1. 1

   וַיֹּאמֶרThen-saidאַגְרִפַּסAgrippaאֶל־פּוֹלוֹסunto-Paul,נִתַּן־לְךָYou-are-permittedלְדַבֵּרto-speakבְּעַדforנַפְשֶׁךָthyself.אָזThenיִצְטַדֵּקanswered-for-himself:פּוֹלוֹסPaulוַיּוֹשֶׁטand-stretched-forthאֶת־יָדוֹthe-hand,וַיֹּאמַר׃and-said,

   Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

   מְאַשֵּׁרthink-happyאֲנִיIנַפְשִׁיmyself,הַמֶּלֶךְkingאַגְרִפַּסAgrippa,כִּיbecauseלְפָנֶיךָbefore-youאֶצְטַדֵּקI-shall-answer-for-myselfהַיּוֹםthis-dayעַל־כֹּלtouching-all-the-thingsאֲשֶׁר־טֹעֲנִיםwhereof-I-am-accusedעָלַיof-meהַיְּהוּדִים׃of-the-Jews:

   I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

   כִּיEspecially-becauseאַתָּהyouיֹדֵעַI-knowהֵיטֵבto-be-expert-inכׇּל־הַמִּנְהָגִיםall-customsוְהַשְּׁאֵלוֹתand-questionsאֲשֶׁרwhich-areבֵּיןamongהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jews:וְעַל־כֵּןwhereforeאֶשְׁאֲלָהI-beseechמֵאִתְּךָyouלִשְׁמֹעַto-hearאֹתִיmeכְּאֹרֶךְwith-longsuffering-ofרוּחֶךָ׃your-spirit-patiently.

   Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

   הִנֵּהbeholdדַּרְכִּיMy-manner-of-lifeמִנְּעוּרַיfrom-my-youth,אֲשֶׁרwhichהִתְהַלַּכְתִּי־בָהּI-walked-inמֵאָזat-the-firstבְּתוֹךְamongעַמִּיmine-own-nationוּבִירוּשָׁלָיִםand-upon-Jerusalemיֹדְעִיםknowאוֹתָהּitכׇּל־הַיְּהוּדִים׃all-the-Jews;

   My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;

   כִּיWhichמִיָּמִיםfrom-the-daysרִאשׁוֹנִיםthe-beginningיְדָעוּנִיknew-me,אִם־יִרְצוּif-they-wouldלְהָעִידtestify,כִּיthatכְּפָרוּשׁa-PhariseeהִתְנַהַגְתִּיI-livedעַל־פִּיafterהַכַּתthe-sectהַמַּקְפֶּדֶתstraitestבְּיוֹתֵרmostבַּעֲבוֹדָתֵנוּ׃of-our-religion.

   Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

   וְעַתָּהAnd-nowאֲנִיIעֹמֵדstandלְהִשָּׁפֵטand-am-judgedעַל־תִּקְוַתfor-the-hope-ofהַהַבְטָחָהthe-promiseאֲשֶׁרwhichהִבְטִיחָהּmade-itהָאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵינוּ׃unto-our-fathers:

   And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:

   וַאֲשֶׁרUnto-which-promiseשְׁנֵיםtwo-andעָשָׂרtenשְׁבָטֵינוּour-tribes,מְיַחֲלִיםhopeלְהַגִּיעַto-comeלָהּunto-it,בְּעָבְדָםinstantly-servingאֶת־יְהוָֹהGodתָּמִידcontinuallyיוֹמָםdayוָלָיְלָהand-night.עַל־דְּבַרFor-the-sake-ofהַתִּקְוָהhopeהַזֹּאתwhich,הַמֶּלֶךְkingאַגְרִפַּסAgrippa,הַיְּהוּדִיםof-the-JewsמְבַקְשִׁיםI-amלְחַיְּבֵנִי׃accused.

   Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

8. 8

   מַדּוּעַWhyיִפָּלֵאshould-it-be-thought-a-thing-incredibleבְעֵינֵיכֶםwith-you,כִּיthatהָאֱלֹהִיםGodיְחַיֶּהshould-raiseמֵתִים׃the-dead?

   Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

9. 9

   הֵןverilyלְפָנִיםbeforeאֲנִיIחָשַׁבְתִּיthought-with-myself,לְדָבָרa-thingהָגוּןthat-I-oughtלִצְרֹרto-do-many-things-contrary-toאֶת־שֵׁםthe-name-ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַנָּצְרִיof-Nazarethעַד־מְאֹד׃exceedingly.

   I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

10. 10

    כַּאֲשֶׁרWhich-thingעָשִׂיתִיI-also-didבִירוּשָׁלָיִםin-Jerusalem:וְגַם־קְדוֹשִׁיםand-of-the-saintsרַבִּיםmanyאֲנִיIהִסְגַּרְתִּיdid-shut-upלְבָתֵּיin-houses-ofכְלָאִיםprison,בָּרְשׁוּתhaving-received-authorityאֲשֶׁרwhichקִבַּלְתִּיI-receivedמֵאֵתfromרָאשֵׁיthe-chiefהַכֹּהֲנִיםpriests;וְעִםand-withהוֹרְגֵיהֶםwhen-they-were-put-to-death,רָצִיתִי׃I-gave-my-voice-against-them.

    Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

11. 11

    וּבְכׇל־בָּתֵּיAnd-in-every-house-ofכְנִסִיּוֹתthe-synagoguesיִסַּרְתִּיI-punishedאֹתָםthemפְּעָמִיםoftרַבּוֹתmany,וַאֲנַסְתִּיםand-compelled-themלְגַדֵּףto-blaspheme;וָאֶתְהוֹלֲלָהand-being-exceedingly-madבָּםagainst-them,עַדuntoמְאֹדexceedinglyוָאֶרְדְּפֵםI-persecuted-themעַד־לֶעָרִיםeven-unto-citiesאֲשֶׁרwhich-wereחוּצָהstrangeלָאָרֶץ׃to-the-land.

    And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

    וַיְהִיWhereuponבְּלֶכְתִּיas-I-wentעַל־הַדָּבָרon-errandהַזֶּהthisלְדַמָּשֶׂקto-Damascusבִּרְשׁוּתwith-authority-ofרָאשֵׁיthe-chiefהַכֹּהֲנִיםpriests,וּבְמִצָוָתָם׃and-commission-from-them,

    Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

    וָאֵרֶאI-saw,אֲדֹנִיmy-lordהַמֶּלֶךְO-king,לְעֵתAtצׇהֳרַיִםmidday,בַּדָּרֶךְin-the-wayוְהִנֵּהbeholdאוֹרa-lightצַחbrightמִזֹּהַרabove-the-brightness-ofהַשֶּׁמֶשׁthe-sun,אֲשֶׁרwhichמִשָּׁמַיִםfrom-heavenנָגַהּshiningמִסָּבִיבround-aboutעָלַיmeוְעַלandהַהֹלְכִיםthem-which-journeyedאִתִּי׃with-me.

    At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

14. 14

    וַנִפֹּלAnd-when-were-fallenכֻּלָּנוּwe-allאָרְצָהto-the-earth,וָאֶשְׁמַעI-heardקוֹלa-voiceמְדַּבֵּרspeakingאֵלַיunto-me,בְּלָשׁוֹןin-the-tongue,עִבְרִיתHebrewלֵאמֹרand-sayingשָׁאוּלSaul,שָׁאוּלSaul,לָמָּהwhyתִרְדְּפֵנִיpersecute-you-me?קָשֶׁהit-is-hardלְךָfor-youלִבְעֹטto-kickבַּדָּרְבֹנוֹת׃against-the-pricks.

    And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

15. 15

    וָאֹמַרAnd-I-said,מִיWhoאַתָּהare-you,אֲדֹנִיLord?וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-he-said,אָנֹכִיI-amיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲשֶׁרwhomאַתָּהyouרֹדֵף׃persecutest.

    And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

16. 16

    אֲבָלButקוּםrise,וַעֲמֹדand-standעַל־רַגְלֶיךָupon-your-feet:כִּיforבַּעֲבוּרfor-purposeזֹאתthisנִרְאֵיתִיI-have-appearedאֵלֶיךָunto-you,בַּעֲבוּרtoאֶבְחַרmakeבְּךָyouלִמְשָׁרֵתa-ministerוּלְעֵדand-a-witnessהַדְּבָרִיםboth-of-these-thingsאֲשֶׁרwhichרָאִיתָyou-have-seen,וָאֲשֶׁרand-of-those-things-in-the-whichאֵרָאֶהI-will-appearאֵלֶיךָ׃unto-you;

    But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

17. 17

    בְּהַצִּילִיDeliveringאוֹתְךָyouמִן־הָעָםfrom-the-people,וּמִן־הַגּוֹיִםand-from-the-Gentiles,אֲשֶׁרunto-whomאֶשְׁלָחֲךָI-send-youעַתָּהnowאֲלֵיהֶם׃unto-them,

    Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

18. 18

    לִפְקֹחַTo-openאֶת־עֵינֵיהֶםtheir-eyes,לְמַעַןthatיָשׁוּבוּthey-may-turnמֵחֹשֶׁךְfrom-darknessלְאוֹרto-light,וּמְיַּדand-from-the-power-ofהַשָּׂטָןSatanאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםunto-God,וְהֶאֱמִינוּby-faith-that-is-in-meוְנִסְלַחthat-they-may-receive-forgivenessלְחַטֹּאתָםof-sins,וְהָיְתָהandלָהֶםto-themהַנַּחֲלָהinheritanceבְּתוֹךְamongהַמְקֻדָּשִׁים׃them-which-are-sanctified.

    To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

19. 19

    עַל־כֵּןWhereupon,הַמֶּלֶךְO-kingאַגְרִפַּסAgrippa,לֹאnotהִמְרֵיתִיI-was-disobedientאֶת־הַמַּרְאֶהunto-the-visionאֲשֶׁרwhichרָאִיתִיI-sawמִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם׃heavenly:

    Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

20. 20

    כִּיButאִם־קָרָאתִיshewedרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstלְיֹשְׁבֵיunto-them-ofדַּמֶּשֶׂקDamascus,וִירוּשָׁלַיִםand-at-Jerusalem,וּבְכׇל־אֶרֶץand-throughout-all-the-coasts-ofיְהוּדָהJudaea,וְגַםand-thenלַגּוֹיִםto-the-Gentiles,לֵאמֹרsayingהִנָּחֲמוּthat-they-should-repentוְשׁוּבוּand-turnאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםto-God,וַעֲשׂוּand-doמַעֲשִׂיםworksרְאוּיִםmeetלַתְּשׁוּבָה׃for-repentance.

    But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judæa, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

21. 21

    וּבִגְלַלForהַדָּבָרcausesהַזֶּהtheseתָּפְשׂוּcaughtאֹתִיmeהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jewsבַּמִּקְדָּשׁin-the-temple,וַיְבַקְשׁוּand-went-aboutלַהֲמִיתֵנִי׃to-kill-me.

    For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.

22. 22

    וְהָאֱלֹהִיםof-God,הָיָהHaving-therefore-obtainedבְעֶזְרִיhelpוְעַד־הַיּוֹםunto-dayהַזֶּהthis,עֹמֵדI-continueאֲנִיIוּמֵעִידwitnessingלִפְנֵיboth-toקָטֹןsmallוְגָדוֹלand-great,וְאֵינֶנִּיand-notמְדַבֵּרsayingדָּבָרthingsזוּלָתִיnone-other-thanהַדְּבָרִיםthoseאֲשֶׁרwhichהִגִּידוּdid-sayהַנְּבִיאִיםthe-prophetsוּמשֶׁהand-Mosesכִּי־עֲתִידִיםthat-shouldהֵמָּהtheyלָבֹא׃come:

    Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

23. 23

    שֶׁעָתִידThat-shouldהַמָּשִׁיחַChristלְהֵעָנוֹתsuffer,וְלָקוּםand-that-he-should-riseרִאשׁוֹןthe-firstמִן־הַמֵּתִיםfrom-the-dead,לְהָפִיץand-should-shewאוֹרlightבָּעָםunto-the-people,וּבַגּוֹיִם׃and-to-the-Gentiles.

    That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

24. 24

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passהוּאas-heמִצְטַדֵּקthus-spake-for-himself,בָּזֹאתin-thisוַיִּקְרָאsaidפֶסְטוֹסFestusבְּקוֹלwith-a-voice,גָּדוֹלloudלֵאמֹרsaying,הִנְּךָyou-areמִשְׁתַּגֵּעַbeside-thyself;פּוֹלוֹסPaul,רֹבmuchהַלִּמּוּדlearningהֱבִיאֲךָdoth-make-youלִידֵיuntoשִׁגָּעוֹן׃mad.

    And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמֶרBut-he-said,פּוֹלוֹסPaulאֵינֶנִּיI-am-notמְשֻׁגָּעmad,פֶּסְטוֹסFestus;הָאַדִּירmost-nobleכִּיbutאִם־דִּבְרֵיspeak-forth-the-words-ofאֱמֶתtruthוָטַעַםand-sobernessאַבִּיעַ׃I-utter.

    But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

26. 26

    כִּיForהַמֶּלֶךְthe-kingיוֹדֵעַknowethאֶת־אֵלֶּהof-these-things,וְעַל־זֹאתwhereforeבְּבִטָּחוֹןfreelyאֲנִיIמְדַבֵּרspeakאֵלָיוbefore-him:כִּיforאֶחְשֹׁבI-am-persuadedשֶׁלּא־נֶעְלַםthat-none-are-hiddenמִמֶּנּוּfrom-himדָּבָרthingמִן־הַדְּבָרִיםof-these-thingsהָאֵלֶּהthese;כִּיforלֹא־בְקֶרֶןnot-in-a-cornerזָוִיתcornerנֶעֶשְׂתָהwas-doneזֹאת׃this-thing.

    For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

27. 27

    הַמֶּלֶךְKingאַגְרִפַּסAgrippa,הֲמַאֲמִיןbelievestאַתָּהyouבַּנְּבִיאִיםthe-prophets?יָדַעְתִּיI-knowכִּיthatמַאֲמִיןbelievestאָתָּה׃you.

    King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen-saidאַגְרִפַּסAgrippaאֶל־פּוֹלוֹסunto-Paul,עוֹדAlmostמְעַטa-littleוּפִתִּיתַנִיyou-persuadest-meלִהְיוֹתto-beנָצְרִי׃a-Christian.

    Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd-Paul-said,אֲבַקְשָׁהI-wouldמֵאֱלֹהִיםto-God,אֲשֶׁרthatבְּקָרוֹבboth-almost,אוֹorבְרָחוֹקaltogether,לֹאnotאַתָּהyouכִּי־גַםonlyלְבַדְּךָthyself,כִּי־גַםbut-alsoכׇּל־הַשֹּׁמְעִיםall-that-hearאוֹתִיmeיִהְיוּthis-day,-wereכָמוֹנִיsuch-as-I-am,זוּלָתִיexceptהַמּוֹסֵרוֹתbondsהָאֵלֶּה׃these.

    And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

30. 30

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבְּדַבְּרוֹwhen-he-had-spokenהַדָּבָרthusהַזֶּהthis,וַיָּקׇםrose-up,הַמֶָּלֶךְthe-kingוְהַהֶגְמוֹןand-the-governor,וּבֶרְנִיקָהand-Bernice,וְהַיֹּשְׁבִיםand-they-that-satאִתָּם׃with-them:

    And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:

31. 31

    וַיָּבֹאוּAnd-when-they-were-goneהַחַדְרָהaside,וַיְדַבְּרוּthey-talkedאִישׁoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּbetween-another,לֵאמֹרsaying,הָאִישׁmanהַזֶּהThisלֹא־עָשָׂהdoeth-nothingדָבָרthingאֲשֶׁרwhichיִהְיֶהshould-beעָלָיוupon-himחַיַּבworthy-ofמִיתָהdeathאוֹorמוֹסֵרוֹת׃of-bonds.

    And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen-saidאַגְרִפַּסAgrippaאֶל־פֶּסְטוֹסunto-Festus,הָאִישׁmanהַזֶּהThisיוּכַלmightלָצֵאתhave-been-setחׇפְשִׁיat-liberty,לוּלֵאif-he-had-notקָרָאappealedאֶת־קֵיסַרunto-Caesarלְדִינוֹ׃for-his-judgment.

    Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Cæsar.
