1. 1

   וְשָׁאוּלAnd-Saulגַּם־הוּאalsoהָיָהwasרֹצֶהconsentingבַהֲרֵגָתוֹunto-his-death.וַתְּהִיAnd-there-wasבַּיּוֹםat-timeהַהוּאthatרְדִיפָהa-persecutionגְדוֹלָהgreatעַל־הַקְּהִילָּהagainst-the-churchאֲשֶׁרwhich-wasבִּירוּשָׁלָיִםat-Jerusalem;וַיָּפֻצוּand-they-were-scattered-abroadכֻלָּםallבְּעָרֵיthroughout-the-regions-ofיְהוּדָהJudaeaוְשֹׁמְרוֹןand-Samaria,לְבַדexceptמִן־הַשְּׁלִיחִים׃the-apostles.

   And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.

   וַאֲנָשִׁיםAnd-menיִרְאֵיdevout-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodנָשְׂאוּcarriedאֶת־אִסְטְפָנוֹסStephenוַיִּקְבְּרֻהוּto-his-burial,וַיִּסְפְּדוּand-made-lamentationעָלָיוover-himמִסְפֵּדa-lamentationגָּדוֹל׃great.

   And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

3. 3

   וְשָׁאוּלAs-for-Saul,הֶחֱרִיבhe-made-havoc-ofאֶת־הַקְּהִילָּהthe-church,וַיְשׁוֹטֵטenteringבַּבָּתִּיםinto-every-house,וַיִּסְחַבand-halingמִשָּׁםfrom-thenceאֲנָשִׁיםmenוְנָשִׁיםand-womenוַיַּסְגִּירֵםcommitted-themלַכֶּלֶא׃to-prison.

   As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

4. 4

   וְהַנְּפוֹצִיםTherefore-they-that-were-scattered-abroadעָבְרוּwentבָאָרֶץevery-whereוַיְבָשְּׂרוּpreachingאֶת־הַדָּבָר׃the-word.

   Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

   וּפִילִפּוֹסThen-Philipיָרַדwent-downאֶל־עִירto-the-city-ofשֹׁמְרוֹןSamaria,וַיַּכְרֵזand-preachedלָהֶםunto-themאֶת־הַמָּשִׁיחַ׃Christ.

   Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

   וַיַּקְשֵׁבAnd-gave-heedהֲמוֹןthe-multitude-ofהָעָםthe-peopleלֵבwith-heartאֶחָדoneאֶל־אִמְרֵיunto-those-things-which-spakeפִילִפּוֹסPhilip,בְּשֹׁמְעָםhearingוּבִרְאוֹתָםand-seeingאֶת־הָאֹתוֹתthe-miraclesאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂה׃he-did.

   And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

   כִּיForרַבִּיםmanyהָיוּwereאֲחוּזֵיpossessed-withרוּחוֹתspiritsהַטֻּמְאָהunclean,וְהָרוּחוֹתand-the-spiritsיָצְאוּcame-outמֵהֶםof-them,צֹעֲקוֹתcryingצְעָקָהwith-voiceגְדוֹלָהloud:וְרַבִּיםand-manyנְכֵיtaken-with-palsies-ofאֵבָרִיםlimbs,וּפִסְחִיםand-that-were-lame,וְנִרְפָּאוּ׃were-healed.

   For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

8. 8

   וַתְּהִיAnd-there-wasשִׂמְחָהjoyגְדוֹלָהgreatבָּעִירin-cityהַהִיא׃that.

   And there was great joy in that city.

9. 9

   וְאִישׁBut-a-manאֶחָדcertain,וּשְׁמוֹcalledשִׁמְעוֹןSimon,הָיָהwasמִלְּפָנִיםbeforetimeבָּעִירin-the-same-cityמְכַשֵּׁףusing-sorcery,וּמַבְהִילand-bewitchingאֶת־עַםthe-people-ofשֹׁמְרוֹןSamaria,בְּאׇמְרוֹgiving-outעַל־נַפְשׁוֹof-himselfכִּיthatגָדוֹלsome-great-oneהוּא׃he-was:

   But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

10. 10

    וְכֻלָּםAnd-they-allהִקְשִׁיבוּgave-heedאֵלָיוto-him,מִקְּטַנָּםfrom-the-leastוְעַד־גְּדוֹלָםto-the-greatest,לֵאמֹרsaying,זֶהThis-manהוּאisגְּבוּרַתthe-power-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהַגְּדוֹלָה׃the-great.

    To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

11. 11

    וַיַּקְשִׁיבוּAnd-they-had-regardאֵלָיוto-him,עַל־הֱיוֹתוֹbecause-that-he-hadמַבְהִילbewitchedאוֹתָםthemבִּכְשָׁפָיוwith-sorceriesיָמִיםtimeרַבִּים׃of-long.

    And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

12. 12

    וַיְהִיBut-it-came-to-passכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenהֶאֱמִינוּthey-believedלְפִילִפּוֹסPhilipבְּבַשְׂרוֹpreachingאֶת־מַלְכוּתthe-things-concerning-the-kingdom-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וְאֶת־שֵׁםand-the-name-ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChrist,וַיִּטָּבְלוּthey-were-baptized,אֲנָשִׁיםboth-menוְנָשִׁים׃and-women.

    But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

13. 13

    וַיַּאֲמֵןThen-believedשִׁמְעוֹןSimonגַּם־הוּאhimself-also:וַיִּטָּבֵלand-when-he-was-baptized,וַיִּדְבַּקhe-continuedבְּפִילִפּוֹסwith-Philip,וַיַּרְאbeholdingאֶת־הָאֹתוֹתthe-miraclesוְהַמֹּפְתִיםand-signsאֲשֶׁרwhichנַעֲשׂוּwere-done,וַיִּתְמָהּ׃and-wondered.

    Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּNow-when-heardהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe-apostlesאֲשֶׁרwhich-wereבִּירוּשָׁלַיִםat-Jerusalemכִּי־קִבְּלָהthat-had-receivedשֹׁמְרוֹןSamariaאֶת־דְּבַרthe-word-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיִּשְׁלְחוּthey-sentאֲלֵיהֶםunto-themאֶת־פֶּטְרוֹסPeterוְאֶת־יוֹחָנָן׃and-John:

    Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

15. 15

    וַיֵּרְדוּWho-when-they-were-come-downשָׁמָּהthither,וַיִּתְפַּלֲלוּprayedבַעֲדָםfor-them,אֲשֶׁרthatיְקַבְּלוּthey-might-receiveאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃the-Holy-Ghost:

    Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

16. 16

    כִּיForהָרוּחַheלֹא־צָלְחָהwas-fallen-notעַד־עַתָּהas-yetעַל־אֶחָדupon-anyמֵהֶםof-them:וְהֵםand-theyרַק־נִטְבָּלִיםonly-were-baptizedלְשֵׁםin-the-name-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus.)

    (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

17. 17

    וַיִּסְמְכוּThen-laid-theyאֶת־יְדֵיהֶםtheir-handsעֲלֵיהֶםon-them,וַיְקַבְּלוּand-they-receivedאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃the-Holy-Ghost.

    Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

18. 18

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבִּרְאוֹתwhen-sawשִׁמְעוֹןSimonכִּיthatנִתַּןwas-givenרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostבִּסְמִיכַתthrough-laying-on-ofיְדֵיthe-hands-ofהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe-apostles,וַיָּבֵאhe-offeredלִפְנֵיהֶםthemכָּסֶף׃money,

    And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמַרSaying,תְּנוּ־נָאGive,-I-pray,גַם־לִיme-alsoשׇׁלְטָןpowerכַּשָּׁלְטָןas-powerהַזֶּהthis,אֲשֶׁרthatיְקַבֵּלhe-may-receiveאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostכֹּלon-whomsoeverאֲשֶׁר־אָשִׂיםI-layעָלָיוupon-himאֶת־יָדָי׃my-hands.

    Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרBut-saidאֵלָיוunto-him,פֶּטְרוֹסPeterכַּסְפְּךָYour-moneyיְהִיbeאִתְּךָwith-youלַאֲבַדּוֹןto-perdition,יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרthatאָמַרְתָּyou-have-thoughtלִקְנוֹתmay-be-purchasedבִּמְחִירwith-moneyאֶת־מַתַּתthe-gift-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21. 21

    אֵין־לְךָYou-have-neitherחֵלֶקpartוְגוֹרָלnor-lotבַּדָּבָרin-matterהַזֶּהthis:כִּיforלְבָבְךָyour-heartאֵינֶנּוּis-notיָשָׁרrightלִפְנֵיin-the-sight-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

22. 22

    וְעַתָּהthereforeשׁוּבRepentמֵרָעָתְךָof-your-wickednessזֹאתthis,וְהִתְחַנֵּןand-prayאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,אוּלַיif-perhapsתִּסָּלַחmay-be-forgivenלְךָyouמְזִמַּתthe-thought-ofלְבָבֶךָ׃yours-heart.

    Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

23. 23

    כִּי־רֹאֶהFor-perceiveאָנֹכִיIכִּי־בָאתָthat-you-are-comeבִּידֵיinto-the-hands-ofמְרוֹרַתthe-gall-ofרוֹשׁbitterness,וְחַרְצֻבּוֹתand-the-bond-ofרָשַׁע׃iniquity.

    For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

24. 24

    וַיַּעַןThen-answeredשִׁמְעוֹןSimon,וַיֹּאמַרand-said,הַעְתִּירוּPrayאַתֶּםyouבַּעֲדִיfor-meאֶל־הָאָדוֹןto-the-Lord,לְבִלְתִּי־בוֹאthat-come-notעָלַיupon-meדָּבָרthingמִכֹּלnone-of-theseאֲשֶׁרwhichאֲמַרְתֶּם׃you-have-spoken.

    Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

25. 25

    וְהֵמָּהAnd-they,הֵעִידוּwhen-they-had-testifiedוְדִבְּרוּand-preachedאֶת־דְּבָרthe-word-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lord,וַיָּשׁוּבוּreturnedיְרוּשָׁלָיִםto-Jerusalem,וַיְבַשְּׂרוּand-preachedאֶת־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-gospelבִּכְפָרִיםin-villagesרַבִּיםmanyאֲשֶׁרofלַשֹּׁמְרוֹנִים׃the-Samaritans.

    And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

26. 26

    וַיְדַבֵּרAnd-spakeמַלְאַךְ־יְהוָֹהthe-angel-of-the-Lordאֶל־פִילִפּוֹסunto-Philip,לֵאמֹרsaying,קוּםArise,לֵךְand-goהַנֶּגְבָּהtoward-the-southעַל־הַדֶּרֶךְunto-the-wayהַיֹּרֶדֶתthat-goeth-downמִירוּשָׁלַיִםfrom-Jerusalemעַזָּתָהunto-Gaza,וְהִיאwhich-isחֲרֵבָה׃desert.

    And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27. 27

    וַיָּקׇםAnd-he-aroseוַיֵּלַךְand-went:וְהִנֵּהand,-behold,אִישׁa-manכּוּשִׁיof-Ethiopia,סָרִיסan-eunuchוְשַׁלִּיטof-great-authorityלְקַנְדַּקunder-Candaceמַלְכַּת־כּוּשׁqueen-of-the-Ethiopians,וּמְמֻנֶּהwho-had-the-chargeעַל־כׇּל־גְּנָזֶיהָof-all-her-treasure,אֲשֶׁרandעָלָהhad-comeאֶל־יְרוּשָׁלַיִםto-Jerusalemלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת׃for-to-worship,

    And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28. 28

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבְשׁוּבוֹwas-returning,וְהוּאand-heיֹשֵׁבsittingעַל־מֶרְכַּבְתּוֹin-his-chariotוְקֹרֵאreadבְּסֵפֶרin-the-book-ofיְשַׁעְיָהוּEsaiasהַנָּבִיא׃the-prophet.

    Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen-saidהָרוּחַthe-Spiritאֶל־פִילִפּוֹסunto-Philip,גְּשָׁהGo-near,וְהִלָּוֵהand-join-thyselfעַל־הַמֶּרְכָּבָהto-chariotהַזֹּאת׃this.

    Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30. 30

    וַיָּרׇץAnd-ranפִילִפּוֹסPhilipאֵלֶיהָthither-to-it,וַיִּשְׁמַעand-heardאֹתוֹhimקֹרֵאreadבְּסֵפֶרin-the-book-ofיְשַׁעְיָהוּEsaiasהַנָּבִיאthe-prophet,וַיֹּאמֶרand-said,הֲגַםindeedתָּבִיןUnderstandest-youאֶת־אֲשֶׁרwhatאַתָּהyouקוֹרֵא׃readest?

    And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-he-said,וְאֵיכָכָהHowאוּכַלcan-I,וְאֵיןexceptאִישׁsome-manאֲשֶׁרthatיוֹרֵנִיshould-guide-me?וַיְבַקֵּשׁAnd-he-desiredמֵאֵתofפִילִפּוֹסPhilipלַעֲלוֹתthat-he-would-come-upוְלַשֶׁבֶתand-sitאֶצְלוֹ׃with-him.

    And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

32. 32

    וְזֶהAnd-this-wasעִנְיַןthe-place-ofהַכָּתוּבthe-scriptureאֲשֶׁרwhichקָרָאhe-read,כַּשֶּׂהas-a-sheepלַטֶּבַחto-the-slaughterיוּבָלHe-was-led;וּכְרָחֵלand-like-a-lambלִפְנֵיbeforeגּוֹזְזֶיהָhis-shearerנֶאֱלָמָהdumb,וְלֹא־יִפְתַּחso-opened-he-notפִּיו׃his-mouth:

    The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33. 33

    בָּעֹצֶרIn-his-humiliationמִשְׁפָּטוֹhis-judgmentלֻקָּחwas-taken-away:וְאֶת־דּוֹרוֹand-his-generationמִיwhoיְשׂוֹחֵחַshall-declare?כִּיforנִגְזְרוּis-takenמֵאֶרֶץfrom-the-earthחַיָּיו׃his-life.

    In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34. 34

    וַיַּעַןAnd-answeredהַסָּרִיסthe-eunuchוַיֹּאמֶרand-said,אֶל־פִילִפּוֹסPhilip,אֶשְׁאֲלָהI-pray-you,מִמְּךָof-you,עַל־מִיof-whomהַנָּבִיאthe-prophetמְדַבֵּרspeakethאֶת־זֹאתthis?עַל־נַפְשׁוֹof-himself,אוֹorעַל־אִישׁof-manאַחֵר׃some-other?

    And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35. 35

    וַיִּפְתַּחThen-openedפִילִפּוֹסPhilipאֶת־פִּיוhis-mouth,וַיָּחֶלand-beganמִן־הַכָּתוּבat-the-scriptureהַזֶּהsame,וַיְבַשֵּׂרand-preached-untoאוֹתוֹhimאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus.

    Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36. 36

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבְּעׇבְרָםas-they-wentבַּדֶּרֶךְon-their-way,וַיָּבֹאוּthey-cameאֶל־מְקוֹםunto-a-place-ofמָיִםwater:וַיֹּאמֶרand-said,הַסָּרִיסthe-eunuchהִנֵּה־מַיִםSee,-here-is-water;מַה־יִּמְנָעֵנִיwhat-doth-hinder-meמֵהִטָּבֵל׃to-be-baptized?

    And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37. 37

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-said,פִילִפּוֹסPhilipאִם־מַאֲמִיןIf-believestאַתָּהyouבְּכׇל־לְבָבְךָwith-all-yours-heart,מֻתָּר־לָךְyou-mayest.וַיַּעַןAnd-he-answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand-said,אֲנִיIמַאֲמִיןbelieveכִּיthatיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Son-of-Godהוּא׃is.

    And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38. 38

    וַיְצַוAnd-he-commandedלְהַעֲמִידto-stand-stillאֶת־הַמֶּרְכָּבָהthe-chariot:וַיֵּרְדוּand-they-went-downשְׁנֵיהֶםbothאֶל־תּוֹךְintoהַמַּיִםthe-water,פִילִפּוֹסboth-Philipוְהַסָּרִיסand-the-eunuch;וַיַּטְבֵּלand-he-baptizedאוֹתוֹ׃him.

    And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

39. 39

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passכִּיwhenעָלוּthey-were-come-upמִן־הַמַּיִםout-of-the-water,וַיִּשָּׂאcaught-awayרוּחַthe-Spirit-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordאֶת־פִילִפּוֹסPhilip,וְהַסָּרִיסthat-the-eunuchלֹאnoרָאָהוּsaw-himעוֹדmore:וַיֵּלֵךְand-he-wentלְדַרְכּוֹon-his-wayשָׂמֵחַ׃rejoicing.

    And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

40. 40

    וּפִילִפּוֹסBut-Philipנִמְצָאwas-foundבְאַשְׁדּוֹדat-Azotus:וַיַּעֲבֹרand-passing-throughוַיְבַשֵּׂרhe-preachedבְּכׇל־הֶעָרִיםin-all-the-cities,עַד־בֹּאוֹtill-he-cameלְקֵיסַרְיָה׃to-Caesarea.

    But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cæsarea.
