   And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

   And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

   And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

   And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִיmiwhoאַתָּהat/TAare youאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאַתָּהat/TAyouרוֹדֵףro/DEFare persecutingקָשֶׁהka/SHEit is hardלְךָle/KHAfor youלִבְעֹטliv/OTto kickבַּדָּרְבֹנוֹת׃bad/da/re/vo/NOTagainst the goads

   And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

   וְהוּאve/HUand heחָרֵדcha/REDtremblingוְנִבְעָתve/niv/ATand terrifiedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordמַה־תַּחְפֹּץma-tach/POTSwhat do you desireוְאֶעֱשֶׂהve/e/e/SEand I will doוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordקוּםkumariseלֵךְlekhgoהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityוְיֵאָמֵרve/ye/a/MERand it will be toldלְךָle/KHAto youאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatעָלֶיךָa/LE/khais on youלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto do

   And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

   וְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwentאִתּוֹit/TOwith himעָמְדוּa/me/DUstoodנֶאֱלָמִיםne/e/la/MIMspeechlessכִּיkiforשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey heardאֶת־הַקּוֹלet-hak/KOLthe voiceוְאִישׁve/ISHand a manלֹאlonotהִבִּיטוּ׃hib/BI/tudid they see

   And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand roseשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsfrom the groundוּבְפָתְחוֹu/ve/fa/te/CHOand when he openedאֶת־עֵינָיוet-e/NAYVhis eyesלֹאlonotרָאָהra/Adid he seeאִישׁisha manוַיַּחֲזִיקוּvay/ya/cha/ZI/kuand they took holdבְיָדוֹve/ya/DOof his handוַיּוֹלִיכֻהוּvay/yo/li/KHU/huand led himלְדַמָּשֶׂק׃le/Dam/MA/sekto Damascus

   And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

   וַתֶּחְשַׁכְנָהvat/tech/SHAKH/naand were darkenedעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesמֵרְאוֹתmer/OTfrom seeingשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוְלֹאve/LOand notאָכַלa/KHALdid he eatוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁתָה׃SHA/tadid he drink

   And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

    וְתַלְמִידve/tal/MIDand a discipleאֶחָדe/CHADoneהָיָהha/YAwasבְדַמֶּשֶׂקve/Dam/ME/sekin DamascusחֲנַנְיָהCha/nan/YAAnaniasשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordבַּמַּחֲזֶהbam/ma/cha/ZEin the visionחֲנַנְיָהCha/nan/YAAnaniasוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנְנִיhin/NIhere I amאֲדֹנִי׃a/do/NImy Lord

    And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordקוּםkumariseלֵךְlekhgoאֶל־הָרְחוֹבel-ha/re/CHOVto the streetהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledהַיָּשָׁרHay/ya/SHARStraightוּשְׁאַלu/she/ALand inquireבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudasלְאִישׁle/ISHfor a manטַרְסִיTar/SIof Tarsusוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulכִּיkiforהִנֵּה־הוּאhin/NE-hubehold heמִתְפַּלֵּל׃mit/pal/LELis praying

    And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12. 12

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawבַּמַּחֲזֶהbam/ma/cha/ZEin the visionוְהִנֵּה־אִישׁve/hin/NE-ishand behold a manוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameחֲנַנְיָהCha/nan/YAAnaniasבָּאbacomingהַחַדְרָהha/CHAD/rainto the roomוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand puttingעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיָשׁוּבya/SHUVhe might againוְיִרְאֶה׃ve/yir/Esee

    And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

13. 13

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredחֲנַנְיָהCha/nan/YAAnaniasוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI have heardרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמְסַפְּרִיםme/sap/pe/RIMrecountingעַל־הָאִישׁal-ha/ISHabout the manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyרָעוֹתra/OTevilsעָשָׂהa/SAhe didלִקְדוֹשֶׁיךָlik/do/she/KHAto your holy onesבִּירוּשָׁלָיִם׃bI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalem

    Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

14. 14

    וְגַם־פֹּהve/GAM-poand also hereרְשׁוּתre/SHUTauthorityיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohe hasמֵאֵתme/ETfromרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsלֶאֱסֹרle/e/SORto bindאֶת־כׇּל־הַקֹּרְאִיםet-kol-hak/kor/IMall who callבִּשְׁמֶךָ׃bish/ME/khaon your name

    And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordלֵךְlekhgoכִּי־כְלִיki-khe/LIfor a vessel ofנִבְחָרniv/CHARchosenהוּאhuhe isלִיlito meלָשֵׂאתla/SETto carryאֶת־שְׁמִיet-she/MImy nameלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsוּמְלָכִיםu/me/la/KHIMand kingsוְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16. 16

    כִּיkiforאֲנִיa/NIIאַרְאֵהוּar/e/HUwill show himכַּמָּהkam/MAhow muchעָלָיוa/LAYVon himלִסְבֹּלlis/BOLsufferלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofשְׁמִי׃she/MImy name

    For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentחֲנַנְיָהCha/nan/YAAnaniasוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand enteredהַבָּיְתָהhab/BAY/tainto the houseוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand putאֶת־יָדָיוet-ya/DAYVhis handsעָלָיוa/LAYVon himוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאָחִיa/CHImy brotherהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe LordיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַנִּרְאֶהhan/nir/Ewho appearedאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayאֲשֶׁר־בָּאתָa/SHER-BA/tathat you cameבָּהּbaby itשְׁלָחַנִיshe/la/CHA/nisent meלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתִּפָּקַחְנָהtip/pa/KACH/namay be openedעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khayour eyesוְתִמָּלֵאve/tim/ma/LEand you may be filled withרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃RU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spirit

    And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

18. 18

    וּכְרֶגַעu/khe/RE/gaand in a momentנָפְלוּna/fe/LUfellמֵעַלme/ALfromעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesכְּמוֹke/MOsomething likeקַשְׂקַשִּׂיםkas/kas/SIMscalesוַתִּפָּקַחְנָהvat/tip/pa/KACH/naand they were openedפִּתְאֹםpit/OMsuddenlyוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseוַיִּטָּבֵל׃vay/yit/ta/VELand was baptized

    And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאכַלvay/YO/khaland he ateלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוַיֶּחֱזָקvay/ye/che/ZAKand grew strongוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand stayedשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulיָמִיםya/MIMdaysאֲחָדִיםa/cha/DIMsomeעִם־הַתַּלְמִידִיםim-hat/tal/mi/DIMwith the disciplesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereבְּדַמָּשֶׂק׃be/Dam/MA/sekin Damascus

    And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

20. 20

    וַיְמַהֵרvay/ma/HERand quicklyוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAhe proclaimedבְּבָתֵּיbe/vat/TEin the houses ofהַכְּנֶסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyאֶת־הַמָּשִׁיחַet-Ham/ma/SHI/achthe Messiahלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכִּי־הוּאki-huthat heבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godהוּא׃huis

    And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

21. 21

    וַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand marveledכׇל־הַשֹּׁמְעִיםkhol-hash/shom/IMall who heardוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהֲלֹאha/LOis notזֶהzethisהוּאhuheאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֶאֱבִידhe/e/VIDdestroyedבִּירוּשָׁלַיִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemאֶת־קֹרְאֵיet-kor/Ethose who call onהַשֵּׁםhash/SHEMthe nameהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand for the sake ofזֹאתzotthisבָּאbahe cameהֵנָּהHEN/nahereלַהֲבִיאָםla/ha/vi/AMto bring themאֲסוּרִיםa/su/RIMboundלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִים׃hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priests

    But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

22. 22

    וְשָׁאוּלve/Sha/ULand Saulהָיָהha/YAwasהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoingוְחָזֵקve/cha/ZEKand growing strongוַיָּהׇםvay/YA/homand he confoundedאֶת־הַיְּהוּדִיםet-Hay/ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsיֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEinhabitants ofדַמֶּשֶׂקDam/ME/sekDamascusבְּהוֹכִיחוֹbe/ho/khi/CHOin his provingכִּי־זֶהki-zethat thisהוּאhuisהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּי־אָרְכוּ־לוֹki-a/re/KHU-lowhen were long for himשָׁםshamthereהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysוַיִּוָּעֲצוּvay/yiv/va/a/TSUand consultedהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherלַהֲמִיתוֹ׃la/ha/mi/TOto kill him

    And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

24. 24

    וַיִּוָּדַעvay/yiv/va/DAand became knownלְשָׁאוּלle/Sha/ULto Saulאָרְבָּםar/BAMtheir ambushוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand theyשָׁמְרוּsha/me/RUguardedאֶת־הַשְּׁעָרִיםet-hash/she/a/RIMthe gatesיוֹמָםyo/MAMdayוָלַיְלָהva/LAY/laand nightלַהֲמִיתוֹ׃la/ha/mi/TOto kill him

    But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

    וַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand tookאֹתוֹo/TOhimהַתַּלְמִידִיםhat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciplesלַיְלָהLAY/laby nightוַיּוֹרִידֻהוּvay/yo/ri/du/HUand let him downבַסַּלvas/SALin a basketבְּעַדbe/ADthroughהַחוֹמָה׃ha/cho/MAthe wall

    Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּבוֹאke/VOwhen cameשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulיְרוּשָׁלַיְמָהYe/ru/sha/LAY/mato Jerusalemוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand he soughtלְהִלָּוֹתle/hil/la/VOTto joinאֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִיםel-hat/tal/mi/DIMto the disciplesוַיִּירְאוּvay/yi/re/Uand were afraidכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themמִפָּנָיוmip/pa/NAYVof himוְלֹאve/LOand notהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nudid they believeכִּי־תַלְמִידki-tal/MIDthat a discipleהוּא׃huhe was

    And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֹתוֹo/TOhimבַּר־נַבָּאBar-nab/BABarnabasוַיְבִיאֵהוּvay/vi/E/huand brought himאֶל־הַשְּׁלִיחִיםel-hash/she/li/CHIMto the apostlesוַיְסַפֵּרvay/sap/PERand recountedלָהֶםla/HEMto themאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־רָאָהet-a/SHER-ra/Ahow he sawבַדֶּרֶךְvad/DE/rekhin the wayאֶת־הָאָדוֹןet-ha/a/DONthe Lordוְכִיve/KHIand thatהוּאhuheדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand howהִשְׁמִיעַhish/MI/ahe proclaimedבְּאֹמֶץbe/O/metsboldlyבְּדַמֶּשֶׂקbe/Dam/ME/sekat Damascusבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasאִתָּםit/TAMwith themיוֹצֵאyo/TSEgoing outוָבָאva/VAand coming inבִּירוּשָׁלָיִם׃bI/ru/sha/LA/yimat Jerusalem

    And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he proclaimedבְּאֹמֶץbe/O/metsboldlyבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיִּתְוַכַּחvay/yit/vak/KACHand he arguedגַּםgamalsoעִם־הַיְּהוּדִיםim-Hay/ye/hu/DIMwith the Jewsהַיְּוָנִיםhay/Ye/va/NIMthe Greekוְהֵםve/HEMand theyזָמְמוּza/me/MUthey plottedלַהֲמִיתוֹ׃la/ha/mi/TOto slay him

    And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardהָאַחִיםha/a/CHIMthe brothersוַיּוֹרִידוּvay/yo/RI/duand they brought downאֹתוֹo/TOhimלְקֵיסַרְיָהle/Ke/sar/YAto Caesareaוַיְשַׁלְּחֻהוּvay/shal/le/chu/HUand sent himאֶל־טַרְסוֹס׃el-Tar/SOSto Tarsus

    Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cæsarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceלַקְּהִלּוֹתlak/ke/hil/LOTfor the churchesבְּכׇל־מְקֹמוֹתbe/KHOL-me/ko/MOTin all the places ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudaeaוְהַגָּלִילve/hag/Ga/LILand Galileeוְשֹׁמְרוֹןve/Shom/RONand Samariaוַתִּבָּנֶינָהvat/tib/ba/NE/naand they were built upוַתִּתְהַלַּכְנָהvat/tit/hal/LAKH/naand walkedבְּיִרְאַתbe/yir/ATin the fear ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוַתִּרְבֶּינָהvat/tir/BE/naand multipliedבְּנֶחָמַתbe/ne/cha/MATin the comfort ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃RU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spirit

    Then had the churches rest throughout all Judæa and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּסְבֹבbis/VOVas went aroundפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterבְּכׇל־הַמְּקֹמוֹתbe/KHOL-ham/me/ko/MOTthrough all the placesוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he went downגַּםgamalsoאֶל־הַקְּדוֹשִׁיםel-hak/ke/do/SHIMto the holy onesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָשְׁבוּya/she/VUdweltבְּלֹד׃be/LODat Lydda

    And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

    וַיִּמְצָא־שָׁםvay/yim/TSA-shamand he found thereאִישׁisha manשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameאֲנִיַּסA/niy/YASAeneasוְהוּאve/HUand heשֹׁכֵבsho/KHEVlyingעַל־מִשְׁכָּבוֹal-mish/ka/VOhis bedזֶהzethisשְׁמֹנֶהshe/mo/NEeightשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsוְהוּאve/HUand heנְכֵהne/KHEstricken ofאֵבָרִים׃e/va/RIMlimbs

    And there he found a certain man named Æneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterאֲנִיַּסA/niy/YASAeneasרְפָאֲךָre/fa/a/KHAheals youיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahקוּםkumariseהַצַּעhats/TSAmakeאֶת־מִטָּתְךָet-mit/ta/te/KHAyour bedאַתָּהat/TAyourselfוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he roseכְּרָגַע׃ke/RA/gaat once

    And Peter said unto him, Æneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

35. 35

    וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand sawאוֹתוֹo/TOhimכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיkol-yosh/VEall the inhabitants ofלֹדLodLyddaוְהַשָּׁרוֹןve/hash/Sha/RONand Sharonוַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUand they turnedאֶל־הָאָדוֹן׃el-ha/a/DONto the Lord

    And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

36. 36

    וְתַלְמִידָהve/tal/mi/DAand a discipleבְּיָפוֹbe/Ya/FOat Joppaוּשְׁמָהּu/she/MAand her nameטָבִיתָאTa/vi/TATabithaתַּרְגּוּמוֹtar/gu/MOits translationצְבִיָּהTse/viy/YADorcasוְהִיאve/HIand sheמְלֵאָהme/le/Afull ofמַעֲשִׂיםma/a/SIMworksטוֹבִיםto/VIMgoodוּצְדָקוֹתu/tse/da/KOTand charitiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂתָה׃a/SA/tashe did

    Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

37. 37

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseוַתֶּחֱלֶהvat/te/che/LEand she fell sickוַתָּמֹתvat/ta/MOTand she diedוַיִּרְחֲצוּvay/yir/cha/TSUand they washedאֹתָהּo/TAherוַיְשִׂימוּהָvay/si/mu/HAand laid herבַּעֲלִיָּה׃ba/a/liy/YAin an upper room

    And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

38. 38

    וְלֹדve/LODand Lyddaקְרוֹבָהke/ro/VAnearהִיאhiisלְיָפוֹle/Ya/FOto Joppaוַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardהַתַּלְמִידִיםhat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciplesכִּיkithatפֶטְרוֹסFet/ROSPeterשָׁםshamwas thereוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand they sentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוַיִּפְצְרוּ־בוֹvay/yif/tse/RU-voand urged himלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotהֵעָצֵלhe/a/TSELto hesitateלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORto passאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMto them

    And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

39. 39

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand roseפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאִתָּםit/TAMwith themוּבְבֹאוֹu/ve/vo/Oand when he cameהֶעֱלֻהוּhe/e/lu/HUthey brought him upאֶל־הָעֲלִיָּהel-ha/a/liy/YAinto the upper chamberוַתִּגַּשְׁנָהvat/tig/gash/NAand came nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכׇּל־הָאַלְמָנוֹתkol-ha/al/ma/NOTall the widowsבּוֹכִיּוֹתbo/khiy/YOTweepingוּמַרְאוֹתu/mar/OTand showingלוֹloto himאֵת־הַכֻּתֳּנֹתet-hak/kut/to/NOTthe tunicsוְאֵתve/ETandהַבְּגָדִיםhab/be/ga/DIMthe garmentsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשְׂתָהa/se/TAmadeצְבִיָּהTse/viy/YADorcasבְּעוֹדָהּbe/o/DAwhile she wasעִמָּהֶן׃im/ma/HENwith them

    Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

40. 40

    וַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand putפֶטְרוֹסFet/ROSPeterאֶת־כֻּלָּםet-kul/LAMall of themהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideוַיִּכְרַעvay/yikh/RAand he kneltעַל־בִּרְכָּיוal-bir/KAYVon his kneesוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand prayedוַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedאֶל־גְּוִיָּתָהּel-ge/viy/ya/TAto the bodyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidטָבִיתָאTa/vi/TATabithaקוּמִיKU/miariseוַתִּפְתַּחvat/tif/TACHand she openedאֶת־עֵינֶיהָet-e/NE/haher eyesוַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand she sawאֶת־פֶטְרוֹסet-Fet/ROSPeterוַתֵּשֶׁב׃vat/TE/shevand she sat

    But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41. 41

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he reached outיָדוֹya/DOhis handוַיָּקֶםvay/YA/kemand raisedאֹתָהּo/TAherוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledאֶת־הַקְּדוֹשִׁיםet-hak/ke/do/SHIMthe holy onesוְאֶת־הָאַלְמָנוֹתve/ET-ha/al/ma/NOTand the widowsוַיַּעֲמֵדvay/ya/a/MEDand he presentedאֹתָהּo/TAherחַיָּהchay/YAaliveלִפְנֵיהֶם׃lif/ne/HEMbefore them

    And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

42. 42

    וַיִּוָּדַעvay/yiv/va/DAand became knownהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterבְּכׇל־יָפוֹbe/KHOL-ya/FOthroughout all Joppaוַיַּאֲמִינוּvay/ya/a/MI/nuand believedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyבָּאָדוֹן׃ba/a/DONin the Lord

    And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

43. 43

    וַיּוֹאֶלvay/YO/eland he consentedלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto stayבְּיָפוֹbe/Ya/FOin Joppaיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyעִם־בּוּרְסִיim-bur/SIwith a tannerאֶחָדe/CHADoneוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameשִׁמְעוֹן׃Shim/ONSimon

    And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.
