    וַאֲנִיand-Iאֹמֵרsayהַיּוֹרֵשׁthe-heirכׇּל־זְמַןall-timeשֶׁהוּאthat-he-isקָטֹןis-a-childאַףyeaעַל־פִּיaccording-toשֶׁהוּאthat-he-isאֲדוֹןthe-master-ofהַכֹּלallאֵיןthere-is-noבֵּינוֹbetween-himלְעֶבֶדand-a-servantדָּבָר׃in-anything

    Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

    כִּיbecauseאִםifתַּחַתunderיַדthe-hand-ofאֹמְנִיםguardiansהוּאheוְתַחַתand-underפְּקִידֵיofficers-ofהַבָּיִתthe-houseעַדuntilלַמּוֹעֵדto the-timeהַמְיֻעָדthe-appointedלוֹhimמֵאֵתfromאָבִיו׃his-father

    But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

    וְכֵן־אֲנָחְנוּand-so-weבְּעוֹדֵנוּwhile-we-areקְטַנִּיםlittleהָיִינוּwe-wereמְשֻׁעְבָּדִיםenslaved(pl)לְתִקּוּנֵיto-the-elements-ofהָעוֹלָם׃the-world

    Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

    וּבִמְלֹאתand-when-are completedהַיָּמִיםthe-daysשָׁלַחsentהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godאֶת־בְּנוֹhis-sonיְלוּדborn ofאִשָּׁהa-womanוְנָתוּןand-givenתַּחַתunderיַד־הַתּוֹרָה׃hand-of-the-law

    But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

    לִפְדּוֹתto-redeemאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhichהָיוּwereתַּחַתunderיַד־הַתּוֹרָהhand-of-the-lawלְמַעַןin-order-thatנְקַבֵּלwe-may-receiveמִשְׁפַּטjudgmentהַבָּנִים׃the-children

    To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

    וְיַעַןand-becauseכִּי־בָנִיםbecause-childrenאַתֶּםyou-areשָׁלַחsentהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godבִּלְבַבְכֶםin-your-heartsאֶת־רוּחַthe-Spirit-ofבְּנוֹhis-Sonהַקּוֹרֵאthe-callingאַבָּאAbbaאָבִינוּ׃our-father

    And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

    לָכֵןthereforeאֵינְךָyou-are-notעוֹדany-moreעֶבֶדthe-servant-ofכִּיbecauseאִם־בֵּןif-a-sonוְאִם־בֵּןand-if-a-sonאַתָּהyouהִנְּךָbehold-youגַם־יוֹרֵשׁalso-an-heirנַחֲלַתthe-inheritance-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godעַל־יְדֵיby-means-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

    הֵןyeaלְפָנִיםformerlyבְּאֵין־דַּעַתnot-knowingאֱלֹהִיםGodעֲבַדְתֶּםyou-servedאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhichבְּעַצְמוּתָםby-their-natureאֵינָםthey-are-notאֱלֹהִים׃God

    Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

    וְעַתָּהand-nowאַחֲרֵיafterאֲשֶׁר־יְדַעְתֶּםthat-you-have-knownאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGodוְיוֹתֵרand-moreשֶׁנּוֹדַעְתֶּםthat-you-are-knownלֵאלֹהִיםGodאֵיךְhowתָּשׁוּבוּyou-will-turnאֶל־הַתִּיקּוּנִיםto-the-elementsהָרָפִיםthe-weak-onesוְהַדַּלִּיםand-the-poorהָהֵםthoseאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּרְצוּyou-desireלְהִכָּנֵעַto-be-humbledלָהֶםto-themכְּבַתְּחִלָּה׃as-at the-beginning

    But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

    יָמִיםdaysאַתֶּםyou-areשֹׁמְרִיםyou-keepוׇחֳדָשִׁיםand-monthsוּמוֹעֲדִיםand-timesוְשָׁנִים׃and-years

    Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

  11. 11

    מִתְיָרֵאI-am-afraidאֲנִיIפֶּן־יָגַעְתִּיlest-I-laboredבָכֶםin-youלָרִיק׃to-emptiness

    I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

  12. 12

    הֱיוּ־נָאbe-I-prayכָמוֹנִיlike-meכִּיbecauseגַם־אֲנִיalso-Iכְּמוֹכֶםlike-youמִתְחַנֵּןbeseechingאֲנִיIלָכֶםto-youאֶחָיbrothers-myלֹא־עֲשִׂיתֶםnot-you-have-doneלִיto-meמְאוּמָהanythingרָע׃evil

    Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.

    אַתֶּםyou-areיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּחֻלְשַׁתto-the-infirmities-ofבְּשָׂרִיmy-fleshבִּשַׂרְתִּיI-preachedלָכֶםto-youאֶת־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-good-tidingsבָּרִאשׁוֹנָה׃at-first

    Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.

    וְאַתֶּםand-youלֹאnotבְזִיתֶםyou-despisedאֶת־נִסְיוֹנִיmy-probationאֲשֶׁר־נֻסֵּיתִיwhich-I-was-triedבִּבְשָׂרִיin-flesh-myוְלֹאand-notגְעַלְתֶּםyou-abhorredאֹתוֹhimכִּיbutאִם־קִבַּלְתֶּםif-receivedאֹתִיmeכְּמַלְאַךְlike-an angel ofאֱלֹהִיםGodכַּמָּשִׁיחַas-the-Messiahיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus

    And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

    וְעַתָּהand-nowאַיֵּהwhere-isאׇשְׁרְכֶםyour-blessednessהֵןyeaמֵעִידwitnessאֲנִיIעֲלֵיכֶםover-youשֶׁאִם־יְכָלְתֶּםthat-if-you-couldהֱיִיתֶםyou-would-have-beenנֹקְרִיםplucking-outאֶת־עֵינֵיכֶםyour-eyesלְתִתָּןto-putלִי׃to-me

    Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

  16. 16

    וְעַתָּהand-nowהַלְאֹיֵבthen-an-enemyנִהְיֵיתִיhave-I-becomeלָכֶםto-youבְּדַבְּרִיbecause-I-speakאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youאֱמֶת׃truth

    Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

  17. 17

    הֵמָּהtheyלֹאnotיְקַנְאוּthey-are-zealousלָכֶםto-youלְטוֹבָהfor-goodרַקonlyלְהַפְרִידto-separateבֵּינֵיכֶםamong-youוּבֵינֵינוּand-between-usיֶחְפָּצוּthey delight inלְמַעַןin-order-thatתְּקַנְאוּyou-might-be-zealousאַתֶּםyou-areלָהֶם׃to-them

    They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

  18. 18

    אׇמְנָםtrulyטוֹבgoodלְקַנֵּאto-be-zealousתָּמִידcontinuallyלְטוֹבָהfor-goodוְלֹאand-notבִּהְיוֹתִיbeingאֶצְלְכֶםwith-youבִּלְבָד׃alone

    But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

  19. 19

    בָּנַיmy-sonsאֲשֶׁר־אֲנִיof-whom-Iנָתוּןam-in-travailשֵׁנִיתagainבְּחֶבְלֵיin-pains-ofלֵדָהof-birthעַדuntilכִּי־יוּצַרthat-be-formedבָּכֶםin-youהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

    אׇמְנָהtrulyחָפַצְתִּיI-desireלִהְיוֹתto-beעַתָּהnowאֶצְלְכֶםwith-youלְשַׁנּוֹתto-changeאֶת־קוֹלthe-voice-ofדְּבָרִיmy-speechכִּיbecauseנָבוֹךְI-am-perplexedאֲנִיIבָּכֶם׃in-you

    I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

    אִמְרוּsayלִיto-meאַתֶּםyou-areהַחֲפֵצִיםwho-desireלִהְיוֹתto-beתַּחַתunderהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawהֲלֹאdo-notשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou-have-heardאֶת־הַתּוֹרָה׃the-law

    Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

  22. 22

    כִּיbecauseכָתוּבwrittenשְׁנֵיtwoבָנִיםchildrenהָיוּwereלְאַבְרָהָםunto-Abrahamהָאֶחָדthe-oneמִן־הָאָמָהfrom-the-handmaidוְהַשֵּׁנִיand-the-secondמִן־הַחׇפְשִׁיָּה׃from-the-free-woman

    For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

  23. 23

    וּבֶן־הָאָמָהand-son-of-the-handmaidנוֹלַדwas-bornלְפִיaccording-toהַבָּשָׂרthe-fleshוּבֶן־הַחׇפְשִׁיָּהand-son-of-the-free-womanעַל־פִּיaccording-toהַהַבְטָחָה׃the-promise

    But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

    וְהַדְּבָרִיםand-the-thingsהֵםtheyמָשָׁלan-allegoryכִּיbecauseאֵלֶּהtheseהֵןyeaשְׁתֵּיtwoהַבְּרִיתוֹתthe-covenantsהָאַחַתthe-oneמִן־הַרfrom-mountainסִינַיSinaiהַיּוֹלֶדֶתwhich-genderethלְעַבְדוּתinto-bondageוְהִיאand-she-wasהָגָר׃Hagar

    Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

    כִּי־סִינַיbecause-Sinaiהוּאheהַרmountainבַּעֲרָבin-the-Arabiaוְהוּאand-heכְּנֶגֶדas-againstיְרוּשָׁלַיִםJerusalemשֶׁל־עַתָּהof-nowכִּי־בְעַבְדוּתbecause-in-bondageהִיאsheעִם־בָּנֶיהָ׃with-sons-her

    For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

  26. 26

    אֲבָלbutיְרוּשָׁלַיִםJerusalemלְמַעְלָהupwardחׇפְשִׁיָּהfreeהִיאsheוְהִיאand-she-wasאֵםmother-ofכֻּלָּנוּ׃us-all

    But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

  27. 27

    כִּיbecauseכָתוּבwrittenרׇנִּיsing!עֲקָרָהbarren(f)לֹאnotיָלָדָהshe-boreפִּצְחִיbreak-forthרִנָּהinto-joyוְצַהֲלִיand-cry-aloudלֹא־חָלָהnot-travailedכִּיbecauseרַבִּיםmanyבְּנֵי־שׁוֹמֵמָהsons-of-the-desolateמִבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofבְעוּלָה׃the-married

    For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

  28. 28

    וַאֲנַחְנוּand-we-areאֶחָיbrothers-myהִנְנוּbehold-usכְיִצְחָקas-Isaacבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofהַהַבְטָחָה׃the-promise

    Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

  29. 29

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרand-asרָדַףpersecutedאָזthenהַנּוֹלָדthe-bornלְפִי־הַבָּשָׂרaccording-to-the-fleshאֶת־הַנּוֹלָדthe-who-had been bornלְפִיaccording-toהָרוּחַthe-Spiritכֵּן־גַּם־עָתָּה׃so-also-now

    But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

  30. 30

    וְהַכָּתוּבand-the-which-is-writtenמַה־הוּאwhatאֹמֵרsayגָּרֵשׁdrive outהָאָמָהthe-handmaidוְאֶת־בְּנָהּand-son-herכִּיbecauseלֹאnotיִירַשׁshall-inheritבֶּן־הָאָמָהson-of-the-handmaidעִםwithבֶּן־הַחׇפְשִׁיָּה׃son-of-the-free-woman

    Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

  31. 31

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeאֶחָיbrothers-myלֹא־בְנֵיnot-sons-ofהָאָמָהthe-handmaidאֲנַחְנוּweכִּיbecauseאִם־בְּנֵיif-sons-ofהַחׇפְשִׁיָּה׃the-free-woman

    So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
