   For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

   To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

   Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

   וּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeמַה־גָּדוֹלma-ga/DOLhow greatהוּאhuhe wasאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomגַּם־אַבְרָהָםgam-Av/ra/HAMeven Abrahamאָבִינוּa/VI/nuour fatherנָתַן־לוֹna/TAN-logave himמַעֲשֵׂרma/a/SERa tenthמִן־הַשָּׁלָל׃min-hash/sha/LALof the spoils

   Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

   וְאׇמְנָםve/om/NAMand indeedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofלֵוִיLe/VILeviהַלֹּקְחִיםhal/lok/CHIMwho takeאֶת־הַכְּהֻנָּהet-hak/ke/hun/NAthe priesthoodיֶשׁ־לָהֶםyesh-la/HEMthey haveמִצְוָהmits/VAa commandmentלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־הַמַּעַשְׂרוֹתet-ham/ma/as/ROTthe tithesמִן־הָעָםmin-ha/AMfrom the peopleעַל־פִּיal-piaccording toהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawמִן־אֲחֵיהֶםmin-a/che/HEMfrom their brothersגַּםgamevenכִּיkithoughהֵםhemtheyיֹצְאֵיyots/Ecame out ofיֶרֶךְYE/rekhthe loins ofאַבְרָהָם׃Av/ra/HAMAbraham

   And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

6. 6

   וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand he whoאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuis notמִתְיַחֵשׂmit/ya/CHESreckoned by genealogyלְמִשְׁפַּחְתָּםle/mish/pach/TAMto their familyהוּאhuheלָקַחla/KACHtookאֶת־הַמַּעַשְׂרוֹתet-ham/ma/as/ROTthe tithesמִן־אַבְרָהָםmin-Av/ra/HAMof Abrahamוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthe one whoהָיוּ־לוֹha/YU-lohadהַהַבְטָחוֹת׃ha/hav/ta/CHOTthe promises

   But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

   וּבְלִיu/ve/LIand withoutכׇל־רִיבkhol-rivall disputeהַקָּטֹןhak/ka/TONlittleיְבֹרַךְye/VO/rakhis blessedמֵאֵתme/ETofהַטּוֹבhat/TOVgoodמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuthan him

   And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

8. 8

   וּפֹהu/FOand hereבְּנֵיbe/NEsons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָמוּתוּya/MU/tudieלֹקְחִיםlok/CHIMtakeאֶת־הַמַּעַשְׂרוֹתet-ham/ma/as/ROTthe tithesאֲבָלa/VALbutשָׁםshamthereלֹקְחָםlok/CHAMtakes themאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whomהוּעַדhu/ADis testifiedעָלָיוa/LAYVabout himכִּיkithatחַיchaylivesהוּא׃huhe

   And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

   וְאִםve/IMand ifאוּכַלu/KHALI mayלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכֵּןkensoגַּם־לֵוִיGam-le/VILevi alsoהַלֹּקֵחַhal/lo/KE/achwho takesאֶת־הַמַּעַשְׂרוֹתet-ham/ma/as/ROTthe tithesנָתַןna/TANgaveמַעֲשֵׂרma/a/SERa tenthבְּאַבְרָהָם׃be/Av/ra/HAMin Abraham

   And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

    כִּיkiforעוֹדodstillבְּיֶרֶךְbe/YE/rekhin the loins ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherהָיָהha/YAhe wasבְּצֵאתbe/TSETwhen went outמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶקMal/KI-TSE/dekMelchizedekלִקְרָאתוֹ׃lik/ra/TOto meet him

    For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

11. 11

    לוּluifאֵפוֹאe/FOthenהָיְתָהha/ye/TAthere wereשְׁלֵמוּתshe/le/MUTcompletenessעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEthroughכְהֻנַּתkhe/hun/NATthe priesthood ofלֵוִיLe/VILeviכִּיkiforתַחְתֶּיהָtach/TE/hain its placeלָקַחla/KACHreceivedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawמַהmawhatעוֹדodstillחָסֵרcha/SERlackingכִּיkithatיָקוּםya/KUMwould riseכֹּהֵןko/HENa priestאַחֵרa/CHERanotherעַל־דִּבְרָתִיal-div/ra/TIafter the manner ofמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶקMal/KI-TSE/dekMelchizedekוְלֹאve/LOand notיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REbe calledעַל־דִּבְרָתִיal-div/ra/TIafter the manner ofאַהֲרֹן׃A/ha/RONAaron

    If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12. 12

    כִּיkiforבַּחֲלֹףba/cha/LOFin the changingהַכְּהֻנָּהhak/ke/hun/NAthe priesthoodצֹרֶךְTSO/rekhneedהוּאhuisכִּיkithatתַחֲלֹףta/cha/LOFa changeגַּם־הַתּוֹרָה׃gam-hat/to/RAthe law also

    For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13. 13

    כִּיkiforאֲשֶׁר־מְדֻבָּרa/SHER-me/dub/BARhe of whom is spokenבּוֹboof himאֵלֶּהEL/lethese thingsהוּאhuheמִשֵּׁבֶטmish/SHE/vetof a tribeאַחֵרa/CHERotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichלֹא־שֵׁרֵתlo-she/REThas not servedאִישׁisha manמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof itבַּמִּזְבֵּחַ׃bam/miz/BE/achat the altar

    For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforגָלוּיga/LUYit is clearכִּיkithatאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordצָמַחtsa/MACHsprangמִיהוּדָהmI/hu/DAout of Judaמִן־הַשֵּׁבֶטmin-hash/SHE/vetfrom the tribeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERabout whichמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלֹא־דִבֶּרlo-dib/BERdid not speakעָלָיוa/LAYVabout itדָּבָרda/VARa thingעַל־אוֹדוֹתal-o/DOTconcerningכְּהֻנָּה׃ke/hun/NAthe priesthood

    For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

15. 15

    וְעוֹדve/ODand stillיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreגָּלוּיga/LUYevidentהוּאhuit isכִּיkiforכִּדְמוּתkid/MUTafter the similitude ofמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶקMal/KI-TSE/dekMelchizedekיָקוּםya/KUMrisesכֹּהֵןko/HENa priestאַחֵר׃a/CHERanother

    And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16. 16

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAwas madeלֹאlonotעַל־פִּיal-piaccording toתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofמִצְוַתmits/VATthe command ofבָּשָׂרba/SARfleshכִּיkibutאִם־עַל־פִּיim-al-pirather according toכֹּחַKO/achthe power ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵין־קֵץen-ketswithout endלָהֶם׃la/HEMto it

    Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

17. 17

    כִּיkiforהוּאhuheמֵעִידme/IDtestifiesאַתָּה־כֹהֵןat/TA-kho/HENyou are a priestלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverעַל־דִּבְרָתִיal-div/ra/TIafter the manner ofמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק׃Mal/KI-TSE/dekMelchizedek

    For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

18. 18

    כִּיkiforאׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyתֻּפַרtu/FARthere is an annulling ofהַמִּצְוָהham/mits/VAthe commandmentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלְפָנִיםle/fa/NIMbeforeמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEforחֻלְשָׁתָהּchul/sha/TAits weaknessוּבִלְתִּיu/vil/TIand notהוֹעִיל׃ho/ILprofit

    For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19. 19

    כִּיkiforהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawלֹא־הִשְׁלִימָהlo-hish/LI/mamade completeדָּבָרda/VARnothingאֲבָלa/VALbutהוּבְאָהhuv/Awas brought inתִּקְוָהtik/VAa hopeטוֹבָהto/VAbetterמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nathan itאֲשֶׁרa/SHERby whichבָּהּbain itנִקְרַבnik/RAVwe draw nearאֶל־אֱלֹהִים׃el-e/lo/HIMto God

    For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

20. 20

    וּכְפִיu/khe/FIand asאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutשְׁבוּעָהshe/vu/Aan oathהָיָהha/YAit wasלְכֹהֵן׃le/kho/HENas priest

    And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:

21. 21

    כִּיkiforהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMpriestsהָהֵםha/HEMthoseהָיוּha/YUwereבְּלִי־שְׁבוּעָהbe/LI-she/vu/Awithout an oathוְזֶהve/ZEbut this oneבִּשְׁבוּעָהbish/vu/Awith an oathעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEthroughהָאֹמֵרha/O/MERthe One who saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAhas swornהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוְלֹאve/LOand notיִנָּחֵםyin/na/CHEMwill He relentאַתָּה־כֹהֵןat/TA-kho/HENyou are a priestלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverעַל־דִּבְרָתִיal-div/ra/TIafter the manner ofמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק׃Mal/KI-TSE/dekMelchizedek

    (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

22. 22

    כְּפִיke/FIaccording toזֶהzethisהָיָהha/YAwasיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלְעֹרֵבle/o/REVa guarantorבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantטוֹבָהto/VAbetterמִן־הָרִאשׁוֹנָה׃min-ha/ri/sho/NAthan the first

    By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

23. 23

    וְהֵםve/HEMand theyאׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyהָיוּha/YUwereכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־נְתָנָםlo-ne/ta/NAMdid not allow themהַמָּוֶתham/MA/vetdeathלַעֲמֹד׃la/a/MODto continue

    And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

24. 24

    אֲבָלa/VALbutזֶהzethis oneיַעַןYA/anbecauseכִּיkithatעֹמֵדo/MEDabidesהוּאhuheלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasכְּהֻנָּהke/hun/NAthe priesthoodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־תַעֲבֹר׃lo-ta/a/VORdoes not pass

    But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

25. 25

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeגַּם־יוּכַלgam-yu/KHALhe is able alsoלְהוֹשִׁיעַle/ho/SHI/ato saveעַד־תַּכְלִיתad-takh/LITto the endאֶת־הַבָּאִיםet-hab/ba/IMthose who comeעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOthrough himאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםel-e/lo/HIMto Godכִּיkisinceחַי־הוּאchay-huhe livesתָמִידta/MIDalwaysלְהַפְגִּיעַle/haf/GI/ato intercedeבַּעֲדָם׃ba/a/DAMfor them

    Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26. 26

    כִּיkiforנָאוֶהna/VEis fittingלָנוּLA/nuusכֹּהֵןko/HENa priestגָּדוֹלga/DOLhighכָּזֶהka/ZEsuchאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuisחָסִידcha/SIDgodlyתָּמִיםta/MIMblamelessוְטָהוֹרve/ta/HORand pureוְנִבְדָּלve/niv/DALand separateמִן־הַחַטָּאִיםmin-ha/chat/ta/IMfrom sinnersוְנִשָּׂאve/nis/SAand lifted upמֵהַשָּׁמָיִם׃me/hash/sha/MA/yimabove the heavens

    For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

27. 27

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵיןenit is notעָלָיוa/LAYVon himכַּכֹּהֲנִיםkak/ko/ha/NIMlike the priestsהַגְּדוֹלִיםhag/ge/do/LIMhighהָהֵםha/HEMthoseלְהַקְרִיבle/hak/RIVto offer upזֶבַחZE/vachsacrificeיוֹםyomdayיוֹםyomby dayבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהba/ri/sho/NAfirstעַל־חַטֹּאתָיוal-chat/to/TAYVfor his sinsוְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןve/a/cha/RE-khenand after thatעַל־חַטֹּאתal-chat/TOTfor the sins ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleכִּי־זֹאתki-zotfor thisעָשָׂהa/SAhe didבְּפַעַםbe/FA/amat a timeאַחַתa/CHAToneבְּהַקְרִיבוֹbe/hak/ri/VOwhen he offeredאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ׃et-naf/SHOhimself

    Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

28. 28

    כִּיkiforהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawמַעֲמִידָהma/a/mi/DAappointsבְּנֵי־אָדָםbe/NE-a/DAMsons of menלְכֹהֲנִיםle/kho/ha/NIMas priestsגְּדוֹלִיםge/do/LIMhighאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהֶםba/HEMin themחֹלִיCHO/liweaknessאֲבָלa/VALbutדְּבַר־הַשְּׁבוּעָהde/VAR-hash/she/vu/Athe word of the oathהַבָּאָהhab/BA/athat cameאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawמַעֲמִידma/a/MIDappointsאֶת־הַבֵּןet-Hab/BENthe Sonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoמִלֵּאmil/LEHe filledאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
