    וּבְכֵןand-in-suchלְכוּgoבְּדַרְכֵיin-the-ways-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godכְּבָנִיםas-childrenחֲבִיבִים׃beloved-ones

    Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

  2. 2

    וְהִתְהַלְּכוּand-walk aboutבְּאַהֲבָהin-loveכַּאֲשֶׁרasגַּם־הַמָּשִׁיחַalso-the-Messiahאָהַבlovedאֹתָנוּusוְהִקְרִיבand-offeredאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhimselfבַּעֲדֵנוּfor-usלְקׇרְבָּןan-offeringוָזֶבַחand-sacrificeלֵאלֹהִיםGodלְרֵיחַto-an odor ofנִיחוֹחַ׃a-sweet-savor

    And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

    אֲבָלbutזְנוּתwhoredomוְכׇל־טֻמְאָהand-all-filthinessוְאַהֲבַתand-love-ofבֶּצַעcovetousness,בַּל־יִזָּכֵרlet-it-not-be-namedבֵּינֵיכֶםamong-youכַּאֲשֶׁרasנָאוֶהbecomethלַקְּדשִׁים׃to-the-saints

    But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

    גַּם־לֹאalso-notנִבּוּלfilthinessפֶּהof-mouthוְדִבְרֵיand-the-words-ofסִכְלוּתof-foolishnessלִיצָנוּתjestingמַה־שֶּׁלּאwhich-are-notכְהֹגֶןas-is-fittingכִּיbecauseאִם־קוֹלbut-the-voice-ofתּוֹדָה׃thanksgiving

    Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

    כִּי־זֹאתbecause-thisיָדֹעַsurelyתֵּדְעוּyou-knowכִּיbecauseכׇל־זֹנֶהevery-whoremongerוְטָמֵאand-the-uncleanוְאֹהֵבand-lover-ofבֶּצַעcovetousאֲשֶׁרwhichכְּעֹבֵדwho-is-a-worshipper-ofאֱלִילִיםidolsאֵין־לוֹnoחֵלֶקpartוְנַחֲלָהand-inheritanceבְּמַלְכוּתin-the-kingdom-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahוְהָאֱלֹהִים׃and-the-God

    For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

    אַל־יַשִׂיאlet-no-man-deceiveאִישׁa-manאֶתְכֶםyouבְּדִבְרֵיwith-the-words-ofרִיקvainכִּיbecauseבִגְלַל־אֵלֶּהin-account of-theseחֲרוֹןthe-wrath-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodיָבֹאshall-comeעַל־בְּנֵיupon-the-sons-ofהַמֶּרִי׃the-rebellion

    Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeאַל־יְהִיdo-not-let-this-beחֶלְקְכֶםyour-portionעִמָּהֶם׃with-them

    Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

  8. 8

    כִּיbecauseמִלְּפָנִיםfrom-beforeהֱיִיתֶםyou-wereחֹשֶׁךְdarknessוְעַתָּהand-nowהִנְּכֶםyou-areאוֹרlightבַּאֲדֹנֵינוּin-the-Lordהִתְהַלְּכוּ־נָאwalkכִּבְנֵיas-children-ofאוֹר׃light

    For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

    כִּי־פְרִיfor-the-fruit-ofהָאוֹרthe-lightכׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂיall-works-ofחֶסֶדgoodnessוְצֶדֶקand-righteousnessוֶאֱמֶת׃and-truth

    (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

    לִבְחֹןto-testמֶה־הָרָצוּיwhat-is-acceptableבְּעֵינֵיin-the-eyes-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּ׃our-Lord

    Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

  11. 11

    וְאַל־תִּשְׁתַּתְּפוּand-do-not-partakeבְּמַעֲשֵׂיin-works-ofהַחֹשֶׁךְthe-darknessאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יַעֲשׂוּbring-forth-noפֶרִיfruitכִּיbecauseאִם־הוֹכֵחַbut-ratherתּוֹכִיחוּreproveאוֹתָם׃them

    And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

    כִּיbecauseמַה־שֶּׁהֵםwhat-theyעֹשִׂיםthey-doבַּסֵּתֶרin-secretחֶרְפָּהa-shameלְסַפֵּר׃to-speak

    For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

  13. 13

    אֲבָלbutכׇּל־זֹאתall-thisיְגֻלֶּהare-made-manifestכְּשֶׁיּוּכַחwhen-reprovedעַל־יְדֵיby-means-ofהָאוֹרthe-lightכִּיbecauseכׇל־הַנִּגְלֶהwhatsoever-is-made-manifestאוֹרlightהוּא׃he

    But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

  14. 14

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeהוּאheאוֹמֵרsaithעוּרָהawake-!הַיָּשֵׁןthe-sleeperוְקוּמָהand-arise-!מִן־הַמֵּתִיםfrom-the-deadוְיָאֵרand-shall-shine-uponלְךָyouהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

    וְעַתָּהand-nowרְאוּbeholdוְהִזָּהֲרוּand-take-heedשֶׁלּאthat-notתִתְהַלְּכוּyou-walkכַּכְּסִילִיםas-the-foolsכִּיbecauseאִם־כַּחֲכָמִים׃if-as-the-wise

    See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

  16. 16

    מוֹקִירִיםredeemingהַשָּׁעָהthe-timeכִּיbecauseהַיָּמִיםthe-daysרָעִיםevilהֵמָּה׃they

    Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

  17. 17

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeאַל־תִּהְיוּdo-not-you-beחַסְרֵיlacking-inדָעַתknowledgeכִּיbecauseאִם־מְבִינִיםbut-understandingלָדַעַתto-knowמָהwhatרְצוֹןthe-will-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּ׃our-Lord

    Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

  18. 18

    וְאַל־תִּשְׁתַּכְּרוּand-do-not-be-drunkמִיַּיִןfrom-wineהַמֵּבִיאwherein-isלִידֵיuntoפְרִיצוּתexcessכִּיbecauseאִם־הִמָּלְאוּbut-be-filledרוּחַ׃with-the-Spirit

    And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

  19. 19

    וּתְהִיso-may she beשִׂיחַתְכֶםyour-conversationאִישׁa-manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּhis-fellowתְּהִלּוֹתpsalmsוְתִשְׁבָּחוֹתand-hymnsוְשִׁירוֹתand-songs ofרוּחָנִיּוֹתspiritual(pl)שִׁירוּsingוְזַמְּרוּand-sing-praisesלַאדֹנָיto-the Lordבִּלְבַבְכֶם׃in-your-hearts

    Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

    וְהוֹדוּand-give-thanksבְּכׇל־עֵתwith-all-timeעַל־הַכֹּלfor-all-thingsלֵאלֹהִיםGodאָבִינוּour-fatherבְּשֵׁםby-nameאֲדֹנֵינוּour-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

  21. 21

    הִכָּנְעוּsubmitting-yourselvesאִישׁa-manלְאָחִיוof-his-brotherבְּיִרְאַתin-the-fear-ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

    Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

  22. 22

    הַנָּשִׁיםwivesהִכָּנַעְנָהsubmit-yourselvesלְבַעֲלֵיכֶןto-your-husbandsכְּמוֹasלַאֲדֹנֵינוּ׃unto-the-Lord

    Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

    כִּיbecauseהָאִישׁthe-husbandהוּא־רֹאשׁit-is-head-ofהָאִשָּׁהthe-wifeכַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahהוּאheרֹאשׁthe-head-ofהָעֵדָהthe-churchוְהוּאand-heמוֹשִׁיעַthe-saviour-ofשֶׁל־הַגּוּף׃of-the-body

    For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

    אֲבָלbutכַּאֲשֶׁרasתִּכָּנַעis-subjectהָעֵדָהthe-churchלַמָּשִׁיחַunto-the-Messiahאַףyeaכֵּן־הַנָּשִׁיםso-the-wivesלְבַעֲלֵיהֶןto-their-husbandsלְכׇל־דָּבָר׃to-all-things

    Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

    הָאֲנָשִׁיםhusbandsאֶהֱבוּloveאֶת־נְשֵׁיכֶםyour-wivesכַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asגַּם־הַמָּשִׁיחַalso-the-Messiahאָהַבlovedאֶת־הָעֵדָהthe-churchוַיִּתֵּןand-gaveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis-lifeבַּעֲדָהּ׃for-it

    Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

    לְמַעַןin-order-thatקַדְּשָׁהּHe-might-sanctify-herבִּדְבָרוֹin-his-wordאַחֲרֵיafterאֲשֶׁר־טִהֲרָהּHe-had-cleansed-herבִּרְחִיצַתin-the-washing-ofהַמָּיִם׃the-water

    That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

    לַהֲקִימָהּto-present-itבְּכָבוֹדin-gloryלוֹhimלְעֵדָהa-churchאֲשֶׁרwhichאֵין־בָּהּthere-is-no-in-it(f)כֶּתֶםspotוָקֶמֶטor-wrinkleוּכְדוֹמֶהor-any-such-thingכִּיbecauseאִם־לְמַעַןif-in-order-thatתִּהְיֶהshall-beקְדוֹשָׁהholyוּתְמִימָה׃and-perfect(f)

    That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

    כֵּןthusהָאֲנָשִׁיםhusbandsחַיָּבִיםoughtלֶאֱהֹבto-loveאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶםtheir-wivesכְּגוּפָםas-their-bodyכִּיbecauseהָאֹהֵבhe-that-lovethאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹhis-wifeאֹהֵבlovethאֶת־עַצְמוֹ׃himself

    So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

    כִּיbecauseמֵעוֹלָםneverלֹא־שָׂנֵאhatethאִישׁa-manאֶת־בְּשָׂרוֹhis-fleshכִּיbecauseאִם־זָןbut-nourishethוּמְכַלְכֵּלand-cherishethאֹתוֹhimכַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asגַּם־הָאָדוֹןalso-the-Lordאֶת־עֲדָתוֹ׃His-church

    For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

  30. 30

    כִּי־אֵבָרֵיbecause-the-limbs-ofגוּפוֹhis-bodyאֲנָחְנוּweמִבְּשָׂרוֹfrom-flesh-hisוּמֵעֲצָמָיו׃and-from-bones-his

    For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

  31. 31

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeיַעֲזׇב־אִישׁshall-a-man-leaveאֶת־אָבִיוhis-fatherוְאֶת־אִמּוֹand-his-motherוְדָבַקand-shall-be-joinedבְּאִשְׁתּוֹto-wife-hisוְהָיוּand-they-shall-beשְׁנֵיהֶםthe-twoלְבָשָׂרfleshאֶחָד׃one

    For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

  32. 32

    גָּדוֹלgreatהַסּוֹדthe-mysteryהַזֶּהthisוַאֲנִיand-Iפּוֹתֵרspeak-concerningאֹתוֹhimבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-Messiahוְהָעֵדָה׃and-the-church

    This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

  33. 33

    וְאוּלָםneverthelessגַּם־אַתֶּםalso-youכׇּל־אִישׁevery-manמִכֶּםfrom-youיֶאֱהַבlet-him-loveאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹhis-wifeכְּנַפְשׁוֹas-himselfוְהָאִשָּׁהand-the-womanהִיאsheתִזָּהֵרtake-heedוְתִירָאand-reverenceאֶת־בַּעְלָהּ׃her-husband

    Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
