   And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenקָרְאוּ־לוֹka/re/U-lothey called himוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/chelbeganטַרְטֻלּוֹסTar/tul/LOSTertullusלִשְׂטֹןlis/TONto accuseאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidעַל־יָדְךָal-ya/de/KHAby your handיָשַׁבְנוּya/SHAV/nuwe have dweltבְּשָׁלוֹםbe/sha/LOMin peaceרָבravmuchוְטוֹבוֹתve/to/VOTand good thingsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUhave been doneלָעָםla/AMfor the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבִּפְקֻדָּתְךָ׃bif/kud/da/te/KHAby your providence

   And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,

   פִילִיכַסFi/li/KHASFelixהָאַדִּירha/ad/DIRmost excellentעַל־אֵלֶּהal-EL/lefor these thingsאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweמוֹדִיםmo/DIMgive thanksלְךָle/KHAto youתָּמִידta/MIDalwaysוּבְכׇל־מָקוֹם׃u/ve/KHOL-ma/KOMand in every place

   We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notאוֹגִיעֲךָo/gi/a/KHAthat I weary youהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmuchעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיִהְיוּyih/YUwill beדְבָרֵינוּde/va/re/NUour wordsמְעַטִּיםme/at/TIMfewוְאֶתְחַנֵּןve/et/chan/NENand I imploreאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khayouכִּיkithatתִשְׁמָעֵנוּtish/ma/e/NUyou would hear usכְּחֶמְלָתֶךָ׃ke/chem/la/te/KHAin your clemency

   Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.

   כִּיkiforמָצָאנוּma/TSA/nuwe have foundאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכְּקֶטֶבke/KE/tevas a plagueוּמְגָרֶהu/me/ga/REand stirring upמִדְיָנִיםmid/ya/NIMstrifeבֵּיןbenamongכׇּל־הַיְּהוּדִיםkol-Hay/ye/hu/DIMall the Jewsעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEover the face ofתֵבֵלte/VELthe worldוְהוּאve/HUand he isרֹאשׁrosha head ofכַּתkatthe sect ofהַנָּצְרִים׃han/Na/tse/RIMthe Nazarenes

   For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

   וְהוּאve/HUand heגַם־נִסָּהgam-nis/SAalso triedלְחַלֵּלle/chal/LELto profaneאֶת־הַמִּקְדָּשׁet-ham/mik/DASHthe templeוַנִּתְפֹּשׂvan/nit/POSand we seizedאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוַנַּחְפֹּץvan/nach/POTSand we wishedלְשָׁפְטוֹle/sha/fe/TOto judge himעַל־פִּיal-piaccording toתוֹרָתֵנוּ׃to/ra/te/NUour law

   Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuon usלוּסִיאַסLu/si/ASLysiasשַׂר־הָאֶלֶףsar-ha/E/lefthe captain of the thousandבְּרׇב־כֹּחַbe/ROV-KO/achwith much forceוַיַּחְטְפֵהוּvay/yach/te/fe/HUand snatched himמִיָּדֵינוּ׃miy/ya/DE/nufrom our hands

   But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,

   וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedאֶת־שֹׂטְנָיוet-sot/NAYVhis accusersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָבֹאוּya/VO/uthey comeלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youכִּי־תַחֲקֹרki-ta/cha/KORby examiningאֹתוֹo/TOhimתּוּכַלtu/KHALyou will be ableלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowמִפִּיהוּmip/PI/hufrom his mouthאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMfor themאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweשֹׂטְנִיםsot/NIMaccuseאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

   Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.

   וַיְמַלְאוּvay/mal/Uand confirmedהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsאֶת־דְּבָרָיוet-de/va/RAYVhis wordsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכִּי־כֵןki-khenthat soהוּא׃huit was

   And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.

    וַיָּנֶףvay/YA/nefand wavedהַהֶגְמוֹןha/heg/MONthe governorיָדוֹya/DOhis handלְפוֹלוֹסle/Fo/LOSto Paulלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיַעַןYA/ansinceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatזֶהzeit isכַּמֶּהkam/MEseveralשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsשׁוֹפֵטsho/FETa judgeאַתָּהat/TAare youלָעָםla/AMto the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמִצְטַדֵּקmits/tad/DEKdefend myselfעַל־עִנְיָנַיal-in/ya/NAYconcerning my affairsוְלִבִּיve/lib/BIand my heartבָּטוּחַ׃ba/TU/achis confident

    Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

    אַתָּהat/TAyouתוּכַלtu/KHALare ableלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotעָבְרוּa/ve/RUhave passedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveיוֹםyomdaysמֵעֵתme/ETsince the timeעֲלוֹתִיa/lo/TII went upיְרוּשָׁלַיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת׃le/hish/ta/cha/VOTto bow down

    Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.

12. 12

    וְלֹאve/LOand notבַמִּקְדָּשׁvam/mik/DASHin the templeמְצָאוּנִיme/tsa/U/nithey found meמִתְוַכֵּחַmit/vak/KE/achdisputingעִם־אִישׁim-ishwith a manאוֹ־מְעוֹרֵרo-me/o/RERor stirring upמְהוּמָהme/hu/MAa commotionבָּעָםba/AMamong the peopleוְלֹאve/LOand notבְּבָתֵּיbe/vat/TEin the houses ofהַכְּנֶסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyוְלֹאve/LOand notבָעִיר׃va/IRin the city

    And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:

13. 13

    גַּםgamalsoלֹאlonotיוּכְלוּyukh/LUcan theyלְהוֹכִיחַle/ho/KHI/achproveאֵתetwhatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשֹׂטְנִיםsot/NIMthey accuseאֹתִיo/TImeעַתָּה׃at/TAnow

    Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.

14. 14

    אֲבָלa/VALbutאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisמוֹדֶהmo/DEconfessאֲנִיa/NIIלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youכִּיkithatבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayהַהִיאha/HIthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִקְרָאוּהָyik/ra/u/HAthey call itבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMby the name ofכַּתkata sectבָּהּbain itאֲנִיa/NIIעֹבֵדo/VEDserveאֶת־אֱלֹהֵיet-e/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבוֹתַיa/vo/TAYmy fathersבְּהַאֲמִינִיbe/ha/a/mi/NIbelievingבְּכׇל־הַכָּתוּבbe/KHOL-hak/ka/TUVin all that is writtenבַּתּוֹרָהbat/to/RAin the lawוּבַנְּבִיאִים׃u/van/ne/vi/IMand in the prophets

    But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

15. 15

    וַאֲקַוֶּהva/a/kav/VEand I hopeלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMin Godכִּיkithatתִהְיֶהtih/YEthere shall beתְּחִיַּתte/chiy/YATa resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadלַצַּדִּיקִיםlats/tsad/di/KIMfor the righteousוְלָרְשָׁעִיםve/la/re/sha/IMand for the wickedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichגַּם־הֵםgam-hemthey alsoיְחַכּוּ־לָהּ׃ye/chak/KU-lawait for it

    And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

16. 16

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֲנִיa/NIdo Iעָמֵלa/MELlaborלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלִיlifor meלֵבleva heartטָהוֹרta/HORpureעִםimwithאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְאָדָםve/a/DAMand manתָּמִיד׃ta/MIDalways

    And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

17. 17

    וּמִקֵּץu/mik/KETSand at the end ofשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyבָּאתִיBA/tiI cameלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringצְדָקוֹתtse/da/KOTalmsלְעַמִּיle/am/MIto my peopleוּלְהַקְרִיבu/le/hak/RIVand to offerקָרְבָּנוֹת׃kar/ba/NOTofferings

    Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.

18. 18

    וּבָאֵלֶּהu/va/el/LEand in theseמְצָאוּנִיme/tsa/U/nifound meאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenיְהוּדִיםYe/hu/DIMJewsמֵאַסְיָאme/As/YAfrom Asiaאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהִטַּהֲרִיhit/ta/ha/RImy purifyingבַּמִּקְדָּשׁbam/mik/DASHin the templeלֹאlonotבַהֲמוֹן־עָםva/ha/MON-amwith a crowd of peopleוְלֹאve/LOand notבִּמְהוּמָה׃bim/hu/MAwith commotion

    Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.

19. 19

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMon themהָיָהha/YAit wasלַעֲמׇד־פֹּהla/a/MOD-poto stand hereלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוְלַעֲנוֹתve/la/a/NOTand to answerבִּיbiagainst meאִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif there isלָהֶםla/HEMto themדְּבַרde/VARa matter ofרִיבrivdisputeעָלָי׃a/LAYagainst me

    Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.

20. 20

    אוֹoorאֵלֶּהEL/letheseפֹהfohereיַגִּידוּ־נָאyag/GI/du-nalet them tell nowמַה־מָּצְאוּma-ma/tse/Uwhat they foundבִיviin meעָוֶלA/velwrongבְּעׇמְדִיbe/om/DIwhen I stoodלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeסַנְהֶדְרִין׃San/hed/RINthe Sanhedrin

    Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,

21. 21

    בִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptאִם־הַקּוֹלim-hak/KOLif the voiceהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADoneהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatקָרָאתִיka/RA/tiI criedבְּעׇמְדִיbe/om/DIas I stoodבְתוֹכָםve/to/KHAMamong themכִּיkithatעַל־תְּחִיַּתal-te/chiy/YATconcerning the resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadאֲנִיa/NIIנִדּוֹןnid/DONam being judgedהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayלִפְנֵיכֶם׃lif/ne/KHEMbefore you

    Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardפִילִיכַסFi/li/KHASFelixאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיַּעֲבֵרvay/ya/a/VERand he put offאֶת־דִּינָםet-di/NAMtheir caseלְעֵתle/ETto a timeאַחֶרֶתa/CHE/retotherכִּיkiforעִנְיְנֵיin/ye/NEthe matters ofהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe wayהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisנוֹדְעוּnod/Uwere knownלוֹloto himהֵיטֵבhe/TEVwellוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבְּרֶדֶתbe/RE/detwhen comes downאֵלַיe/LAYto meלוּסִיאַסLu/si/ASLysiasשַׂרsarthe captain ofהָאֶלֶףha/E/lefthe thousandאֶשְׁפֹּטesh/POTI will judgeמִשְׁפַּטְכֶם׃mish/pat/KHEMyour case

    And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedאֶת־שַׂרet-sarthe captain ofהַמֵּאָהham/me/Athe hundredלָשׂוּםla/SUMto putאֶת־פּוֹלוֹסet-Po/LOSPaulבַּמִּשְׁמָרbam/mish/MARin custodyוְלָתֵת־לוֹve/la/TET-loand to give himרְוָחָהre/va/CHAreliefוּלְבִלְתִּיu/le/vil/TIand notמְנֹעַme/NO/ato keepאִישׁishanyoneמִמְּיֻדָּעָיוmim/me/yud/da/AYVof his acquaintancesמִשָּׁרֵתmish/sha/RETfrom servingאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוּמִבּוֹאu/mib/BOand from comingאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterיָמִיםya/MIMdaysאֲחָדִיםa/cha/DIMsomeבָּאbacameפִילִיכַסFi/li/KHASFelixהוּאhuheוּדְרוּסִלָּהu/De/ru/sil/LAand Drusillaאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeוְהִיאve/HIand she wasיְהוּדִיתYe/hu/DITa Jewessוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHhe sentלִקְרֹאlik/ROto callלְפוֹלוֹסle/Fo/LOSfor Paulוַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand he listenedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARconcerningהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAthe faithבַּמָּשִׁיחַ׃bam/Ma/SHI/achin the Messiah

    And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּדַבְּרוֹke/dab/be/ROas he spokeעַל־הַצֶּדֶקal-hats/TSE/dekabout righteousnessוְעַל־הִנָּזֵרve/AL-hin/na/ZERand about self-restraintוְעַל־הַדִּיןve/AL-had/DINand about the judgmentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isיָבוֹאya/VOto comeוַיֶּחֱרַדvay/ye/che/RADand trembledפִילִיכַסFi/li/KHASFelixוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidלֶךְ־נָאlekh-nago nowעַתָּהat/TAfor nowוְכִיve/KHIand whenיִהְיֶה־לִּיyih/YE-liwill be to meעֵתeta timeאָשׁוּבa/SHUVI will againלִקְרֹא־לָךְ׃lik/RO-lakhcall for you

    And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

    וְהוּאve/HUand heמְקַוֶּהme/kav/VEwas hopingלְפוֹלוֹסle/Fo/LOSof Paulכִּיkithatיִתֶּן־לוֹyit/TEN-lohe would give himכֶּסֶףKE/sefmoneyלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיַתִּירֵהוּyat/ti/re/HUhe might loose himוּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand for the sake ofזֶהzethisקָרָאka/RAhe calledלוֹlofor himפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmanyוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.

    But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
