1. 1

   וַיְהִיAnd it came to passבְּדַבְּרָםas they spakeאֶל־הָעָםunto the people,וַיָּקוּמוּcame uponעֲלֵיהֶםthemהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priests,וּנְגִידand the captain ofהַמִּקְדָּשׁthe temple,וְהַצַּדּוּקִים׃and the Sadducees,

   And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

2. 2

   כִּי־חָרָהbeing grievedלָהֶםunto them,עַל־אֲשֶׁרthatלִמְּדוּthey taughtאֶת־הָעָםthe people,וְהִגִּידוּand preachedאֶת־תְּחִיַּתthe resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםthe deadבְּיֵשׁוּעַ׃through Jesus.

   Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

3. 3

   וַיִּשְׁלְחוּAnd they laidיָדָםtheir handsבָּהֶםon them,וַיַּנִּיחוּםand put themבַּמִּשְׁמָרin holdלְמׇחֳרַתunto the morrow ofהַיּוֹםthe dayהַהוּאthat:כִּיforהָיָהit wasעָרֶב׃eventide.

   And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

4. 4

   וְרַבִּיםHowbeit manyמֵהַשֹּׁמְעִיםof them which heardאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordהֶאֱמִינוּbelieved;וַיְהִיand wasמִסְפָּרָםthe number of themכַּחֲמֵשֶׁתabout fiveאֲלָפִיםthousandאִישׁ׃men.

   Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

5. 5

   וַיְהִיAnd it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתon the morrow,וַיִּקָּהֲלוּthat were gathered togetherשָׂרֵיהֶםtheir rulers,רָאשֵׁיהֶםtheir heads,וְזִקְנֵיהֶםand elders,וְסוֹפְרֵיהֶם׃and scribes,

   And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

6. 6

   וְחָנָןAnd Annasהַכֹּהֵןthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhigh,וְקַיָּפָאand Caiaphas,וְיוֹחָנָןand John,וַאֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרוֹסand Alexander,וְכֹלand as many asאֲשֶׁרwereמִמִּשְׁפַּחַתof the kindred ofהַכֹּהֵןthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhigh,יְרוּשָׁלָיִם׃were gathered together at Jerusalem.

   And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

7. 7

   וַיַּעֲמִידוּAnd they had setאֹתָםthemבַּתָּוֶךְin the midst,וַיִּשְׁאָלוּםthey asked,לֵאמֹרsaying,בְּאֵי־זֶהBy whatכֹחַpower,וּבְאֵי־זֶהor by whatשֵׁםname,עֲשִׂיתֶםhave you doneזֹאת׃this?

   And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

8. 8

   וַיִּמָּלֵאThen was filledפֶּטְרוֹסPeterרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁwith the Holy Ghost,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,שְׁמָעוּנִיHear you me,רָאשֵׁיrulers ofהָעָםthe people,וְזִקְנֵיand elders ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel,

   Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

9. 9

   אִם־אֲנַחְנוּIf weנֵחָקֵרbe examinedהַיּוֹםthis dayעַל־הַטּוֹבָהof the good deedאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשִׂינוּwe didלְאִישׁto the manחוֹלֶהimpotent,וּשְׁאֶלְתֶּםand you shall askבַּמֶּהby what meansזֶהheנוֹשָׁע׃is made whole;

   If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

10. 10

    יִוָּדַעBe it knownלְכֻלְּכֶםunto you all,וּלְכׇל־עַםand to all the people ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsrael,כִּי־בְשֵׁםthat by the name ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristהַנָּצְרִיof Nazareth,אֲשֶׁרwhomצְלַבְתֶּםyou crucified,וַאֲשֶׁרwhomהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהֱקִימוֹraisedמִן־הַמֵּתִיםfrom the dead,בִּשְׁמוֹby himעֹמֵדdoth standהָאִישׁthe manהַזֶּהthisבָּרִיאwholeלִפְנֵיכֶם׃before you.

    Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11. 11

    וְהוּאThis isהָאֶבֶןthe stoneאֲשֶׁרwhichמְאַסְתֶּםwas set at noughtאַתֶּםof youהַבּוֹנִיםbuilders,וַתְּהִיwhich is becomeלְרֹאשׁthe head ofפִּנָּה׃the corner.

    This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12. 12

    וְאֵיןNeither is thereהַיְשׁוּעָהsalvationבְּאַחֵרin any other:כִּיforלֹאnoneנִתַּןis givenתַּחַתunderהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenשֵׁםnameאַחֵרotherלִבְנֵיamong the children ofאָדָםmen,אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹwherebyנִוָּשֵׁעַ׃we must be saved.

    Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

13. 13

    וַיְהִיNowכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenרָאוּthey sawאֶת־אֹמֶץthe boldness ofלֵבthe heart ofפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוְיוֹחָנָןand John,וְהִבִינוּand perceivedכִּיthatהֶדְיוֹטוֹתunlearnedהֵמָּהthey wereוְלֹאand notבַעֲלֵי־חׇכְמָהmen of learning,וַיִּתְמָהוּthey marvelled;וְהֵםand theyהִכִּירוּtook knowledgeכִּיthatהָיוּhad beenהוֹלְכִיםwalkingעִם־יֵשׁוּעַ׃with Jesus.

    Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

14. 14

    אֲבָלButבִּרְאוֹתָםbeholdingאֶת־הָאִישׁthe manהַנִּרְפָּאwhich was healedעֹמֵדstandingאֶצְלָםwith them,לֹאcould notמָצְאוּfindלְדַבֵּרto sayנֶגְדָּםagainst itדָּבָר׃a word.

    And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

15. 15

    וַיְצַוּוּBut when they had commandedאֹתָםthemלָצֵאתto go asideחוּצָהoutמִסַּנְהֶדְרִיןof the council,וַיִּתְיָעֲצוּthey conferredיַחְדָּו׃among themselves,

    But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמְרוּSaying,מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂהWhat shall we doלָאֲנָשִׁיםto the menהָאֵלֶּהthese?הִנֵּהfor beholdאוֹתa signגָּלוּיmanifestנַעֲשָׂהhath been doneעַל־יְדֵיהֶםby themוְגַם־מְפֻרְסָםand is well knownלְכׇל־יֹשְׁבֵיto all the dwellers ofיְרוּשָׁלָיִםJerusalem;וְלֹאand notנוּכַלwe canלְכַחֶשׁdenyבּוֹ׃it.

    Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

17. 17

    אַךְButלְמַעַןthatלֹא־יִרְבֶּהspread no furtherהַדָּבָרthe thingבָּעָםamong the people,וְיִפְרֹץand break out,נִגְעֲרָה־בָּםlet us straitly threaten them,לְבִלְתִּיthat notדַבֵּרthey speakעוֹדhenceforthלְכׇל־אָדָםto any manבַּשֵּׁםin nameהַזֶּה׃this.

    But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

18. 18

    וַיִּקְּרְאוּAnd they calledאֹתָםthem,וַיְצַוּוּםand commanded themאֲשֶׁרthatלֹא־יְדַבְּרוּnot speakדָבָרat allוְלֹאnorיְלַמְּדוּteachבְּשֵׁםin the name ofיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus.

    And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

19. 19

    וַיַּעֲנוּBut answeredפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוְיוֹחָנָןand Johnוַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,הֲנָכוֹןWhether rightהוּאit beלִפְנֵיin the sight ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodשְׁמֹעַto hearkenלָכֶםunto youיֹתֵרmoreמִשְּׁמֹעַthan to hearkenלֵאלֹהִיםunto God,שִׁפְטוּjudgeאַתֶּם׃you.

    But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

20. 20

    כִּיForלֹאnotנוּכַלcanאֲנַחְנוּweלַחֲדֹלbut ceaseלְדַבֵּרto speakאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthe things whichרָאִינוּwe have seenוְשָׁמָעְנוּ׃and heard.

    For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

21. 21

    וַיּוֹסִיפוּSo when they had furtherלִגְעָר־בָּםthreatened them,וַיִּפְטְרוּthey let goאֹתָםthem,בַּאֲשֶׁרbecauseלֹא־מָצְאוּthey foundדָבָרnothingלַעֲנוֹשׁhow to punishאֹתָםthem,מִפְּנֵיbecause ofהָעָםthe people:כִּיforכֻלָּםall of themמְהַלֲלִיםglorifiedאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGod,עַל־הַנַּעֲשָׂה׃for that which was done.

    So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

22. 22

    כִּיForבֶּן־אַרְבָּעִיםabove fortyשָׁנָהyearsוָמַעְלָהand upwardהָיָהwasהָאִישׁthe man,הַהוּאthatאֲשֶׁרon whomנַעֲשָׂה־עִמּוֹwas shewedאוֹתthe signהָרְפוּאָהof healingהַזֹּאת׃this.

    For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

23. 23

    וְאַחֲרֵיAnd afterהִפָּטְרָםthey were let go,בָּאוּthey wentאֶל־אֲחֵיהֶםunto their brethren,וַיְסַפְּרוּand rehearsedלָהֶםto themאֵת־אֲשֶׁרall thatאָמְרוּhad saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto themרָאשֵׁיthe chief ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsוְהַזְּקֵנִים׃and elders.

    And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

24. 24

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to passכַאֲשֶׁרwhenשָׁמְעוּthey heardאֶת־זֹאתthis,וַיִּשְׂאוּthey lifted upאֶת־קוֹלָםtheir voiceבְּלֵבwith heartאֶחָדoneלֵאלֹהִיםto God,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,אֲדֹנָיLord,אַתָּהyou areהָאֵלGod,הָעֹשֶׂהwhich hast madeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםheaven,וְאֶת־הָאָרֶץand earth,וְאֶת־הַיָּםand the sea,וְאֶת־כׇּלand allאֲשֶׁר־בָּם׃that in them is:

    And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

25. 25

    אֲשֶׁרWhoאָמַרְתָּhast saidבְּפִיby the mouth ofעַבְדְּךָyour servantדָוִדDavidלָמָּהWhyרָגְשׁוּdid rageגוֹיִםthe heathen,וּלְאֻמִיםand the peopleיֶהְגּוּimagineרִיק׃vain things?

    Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

26. 26

    יִתְיַצְּבוּStood upמַלְכֵיthe kings ofאֶרֶץthe earth,וְרוֹזְנִיםand the rulersנוֹסְדוּwere gatheredיָחַדtogether,עַל־יְהוָֹהagainst the LORD,וְעַל־מְשִׁיחוֹ׃and against his Christ.

    The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

27. 27

    כִּיForאׇמְנָםof a truthנוֹסְדוּwere gathered togetherהוֹרְדוֹסHerod,וּפָנְטִיּוֹסand PontiusפִּילָטוֹסPilate,עִם־הַגּוֹיִםwith the Gentiles,וּלְאֻמֵּיand the people ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsrael,עַל־יֵשׁוּעַagainst Jesusעַבְדְּךָyour childהַקָּדוֹשׁholyאֲשֶׁרwhomמָשָׁחְתָּ׃you have anointed,

    For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

28. 28

    לַעֲשׂוֹתFor to doאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatsoeverיָדְךָyour handוַעֲצָתְךָand your counselמִקֶּדֶםbeforeגָּזְרָהdeterminedלִהְיוֹת׃to be done.

    For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

29. 29

    וְעַתָּהAnd now,אֲדֹנָיLord,רְאֵהbeholdאֶת־גַּעֲרָתָםtheir threatenings:וְתֵןand grantלַעֲבָדֶיךָunto your servantsלְדַבֵּרthat they may speakאֶת־דְּבָרְךָyour wordבְּכׇל־אֹמֶץwith all boldness ofלִבָּם׃their heart,

    And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30. 30

    בִּנְטֹתְךָBy stretching forthאֶת־יָדְךָyour handלְמַרְפֵּאto heal,וְלָתֵתand to giveאֹתוֹתsignsוּמוֹפְתִיםand wondersבְּשֵׁםin the name ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusעַבְדְּךָyour childהַקָּדוֹשׁ׃holy.

    By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

31. 31

    וַיְהִיAndכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenהִתְפַּלֲלוּthey had prayed,וַיָּנַעwas shakenהַמָּקוֹםthe placeאֲשֶׁרwhereהָיוּwereנִקְהָלִיםassembledשָׁםtogether;וַיִּמָּלְאוּand they were filledכֻלָּםallרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁwith the Holy Ghost,וַיְדַבְּרוּand they spakeאֶת־דְּבַרthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבְּאֹמֶץwith boldnessלֵבָב׃of heart.

    And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32. 32

    וּקְהַלAnd the multitude ofהַמַּאֲמִינִיםthem that believedהָיָהwereלָהֶםunto themלֵבof heartאֶחָדoneוְנֶפֶשׁand of soulאַחַתone:וְאֵיןneitherאִישׁanyמֵהֶםof themאוֹמֵרsaidעַל־אֲשֶׁרthat ought of the things whichבְּיָדוֹhe possessedלִיwas his ownהוּאit was;כִּיbutהַכֹּלall thingsהָיָהwereלָהֶםto themלְנַחֲלַתcommon inheritance ofכֻּלָּם׃all of them.

    And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33. 33

    וּבִגְבוּרָהAnd with powerרַבָּהgreatיָעִידוּgave witnessהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe apostlesעַל־תְּקוּמַתof the resurrection ofהָאָדוֹןthe LordיֵשׁוּעַJesus:וְחֶסֶדand graceגָּדוֹלgreatהָיָהwasעַלuponכֻּלָּם׃them all.

    And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

34. 34

    כִּיForלֹא־הָיָהwas notבָהֶםamong themחֲסַרlackingדָּבָרany thing:כִּיforכׇל־בַּעֲלֵיas many as were possessors ofשָׂדוֹתlandsוּבָתִּיםor housesמָכְרוּsoldאֹתָםthem,וַיָּבִיאוּand broughtאֶת־כֶּסֶףthe pricesמְחִירָם׃of the things sold.

    Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35. 35

    וַיְשִׂימֻהוּAnd laid them downלְרַגְלֵיat the feet ofהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe apostles:וַיֻּתַּןand distribution was madeלְכׇל־אִישׁunto everyוָאִישׁmanדֵּיaccording asמַחְסֹרוֹ׃he had need.

    And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

36. 36

    וְיוֹסֵףAnd Joses,אֲשֶׁרwhoכִּנּוּהוּwas surnamed byהַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe apostlesבְּשֵׁםby the nameבַּר־נַבָּאBarnabas,פֵּרוּשׁוֹbeing interpreted,בֶן־הַנֶּחָמָהThe son of consolation,אִישׁa manלְבֵיתof the house ofלֵוִיLevi,אֲשֶׁרandנוֹלַדwas bornבְּאֶרֶץof the country ofקִיפְרוֹס׃Cyprus,

    And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

37. 37

    גַּם־לוֹAlso heהָיָהhadשָׂדֶהland,וַיִּמְכְּרֵהוּand sold it,וַיָּבֵאand broughtאֶת־הַכֶּסֶףthe money,וַיְשִׂימֵהוּand laid itלְרַגְלֵיat the feet ofהַשְּׁלִיחִים׃the apostles.

    Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
