּvay/yab/BI/tuand lookedתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand wonderedאִישׁisheach manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huat his neighborכִּיkiforנָבוֹכוּna/vo/KHUthey were perplexedוְלֹאve/LOand notיָדְעוּya/de/Udid they knowעַל־מִיal-miabout whomדִבֵּר׃dib/BERhe spoke

    Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

23. 23

    וְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneמִתַּלְמִידָיוmit/tal/mi/DAYVof his disciplesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֲהֵבוֹa/he/VOlovedמֵסֵבme/SEVwas recliningעַל־חֵיקal-chekon the bosom ofיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

24. 24

    וַיִּרְמָז־לוֹvay/yir/MAZ-loand signaled to himשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterלִדְרֹשׁlid/ROSHto inquireמִי־הוּאmi-huwho isזֶהzethisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe spokeעָלָיו׃a/LAYVabout him

    Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

25. 25

    וַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand he fellעַל־לֵבal-levon the heart ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordמִיmiwhoהוּא׃huis it

    He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

26. 26

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdזֶהzethisהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁר־אֶטְבֹּלa/SHER-et/BOLfor whom I dipפְּרוּסָתִיpe/ru/sa/TIa sopלְתִתָּהּle/tit/TAto give itלוֹloto himוַיִּטְבֹּלvay/yit/BOLand he dippedאֶת־פְּרוּסָתוֹet-pe/ru/sa/TOthe sopוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveאֶל־יְהוּדָהel-Ye/hu/DAto Judasבֶן־שִׁמְעוֹןven-Shim/ONson of Simonאִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹת׃Ish-ke/riy/YOTIscariot

    Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterהַפְּרוּסָהhap/pe/ru/SAthe sopבָּאbaenteredהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanאֶל־קִרְבּוֹel-kir/BOinto his inward partוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־תַּעֲשֶׂהet-a/SHER-ta/a/SEwhat you doעֲשֵׂהa/SEdoמְהֵרָה׃me/he/RAquickly

    And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

28. 28

    וּמִן־הַמְסֻבִּיםu/MIN-ham/sub/BIMand of those recliningלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAdid not knowאִישׁisha manעַל־מֶהal-mefor whatדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכָּזֹאת׃ka/ZOTthis

    Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

29. 29

    כִּיkiforיֵשׁyeshthere wereאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoחָשְׁבוּcha/she/VUthoughtכִּי־אָמַרki-a/MARthat saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusקְנֵה־לָנוּke/NE-LA/nubuy for usצׇרְכֵיtsor/KHEthe needs ofהֶחָגhe/CHAGthe feastאוֹoorלָתֵתla/TETto giveלָאֶבְיוֹנִיםla/ev/yo/NIMto the needyיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatכִּיסkisthe purse ofהַכֶּסֶףhak/KE/sefthe moneyבְּיַדbe/YADwas in the hand ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudas

    For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

30. 30

    וְהוּאve/HUand heבְּקַחְתּוֹbe/kach/TOwhen he tookאֶת־פְּרוּסַתet-pe/ru/SATthe morsel ofהַלֶּחֶםhal/LE/chemthe breadמִהֵרmi/HERhurriedלָצֵאתla/TSETto go outהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideוְלַיְלָהve/LAY/laand nightהָיָה׃ha/YAit was

    He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

31. 31

    הוּאhuheיָצָאya/TSAwent outוְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/aand Jesusאָמַרa/MARsaidעַתָּהat/TAnowנִתְפָּאַרnit/pa/ARis glorifiedבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manוְהָאֱלֹהִיםve/ha/e/lo/HIMand Godנִתְפָּאַרnit/pa/ARis glorifiedבּוֹ׃boin him

    Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

32. 32

    הֵןhenifהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodנִתְפָּאַרnit/pa/ARis glorifiedבּוֹboin himוְגַםve/GAMalsoיְפָאֲרֶנּוּye/fa/a/ren/NUwill glorify himהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבְּעַצְמוֹbe/ats/MOin Himselfוּבִמְהֵרָהu/vim/he/RAand quicklyיְפָאֲרֵהוּ׃ye/fa/a/re/HUwill He glorify him

    If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

    בָּנַיba/NAYlittle childrenעוֹד־מְעַטod-me/ATyet a littleמִזְעָרmiz/ARvery littleאֶהְיֶהeh/YEI will beעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youאַתֶּםat/TEMyouתְּבַקְשׁוּנִיte/vak/shu/NIwill seek meוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidאֶל־הַיְּהוּדִיםel-Hay/ye/hu/DIMto the Jewsכִּיkithatאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERto whereאֲנִיa/NIIהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHam goingלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUcan youלָבוֹאla/VOcomeשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereכֵּןkensoאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youעָתָּה׃AT/tanow

    Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

    מִצְוָהmits/VAa commandmentחֲדָשָׁהcha/da/SHAnewאֲנִיa/NIIנֹתֵןno/TENgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתְּאֵהֲבוּte/e/ha/VUyou loveאִישׁisheach manאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָהַבְתִּיa/HAV/tiI have lovedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכֵּןkensoגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoאִישׁisheach manאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherתֶּאֱהָבוּן׃te/e/ha/VUNwill love

    A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35. 35

    בָּזֹאתba/ZOTby thisיֵדְעוּyed/Uwill knowכֻּלָּםkul/LAMallכִּיkithatתַלְמִידִיםtal/mi/DIMdisciplesאַתֶּםat/TEMare youלִיliof mineאִם־תִּשְׁכֹּןim-tish/KONif dwellsאַהֲבָהa/ha/VAloveבֵּינֵיכֶם׃be/ne/KHEMamong you

    By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

    Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
