1. 1

   כִּיbecauseכׇּל־כֹּהֵןevery-priestגָּדוֹלhighהַלָּקוּחַtakenמִתּוֹךְfrom-amongבְּנֵי־אָדָםmenמֻפְקָדis-ordainedהוּאheבַּעֲבוּרbecause-ofבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofאָדָםmanבְּעִנְיְנֵיas-pertaining-to-the-things-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodלְהַקְרִיבto-offerמִנְחָהboth-giftsוָזֶבַחand-sacrificesעַל־הַחֲטָאִים׃for-sins

   For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

   וְהוּאand-heיֹדֵעַwho-canלַחְמֹלhave-compassionעַל־הַשֹּׁגֲגִיםon-the-ignorantוְהַתֹּעִיםand-them-out-of-the-wayבִּהְיוֹתוֹfor-thatגַם־הוּאhe-himself-alsoיְדוּעַis-compassed-withחֹלִי׃infirmity

   Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

3. 3

   אֲשֶׁר־עַל־כֵּןand-by-reason-hereofחַיָּבhe-oughtלְהַקְרִיבto-offerעַל־הַחֲטָאִיםupon-the-sinsבְּעַד־הָעָםfor-the-peopleוּבְעַד־נַפְשׁוֹ׃so-also-for-himself

   And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

4. 4

   וְאֶת־הַגְּדֻלָּהand-honorהַזֹּאתthisלֹא־יִקַּחtaketh-notאִישׁno-manלְנַפְשׁוֹunto-himselfרַקbutהַקָּרוּאhe-that-is-calledלָהּof-itמֵאֵתfromהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godכְּאַהֲרֹן׃as-Aaron

   And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

   וְכֵןand-soהַמָּשִּׁיחַthe-Messiahלֹא־כִבֵּדglorified-notאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhimselfלִהְיוֹתto-be-madeכֹּהֵןa-priestגָּדוֹלhighכִּיbutאִם־מִיhe-that-saidשֶׁאָמַרthat-saidאֵלָיוto-himבְּנִיmy-sonאַתָּהyouאֲנִיIהַיּוֹםthe-dayיְלִדְתִּיךָ׃I have begotten-you

   So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

   כְּמוֹasשֶׁאָמַרthat-saidגַּם־בְּמָקוֹםalso-in-a-placeאַחֵרanotherאַתָּה־כֹהֵןyou-are-a-priestלְעוֹלָםfor-everעַל־דִּבְרָתִיafter-the-order-ofמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק׃Melchizedek

   As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

   אֲשֶׁרwhichבִּימֵיin-the-days-ofהֱיוֹתוֹhis-beingבַבָּשָׂרin-the-fleshהִקְרִיבhe-offered-upתְּפִלּוֹתprayersוְתַחֲנוּנִיםand-supplicationsבִּצְעָקָהwith-cryingגְדוֹלָהstrongוּבִדְמָעוֹתand-in-tearsלִפְנֵיbeforeמִי־שֶׁיָּכוֹלhim-that-was-ableלְהוֹשִׁיעוֹto-save-himמִמָּוֶתfrom-deathוַיֵּעָתֶר־לוֹand-was-heardמִפְּנֵיin-thatיִרְאָתוֹ׃he-feared

   Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

   וְאַףand-yetכִּי־הָיָהbecause-wasהַבֵּןthe-Sonלָמַדlearned-heמֵעֻנּוֹתוֹby-the-things-he-sufferedלִשְׁמוֹעַ׃obedience

   Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

   וְאַחֲרֵיand-afterאֲשֶׁרwhichהֻשְׁלַםhe-was-made-perfectהָיָהhe-becameמַמְצִיאthe-author-ofתְּשׁוּעַתsalvationעוֹלָמִיםeternalלְכׇל־שֹׁמְעָיו׃unto-all-them-that-obey-him

   And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

10. 10

    וְהָאֱלֹהִיםand-the-Godקָרָא־לוֹcalled-of-Godכֹּהֵןa-priestגָּדוֹלhighעַל־דִּבְרָתִיafter-the-order-ofמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק׃Melchizedek

    Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

11. 11

    עַל־זֹאתupon-thisיֶשׁ־לָנוּwe-haveלְדַבֵּרto-sayרַבּוֹתmany-thingsוְקָשׁוֹתand-hardלְבַאֵרto-be-utteredלָכֶםto-youבְּמִלִּיןin-wordsיַעַןseeingכִּי־כָבְדוּyou-are-dullאׇזְנֵיכֶם׃of-hearing

    Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

    כִּיbecauseתַּחַתunderאֲשֶׁרwhichלְפִיaccording-toרְבוֹתthe-length-ofהַיָּמִיםthe-timeהָיָהyou-oughtרָאוּיthat-youלָכֶםshouldלִהְיוֹתbeמְלַמְּדִיםteachersעַתָּהnowצְרִיכִיםneedingאַתֶּםyou-areשֶׁיָּשׁוּבוּthat-one-teach-againוִילַמְּדוּand-teachאֶתְכֶםyouעִקְּרֵיprinciples-ofרֵאשִׁיתthe-beginning-ofדִּבְרֵיaccount-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוְהִצְטָרַכְתֶּםand-are-become-such-as-have-needלְחָלָבof-milkוְלֹאand-notלְמַאֲכׇלof-meatבָּרִיא׃strong

    For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

    כִּיbecauseכֹלallאֲשֶׁרwhichמַאֲכָלוֹthat-usethחָלָבmilkאֵינֶנּוּisמֵבִיןunskilfulבִּדְבַר־צֶדֶקin-the-word-of-righteousnessכִּי־עוֹדֶנּוּfor-he-isתִינֹק׃a-babe

    For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

14. 14

    וְלַשְּׁלֵמִיםbut-to-them-of-full-ageהַמַּאֲכׇלmeatהַבָּרִיאstrongאֲשֶׁרwhichיֵשׁthereלָהֶםto-themעַל־פִּיby-reason-ofהַנִּסָּיוֹןuseחוּשִׁיםsensesשֶׁהָרְגְּלוּexercisedלְהַבְחִיןto-discernבֵּין־טוֹבamong-goodלָרָע׃to-the-evil

    But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
