1. 1

   וַיִּשְׁמְעוּAnd-heardהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe-apostlesוְהָאַחִיםand-brethrenאֲשֶׁרthat-wereבִּיהוּדָהin-Judaeaכִּי־קִבְּלוּthat-had-receivedגַם־הַגּוֹיִםthe-Gentiles-alsoאֶת־דְּבַרthe-word-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

   And the apostles and brethren that were in Judæa heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

2. 2

   וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenעָלָהwas-come-upפֶטְרוֹסPeterיְרוּשָׁלָיִםto-Jerusalem,וַיָּרִיבוּcontendedעִמּוֹwith-himהַמּוּלִיםthey-that-were-of-the-circumcision,לֵאמֹר׃saying,

   And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

   אֶל־אֲנָשִׁיםto-menאֲשֶׁר־לָהֶםwhich-haveעׇרְלָהuncircumcisionבָּאתָYou-wentest-in,וְתֹּאכַלand-didst-eatאִתָּםwith-themלָחֶם׃bread.

   Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

   וַיָּחֶלBut-beganפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוַיְסַפֵּרand-rehearsedלָהֶםunto-themכְּסֵדֶרby-orderאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthe-matter-whichקָרָהוּhad-happened-to-him,לֵאמֹר׃saying,

   But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

   מִתְפַּלֵּלpraying:הָיִיתִיI-wasבְּעִירin-the-city-ofיָפוֹJoppaוָאֵרָדַםand-in-a-tranceוָאֵרֶאI-sawמַרְאֶהa-vision,וְהִנֵּה־כְלִיA-certain-vesselכִּדְמוּתas-it-had-beenמִטְפַּחַת־בַּדa-sheetגְּדוֹלָהgreat,יוֹרֵדdescend,מִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom-heavenוַתּוּרַדlet-downבְּאַרְבַּעby-fourכַּנְפוֹתֶיהָcorners-of-it;וַתָּבֹאand-it-cameעָדָי׃even-to-me:

   I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:

   וְהִסְתַּכַּלְתִּיAnd-when-I-had-fastened-mine-eyesבָהּupon-it,וָאָבִיןI-considered,וָאֵרֶאand-sawאֶת־בֶּהֱמַתfourfooted-beasts-ofהָאָרֶץthe-earth,וְאֶת־הַחַיָּהand-wild-beasts,וְרֶמֶשׂand-creeping-things-ofהָאֲדָמָהthe-ground,וְעוֹףand-fowls-ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃the-air.

   Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

7. 7

   וָאֶשְׁמַעAnd-I-heardגַּם־קוֹלa-voiceמִדַּבֵּרsayingאֵלָיunto-me,קוּםArise,פֶּטְרוֹסPeter;טְבַחslayוֶאֱכֹל׃and-eat.

   And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

8. 8

   וָאֹמַרBut-I-said,חָלִילָהNot-so,לִּיto-me,אֲדֹנִיLord:כִּיforכׇּל־פִּגּוּלnothing-commonוְטָמֵאor-uncleanלֹא־בָאhath-enteredבְּפִי־מֵעוֹלָם׃into-my-mouth-at-any-time.

   But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.

9. 9

   וַיַּעֲנֵנִיBut-answered-meהַקּוֹלthe-voiceשֵׁנִיתagainמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom-heaven,וַיֹּאמַרand-said,אֶת־אֲשֶׁרWhatטִהַרhath-cleansed,הָאֱלֹהִיםGodאַתָּהyouאַל־תְּטַמְּאֶנּוּ׃call-not-common.

   But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

10. 10

    וְכֵןAnd-soהָיָהwas-this-doneשָׁלשׁthreeפְּעָמִיםtimes:וְהַכֹּלand-allשָׁבagainוְהֹעֲלָהwere-drawn-upהַשָּׁמָיְמָה׃into-heaven.

    And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

11. 11

    וְהִנֵּהAnd,-behold,כְרֶגַעimmediatelyשְׁלֹשָׁהthreeאֲנָשִׁיםmenעֹמְדִיםwere-already-come,עַלuntoפֶּתַחthe-door-ofהַבַּיִתthe-houseאֲשֶׁרwhereאָנֹכִיIשָׁםwas,וְהֵמָּהand-theyשְׁלוּחִיםsentאֵלַיunto-meמִקֵּיסַרְיָה׃from-Caesarea.

    And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cæsarea unto me.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-badeאֵלַיmeהָרוּחַthe-Spiritלָלֶכֶתgoאִתָּםwith-them,וּלְבִלְתִּיnothingהִתְמַהְמֵהַּdoubting.וַיֵּלְכוּMoreover-accompaniedאִתִּיmeגַּם־שֵׁשֶׁתthese-sixהָאַחִיםbrethrenהָאֵלֶּהthese,וַנָּבוֹאand-we-enteredאֶל־בֵּיתinto-the-house-ofהָאִישׁ׃the-man:

    And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

13. 13

    וַיַגֶּד־לָנוּAnd-he-shewed-usאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־רָאָהhow-he-had-seenהַמַּלְאָךְan-angelנִצָּבwhich-stoodבְּבֵיתוֹin-his-house,וְאֹמֵרand-saidאֵלָיוunto-him,שְׁלַחSendאֶל־יָפוֹto-Joppaאֲנָשִׁיםmen,וּקְרָאand-callאֵלֶיךָfor-youאֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,הַמְכֻנֶּהwhose-surname-isפֶטְרוֹס׃Peter;

    And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

14. 14

    וְהוּאWhoיְדַבֵּרshall-tellאֵלֶיךָyouדְּבָרִיםwords,אֲשֶׁרwherebyתִּוָּשַׁעshall-be-savedבָּהֶםby-themאַתָּהyouוְכׇל־בֵּיתֶךָ׃and-all-your-house.

    Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

15. 15

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרAnd-asהָחִילּוֹתִיI-beganלְדַבֵּרto-speak,צָלְחָהfellעֲלֵיהֶםon-them,רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostכַּאֲשֶׁרasצָלְחָהit-fellעָלֵינוּon-usבַּתְּחִילָּה׃at-the-beginning.

    And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

16. 16

    וָאֶזְכֹּרThen-remembered-Iאֶת־דְּבַרthe-word-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lord,אֲשֶׁרhow-thatאָמָרhe-said,יוֹחָנָןJohnהִטְבִּילindeed-baptizedבַּמַּיִםwith-water;וְאַתֶּםbut-youתִּטָּבְלוּshall-be-baptizedבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃with-the-Holy-Ghost.

    Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

17. 17

    וְעַתָּהForasmuch-thenאִם־מַתָּנָהas-the-giftאַחַתlikeנָתַןgaveהָאֱלֹהִיםGodלָהֶםto-themוְלָנוּas-unto-us,הַמַּאֲמִינִיםwho-believedבָּאָדוֹןon-the-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChrist;מִיwhatאָנֹכִיwas-I,כִּיthatאֶעֱצֹרI-could-withstandלֵאלֹהִים׃God?

    Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

18. 18

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passכְּשׇׁמְעָםwhen-they-heardזֹאתthese-things,וַיַּחֲרִישׁוּthey-held-their-peace,וַיְהַלֲלוּand-glorifiedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיֹּאמְרוּsaying,אָכֵןThenגַּם־לַגּוֹיִםalso-to-the-Gentilesנָתַןhath-grantedהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהַתְּשׁוּבָהrepentanceלַחַיִּים׃unto-life.

    When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

19. 19

    וְהַנְּפוֹצִיםNow-they-which-were-scattered-abroadמִפְּנֵיuponהַצָּרָהthe-persecutionאֲשֶׁרthatהָיְתָהaroseעַל־אוֹדֹתaboutאִסְטְפָנוֹסStephenהָלְכוּtraveledוָבָאוּand-cameעַד־פִּינוּקְיָאas-far-as-Phenice,וְקִיפְרוֹסand-Cyprus,וְאַנְטְיוֹכְיָאand-Antioch,וְלֹאand-to-noneדִּבְּרוּpreachingאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe-wordכִּיbutאִםratherאֶל־הַיְּהוּדִיםunto-the-Jewsלְבַדָּם׃only.

    Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

20. 20

    וַיְהִיAnd-wereבְתוֹכָםsome-of-themאַנְשֵׁיmen-ofקִיפְרוֹסCyprusוְקוּרִינִיand-Cyrene,אֲשֶׁרwhich,בָּאוּwhen-they-were-comeאֶל־אַנְטְיוֹכְיָאto-Antioch,וַיְדַבְּרוּspakeגַם־אֶל־הַיְּוָנִיםunto-the-Grecians,וַיְבַשְּׂרוּpreachingאֹתָםto-themאֶת־הָאָדוֹןthe-Lordיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus.

    And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

21. 21

    וַתְּהִיAnd-wasעִמָּהֶםwith-them:יַד־יְהוָֹהthe-hand-of-the-Lordוְרַבִּיםand-a-great-numberהֶאֱמִינוּbelieved,וַיָּשׁוּבוּand-turnedאֶל־הָאָדוֹן׃unto-the-Lord.

    And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

22. 22

    וַיִּשָּׁמַעThen-cameהַדָּבָרtidings-of-these-thingsבְּאׇזְנֵיunto-the-ears-ofהַקְּהִילָּהthe-churchאֲשֶׁרwhich-wasבִּירוּשָׁלָיִםin-Jerusalem:וַיִּשְׁלְחוּand-they-sent-forthאֶת־בַּר־נַבָּאBarnabas,אֶל־אַנְטְיוֹכְיָא׃as-far-as-Antioch.

    Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

23. 23

    וַיָּבֹאWho-when-he-cameשָׁמָּהthere,וַיִּשְׂמַחwas-glad,כִּרְאֹתוֹand-had-seenאֶת־חֶסֶדthe-grace-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,וַיַּזְהֵרand-exhortedאֶת־כֻּלָּםthem-all,לְדָבְקָהthat-they-would-cleaveבָאָדוֹןunto-the-Lordבְּלֵבwith-purpose-of-heartנָכוֹן׃steadfast.

    Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

24. 24

    כִּיForאִישׁa-manטוֹבgoodהָיָהhe-was,וּמָלֵאand-full-ofרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostוֶאֱמוּנָהand-of-faith:וַיֵּאָסְפוּand-was-addedלָאָדוֹןunto-the-Lordעַםpeopleרָב׃much.

    For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

25. 25

    וַיֵּלֶךְThen-departedבַּר־נַבָּאBarnabasמִשָּׁםfrom-thenceאֶל־טַרְסוֹסto-Tarsus,לְבַקֵּשׁfor-to-seekאֶת־שָׁאוּל׃Saul:

    Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

26. 26

    וַיִּמְצָאAnd-when-he-had-foundאֹתוֹhim,וַיְבִיאֵהוּhe-brought-himאֶל־אַנְטְיוֹכְיָאunto-Antioch.וַיִּהְיוּAnd-it-came-to-pass,-that-theyיֹשְׁבִיםassembled-themselvesיַחַדtogetherבַּקְּהִילָּהwith-the-churchשָׁנָהa-yearתְמִימָהwhole,וּמְלַמְּדִיםand-taughtעַםpeopleרָבmuch.אָזfirstהוּחַלwere-calledבְּאַנְטְיוֹכְיָאin-Antiochלִקְרֹאto-callאֶת־הַתַּלְמִידִיםthe-disciplesבְּשֵׁםby-the-nameמְשִׁיחִיִּים׃Christians.

    And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

27. 27

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבַּיָּמִיםin-daysהָהֵםtheseוַיֵּרְדוּcameנְבִיאִיםprophetsמִירוּשָׁלַיִםfrom-Jerusalemאֶל־אַנְטְיוֹכְיָא׃unto-Antioch.

    And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

28. 28

    וַיָּקׇםAnd-there-stood-upאֶחָדoneמֵהֶםof-themוּשְׁמוֹnamedאֲגָבוֹסAgabus,וַיַּגֵּדand-signifiedעַל־פִּיbyהָרוּחַthe-Spiritכִּיthatרָעָבdearthגָּדוֹלgreatיָבוֹאthere-should-beעַל־כׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיthroughout-all-the-dwellers-ofתֵבֵלthe-world:וַיְהִי־כֵןwhich-came-to-passבִּימֵיin-the-days-ofקְלוֹדְיוֹסClaudiusקֵיסָר׃Caesar.

    And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cæsar.

29. 29

    וַיִּוָּעֲצוּThen-determinedהַתַּלְמִידִיםthe-disciples,לִשְׁלֹחַto-sendאִישׁeveryאִישׁmanכַּאֲשֶׁרaccording-asתַּשִּׂיגhad-abilityיָדוֹhis-hand,לְעֶזְרַתrelief-untoהָאַחִיםthe-brethrenהַיֹּשְׁבִיםwhich-dweltבִּיהוּדָה׃in-Judaea:

    Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judæa:

30. 30

    וְכֵןWhichגַּם־עָשׂוּalso-they-did,וַיִּשְׁלְחוּand-sent-itאֶל־הַזְּקֵנִיםto-the-eldersעַל־יְדֵיby-the-hands-ofבַּר־נַבָּאBarnabasוְשָׁאוּל׃and-Saul.

    Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
