1. 1

   וַיֹּאמֶרThen-saidהַכֹּהֵןthe-priestהַגָּדוֹלhigh,הַאֱמֶתAre-these-thingsדְּבָרָם׃so?

   Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

2. 2

   וַיַּעַןAnd-he-answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand-said,אֲנָשִׁיםMen,אַחִיםbrethren,וְאָבוֹתand-fathers,שְׁמָעוּhearken;אֱלֹהֵיThe-God-ofהַכָּבוֹדgloryנִרְאָהappearedאֶל־אַבְרָהָםunto-Abrahamאָבִינוּour-father,בִּהְיוֹתוֹwhen-he-wasבַּאֲרַםin-AramנַהֲרַיִםNaharaim,טֶרֶםbeforeיֵשֵׁבhe-dweltבְּחָרָן׃in-Charran,

   And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

3. 3

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-saidאֵלָיוunto-him,לֶךְ־לְךָGet-you-outמֵאַרְצְךָof-your-country,וּמִמּוֹלַדְתֶּךָand-from-your-kindred,וּבֹאand-comeאֶל־הָאָרֶץinto-the-landאֲשֶׁרwhichאַרְאֶךָּ׃I-shall-shew-you.

   And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

4. 4

   וַיֵּצֵאThen-came-he-outמֵאֶרֶץof-the-land-ofכַּשְׂדִּיםthe-Chaldaeans,וַיֵּשֶׁבand-dweltבְּחָרָןin-Charran:וְאַחֲרֵיand-afterמוֹתwas-dead,אָבִיוhis-fatherהֶעֱבִירhe-removedאֹתוֹhimמִשָּׁםfrom-thenceאֶל־הָאָרֶץinto-landהַזֹּאתthis,אֲשֶׁרwhereinאַתֶּםyouיֹשְׁבִיםdwellבָּהּin-itכַּיּוֹםnowהַזֶּה׃this-day.

   Then came he out of the land of the Chaldæans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

   וְלֹאAnd-notנָתַןhe-gaveלוֹhimבָּהּin-itנַחֲלָהinheritance,אַף־לֹאno,-not-so-much-asמִדְרַךְto-set-onכַּף־רָגֶלhis-foot:וַיַּבְטַחyet-he-promisedלְתִתָּהּthat-he-would-give-itלַאֲחֻזָּהfor-a-possessionלוֹto-him,וּלְזַרְעוֹand-to-his-seedאַחֲרָיוafter-him,בְּטֶרֶםwhen-as-yetהָיָה־לוֹhe-had-noבֵּן׃child.

   And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

6. 6

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-spakeלוֹto-himאֱלֹהִיםGodכִּי־גֵרThat-a-sojournerיִהְיֶהshould-beזַרְעוֹhis-seedבְּאֶרֶץin-a-landלֹאnotלָהֶםtheir-own;וַעֲבָדוּםand-they-should-bring-them-into-bondage,וְעִנּוּand-entreat-evilאֹתָםthemאַרְבַּעfourמֵאוֹתhundredשָׁנָה׃years.

   And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

7. 7

   וְגַםAnd-alsoאֶת־הַגּוֹיthe-nationאֲשֶׁרto-whomיַעֲבֹדוּthey-shall-be-in-bondageדָּןjudgeאָנֹכִיwill-I,אָמַרsaidאֱלֹהִיםGod:וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןand-after-thatיֵצְאוּshall-they-come-forth,וְיַעַבְדוּנִיand-serve-meבַּמָּקוֹםin-placeהַזֶּה׃this.

   And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

8. 8

   וַיִּתֶּן־לוֹAnd-he-gave-himאֶת־בְּרִיתthe-covenant-ofהַמִּילָהcircumcision:וְכֵןand-soאַבְרָהָםAbrahamהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יִצְחָקIsaac,וַיָּמׇלand-circumcisedאֹתוֹhimבַּיּוֹםthe-dayהַשְּׁמִינִיeighth;וְיִצְחָקand-Isaacהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יַעֲקֹבJacob;וְיַעֲקֹבand-Jacobהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־שְׁנֵיםthe-two-andעָשָׂרtenהָאָבוֹת׃patriarchs.

   And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

9. 9

   וַיְקַנְאוּAnd-moved-with-envy,הָאָבוֹתthe-patriarchs,בְּיוֹסֵףagainst-Josephוַיִּמְכְּרוּsoldאוֹתוֹhimמִצְרָיְמָהinto-Egypt:וֵאלֹהִיםbut-Godהָיָהwasעִמּוֹ׃with-him,

   And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

10. 10

    וַיַּצִּילֵהוּAnd-delivered-himמִכׇּל־צָרוֹתָיוout-of-all-his-afflictions,וַיִּתֶּן־לוֹand-gave-himחֵןfavorוְחׇכְמָהand-wisdomלִפְנֵיin-the-sight-ofפַרְעֹהPharaohמֶלֶךְking-ofמִצְרָיִםEgypt;וַיְשִׂימֵהוּand-he-made-himשַׁלִּיטgovernorעַל־מִצְרַיִםover-Egyptוְעַלand-overכׇּל־בֵּיתוֹ׃all-his-house.

    And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיNow-there-cameרָעָבa-dearthעַל־כׇּל־אֶרֶץover-all-the-land-ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptוּכְנַעַןand-Chanaan,וְצָרָהand-afflictionגְדוֹלָהgreat:וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּand-our-fathersלֹא־מָצְאוּfound-noאֹכֶל׃sustenance.

    Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

12. 12

    וַיִּשְׁמַעBut-when-heardיַעֲקֹבJacobכִּיthatיֶשׁ־שֶׁבֶרthere-was-cornבְּמִצְרָיִםin-Egypt,וַיִּשְׁלַח־שָׁמָּהhe-sent-out-thitherאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵינוּour-fathersבַּפַּעַםthe-timeהָרִאשׁוֹנָה׃first.

    But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

13. 13

    וּבַפַּעַםAnd-at-the-timeהַשֵּׁנִיתsecondהִתְוַדַּעwas-made-knownיוֹסֵףJosephאֶל־אֶחָיוto-his-brethren;וּמוֹלֶדֶתand-the-kindred-ofיוֹסֵףJosephנִגְלְתָהwas-made-knownלְפַרְעֹה׃unto-Pharaoh.

    And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁלַחThen-sentיוֹסֵףJoseph,וַיִּקְרָאand-calledלְיַעֲקֹבJacobאָבִיוhis-fatherוּלְכׇל־מִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹand-all-his-kindred,שִׁבְעִיםthreescoreוְחָמֵשׁand-fifteenנָפֶשׁ׃souls.

    Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

15. 15

    וַיֵּרֶדSo-went-downיַעֲקֹבJacobמִצְרָיְמָהinto-Egypt,וַיָּמׇתand-died,הוּאhe,וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ׃and-our-fathers,

    So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,

16. 16

    וַיּוּבְאוּAnd-were-carried-overשְׁכֶמָהinto-Sychem,וַיּוּשְׂמוּand-laidבַקֶּבֶרin-the-sepulchreאֲשֶׁרthatקָנָהboughtאַבְרָהָםAbrahamבְּכַסְפּוֹfor-a-sum-of-moneyמִיַּדofבְּנֵי־חֲמוֹרthe-sons-of-Emmorאֲבִיthe-father-ofשְׁכֶם׃Sychem.

    And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיBut-it-came-to-passכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenקׇרְבָהdrew-nighעֵתthe-time-ofהַשְּׁבוּעָהthe-promise,אֲשֶׁרwhichנִשְׁבַּעhad-swornאֱלֹהִיםGodלְאַבְרָהָםto-Abraham,וַיִּגְדַּלgrewהָעָםthe-peopleוַיִּרֶבand-multipliedבְּמִצְרָיִם׃in-Egypt,

    But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

18. 18

    עַדTillכִּי־קָםthat-aroseמֶלֶךְkingאַחֵרanother,אֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָדַעknew-notאֶת־יוֹסֵף׃Joseph.

    Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

19. 19

    וְזֶהThe-sameהִתְחַכֵּםdealt-subtillyלְמִשְׁפַּחְתֵּנוּwith-our-kindred,וַיָּרַעand-evil-entreatedלַאֲבוֹתֵינוּour-fathers,לְהַשְׁלִיךְso-that-they-cast-outאֶת־עֹלֲלֵיהֶםtheir-young-children,לְבִלְתִּיto-the-end-they-might-notהַחֲיוֹתָם׃live.

    The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

20. 20

    בָּעֵתIn-timeהַהִיאwhichנוֹלַדwas-bornמשֶׁהMoses,וַיְהִי־טוֹבand-was-fairלֵאלֹהִיםexceedingly,וַיְהִיand-wasאָמוּןnourished-upבְּבֵיתin-the-house-ofאָבִיוhis-fatherשְׁלֹשָׁהthreeיְרָחִים׃months:

    In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:

21. 21

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרAnd-whenהֻשְׁלַךְhe-was-cast-out,אָסְפָהtook-upאֹתוֹhimבַּת־פַּרְעֹהthe-daughter-of-Pharaoh,וַתְּגַדְּלֵהוּand-nourished-himלָהּfor-her-ownלְבֵן׃son.

    And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

22. 22

    וַיְלֻמַּדAnd-was-learnedמשֶׁהMosesבְּכׇל־חׇכְמַתin-all-the-wisdom-ofמִצְרָיִםthe-Egyptians,וַיְהִיand-wasגִבּוֹרmightyבִּדְבָרִיםin-wordsוּבְמַעֲשִׂים׃and-in-deeds.

    And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

23. 23

    וּבִמְלֹאת־לוֹAnd-when-he-was-fullאַרְבָּעִיםfortyשָׁנָהyears-old,עָלָהit-cameעַל־לִבּוֹinto-his-heartלִפְקֹדto-visitאֶת־אֶחָיוhis-brethrenבְּנֵיthe-children-ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel.

    And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

24. 24

    וַיַּרְאAnd-seeingאִישׁa-manאֶחָדone-of-themמֻכֶּהsmittenחִנָּםwrongfully,וַיּוֹשַׁעhe-defendedלוֹhim,וַיִּקֹּםand-avengedנִקְמַתthe-vengeance-ofהַמֻּכֶּהhim-that-was-oppressed,בְּהַכּוֹתוֹand-smoteאֶת־הַמִּצְרִי׃the-Egyptian:

    And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

25. 25

    וַיַּחֲשֹׁבFor-he-supposedבִּלְבָבוֹin-his-heartכִּיthatיָבִינוּwould-have-understoodאֶחָיוhis-brethrenאֲשֶׁרhow-thatעַל־יָדוֹby-his-handיִתֵּןwould-giveהָאֱלֹהִיםGodלָהֶםthemתְּשׁוּעָהdeliverance:וְהֵםbut-theyלֹאnotהֵבִינוּ׃understood.

    For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

26. 26

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבַּיּוֹםthe-dayהַשֵּׁנִיnextוַיָּבֹאhe-shewed-himselfבְּתוֹכָםunto-themוְהֵםas-theyנִצִּיםstrove,וַיְבַקֵּשׁand-wouldלַעֲשׂוֹתhave-set-themשָׁלוֹםat-one-again,בֵּינֵיהֶםbetween-them,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֲנָשִׁיםSirs,אַחִיםbrethrenאַתֶּםyou-are;וְלָמָּהwhyתַכּוּdo-you-wrongאִישׁoneאֶת־אָחִיו׃to-another?

    And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

27. 27

    וְהַמַּכֶּהBut-he-that-did-wrongאֶת־רֵעֵהוּhis-neighborהֲדָפוֹthrust-him-away,לֵאמֹרsaying,מִיWhoשָׂמְךָmade-youלְאִישׁto-be-a-manשַׂרa-rulerוְשֹׁפֵטand-a-judgeעָלֵינוּ׃over-us?

    But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

28. 28

    הַלְהׇרְגֵנִיWill-you-kill-me,אַתָּהyouאֹמֵרsayest,כַּאֲשֶׁרasהָרַגְתָּyou-diddestאֶתְמֹלyesterdayאֶת־הַמִּצְרִי׃the-Egyptian?

    Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

29. 29

    וַיִּבְרַחThen-fledמשֶׁהMosesעַל־הַדָּבָרat-sayingהַזֶּהthis,וַיְהִי־גֵרand-was-a-strangerבְּאֶרֶץin-the-land-ofמִדְיָןMadian,וַיּוֹלֶדwhere-he-begatשָׁםthereשְׁנֵיtwoבָנִים׃sons.

    Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

30. 30

    וּבִמְלֹאתAnd-when-were-expiredאַרְבָּעִיםfortyשָׁנָהyears,נִרְאָהthere-appearedאֵלָיוto-himמַלְאַךְan-angel-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordבְּמִדְבַּרin-the-wilderness-ofהַרmountסִינַיSinaבְּלַבַּת־אֵשׁin-a-flame-of-fireמִתּוֹךְinהַסְּנֶה׃a-bush.

    And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

31. 31

    וַיַּרְאWhen-saw-itמשֶׁהMoses,וַיִּתְמַהּhe-wonderedעַל־הַמַּרְאֶהat-the-sight:וּבְסוּרוֹand-as-he-drew-nearלִרְאוֹתto-behold-it,וַיְהִי־קוֹלcame-the-voice-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordאֵלָיו׃unto-him,

    When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

32. 32

    אָנֹכִיI-amאֱלֹהֵיthe-God-ofאֲבוֹתֶיךָyour-fathers,אֱלֹהֵיthe-God-ofאַבְרָהָםAbraham,אֱלֹהֵיand-the-God-ofיִצְחָקIsaac,וֵאלֹהֵיand-the-God-ofיַעֲקֹבJacob.וַיֶּחֱרַדThen-trembledמשֶׁהMoses,וַיִּירָאand-durst-notמֵהַבִּיט׃behold.

    Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen-saidאֵלָיוto-himהָאָדוֹןthe-Lord,שַׁלPut-offנְעָלֶיךָyour-shoesמֵעַלfromרַגְלֶיךָyour-feet:כִּיforהַמָּקוֹםthe-placeאֲשֶׁרwhereאַתָּהyouעוֹמֵדstandestעָלָיוwhereonאַדְמַת־קֹדֶשׁholy-groundהוּא׃is.

    Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

34. 34

    רָאֹהI-have-seen,רָאִיתִיI-have-seenאֶת־עֳנִיthe-affliction-ofעַמִּיmy-peopleאֲשֶׁרwhich-isבְּמִצְרַיִםin-Egypt,וְאֶת־נַאֲקָתָםand-their-groaningשָׁמַעְתִּיI-have-heard,וָאֵרֵדand-am-come-downלְהַצִּילָםto-deliver-them.וְעַתָּהAnd-nowלְכָהcome,וְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָI-will-send-youמִצְרָיְמָה׃into-Egypt.

    I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

35. 35

    הוּאThisמשֶׁהMosesאֲשֶׁרwhomכִּחֲשׁוּ־בוֹthey-refused,לֵאמֹרsaying,מִיWhoשָׂמְךָmade-youלְשַׂרa-rulerוְשֹׁפֵטand-a-judge?אֹתוֹthe-sameשָׁלַחdid-sendהָאֱלֹהִיםGodלְשַׂרto-be-a-rulerוְגֹאֵלand-a-delivererבְּיַדby-the-hand-ofהַמַּלְאָךְthe-angelהַנִּרְאֶהwhich-appearedאֵלָיוto-himבַּסְּנֶה׃in-the-bush.

    This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

36. 36

    וְהוּאHeהוֹצִיאָםbrought-them-out,וַיַּעַשׂafter-that-he-had-shewedאֹתוֹתwondersוּמֹפְתִיםand-signsבְּאֶרֶץin-the-land-ofמִצְרַיִםEgypt,וּבְיַם־סוּףand-in-the-Red-sea,וּבַמִדְבָּרand-in-the-wildernessאַרְבָּעִיםfortyשָׁנָה׃years.

    He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

37. 37

    הוּאThis-is-thatמשֶׁהMoses,אֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרsaidאֶל־בְּנֵיunto-the-children-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsrael,נָבִיאA-prophetמִקֶּרֶבofאֲחֵיכֶםyour-brethren,כָּמֹנִיlike-unto-me;יָקִיםshall-raise-upלָכֶםunto-youהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordאֱלֹהֵיכֶםyour-Godאֵלָיוhimתִּשְׁמָעוּן׃shall-you-hear.

    This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

38. 38

    הוּאThis-is-he,אֲשֶׁרthatהָיָהwasבַקָּהָלin-the-churchבַּמִּדְבָּרin-the-wildernessעִם־הַמַּלְאָךְwith-the-angelהַדֹּבֵרwhich-spakeאֵלָיוto-himבְּהַרin-the-mountסִינַיSina,וְעִם־אֲבוֹתֵינוּand-with-our-fathers:וַאֲשֶׁרwhoקִבֵּלreceivedדְּבָרִיםoraclesחַיִּיםthe-livelyלָתֵתto-giveלָנוּ׃unto-us:

    This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

39. 39

    הוּאThis-is-heאֲשֶׁרto-whomאֲבוֹתֵינוּour-fathersלֹאnotאָבוּwouldלִשְׁמֹעַobeyלוֹhim,וַיִּמְאֲסוּbut-thrust-from-themאֹתוֹhim,וּלְבָבָםand-in-their-heartsפָּנָהturned-back-againמִצְרָיְמָה׃into-Egypt,

    To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

40. 40

    וַיֹּאמְרוּSayingאֶל־אַהֲרוֹןunto-Aaron,עֲשֵׂה־לָנוּMake-usאֱלֹהִיםgodsאֲשֶׁרtoיֵלְכוּgoלְפָנֵינוּbefore-us:כִּיforזֶהas-for-thisמשֶׁהMoses,אֲשֶׁרwhichהֶעֱלָנוּbrought-us-outמֵאֶרֶץof-the-land-ofמִצְרַיִםEgypt,לֹאnotיָדַעְנוּwe-wotמֶה־הָיָהwhat-is-becomeלוֹ׃of-him.

    Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

41. 41

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּAnd-they-madeעֵגֶלa-calfבַּיָּמִיםin-daysהָהֵםthose,וַיִּזְבְּחוּand-offeredזְבָחִיםsacrificeלָאֱלִילunto-the-idol,וַיִּשְׂמְחוּand-rejoicedבְּמַעֲשֵׂהin-the-works-ofיְדֵיהֶם׃their-own-hands.

    And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

42. 42

    וַיִּפֶןThen-turnedמֵהֶםfrom-themהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיִּתְּנֵםand-gave-them-upלַעֲבֹדto-worshipאֶת־צְבָאthe-host-ofהַשָּׁמָיִםheaven;כַּכָּתוּבas-it-is-writtenבְּסֵפֶרin-the-book-ofהַנְּבִיאִיםthe-prophets,הַזְּבָחִיםslain-beastsוּמִנְחָהand-sacrificesהִגַּשְׁתֶּם־לִיhave-you-offered-to-meבַמִּדְבָּרin-the-wildernessאַרְבָּעִיםby-the-space-of-fortyשָׁנָהyears,בֵּיתO-you-house-ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel?

    Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

43. 43

    וּנְשָׂאתֶםYea,-you-took-upאֵת־סֻכַּתthe-tabernacle-ofמֹלֶךְMoloch,וְאֶת־כּוֹכַבand-the-star-ofאֱלֹהֵיכֶםyour-godרָמְפָןRemphan,הַצְּלָמִיםfiguresאֲשֶׁרwhichעֲשִׂיתֶםyou-madeלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹתto-worshipלָהֶםthem:וְהִגְלֵיתִיand-I-will-carry-awayאֶתְכֶםyouמֵהָלְאָהbeyondלְבָבֶל׃Babylon.

    Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

44. 44

    מִשְׁכַּןThe-tabernacle-ofהָעֵדוּתwitnessהָיָהhadלַאֲבוֹתֵינוּour-fathersבַּמִּדְבָּרin-the-wilderness,אֲשֶׁרwhichעָשָׂהmadeמשֶׁהMosesכַּתַּבְנִיתaccording-to-the-fashionאֲשֶׁרthatרָאָהhe-had-seen,כַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוָּהhad-appointedאֹתוֹhimהַמְדַבֵּרhe-speakingאֵלָיו׃unto-him.

    Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

45. 45

    וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּWhich-also-our-fathersלְקָחֻהוּtook-it,וְגַם־הֱבִיאֻהוּand-brought-it-inאִתָּםwith-themהֵםthey-that-came-afterוִיהוֹשֻׁעַwith-Jesusבְּרִשְׁתָּםinto-their-possession-ofאֶת־אַרְצוֹתthe-lands-ofהַגּוֹיִםthe-Gentiles,אֲשֶׁרwhomגֵּרַשׁdrave-outאֹתָםthemאֱלֹהִיםGodמִפְּנֵיbefore-the-face-ofאֲבוֹתֵינוּour-fathers,עַד־יְמֵיunto-the-days-ofדָוִד׃David;

    Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

46. 46

    וְהוּאWhoמָצָאfoundחֵןfavorבְּעֵינֵיbeforeאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיִּשְׁאַלand-desiredלִמְצֹאto-findמִשְׁכָּנוֹתa-tabernacleלֵאלֹהֵיfor-the-God-ofיַעֲקֹב׃Jacob.

    Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

47. 47

    וּשְׁלֹמֹהBut-Solomonבָּנָה־לוֹbuilt-himבָיִת׃an-house.

    But Solomon built him an house.

48. 48

    אֲבָלHowbeitהָעֶלְיוֹןthe-most-Highלֹאnotיִשְׁכֹּןdwellethבְּהֵיכָלוֹתin-templesמַעֲשֵׂיmade-withיָדָיִםhands;כַּאֲשֶׁרasאָמַרsaithהַנָּבִיא׃the-prophet,

    Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49. 49

    הַשָּׁמַיִםHeaven-isכִּסְאִיmy-throne,וְהָאָרֶץand-earth-isהֲדֹםthe-footstool-ofרַגְלָיmy-feet:אֵי־זֶהwhatבַיִתhouseאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּבְנוּ־לִיwill-you-build-me?אָמַרsaithהָאָדוֹןthe-Lord:וְאֵי־זֶהor-what-isמָקוֹםthe-place-ofמְנוּחָתִי׃my-rest?

    Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

50. 50

    הֲלֹאHath-notאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהall-these-thingsיָדִי־עָשָׂתָה׃my-hand-made?

    Hath not my hand made all these things?

51. 51

    קְשֵׁיYou-stiff-ofעֹרֶףneckוְעַרְלֵיand-uncircumcised-inלֵבheartוְאׇזְנָיִםand-ears,מַמְרִיםresistingהֱיִיתֶםyou-have-beenתָּמִידalwaysבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghost:כַּאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםas-your-fathers-did,גַּם־אַתֶּם׃so-do-you.

    Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

52. 52

    מִיWhichמֵהַנְּבִיאִיםof-the-prophetsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotרְדָפוּהוּhave-persecuted-himאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםyour-fathers?אַף־הֵמִיתוּand-they-have-slainאֵת־הַמְבַשְּׂרִיםthem-which-shewedמִקֶּדֶםbeforeבִּיאַתof-the-coming-ofהַצַּדִּיקthe-Just-One;אֲשֶׁרof-whomעַתָּהnowהֱיִיתֶםyou-have-beenאַתֶּםyouמוֹסְרָיוhis-betrayersוּמְרַצְּחָיו׃and-his-murderers:

    Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

53. 53

    אַתֶּםyouאֲשֶׁרWhoקִבַּלְתֶּםhave-receivedאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהthe-lawעַל־יְדֵיbyמַלְאֲכוֹתthe-disposition-ofהַמַּלְאָכִיםangels,וְלֹאand-notשְׁמַרְתֶּםhave-keptאוֹתָהּ׃it.

    Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

54. 54

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passכְּשׇׁמְעָםwhen-they-heardאֶת־אֵלֶּהthese-things,וַיִּגָּעthey-were-cutבָּהֶםin-themעַדtoנָפֶשׁthe-heart,וַיַּחַרְקוּand-they-gnashedעָלָיוon-himשִׁנֵּיהֶם׃with-their-teeth.

    When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

55. 55

    וְהוּאBut-he,מָלֵאbeing-full-ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghost,וַיַּבֵּטlooked-up-stedfastlyהַשָּׁמָיְמָהinto-heaven,וַיַּרְאand-sawאֶת־כְּבוֹדthe-glory-ofאֱלֹהִיםGod,וְאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַand-Jesusנִצָּבstandingלִימִיןon-the-right-hand-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God,

    But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

56. 56

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-said,הִנְנִיBehold,-Iרֹאֶהseeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםthe-heavensנִפְתָּחִיםopened,וְאֵתandבֶּן־הָאָדָםthe-Son-of-manנִצָּבstandingלִימִיןon-the-right-hand-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

57. 57

    וַיִּזְעֲקוּThen-they-cried-outקוֹלwith-a-voiceגָּדוֹלloud,וַיַּאַטְמוּand-stoppedאֶת־אׇזְנֵיהֶםtheir-ears,וַיִּתְנַפְּלוּand-ranעָלָיוupon-himכֻּלָּםwith-one-accordיָחַד׃together,

    Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

58. 58

    וַיִּדְחָפֻהוּAnd-cast-himחוּצָהoutלָעִירof-the-city,וַיִּסְקְלוּand-stonedאֹתוֹhimבָּאֲבָנִיםwith-stones:וְהָעֵדִיםand-the-witnessesפָּשְׁטוּlaid-downאֶת־בִּגְדֵיהֶםtheir-clothesלְרַגְלֵיat-the-feet-ofבָּחוּרa-young-manאֶחָדone,וּשְׁמוֹwhose-name-wasשָׁאוּל׃Saul.

    And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

59. 59

    וַיִּסְקְלוּAnd-they-stonedאֶת־אִסְטְפָנוֹסStephen,וְהוּאand-heמְשַׁוֵּעַcalling-upon-God,וְאֹמֵרand-saying,אֲדֹנִיLordיֵשׁוּעַJesus,קַבֵּלreceiveאֶת־רוּחִי׃my-spirit.

    And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60. 60

    וַיִּכְרַעAnd-he-kneeled-downעַל־בִּרְכָּיוupon-his-knees,וַיִּזְעַקand-criedקוֹלwith-a-voiceגָּדוֹלloud,הָאָדוֹןLord,אַל־תִּשְׁמֹרlay-notלָהֶםto-their-chargeאֶת־הַחֵטְאsinהַזֶּהthis.וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passאַחֲרֵיwhenדַבְּרוֹhe-had-saidכַּדָּבָרthe-wordהַזֶּהthis,וַיִּישָׁן׃he-fell-asleep.

    And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
