   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

   The same was in the beginning with God.

   In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

   וְהָאוֹרve/ha/ORand the lightהֵאִירhe/IRshoneבַּחֹשֶׁךְba/CHO/shekhin darknessוְהַחֹשֶׁךְve/ha/CHO/shekhand the darknessלֹאlonotהִשִּׂיגוֹ׃his/si/GOcomprehended it

   And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasאִישׁisha manשָׁלוּחַsha/LU/achsentמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameיוֹחָנָן׃Yo/cha/NANJohn

   There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

   הוּאhuheבָאvacameלְעֵדוּתle/e/DUTfor a witnessלְהָעִידle/ha/IDto bear witnessעַל־הָאוֹרal-ha/ORabout the lightלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיַאֲמִינוּya/a/MI/nuwould believeכֻלָּםkhul/LAMallעַל־יָדוֹ׃al-ya/DOthrough him

   The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

   הוּאhuheלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAwas notהָאוֹרha/ORthe lightכִּיkibutאִםimonlyלְהָעִידle/ha/IDto bear witnessעַל־הָאוֹר׃al-ha/ORabout the light

   He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

   הוּאhuthatהָיָהha/YAwasהָאוֹרha/ORthe lightהָאֲמִתִּיha/a/mit/TItrueהַמֵּאִירham/ME/irthat gives lightלְכׇל־אָדָםle/KHOL-a/DAMevery manהַבָּאhab/BAthat comesלָעוֹלָם׃la/o/LAMinto the world

   That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

    בָּעוֹלָםba/o/LAMin the worldהָיָהha/YAhe wasוְעַל־יָדוֹve/AL-ya/DOand by himנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAwas madeהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldוְהָעוֹלָםve/ha/o/LAMand the worldלֹאlonotיְדָעוֹ׃ye/da/Oknew him

    He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

    הוּאhuheבָאvacameאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERunto that which wasלוֹlohis ownוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand those which wereלוֹlohis ownלֹאlonotקִבְּלֻהוּ׃kib/be/lu/HUreceived him

    He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand allהַמְקַבְּלִיםham/kab/be/LIMwho receivedאֹתוֹo/TOhimלָהֶםla/HEMto themנָתַןna/TANhe gaveכֹּחַKO/achpowerלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto becomeבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodגַּםgamevenלַמַּאֲמִינִיםlam/ma/a/mi/NIMto those who believeבִּשְׁמוֹ׃bish/MOon his name

    But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotמִדָּםmid/DAMof bloodוְלֹאve/LOand notמֵחֵפֶץme/CHE/fetsfrom the will ofהַבָּשָׂרhab/ba/SARthe fleshאַףafandלֹא־מֵחֵפֶץlo-me/CHE/fetsnot from the will ofגֶּבֶרGE/vermanנוֹלָדוּno/la/DUwere bornכִּיkibutאִם־מֵאֱלֹהִים׃im-me/e/lo/HIMonly from God

    Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

    וְהַדָּבָרve/had/Da/VARand the Wordנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAwas madeבָשָׂרva/SARfleshוַיִּשְׁכֹּןvay/yish/KONand dweltבְּתוֹכֵנוּbe/to/KHE/nuamong usוַנֶּחֱזֶהvan/ne/che/ZEand we beheldכְבוֹדוֹkhe/vo/DOhis gloryכִּכְבוֹדkikh/VODlike the glory ofיְחִידye/CHIDthe only begottenמֵאֵתme/ETofהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherמָלֵאma/LEfull ofחֶסֶדCHE/sedgraceוֶאֱמֶת׃ve/e/METand truth

    And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    וְיוֹחָנָןve/Yo/cha/NANand Johnהֵעִידhe/IDtestifiedעָלָיוa/LAYVabout himוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand called outלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdזֶהzethisהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whomאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI spokeהַבָּאhab/BAhe that comesאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter meהָיָהha/YAwasלְפָנָיle/fa/NAYbefore meכִּיkiforקֹדֶם־לִיKO/dem-libefore meהָיָה׃ha/YAhe was

    John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

16. 16

    וּמִמְּלוֹאוֹu/mim/me/lo/Oand from his fullnessלָקַחְנוּla/KACH/nuwe receivedכֻלָּנוּkhul/LA/nuall of usחֶסֶדCHE/sedgraceעַל־חָסֶד׃al-CHA/sedfor grace

    And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17. 17

    כִּיkiforהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAwas givenבְּיַד־מֹשֶׁהbe/YAD-mo/SHEby Mosesוְהַחֶסֶדve/ha/CHE/sedand graceוְהָאֱמֶתve/ha/e/METand the truthבָּאוּBA/ucameעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

    אֵת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodלֹא־רָאָהlo-ra/Ahas not seenאִישׁisha manמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverהַבֵּןhab/BENthe Sonהַיָּחִידhay/ya/CHIDthe only begottenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho isבְּחֵיקbe/CHEKin the bosom ofהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherהוּאhuheהוֹדִיעַ׃ho/DI/ahas made known

    No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

    וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisעֵדוּתe/DUTis the testimony ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnבִּשְׁלֹחַbish/LO/achwhen sentהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsוּלְוִיִּםu/Le/viy/YIMand LevitesמִירוּשָׁלָיִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto askאֹתוֹo/TOhimמִיmiwhoאָתָּה׃AT/taare you

    And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20. 20

    וְהוּאve/HUand heהוֹדָהho/DAconfessedוְלֹאve/LOand notכִחֵשׁkhi/CHESHdid he denyוַיּוֹדֶהvay/yo/DEand he confessedלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahאָנִי׃A/niam I

    And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוּמִיu/MIand whoאָתָּהAT/taare youהַאֵלִיָּסha/E/liy/YASare EliasאָתָּהAT/tayouוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵינֶנִּיe/NEN/niI am notהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredלֹא׃lono

    And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמִי־זֶהmi-zewhoאָתָּהAT/taare youלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatנָשִׁיבna/SHIVwe may returnאֶת־שֹׁלְחֵינוּet-shol/che/NUto those who sent usדָּבָרda/VARa wordמַה־תֹּאמַרma-to/MARwhat do you sayלְנַפְשֶׁךָ׃le/naf/SHE/khaabout yourself

    Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲנִיa/NII amקוֹלkola voiceקוֹרֵאko/REcryingבַמִּדְבָּרvam/mid/BARin the wildernessפַּנּוּpan/NUclearדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַרa/MARsaidיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huEsaiasהַנָּבִיא׃han/na/VIthe prophet

    He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

24. 24

    וְהַשְּׁלוּחִיםve/hash/she/lu/CHIMand those sentבָּאוּBA/uhad comeמִן־הַפְּרוּשִׁים׃min-Hap/pe/ru/SHIMof the Pharisees

    And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25. 25

    וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּvay/yish/a/lu/HUand they asked himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyאֵפוֹאe/FOthenמַטְבִּילmat/BILare baptizingאָתָּהAT/tayouאִם־אֵינְךָim-e/ne/KHAif you are notהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahוְלֹאve/LOand notאֵלִיָּסE/liy/YASEliasוְלֹאve/LOand notהַנָּבִיא׃han/na/VIthe prophet

    And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

26. 26

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredאֹתָםo/TAMthemיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמַטְבִּילmat/BILbaptizeבַּמָּיִםbam/MA/yimwith waterוּבְתוֹכֲכֶםu/ve/to/kha/KHEMand among youעוֹמֵדo/MEDis standingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERone whomלֹאlonotיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMdo you knowאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27. 27

    הוּאhuheהַבָּאhab/BAwho comesאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter meאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAwasלְפָנָיle/fa/NAYbefore meוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iנְקַלֹּתִיne/kal/lo/TIam too slightמֵהַתִּירme/hat/TIRto untieשְׂרוֹךְse/ROKHthe strap ofנְעָלָיו׃ne/a/LAYVhis sandals

    He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28. 28

    וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasבְּבֵית־עֲבָרָהbe/VET-a/va/RAin Bethabaraמֵעֵבֶרme/E/verbeyondלַיַּרְדֵּןlay/Yar/DENthe Jordanאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnמַטְבִּילmat/BILwas baptizingשָׁם׃shamthere

    These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusבָּאbacomingאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשֵׂהSethe Lamb ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהַנֹּשֵׂאhan/no/SEwho takes awayחַטַּאתchat/TATthe sin ofהָעוֹלָם׃ha/o/LAMthe world

    The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

    זֶהzethisהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whomאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter meיָבֹאya/VOcomesאִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAwasלְפָנָיle/fa/NAYbefore meכִּיkiforקֹדֶם־לִיKO/dem-libefore meהָיָה׃ha/YAhe was

    This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31. 31

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iלֹאlonotיְדַעְתִּיוye/da/TIVdid I know himכִּיkibutאִםimonlyבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURso thatיִגָּלֶהyig/ga/LEhe would be revealedבְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELto IsraelבָּאתִיBA/tiI cameאֲנִיa/NIIלִטְבֹּלlit/BOLbaptizingבַּמָּיִם׃bam/MA/yimwith water

    And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32. 32

    וַיָּעַדvay/YA/adand testifiedיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidחָזִיתִיcha/ZI/tiI beheldהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritכִּדְמוּתkid/MUTlike the likeness ofיוֹנָהyo/NAa doveיֹרֶדֶתyo/RE/detdescendingמִשָּׁמַיִםmish/sha/MA/yimfrom heavenוַתָּנַחvat/TA/nachand it restedעָלָיו׃a/LAYVupon him

    And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33. 33

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iלֹאlonotיְדַעְתִּיוye/da/TIVdid I know himוְהַשֹּׁלֵחַve/hash/sho/LE/achbut he who sentאֹתִיo/TImeלִטְבֹּלlit/BOLto baptizeבַּמַּיִםbam/MA/yimwith waterהוּאhuheאָמַרa/MARsaidאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־תִּרְאֶהet-a/SHER-tir/Eon whom you seeהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritיֹרֶדֶתyo/RE/detdescendingוְנָחָהve/na/CHAand restingעָלָיוa/LAYVon himהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdזֶהzethisהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיִטְבֹּלyit/BOLbaptizesבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃be/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshwith the Holy Spirit

    And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iרָאִיתִיra/I/tisawוָאָעִידָהva/a/I/daand I have testifiedכִּיkithatזֶהzethisהוּאhuisבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים׃ben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of God

    And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayוַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODstoodוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand with himשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoמִתַּלְמִידָיו׃mit/tal/mi/DAYVof his disciples

    Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

36. 36

    וַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand he lookedאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַel-Ye/SHU/aat Jesusוְהוּאve/HUas heמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHwalkedוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשֵׂהSethe Lamb ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

37. 37

    וּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand the twoתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uheardאֶת־דְּבָרוֹet-de/va/ROhis wordוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38. 38

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVbehind himוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֹתָםo/TAMthemהֹלְכִיםhol/KHIMwalkingאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמַה־תְּבַקֵּשׁוּma-te/vak/ke/SHUwhat do you seekוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichפֵּרוּשׁוֹpe/ru/SHObeing interpreted isמוֹרֶהMo/REMasterאֵיפֹהe/FOwhereתָלִין׃ta/LINare you lodging

    Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themבֹּאוּBO/ucomeוּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand sawאֶת־מְקוֹםet-me/KOMthe place ofמְלוֹנוֹme/lo/NOhis lodgingוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand they stayedעִמּוֹim/MOwith himבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatוְהָעֵתve/ha/ETand the time wasכַּשָּׁעָהkash/sha/Aabout the hourהָעֲשִׂירִית׃ha/a/si/RITthe tenth

    He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

    וְאַנְדְּרַיve/An/de/RAYand Andrewאֲחִיa/CHIthe brother ofשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterהָיָהha/YAwasאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִן־הַשְּׁנָיִםmin-hash/she/NA/yimof the twoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uheardמֵאֵתme/ETfromיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

    הוּאhuheמָצָאma/TSAfoundרִאשׁוֹנָהri/sho/NAfirstאֵת־שִׁמְעוֹןet-Shim/ONSimonאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמָצָאנוּma/TSA/nuwe have foundאֶת־הַמָּשִׁיחַ׃et-Ham/ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

    And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

    The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

    וּפִילִפּוֹסu/Fi/lip/POSand Philipמִבֵּית־צָיְדָהmib/BET-tsa/ye/DAwas from Bethsaidaעִירirthe city ofאַנְדְּרַיAn/de/RAYAndrewוּפֶטְרוֹס׃u/Fet/ROSand Peter

    Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

    וַיִּפְגַּעvay/yif/GAand metפִּילִפּוֹסPi/lip/POSPhilipאֶת־נְתַנְאֵלet-Ne/tan/ELNathanaelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמָצָאנוּma/TSA/nuwe have foundאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERhim whomכָּתַבka/TAVwroteמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesבְּסֵפֶרbe/SE/ferin the book ofהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawוְהַנְּבִיאִיםve/han/ne/vi/IMand the prophetsאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusבֶּן־יוֹסֵףben-Yo/SEFthe son of Josephמִנְּצָרֶת׃min/Ne/TSA/retof Nazareth

    Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himנְתַנְאֵלNe/tan/ELNathanaelהֲמִנְּצֶרֶתHa/min/ne/TSE/retcan from Nazarethיֵצֵאye/TSEcomeטוֹבtovgoodוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבֹּאbocomeוּרְאֵה׃u/re/Eand see

    And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶת־נְתַנְאֵלet-Ne/tan/ELNathanaelבָּאbacomingלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOtoward himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעָלָיוa/LAYVabout himהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבֶאֱמֶתve/e/METin truthבֶּן־יִשְׂרָאֵלben-Yis/ra/ELa son of Israelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵין־בּוֹen-bohas noרְמִיָּה׃re/miy/YAdeceit

    Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himנְתַנְאֵלNe/tan/ELNathanaelאֵיךְekhhowיְדַעְתָּנִיye/da/TA/nido you know meוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeקָרָאka/RAcalledלְךָle/KHAyouפִּילִפּוֹסPi/lip/POSPhilipוְאַתָּהve/at/TAwhile you wereתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַתְּאֵנָהhat/te/e/NAthe fig treeאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIרְאִיתִיךָ׃re/i/TI/khasaw you

    Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredנְתַנְאֵלNe/tan/ELNathanaelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiאַתָּהat/TAyouבֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםben-E/lo/HIMthe Son of Godאַתָּהat/TAyouהוּאhuareמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִגַּדְתִּיhig/GAD/tiI toldלְךָle/KHAto youכִּי־תַחַתki-TA/chatthat underהַתְּאֵנָהhat/te/e/NAthe fig treeרְאִיתִיךָre/i/TI/khaI saw youהֶאֱמַנְתָּhe/e/man/TAyou believeהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdגְּדֹלוֹתge/do/LOTgreater thingsמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/lethan theseתִּרְאֶה׃tir/Eyou will see

    Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

51. 51

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאָמֵןa/MENamenאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom now onתִרְאוּtir/Uyou will seeהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensנִפְתָּחִיםnif/ta/CHIMopenedוּמַלְאֲכֵיu/mal/a/KHEand the angels ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעֹלִיםo/LIMascendingוְיֹרְדִיםve/yor/DIMand descendingעַלaluponבֶּן־הָאָדָם׃ben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of man

    And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
