   Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

   And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֶךְ־לְךָlekh-le/KHAgo for yourselfמֵאַרְצְךָme/ar/tse/KHAfrom your landוּמִמּוֹלַדְתְּךָu/mim/mo/lad/te/KHAand from your kindredוּבֹאu/VOand comeאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאַרְאֶךָּ׃ar/EK/kaI will show you

   And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

   וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofכַּשְׂדִּיםkaS/DIMthe Chaldaeansוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltבְּחָרָןbe/Cha/RANin Charranוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterמוֹתmotthe death ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherהֶעֱבִירhe/e/VIRHe movedאֹתוֹo/TOhimמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאַתֶּםat/TEMyouיֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMdwellבָּהּbain itכַּיּוֹםkay/YOMas the dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   Then came he out of the land of the Chaldæans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notנָתַןna/TANdid He giveלוֹlohimבָּהּbain itנַחֲלָהna/cha/LAan inheritanceאַף־לֹאaf-lonot evenמִדְרַךְmid/RAKHthe tread ofכַּף־רָגֶלkaf-RA/gelthe sole of a footוַיַּבְטַחvay/yav/TACHand He promisedלְתִתָּהּle/tit/TAto give itלַאֲחֻזָּהla/a/chuz/ZAfor a possessionלוֹloto himוּלְזַרְעוֹu/le/zar/Oand to his seedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeהָיָה־לוֹha/YA-lohe hadבֵּן׃bena son

   And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכִּי־גֵרki-gerthat a sojournerיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beזַרְעוֹzar/Ohis seedבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin a landלֹאlonotלָהֶםla/HEMtheirsוַעֲבָדוּםva/a/va/DUMand they will enslave themוְעִנּוּve/in/NUand afflictאֹתָםo/TAMthemאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredשָׁנָה׃sha/NAyears

   And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

   וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־הַגּוֹיet-hag/GOYthe nationאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיַעֲבֹדוּya/a/VO/duthey will serveדָּןdanjudgeאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIwill Iאָמַרa/MARsaidאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןve/a/cha/RE-khenand after thisיֵצְאוּyets/Uthey will come outוְיַעַבְדוּנִיve/ya/av/DU/niand serve Meבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.

   וַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-loand He gave himאֶת־בְּרִיתet-be/RITthe covenant ofהַמִּילָהham/mi/LAcircumcisionוְכֵןve/KHENand soאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־יִצְחָקet-Yits/CHAKIsaacוַיָּמׇלvay/YA/moland circumcisedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁמִינִיhash/she/mi/NIeighthוְיִצְחָקve/Yits/CHAKand Isaacהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobוְיַעֲקֹבve/Ya/a/KOVand Jacobהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרet-she/NEM-a/SARthe twelveהָאָבוֹת׃ha/a/VOTpatriarchs

   And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

   וַיְקַנְאוּvay/kan/Uand were jealousהָאָבוֹתha/a/VOTthe patriarchsבְּיוֹסֵףbe/Yo/SEFagainst Josephוַיִּמְכְּרוּvay/yim/ke/RUand soldאוֹתוֹo/TOhimמִצְרָיְמָהMits/RAY/mainto Egyptוֵאלֹהִיםve/lo/HIMbut Godהָיָהha/YAwasעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

   And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

10. 10

    וַיַּצִּילֵהוּvay/yats/tsi/LE/huand He delivered himמִכׇּל־צָרוֹתָיוmik/KOL-tsa/ro/TAYVout of all his afflictionsוַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-loand He gave himחֵןchenfavorוְחׇכְמָהve/chokh/MAand wisdomלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeפַרְעֹהFar/OPharaohמֶלֶךְME/lekhking ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוַיְשִׂימֵהוּvay/si/ME/huand he made himשַׁלִּיטshal/LITrulerעַל־מִצְרַיִםal-Mits/RA/yimover Egyptוְעַלve/ALand overכׇּל־בֵּיתוֹ׃kol-be/TOall his house

    And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasרָעָבra/AVa famineעַל־כׇּל־אֶרֶץal-kol-E/retsover all the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוּכְנַעַןu/Khe/NA/anand Chanaanוְצָרָהve/tsa/RAand distressגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַאֲבוֹתֵינוּva/a/vo/TE/nuand our fathersלֹא־מָצְאוּlo-ma/tse/Udid not findאֹכֶל׃O/khelfood

    Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.

12. 12

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobכִּיkithatיֶשׁ־שֶׁבֶרyesh-SHE/verthere was grainבְּמִצְרָיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptוַיִּשְׁלַח־שָׁמָּהvay/yish/LACH-SHAM/maand he sent thereאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵינוּet-a/vo/TE/nuour fathersבַּפַּעַםbap/PA/amthe timeהָרִאשׁוֹנָה׃ha/ri/sho/NAfirst

    But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

13. 13

    וּבַפַּעַםu/vap/PA/amand at the timeהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITsecondהִתְוַדַּעhit/vad/DAmade himself knownיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶל־אֶחָיוel-e/CHAYVto his brothersוּמוֹלֶדֶתu/mo/LE/detand the family ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephנִגְלְתָהnig/le/TAwas made knownלְפַרְעֹה׃le/Far/Oto Pharaoh

    And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלְיַעֲקֹבLe/ya/a/KOVJacobאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוּלְכׇל־מִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹu/le/KHOL-mish/pach/TOand all his familyשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyוְחָמֵשׁve/cha/MESHand fiveנָפֶשׁ׃NA/feshsouls

    Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

15. 15

    וַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand went downיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobמִצְרָיְמָהMits/RAY/mainto Egyptוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedהוּאhuheוַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ׃va/a/vo/TE/nuand our fathers

    So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,

16. 16

    וַיּוּבְאוּvay/yuv/Uand they were broughtשְׁכֶמָהShe/KHE/mainto Sychemוַיּוּשְׂמוּvay/yus/MUand were putבַקֶּבֶרvak/KE/verin the tombאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatקָנָהka/NAboughtאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamבְּכַסְפּוֹbe/khas/POwith his moneyמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofבְּנֵי־חֲמוֹרbe/NE-cha/MORthe sons of Emmorאֲבִיa/VIthe father ofשְׁכֶם׃She/KHEMSychem

    And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenקׇרְבָהkor/VAdrew nearעֵתetthe time ofהַהַבְטָחָהha/hav/ta/CHAthe promiseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamוַיִּגְדַּלvay/yig/DALand grewהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיִּרֶבvay/YI/revand multipliedבְּמִצְרָיִם׃be/Mits/RA/yimin Egypt

    But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

18. 18

    עַדaduntilכִּי־קָםki-kamaroseמֶלֶךְME/lekha kingאַחֵרa/CHERanotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAdid not knowאֶת־יוֹסֵף׃et-Yo/SEFJoseph

    Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

19. 19

    וְזֶהve/ZEand this oneהִתְחַכֵּםhit/chak/KEMdealt shrewdlyלְמִשְׁפַּחְתֵּנוּle/mish/pach/te/NUwith our familyוַיָּרַעvay/YA/raand did evilלַאֲבוֹתֵינוּla/a/vo/TE/nuour fathersלְהַשְׁלִיךְle/hash/LIKHto throw outאֶת־עֹלֲלֵיהֶםet-o/la/le/HEMtheir infantsלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso as notהַחֲיוֹתָם׃ha/cha/yo/TAMto let them live

    The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.

20. 20

    בָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatנוֹלַדno/LADwas bornמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוַיְהִי־טוֹבvay/HI-tovand he was goodלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godוַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasאָמוּןa/MUNnursedבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeיְרָחִים׃ye/ra/CHIMmonths

    In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:

21. 21

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand whenהֻשְׁלַךְhush/LAKHhe was thrown outאָסְפָהa/se/FAtook inאֹתוֹo/TOhimבַּת־פַּרְעֹהbat-Par/Othe daughter of Pharaohוַתְּגַדְּלֵהוּvat/te/gad/de/le/HUand raised himלָהּlafor herselfלְבֵן׃le/VENas a son

    And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.

22. 22

    וַיְלֻמַּדvay/lum/MADand was taughtמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesבְּכׇל־חׇכְמַתbe/KHOL-chokh/MATin all the wisdom ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasגִבּוֹרgib/BORmightyבִּדְבָרִיםbid/va/RIMin wordsוּבְמַעֲשִׂים׃u/ve/ma/a/SIMand in deeds

    And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.

23. 23

    וּבִמְלֹאת־לוֹu/vim/LOT-loand when were fulfilled for himאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsעָלָהa/LAit came upעַל־לִבּוֹal-lib/BOon his heartלִפְקֹדlif/KODto visitאֶת־אֶחָיוet-e/CHAYVhis brothersבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.

24. 24

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawאִישׁisha manאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֻכֶּהmuk/KEbeing struckחִנָּםchin/NAMwithout causeוַיּוֹשַׁעvay/YO/shaand he savedלוֹlohimוַיִּקֹּםvay/yik/KOMand avengedנִקְמַתnik/MATthe vengeance ofהַמֻּכֶּהham/muk/KEthe one struckבְּהַכּוֹתוֹbe/hak/ko/TOby strikingאֶת־הַמִּצְרִי׃et-Ham/mits/RIthe Egyptian

    And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:

25. 25

    וַיַּחֲשֹׁבvay/ya/cha/SHOVand he thoughtבִּלְבָבוֹbil/va/VOin his heartכִּיkithatיָבִינוּya/VI/nuwould understandאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brothersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOby his handיִתֵּןyit/TENwould giveהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלָהֶםla/HEMthemתְּשׁוּעָהte/shu/Adeliveranceוְהֵםve/HEMand theyלֹאlonotהֵבִינוּ׃he/VI/nudid understand

    For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

26. 26

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIsecondוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameבְּתוֹכָםbe/to/KHAMamong themוְהֵםve/HEMand theyנִצִּיםnits/TSIMwere fightingוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand he soughtלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto makeשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMbetween themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areוְלָמָּהve/LAM/maand whyתָרֵעוּta/re/Udo you wrongאִישׁisheach manלְאָחִיו׃le/a/CHIVto his brother

    And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?

27. 27

    וְהַמֵּרַעve/ham/me/RAand the one who wrongedלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto his neighborהֲדָפוֹha/da/FOpushed himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמִיmiwhoשָׂמְךָsa/me/KHAset youלְאִישׁle/ISHas a manשַׂרsara rulerוְשֹׁפֵטve/sho/FETand a judgeעָלֵינוּ׃a/LE/nuover us

    But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

28. 28

    הַלְהׇרְגֵנִיhal/hor/ge/NIto kill meאַתָּהat/TAdo youאֹמֵרo/MERsayכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהָרַגְתָּha/RAG/tayou killedאֶתְמֹלet/MOLyesterdayאֶת־הַמִּצְרִי׃et-Ham/mits/RIthe Egyptian

    Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?

29. 29

    וַיִּבְרַחvay/yiv/RACHand fledמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesעַל־הַדָּבָרal-had/da/VARat the wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיְהִי־גֵרvay/HI-gerand he was a sojournerבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִדְיָןMid/YANMadianוַיּוֹלֶדvay/YO/ledand he fatheredשָׁםshamthereשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoבָנִים׃va/NIMsons

    Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

30. 30

    וּבִמְלֹאתu/vim/LOTand when were fulfilledאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsנִרְאָהnir/Aappearedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַלְאַךְmal/AKHan angel ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDבְּמִדְבַּרbe/mid/BARin the wilderness ofהַרharmountסִינַיSi/NAYSinaבְּלַבַּת־אֵשׁbe/lab/BAT-eshin a flame of fireמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofהַסְּנֶה׃has/se/NEthe bush

    And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

31. 31

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוַיִּתְמַהּvay/yit/MAand he marveledעַל־הַמַּרְאֶהal-ham/mar/Eat the sightוּבְגִשְׁתּוֹu/ve/gish/TOand as he drew nearלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeוַיְהִי־קוֹלvay/HI-koland there was the voice ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

32. 32

    לֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבוֹתֶיךָa/vo/TE/khayour fathersאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוַיֶּחֱרַדvay/ye/che/RADand trembledמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוַיִּירָאvay/yi/RAand he was afraidמֵהַבִּיט׃me/hab/BITto look

    Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordשַׁל־נְעָלֶיךָshal-ne/a/LE/khaput off your shoesמֵעַלme/ALfromרַגְלֶיךָrag/LE/khayour feetכִּיkiforהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאַתָּהat/TAyouעוֹמֵדo/MEDare standingעָלָיוa/LAYVon itאַדְמַת־קֹדֶשׁad/MAT-KO/deshground of holinessהוּא׃huis

    Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

    רָאֹהra/Oseeרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI have seenאֶת־עֳנִיet-o/NIthe affliction ofעַמִּיam/MIMy peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּמִצְרַיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptוְאֶת־נַאֲקָתָםve/ET-na/a/ka/TAMand their groaningשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI have heardוָאֵרֵדva/e/REDand I have come downלְהַצִּילָםle/hats/tsi/LAMto deliver themוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלְכָהle/KHAcomeוְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָve/esh/la/cha/KHAand I will send youמִצְרָיְמָה׃Mits/RAY/mainto Egypt

    I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

    This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

36. 36

    וְהוּאve/HUand heהוֹצִיאָםho/tsi/AMbrought them outוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didמוֹפְתִיםmof/TIMwondersוְאֹתוֹתve/o/TOTand signsבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוּבְיַם־סוּףu/ve/YAM-sufand in the Red Seaוּבַמִּדְבָּרu/vam/mid/BARand in the wildernessאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָה׃sha/NAyears

    He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

37. 37

    הוּאhuthis isמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאָמַרa/MARsaidאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelנָבִיאna/VIa prophetמִקֶּרֶבmik/KE/revfrom amongאֲחֵיכֶםa/che/KHEMyour brothersכָּמֹנִיka/MO/nilike meיָקִיםya/KIMwill raise upלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתִּשְׁמָעוּן׃tish/ma/UNyou shall listen

    This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

38. 38

    הוּאhuthis is heאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAwasבַקָּהָלvak/ka/HALin the assemblyבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessעִם־הַמַּלְאָךְim-ham/mal/AKHwith the angelהַדֹּבֵרhad/do/VERwho spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבְּהַרbe/HARin the mountסִינַיSi/NAYSinaוְעִם־אֲבוֹתֵינוּve/IM-a/vo/TE/nuand with our fathersוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoקִבֵּלkib/BELreceivedדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMwordsחַיִּיםchay/YIMlivingלָתֵתla/TETto giveלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

    This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

39. 39

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאֲבוֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuour fathersלֹאlonotאָבוּa/VUwere willingלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato listenלוֹloto himוַיִּמְאֲסוּvay/yim/a/SUand they rejectedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוּלְבָבָםu/le/va/VAMand their heartפָּנָהpa/NAturnedמִצְרָיְמָה׃Mits/RAY/mainto Egypt

    To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

40. 40

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֶל־אַהֲרוֹןel-A/ha/RONto Aaronעֲשֵׂה־לָנוּa/SE-LA/numake usאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMgodsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיֵלְכוּyel/KHUwill goלְפָנֵינוּle/fa/NE/nubefore usכִּיkiforזֶהzethisמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֶעֱלָנוּhe/e/LA/nubrought us upמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsof the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptלֹאlonotיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nudo we knowמֶה־הָיָהme-HA/yawhat has happenedלוֹ׃loto him

    Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

41. 41

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they madeעֵגֶלE/gela calfבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseוַיִּזְבְּחוּvay/yiz/be/CHUand they sacrificedזְבָחִיםze/va/CHIMsacrificesלָאֱלִילla/e/LILto the idolוַיִּשְׂמְחוּvay/yis/me/CHUand they rejoicedבְּמַעֲשֵׂהbe/ma/a/SEin the works ofיְדֵיהֶם׃ye/de/HEMtheir hands

    And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

42. 42

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיִּתְּנֵםvay/yit/te/NEMand gave themלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto serveאֶת־צְבָאet-tse/VAthe host ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensכַּכָּתוּבkak/ka/TUVas it is writtenבְּסֵפֶרbe/SE/ferin the book ofהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsהַזְּבָחִיםhaz/ze/va/CHIMsacrificesוּמִנְחָהu/min/CHAand offeringהִגַּשְׁתֶּם־לִיhig/gash/TEM-lidid you bring near to Meבַמִּדְבָּרvam/mid/BARin the wildernessאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsבֵּיתbetO house ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

43. 43

    וּנְשָׂאתֶםu/ne/sa/TEMand you carriedאֵת־סֻכַּתet-suk/KATthe tabernacle ofמֹלֶךְMO/lekhMolochוְאֶת־כּוֹכַבve/ET-ko/KHAVand the star ofאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour godרָמְפָןRa/me/FANRemphanהַצְּלָמִיםhats/tse/la/MIMthe imagesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעֲשִׂיתֶםa/si/TEMyou madeלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹתle/hish/ta/cha/VOTto bow downלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְהִגְלֵיתִיve/hig/le/TIand I will exileאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמֵהָלְאָהme/HAL/abeyondלְבָבֶל׃Le/va/VELBabylon

    Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

44. 44

    מִשְׁכַּןmish/KANthe tabernacle ofהָעֵדוּתha/e/DUTthe testimonyהָיָהha/YAwasלַאֲבוֹתֵינוּla/a/vo/TE/nuwith our fathersבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂהa/SAmadeמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesכַּתַּבְנִיתkat/tav/NITaccording to the patternאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatרָאָהra/Ahe had seenכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedאֹתוֹo/TOhimהַמְדַבֵּרHam/dab/BERthe One speakingאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

45. 45

    וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּva/a/vo/TE/nuand our fathersלְקָחֻהוּle/ka/CHU/hureceived itוְגַם־הֱבִיאֻהוּve/GAM-he/vi/U/huand also brought it inאִתָּםit/TAMwith themהֵםhemtheyוִיהוֹשֻׁעַVi/ho/SHU/aand Jesusבְּרִשְׁתָּםbe/rish/TAMin their possessingאֶת־אַרְצוֹתet-ar/TSOTthe lands ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMthe Gentilesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomגֵּרַשׁge/RASHdrove outאֹתָםo/TAMthemאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeאֲבוֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuour fathersעַד־יְמֵיad-ye/MEto the days ofדָוִד׃Da/VIDDavid

    Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

46. 46

    וְהוּאve/HUand heמָצָאma/TSAfoundחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand he askedלִמְצֹאlim/TSOto findמִשְׁכָּןmish/KANa tabernacleלֵאלֹהֵיle/lo/HEfor the God ofיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVJacob

    Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

47. 47

    וּשְׁלֹמֹהu/She/lo/MOand Solomonבָּנָה־לוֹba/NA-lobuilt for Himבָיִת׃VA/yita house

    But Solomon built him an house.

48. 48

    אֲבָלa/VALbutהָעֶלְיוֹןha/El/YONthe Most Highלֹאlonotיִשְׁכֹּןyish/KONdoes dwellבְּהֵיכָלוֹתbe/he/kha/LOTin templesמַעֲשֵׂיma/a/SEthe work ofיָדָיִםya/DA/yimhandsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַרa/MARsaysהַנָּבִיא׃han/na/VIthe prophet

    Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49. 49

    הַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensכִּסְאִיkis/Iare My throneוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the earthהֲדֹםha/DOMis the footstool ofרַגְלָיrag/LAYMy feetאֵי־זֶהe-zewhatבַיִתVA/yitis the houseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתִּבְנוּ־לִיtiv/NU-liyou will build for Meאָמַרa/MARsaysהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוְאֵי־זֶהve/E-zeand what isמָקוֹםma/KOMthe place ofמְנוּחָתִי׃me/nu/cha/TIMy rest

    Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

50. 50

    הֲלֹאha/LOdid notאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall theseיָדִי־עָשָׂתָה׃ya/DI-a/SA/taMy hand make

    Hath not my hand made all these things?

51. 51

    קְשֵׁיke/SHEhard ofעֹרֶףO/refneckוְעַרְלֵיve/ar/LEand uncircumcised ofלֵבlevheartוְאׇזְנָיִםve/oz/NA/yimand earsמַמְרִיםmam/RIMrebellingהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMyou have beenתָּמִידta/MIDalwaysבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁbe/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshagainst the Holy Spiritכַּאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםka/a/vo/te/KHEMlike your fathersגַּם־אַתֶּם׃gam-at/TEMyou also

    Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

52. 52

    מִיmiwhichמֵהַנְּבִיאִיםme/han/ne/vi/IMof the prophetsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotרְדָפוּהוּre/da/fu/HUdid persecute himאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםa/vo/te/KHEMyour fathersאַף־הֵמִיתוּaf-he/MI/tuand they killedאֵת־הַמְבַשְּׂרִיםet-ham/vas/se/RIMthose who announcedמִקֶּדֶםmik/KE/dembeforehandבּוֹאbothe coming ofהַצַּדִּיקhats/Tsad/DIKthe Righteous Oneאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseעַתָּהat/TAnowהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMyou have beenאַתֶּםat/TEMyouמוֹסְרָיוmos/RAYVdeliverersוּמְרַצְּחָיו׃u/me/rats/tse/CHAYVand murderers

    Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

53. 53

    אַתֶּםat/TEMyouאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoקִבַּלְתֶּםkib/bal/TEMhave receivedאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMangelsוְלֹאve/LOand notשְׁמַרְתֶּםshe/mar/TEMhave you keptאוֹתָהּ׃o/TAit

    Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

54. 54

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּשׇׁמְעָםke/shom/AMwhen they heardאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseוַיִּגַּעvay/yig/GAand it touchedבָּהֶםba/HEMin themעַדadtoנָפֶשׁNA/feshthe soulוַיַּחַרְקוּvay/ya/char/KUand they gnashedעָלָיוa/LAYVat himשִׁנֵּיהֶם׃shin/ne/HEMtheir teeth

    When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

55. 55

    וְהוּאve/HUand heמָלֵאma/LEfull ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritוַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand lookedהַשָּׁמָיְמָהhash/sha/MAY/mainto heavenוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֶת־כְּבוֹדet-ke/VODthe glory ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַve/ET-ye/SHU/aand Jesusנִצָּבnits/TSAVstandingלִימִיןli/MINat the right hand ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iרֹאֶהro/Eseeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםet-hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensנִפְתָּחִיםnif/ta/CHIMopenedוְאֵתve/ETandבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manנִצָּבnits/TSAVstandingלִימִיןli/MINat the right hand ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

    וַיִּזְעֲקוּvay/yiz/a/KUand they cried outקוֹלkolwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLloudוַיַּאַטְמוּvay/ya/at/MUand stoppedאֶת־אׇזְנֵיהֶםet-oz/ne/HEMtheir earsוַיִּתְנַפְּלוּvay/yit/nap/pe/LUand rushedעָלָיוa/LAYVon himכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themיָחַד׃YA/chadtogether

    Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,

58. 58

    וַיַּשְׁלִיכֻהוּvay/yash/li/khu/HUand threw himאֶל־מִחוּץel-mi/CHUTSoutsideלָעִירla/IRthe cityוַיִּסְקְלוּvay/yis/ke/LUand stonedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבָּאֲבָנִיםba/a/va/NIMwith stonesוְהָעֵדִיםve/ha/e/DIMand the witnessesפָּשְׁטוּpa/she/TUtook offאֶת־בִּגְדֵיהֶםet-big/de/HEMtheir clothesלְרַגְלֵיle/rag/LEat the feet ofבָּחוּרba/CHURa young manאֶחָדe/CHADoneוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameשָׁאוּל׃Sha/ULSaul

    And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

59. 59

    וַיִּסְקְלוּvay/yis/ke/LUand they stonedאֶת־אִסְטְפָנוֹסet-Is/te/fa/NOSStephenוְהוּאve/HUand he wasמְשַׁוֵּעַme/shav/VE/acrying outוְאֹמֵרve/o/MERand sayingאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy LordיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusקַבֵּלkab/BELreceiveאֶת־רוּחִי׃et-ru/CHImy spirit

    And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

60. 60

    וַיִּכְרַעvay/yikh/RAand he kneltעַל־בִּרְכָּיוal-bir/KAYVon his kneesוַיִּזְעַקvay/yiz/AKand he cried outקוֹלkolwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLloudהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONO Lordאַל־תִּשְׁמֹרal-tish/MORdo not keepלָהֶםla/HEMagainst themאֶת־הַחֵטְאet-ha/CHETthe sinהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterדַבְּרוֹdab/be/ROhis speakingכַּדָּבָרkad/da/VARlike the wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיִּישָׁן׃vay/yi/SHANand he fell asleep

    And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
