1. 1

   הוֹיOהָעֲשִׁירִיםyou-rich-menבְּכוּweepוְהֵילִילוּand-howlעַל־הַצָּרוֹתfor-the-miseriesאֲשֶׁרwhichתָּבֹאנָהshall-comeעֲלֵיכֶם׃over-you

   Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2. 2

   עׇשְׁרְכֶםyour-richesבָּלָהare-corruptedוּבִגְדֵיכֶםand-your-garmentsאֲכָלָםare-motheatenעָשׁ׃moth

   Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

   זְהַבְכֶםyour-goldוְכַסְפְּכֶםand-silverכִּסָּתַםis-cankeredחֶלְאָהrustוְהָיְתָהand-shall-beחֶלְאָתָםthe-rust-of-themבָּכֶםagainst-youלְעֵדוּתa-witnessוְאׇכְלָהand-shall-eatכְּמוֹ־אֵשׁas-fireאֶת־בְּשַׂרְכֶםyour-fleshזֶהthisהוּאisהָאוֹצָרtreasureאֲצַרְתֶּםyou-have-heaped-togetherלָכֶםfor-yourselvesלְקֵץfor-the-last-ofהַיָּמִים׃the-days

   Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

   הִנֵּהbeholdשְׂכַרthe-hire-ofהַפֹּעֲלִיםthe-laborersאֹסְפֵיwho-have-reapedקְצִירdownשְׂדֹתֵיכֶםyour-fieldsאֲשֶׁרwhichעֲשַׁקְתֶּםyou-kept-back-by-fraudצֹעֵקcriethעֲלֵיכֶםagainst-youוְצַעֲקַתand-the-cries-ofהַקּוֹצְרִיםthem-which-have-reapedבָּאָהare-enteredבְאׇזְנֵיinto-the-ears-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordצְבָאוֹת׃of-sabaoth

   Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

   הִתְעַדַּנְתֶּםyou-have-lived-in-pleasureבָּאָרֶץon-the-earthוְהִתְעַנַּגְתֶּםand-been-wantonוְהִשְׁמַנְתֶּםyou-have-nourishedאֶת־לִבְּכֶםyour-heartsכְּמוֹas-inלְיוֹםa-day-ofטִבְחָה׃slaughter

   Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

6. 6

   הִרְשַׁעְתֶּםyou-have-condemnedוַהֲמִתֶּםand-killedאֶת־הַצַּדִּיקthe-justוְהוּאand-heנַעֲנֶהwas-afflictedלֹא־יִפְתַּחhe-openeth-notפִּיו׃his-mouth

   Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

   לָכֵןthereforeאַחַיmy-brothersדֹּמּוּbe-patientוְהוֹחִילוּthereforeעַד־בּוֹאunto-the-coming-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordהִנֵּהbeholdהָאִכָּרthe-husbandmanמְחַכֶּהwaitethלְטוּבfor-the-precious-fruit-ofתְּבוּאַתthe-fruit-ofהָאֲדָמָהthe-earthוּמְיַחֵלand-hath-long-patienceכִּי־יֵרֵדuntil-he-receiveעָלֶיהָupon-itגֶּשֶׁםthe-rainיוֹרֶהearlyוּמַלְקוֹשׁ׃and-latter

   Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

   כֵּןthusהוֹחִילוּbe-patientגַם־אַתֶּםalso-youוְאַמְּצוּstablishלְבַבְכֶםyour-heartsכִּיforקָרוֹבdraweth-nighהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordלָבֹא׃the-coming-of

   Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

9. 9

   אֶחָיbrothers-myאַל־תִּתְאוֹנֲנוּgrudge-notאִישׁoneעַל־רֵעֵהוּagainst-anotherפֶּן־תִּשָּׁפֵטוּlest-you-be-condemnedהִנֵּהbeholdהַדַּיָּןthe-judgeעֹמֵדstandethבַּפָּתַח׃before-the-door

   Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

10. 10

    אֶחָיbrothers-myהַנְּבִיאִיםthe-prophetsאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבְּרוּhave-spokenבְּשֵׁםin-the-name-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordהֵםtakeיִהְיוּthemלָכֶםforלְמוֹפֵתan-exampleהׇעֳנִיof-suffering-afflictionוְהַתּוֹחֶלֶת׃and-of-patience

    Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

11. 11

    הִנֵּהbeholdמְאַשְּׁרִיםwe-count-happyאֲנַחְנוּweאֶת־הַסֹּבְלִיםthem-which-endureשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou-have-heard-ofסַבְלָנוּתthe-patience-ofאִיּוֹבJobוְאֶת־אַחֲרִיתand-the-end-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordרְאִיתֶםyou-have-seenכִּי־רַחוּםthat-is-very-pitifulוְחַנּוּןand-of-tender-mercyהָאָדוֹן׃the-Lord

    Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

12. 12

    וְרֹאשׁbut-aboveדָּבָרall-thingsאַחַיmy-brothersלֹאnotתִשָּׁבְעוּswearלֹאnotבַשָּׁמַיִםin-heavenוְלֹאand-notבָאָרֶץin-the-landוְלֹאand-notכׇּל־שְׁבוּעָהall-by-any-means-herאַחֶרֶתany-otherוִיהִיand-may-beהֵןyeaשֶׁלָּכֶםthat-youהֵןyeaוְלֹאand-notשֶׁלָּכֶםthat-youלֹאnotפֶּן־תִּפְּלוּlest-shall-fall-hisבִּידֵיby-the-hands-ofהַדִּין׃the-judgment

    But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

13. 13

    אִישׁa-manמִכֶּםfrom-youכִּי־יֵצַרafflictedלוֹlet-himיִתְפַּלֵּלprayוַאֲשֶׁרis-anyיִיטַבmerryלִבּוֹof-heartהוּאlet-himיְזַמֵּר׃sing-psalms

    Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14. 14

    אִישׁa-manמִכֶּםfrom-youכִּי־יֶחֱלֶהis-sickיִקְרָאlet-him-callאֶת־זִקְנֵיthe-elders-ofהַקְּהִלָּהthe-churchוְיִתְפַּלֲלוּand-let-them-prayבַעֲדוֹover-himוִיסוּכֻהוּanointing-himשֶׁמֶןwith-oilבְּשֵׁםby-nameהָאָדוֹן׃the-Lord

    Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15. 15

    וּתְפִלַּתand-the-prayer-ofהָאֱמוּנָהfaithתּוֹשִׁיעַshall-saveאֶת־הַחוֹלֶהthe-sickוְהָאָדוֹןand-the-Lordיְקִימֶנּוּshall-raise-him-upוַאֲשֶׁרand-ifחָטָאhe-have-committed-sinsיִסָּלַחthey-shall-be-forgivenלוֹ׃him

    And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16. 16

    הִתְוַדּוּconfessעֲוֹנוֹתֵיכֶםyour-faultsאִישׁoneלִפְנֵיtoרֵעֵהוּanotherוְהִתְפַּלֲלוּand-prayאִישׁoneבְּעַדforרֵעֵהוּanotherלְמַעַןthatתֵּרָפֵאוּyou-may-be-healedכִּי־גָדוֹלmuch-availethכֹּחַthe-power-ofתְּפִלַּתthe-prayer-ofהַצַּדִּיקa-righteous-manהַקֹּרֵאwho-callethאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםunto-Godבְּחׇזְקָה׃fervently

    Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17. 17

    אֵלִיָּסEliasאֱנוֹשׁa-manאָנוּשׁsubject-to-like-passionsהָיָהwasכָמֹנוּas-we-areוְהִתְפַּלֵּלand-he-prayedתְּפִלָּהearnestlyשֶׁלּאthat-notיִהְיֶהit-mightמָטָרrainוְלֹא־הָיָהand-there-was-noמָטָרrainבָּאָרֶץon-the-earthשָׁלֹשׁthreeשָׁנִיםyearsוְשִׁשָּׁהand-sixחֳדָשִׁים׃months

    Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18. 18

    וַיָּשׇׁבand-againוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלhe-prayedוְהַשָּׁמַיִםand-the-heavenנָתְנוּgaveמָטָרrainוְהָאָרֶץand-the-earthהִצְמִיחָהbrought-forthאֶת־פִּרְיָהּ׃her-fruit

    And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

19. 19

    אֶחָיbrothers-myכִּיbecauseיִתְעֶהdo-errאִישׁanyבָּכֶםof-youמִן־הָאֱמֶתfrom-the-truthוְאִישׁand-oneאַחֵרanotherיְשִׁיבֶנּוּ׃convert-him

    Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20. 20

    יֵדַע־נָאshall-know-I-prayכִּיbecauseהַמֵּשִׁיבhe-which-convertethאֶת־הַחוֹטֵאthe-sinnerמֵעִקְּשׁוּתfrom-the-error-ofדַּרְכּוֹhis-wayהוּאshallיוֹשִׁיעַsaveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹa-soulמִמָּוֶתfrom-deathוִיכַסֶּהand-shall-hideעַל־הֲמוֹןa-multitude-ofפְּשָׁעִים׃sins

    Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
