    וְאִישׁThere-was-a-manהָיָהcertainבְּקֵיסַרְיָהin-CaesareaוּשְׁמוֹcalledקָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCornelius,שַׂר־מֵאָהa-centurionמִן־הַגְּדוּדof-the-bandהַנִּקְרָאcalledהָאִיטַלְקִי׃the-Italian,

    There was a certain man in Cæsarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

    וְהוּאAnd-he-wasחָסִידdevout,וִירֵאand-one-that-fearedאֱלֹהִיםGodעִם־כׇּל־בְּנֵיwith-all-the-sons-ofבֵיתוֹhis-house,וְעֹשֵׂהwhich-gaveצְדָקוֹתalmsהַרְבֵּהmuchלָעָםto-the-people,וּמִתְפַּלֵּלand-prayedתָּמִידalwayלֵאלֹהִים׃to-God.

    A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passהַיּוֹםevidentlyכַּשָּׁעָהabout-the-hourהַתְּשִׁיעִיתninthלַיּוֹםof-the-day,וְהִנֵּהhe-saw-in-a-visionמַלְאַךְan-angel-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodבָּאcoming-inאֵלָיוto-him,בְּמַחֲזֶהevidently,וַיֹּאמֶרand-saying-unto-him,קָרְנֵילִיּוֹס׃Cornelius.

    He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

    וַיַּבֵּטAnd-when-he-lookedאֵלָיוon-him,וַיִּירָאhe-was-afraid,וַיֹּאמֶרand-said,מַה־זֶּהWhat-is-it,אֲדֹנִיLord?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-he-saidאֵלָיוunto-him,תְּפִלּוֹתֶיךָYour-prayersוְצִדְקוֹתֶיךָand-yours-almsעָלוּare-come-upלְזִכָּרוֹןfor-a-memorialלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

    וְעַתָּהAnd-nowשְׁלַח־לְךָsend-youאֲנָשִׁיםmenאֶל־יָפוֹto-Joppa,וְהָבֵאand-callאֵלֶיךָfor-youאֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןone-Simon,הַמְכֻנֶּהwhose-surname-isפֶטְרוֹס׃Peter:

    And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

    הוּאHeמִתְגּוֹרֵרlodgethעִם־בּוּרְסִיwith-a-tannerאֶחָדoneשִׁמְעוֹןSimonשְׁמוֹnamed,אֲשֶׁרwhoseבֵּיתוֹhouse-isעַל־יַדby-the-side-ofהַיָּםthe-sea:הוּאheיֹאמַרshall-tellלְךָyouאֶת־אֲשֶׁרwhatעָלֶיךָyou-oughtלַעֲשׂוֹת׃to-do.

    He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

    וַיֵּלֶךְ־לוֹAnd-when-was-departedהַמַּלְאָךְthe-angelהַדֹּבֵרwhich-spakeאֶל־קָרְנֵילִיּוֹסunto-Cornelius,וַיִּקְרָאhe-calledאֶל־שְׁנַיִםtwoמֵעַבְדֵיof-the-servants-ofבֵיתוֹhis-household,וְאֶל־אִישׁand-a-man-ofמִלְחָמָהwarאֶחָדone,יְרֵאdevout-towardאֱלֹהִיםGod,מִן־הָעֹמְדִיםof-them-that-waitedתָּמִידcontinuallyלְפָנָיוon-himלְשָׁרֲתוֹ׃to-serve-him;

    And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

    וַיְסַפֵּרAnd-when-he-had-declaredלָהֶםunto-themאֵת־כׇּלallהַדְּבָרִיםthese-things,וַיִּשְׁלָחֵםhe-sent-themאֶל־יָפוֹ׃to-Joppa.

    And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passמִמׇּחֳרָתon-the-morrow,וְהֵמָּהas-theyהֹלְכִיםwentבַּדֶּרֶךְon-their-journey,וּקְרֵבִיםand-drew-nighלָעִירunto-the-city,וַיַּעַלwent-upפֶּטְרוֹסPeterעַל־הַגָּגupon-the-housetopלְהִתְפַּלֵּלto-prayכַּשָּׁעָהabout-the-hourהַשִּׁשִּׁית׃sixth:

    On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

    וְהוּאAnd-he-becameרָעֵבvery-hungry,וַיִּתְאָוand-would-haveלִטְעָם־לָחֶםeaten:וּבַהֲכִינָםbut-while-they-made-readyלוֹfor-him,נָפְלָהhe-fell-intoעָלָיוupon-himתַּרְדֵּמָה׃a-trance,

    And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

    וַיַּרְאAnd-sawאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםheavenנִפְתָּחִיםopened,וְהִנֵּה־כְלִיand-a-certain-vesselיֹרֵדdescendingאֵלָיוunto-him,כִּדְמוּתas-it-had-beenמִטְפַּחַת־בַּדa-sheetגְּדוֹלָהgreatוַיּוּרַדand-let-downקָשׁוּרknitבְּאַרְבַּעat-the-fourכַּנְפוֹתָיוcorners-of-it,עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃to-the-earth:

    And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

    וּבְתוֹכוֹWherein-wereמִכׇּל־בֶּהֱמַתall-manner-of-fourfooted-beasts-ofהָאָרֶץthe-earth,וְחַיָּהand-wild-beasts,וָרֶמֶשׂand-creeping-things,וְעוֹףand-fowls-ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃the-air.

    Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

    וַיְהִי־קוֹלAnd-there-came-a-voiceאֵלָיוto-him,לֵאמֹרsaying,קוּםRise,פֶּטְרוֹסPeter;טְבַחkill,וֶאֱכֹל׃and-eat.

    And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

  14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרBut-said,פֶּטְרוֹסPeterחָלִילָהNot-so,לִּיto-me,אֲדֹנִיLord;כִּיforמֵעוֹלָםneverלֹאhave-Iאָכַלְתִּיeatenכׇּל־פִּגּוּלany-thing-that-is-commonוְטָמֵא׃or-unclean.

    But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

    וַיְהִי־עוֹדAnd-came-againקוֹלthe-voiceאֵלָיוunto-himפַּעַםthe-timeשֵׁנִיתsecond,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֶת־אֲשֶׁרWhatטִהַרhath-cleansed,הָאֱלֹהִיםGodאַתָּהyouאַל־תְּטַמְּאֶנּוּ׃call-not-common.

    And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

  16. 16

    וְכֵןAnd-soהָיָהwas-this-doneשָׁלשׁthreeפְּעָמִיםtimes:וְהַכְּלִיand-the-vesselשָׁבagainוְהֹעֲלָהwas-received-upהַשָּׁמָיְמָה׃into-heaven.

    This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

    וַיְהִיNow-it-came-to-passבְּהִתְפָּעֵםwhile-doubtedרוּחַthe-spirit-ofפֶּטְרוֹסPeterעַל־הַמַּרְאֶהat-the-visionאֲשֶׁרwhichרָאָהhe-had-seen,וְהִנֵּהbehold,הָאֲנָשִׁיםthe-menהַשְּׁלוּחִיםwhich-were-sentמֵאֵתfromקָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCorneliusשָׁאֲלוּhad-made-inquiryלְבֵיתfor-the-house-ofשִׁמְעוֹןSimon,וַיַּעַמְדוּand-stoodעַל־הַפָּתַח׃before-the-gate,

    Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,

    וַיִּקְרְאוּAnd-called,וַיִּדְרְשׁוּand-askedהֲיֵשׁwhetherמִתְגּוֹרֵרwere-lodgedשָׁםthereשִׁמְעוֹןSimon,הַמְכֻנֶּהwhich-was-surnamedפֶטְרוֹס׃Peter,

    And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

  19. 19

    וּפֶטְרוֹסWhile-Peterעוֹדֶנּוּyetחשֵׁבthoughtעִם־לְבָבוֹin-his-heartעַל־הַמַּרְאֶהon-the-vision,וְהָרוּחַthe-Spiritאָמַרsaidאֵלָיוunto-him,הִנֵּהBehold,שְׁלֹשָׁהthreeאֲנָשִׁיםmenמְבַקְשִׁיםseekאוֹתְךָ׃you.

    While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

  20. 20

    לָכֵןtherefore,קוּםAriseרֵדand-get-you-down,וּלְכָה־נָּאand-goאִתָּםwith-them,וְאַל־תַּחְשֹׁבdoubtingחִשְּׁבֹנוֹתnothingרַבִּיםat-all:כִּיforאָנֹכִיIשְׁלַחְתִּים׃have-sent-them.

    Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

  21. 21

    וַיֵּרֶדThen-went-downפֶּטְרוֹסPeterאֶל־הָאֲנָשִׁיםto-the-menהַנִּשְׁלָחִיםwhich-were-sentאֵלָיוunto-himמֵאֵתfromקָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCornelius;וַיֹּאמַרand-said,אָנֹכִיI-amהָאִישׁheאֲשֶׁרwhomאַתֶּםyouמְבַקְשִׁיםseek:לָמָּה־זֶּהwhat-is-the-cause-whereforeבָאתֶםyou-are-comeהֵנָּה׃hither?

    Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

  22. 22

    וַיֹּאמְרוּAnd-they-said,קָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCorneliusשַׂר־מֵאָהthe-centurion,אִישׁa-manצַדִּיקjust,וִירֵאand-one-that-fearethאֱלֹהִיםGod,וְלוֹand-hathשֵׁם־טוֹבgood-reportבְּכׇל־עַםamong-all-the-nation-ofהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jews,צֻוָּהwas-warned-from-Godעַל־פִּיbyמַלְאָךְan-angelקָדוֹשׁholyלִקְרֹאto-sendלְךָfor-youאֶל־בֵּיתוֹinto-his-house,וְלִשְׁמֹעַand-to-hearדְּבָרִיםwordsמִפִּיךָ׃of-you.

    And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

    וַיִּקְרָאThen-called-heאֹתָםthemאֵלָיוin,וַיַּאַסְפֵםand-lodged-them.הַבָּיְתָהin-the-house.וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passמִמׇּחֳרָתon-the-morrowוַיֵּצֵאwent-awayפֶטְרוֹסPeterאִתָּםwith-them,וּמִקְצָתand-certain-ofהָאַחִיםthe-brethrenאֲשֶׁרwhich-wereבְּיָפוֹfrom-Joppaהָלְכוּaccompaniedעִמּוֹ׃him.

    Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

  24. 24

    וּלְמׇחֳרָתוֹAnd-the-morrow-afterבָּאוּthey-enteredאֶל־קֵיסַרְיָהinto-Caesarea.וְקָרְנֵילִיּוֹסAnd-Corneliusמְחַכֶּהwaitedלָהֶםfor-them,וְעִמּוֹand-with-himבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofמִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹhis-familyוּקְרוֹבָיוand-his-kinsmenוּמְיֻדָּעָיוand-near-friends,הַנִּקְהָלִיםwhom-he-had-called-togetherאֵלָיו׃unto-him.

    And the morrow after they entered into Cæsarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

  25. 25

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passכְּבוֹאas-was-coming-inפֶטְרוֹסPeter,וַיֵּצֵאwent-outקָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCorneliusלִקְרָאתוֹand-met-him,וַיִּפֹּלand-fell-downלְרַגְלָיוat-his-feet,וַיִּשְׁתָּחוּ׃and-worshiped-him.

    And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

  26. 26

    וַיָּקֶםBut-took-upאוֹתוֹhimפֶטְרוֹסPeter,וַיֹּאמֶרsaying,קוּםStand-up;כִּיforגַּם־אֲנִיI-myself-alsoאֱנוֹשׁa-manאָנֹכִי׃am.

    But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

  27. 27

    וַיְדַבֵּרAnd-as-he-talkedאִתּוֹwith-him,וַיָּבֹאhe-went-inהַבָּיְתָהto-the-house,וַיִּמְצָאand-foundרַבִּיםmanyנֶאֱסָפִיםthat-were-come-togetherשָׁמָּה׃there.

    And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

  28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-he-saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto-them,אַתֶּםYouיְדַעְתֶּםknowכִּי־אָסוּרhow-that-an-unlawful-thingהוּאit-isלְאִישׁfor-a-manיְהוּדִיthat-is-a-Jewלְהִלָּוֹתto-keep-company,וְלִקְרֹבor-comeאֶל־נָכְרִיunto-one-of-another-nation;וְאֹתִיbut-meהוֹרָהhath-shewedאֱלֹהִיםGodלְבִלְתִּיthat-notאֱמֹרI-should-callחֹלcommonאוֹ־טָמֵאor-uncleanעַל־כׇּל־אָדָם׃any-man.

    And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

    וּבַעֲבוּרThereforeזֹאתfor-thisכַּאֲשֶׁרas-soon-asנִקְרֵאתִיI-was-sent-for:לֹאwithoutנִמְנַעְתִּיgainsayingמֵהֲלֹךְcame-I-unto-youוְעַתָּהthereforeאֶשְׁאָלְכֶםI-ask-youעַל־מַה־זֶּהfor-what-intentקְרָאתֶםyou-have-sentלִי׃for-me?

    Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

  30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-said,קָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCorneliusזֶהagoאַרְבָּעָהFourיָמִיםdaysהָיִיתִיI-wasצָםfastingעַד־הַשָּׁעָהuntil-hourהַזֹּאתthis;וּבַשָּׁעָהand-at-the-hourהַתְּשִׁיעִיתninthהִתְפַּלַּלְתִּיI-prayedבְתוֹךְinבֵּיתִיmy-house,וְהִנֵּה־אִישׁand,-behold,-a-manנִצָּבstoodלְפָנַיbefore-meבִּלְבוּשׁin-clothingזֹהַר׃bright,

    And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

  31. 31

    וַיֹּאמַרAnd-said,קָרְנֵילִיּוֹסCornelius,נִשְׁמְעָהis-heard,תְפִלָּתְךָyour-prayerוְצִדְקוֹתֶיךָand-yours-almsהָיוּare-hadלְזִכָּרוֹןin-remembranceלִפְנֵיin-the-sight-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

  32. 32

    וְעַתָּהthereforeשְׁלַחSendאֶל־יָפוֹto-Joppa,וּקְרָאand-callאֵלֶיךָhitherאֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,הַמְכֻנֶּהwhose-surname-isפֶטְרוֹסPeter;מִתְגּוֹרֵרis-lodgedהוּאheבְּבֵיתin-the-house-ofשִׁמְעוֹןone-Simonהַבּוּרְסִיa-tannerעַל־הַיָּםby-the-sea-side:אֲשֶׁרwho,בְּבוֹאוֹwhen-he-cometh,יְדַבֶּר־לָךְ׃shall-speak-unto-you.

    Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

    וָאֲמַהֵרImmediately-thereforeוָאֶשְׁלַחI-sentאֵלֶיךָto-you;וְאַתָּהand-youהֵיטַבְתָּhast-well-doneלַעֲשׂוֹתdoingאֲשֶׁר־בָּאתָthat-you-are-comeאֵלָיunto-me.וְהִנְנוּNow-therefore-are-weכֻּלָּנוּallפֹהhere-presentלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,לִשְׁמֹעַto-hearאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall-things-thatצֻוֵּיתָare-commanded-youבֵּאלֹהִים׃of-God.

    Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

  34. 34

    וַיִּפְתַּחThen-openedפֶּטְרוֹסPeterאֶת־פִּיוhis-mouth,וַיֹּאמַרand-said,עַתָּהOf-a-truthיָדַעְתִּיI-perceiveבֶאֱמֶתtrulyכִּיthatהָאֱלֹהִיםGodאֵינֶנּוּis-noנֹשֵׂאrespecter-ofפָנִים׃persons:

    Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

  35. 35

    כִּיButאִם־בְּכׇל־עַםin-every-nationוָעָםand-nationהַיָּרֵאhe-that-fearethאוֹתוֹhim,וְעֹשֶׂהand-workethצֶּדֶקrighteousness,רָצוּיacceptedהוּאisלְפָנָיו׃with-him.

    But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

  36. 36

    וַיִּשְׁלַחwhich-God-sentאֶת־דְּבָרוֹThe-wordלִבְנֵיunto-the-children-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsrael,וַיְבַשֵּׂרpreachingאֶת־הַשָּׁלוֹםpeaceעַל־יְדֵיbyיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChrist:וְהוּא(he-isאֲדוֹןLord-ofהַכֹּל׃all:)

    The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

    אַתֶּםyouיְדַעְתֶּםknow,אֶת־הַדָּבָרThat-word,-I-say,הַנַּעֲשֶׂהwhich-was-publishedבְכׇל־יְהוּדָהthroughout-all-Judaea,הָחֵלand-beganמִן־הַגָּלִילfrom-Galilee,אַחֲרֵיafterהַטְּבִילָהthe-baptismאֲשֶׁר־קָרָאwhich-preachedאֹתָהּitיוֹחָנָן׃John;

    That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judæa, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

    אֵת־אֲשֶׁר־מָשַׁחHow-anointedהָאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַJesusהַנָּצְרִיof-Nazarethבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁwith-the-Holy-Ghostוּבִגְבוּרָהand-with-power:וַיַּעֲבֹרwho-went-aboutבָּאָרֶץin-the-landעֹשֵׂהdoingחֶסֶדgood,וְרֹפֵאand-healingאֶת־כׇּל־הַנִּכְבָּשִׁיםall-that-were-oppressedתַּחַתunderיַדthe-hand-ofהַשָּׂטָןthe-devil;כִּיforהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהָיָהwasעִמּוֹ׃with-him.

    How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

    וַאֲנַחְנוּAnd-we-areעֵדִיםwitnessesעַל־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרof-all-things-whichעָשָׂהhe-didבְּאֶרֶץboth-in-the-land-ofהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jews,וּבִירוּשָׁלַיִםand-in-Jerusalem;וַאֲשֶׁרwhomהֱמִתֻהוּthey-slewבְּהוֹקִיעָםand-hangedאֹתוֹhimעַל־הָעֵץ׃on-a-tree:

    And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

    אוֹתוֹHimהֵקִיםraised-upהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבַּיּוֹםthe-dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthird,וַיִּתְּנֵהוּand-gave-himלְהֵרָאוֹתto-be-shewnבְּגָלוּי׃openly;

    Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

  41. 41

    לֹאNotלְכׇל־הָעָםto-all-the-people,כִּיbutאִםratherלָנוּeven-to-us,הָעֵדִיםwitnessesאֲשֶׁרwhomהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבָּחַרchoseבָּהֶםin-themמֵרֹאשׁbefore,אֲשֶׁרwhoאָכַלְנוּdid-eatוְשָׁתִינוּand-drinkאִתּוֹwith-himאַחֲרֵיafterקוּמוֹhe-roseמִן־הַמֵּתִים׃from-the-dead.

    Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

    וַיְצַוAnd-he-commandedאֹתָנוּusלְהַשְׁמִיעַto-preachלָעָםunto-the-people,וּלְהָעִידand-to-testifyכִּיthatאֹתוֹheשָׂםwhich-was-ordainedהָאֱלֹהִיםof-Godלְשׁוֹפֵטto-be-the-Judge-ofהַחַיִּיםquickוְהַמֵּתִים׃and-dead.

    And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

    וְעָלָיוTo-himכׇּל־הַנְּבִיאִיםall-the-prophetsמְעִידִיםgive-witness,כִּיthatיְקַבְּלוּshall-receiveסְלִיחַתremission-ofהַחֲטָאִיםsinsבִּשְׁמוֹthrough-his-nameכׇּל־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםwhosoever-believethבּוֹ׃in-him.

    To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

    וּפֶטְרוֹסWhile-Peterעוֹדֶנּוּyetמְדַבֵּרspakeהַדְּבָרִיםwordsהָאֵלֶּהthese,וְרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostצָלְחָהfellעַלonכׇּל־הַשֹּׁמְעִיםall-them-which-heardאֶת־הַדָּבָר׃the-word.

    While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

    וְהַמַּאֲמִינִיםAnd-they-which-believedהַמּוּלִיםof-the-circumcisionאֲשֶׁרas-many-asבָּאוּcame-withאֶת־פֶּטְרוֹסPeter,תָּמְהוּwere-astonished,כִּי־מַתְּנַתbecause-that-the-gift-ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostנִשְׁפְּכָהwas-poured-outגַּםalsoעַל־הַגּוֹיִם׃on-the-Gentiles.

    And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    כִּיForשָׁמְעוּthey-heardאֹתָםthemמְמַלֲלִיםspeakבִּלְשֹׁנוֹתwith-tongues,וּמְגַדְּלִיםand-magnifyאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod.וַיַּעַןThen-answeredפֶּטְרוֹסPeter,וַיֹּאמַר׃and-said,

    For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

    הֲיוּכַלCanאִישׁany-manלִמְנֹעַforbidאֶת־הַמַּיִםwater,מִטְּבֹלthat-should-not-be-baptizedאֶת־אֵלֶּהthese,אֲשֶׁרwhichקִבְּלוּhave-receivedאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostגַּם־הֵםas-well-theyכָּמֹנוּ׃as-we?

    Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

  48. 48

    וַיְצַוAnd-he-commandedבְּשֵׁםin-the-name-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lord.לִטְבֹּלto-be-baptizedאֹתָםthemוַיְבַקְשׁוּThen-prayed-theyמִמֶּנּוּhimלָשֶׁבֶתto-tarryאִתָּםwith-themיָמִיםdaysאֲחָדִים׃certain.

    And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
