1. 1

   וְאַחֲרֵיAnd-afterאֲשֶׁרthatשָׁקְטָהwas-ceased,הַמְּהוּמָהthe-uproarקָרָאcalled-unto-himפוֹלוֹסPaulלַתַּלְמִידִיםthe-disciples,וַיְבָרֲכֵםand-embraced-them,וַיֵּצֵאand-departedלָלֶכֶתfor-to-goלְמַקְדּוֹנְיָא׃into-Macedonia.

   And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

2. 2

   וַיַּעֲבֹרAnd-when-he-had-gone-overבַּמְּדִינוֹתpartsהָהֵןthose,וַיַּזְהֵרand-had-given-exhortationאֹתָםthemבִּדְבָרִיםwith-wordsרַבִּיםmuch,וַיָּבֹאhe-cameאֶל־אֶרֶץinto-the-land-ofיָוָן׃Greece,

   And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

3. 3

   וַיֵּשֶׁבAnd-there-abodeשָׁםthereשְׁלֹשָׁהthreeחֳדָשִׁיםmonths.וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבְּאׇמְרוֹas-he-was-aboutלָלֶכֶתto-sailאֶל־סוּרְיָאinto-Syria,וַיֶּאֶרְבוּ־לוֹwhen-laid-wait-for-himהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jewsוַיִּוָּעַץhe-purposedלָשׁוּבto-returnדֶּרֶךְthroughמַקְדּוֹנְיָא׃Macedonia.

   And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

4. 4

   וַיֵּלְכוּAnd-there-wentאִתּוֹwith-himעַדintoלְאַסְיָאAsiaסוֹפַטְרוֹסSopaterהַבְּרוֹאִיof-Berea;וּמִן־הַתַּסְלוֹנִיקִיםand-of-the-Thessalonians,אֲרִסְטַרְכוֹסAristarchusוּסְקוֹנְדוֹסand-Secundus;וְגָיוֹסand-Gaiusהַדֶּרְבִּיof-Derbe,וְטִימוֹתִיּוֹסand-Timotheus;וּמִן־אַסְיָאand-of-Asia,טוּכִיקוֹסTychicusוּטְרוֹפִימוֹס׃and-Trophimus.

   And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

   וְהֵםTheseהָלְכוּgoingלְפָנֵינוּbeforeוַיּוֹחִילוּtarriedלָנוּfor-usבִּטְרוֹאָס׃at-Troas.

   These going before tarried for us at Troas.

6. 6

   וַאֲנַחְנוּAnd-weיָצָאנוּsailed-awayמִן־פִילִפִּיfrom-Philippiאַחֲרֵיafterיְמֵיthe-days-ofחַג־הַמַּצּוֹתunleavened-bread,וּמִקֵּץand-inחֲמִשָּׁהfiveיָמִיםdaysבָּאנוּcameבׇאֳנִיָּהin-a-shipאֲלֵיהֶםunto-themאֶל־טְרוֹאַסto-Troas;וַנֵּשֶׁבwhere-we-abodeשָׁםthereשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִים׃days.

   And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

   וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבְּאֶחָדupon-the-first-dayבַּשַּׁבָּתof-the-week,כַּאֲשֶׁרwhenנֶאֶסְפוּcame-togetherהַתַּלְמִידִיםthe-disciplesלִבְצֹעַto-breakהַלֶּחֶםbread,וַיְדַבֵּרpreachedאִתָּםunto-them,פּוֹלוֹסPaulכִּי־אָמַרreadyלָלֶכֶתto-departמִשָּׁםthenceלְמׇחֳרַתon-the-morrow-ofהַיּוֹםthe-day;וַיַּאֲרֵךְand-continuedהַדָּבָרhis-speechעַד־חֲצוֹתuntil-the-middle-ofהַלָּיְלָה׃the-night.

   And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

8. 8

   וְנֵרוֹתAnd-there-were-lightsרַבִּיםmanyדֹּלְקִיםburningבָּעֲלִיָּהin-the-upper-chamber,אֲשֶׁרwhereנֶאֱסַפְנוּthey-were-gathered-togetherשָׁם׃there.

   And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

9. 9

   וּבָחוּרAnd-a-young-manאֶחָדcertainאַבְטוּכוֹסEutychusשְׁמוֹnamedיֹשֵׁבsatבַּחַלּוֹןin-a-window,וַיֵּרָדֵםbeing-fallen-into-a-deep-sleep:בְּהַאֲרִיךְand-as-was-long-preaching,פּוֹלוֹסPaulאֶת־אִמְרָתוֹhis-speechוַתִּגְבַּרhe-sunk-downעָלָיוupon-himשְׁנָתוֹwith-sleep,וַיִּפֹּלand-fell-downמֵהַמָּדוֹרfrom-the-loftהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthird,לְמַטָּהbeneath,וַיִּשָׂאֻהוּand-was-taken-upוְהוּאand-he-wasמֵת׃dead.

   And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10. 10

    וַיֵּרֶדAnd-went-down,פּוֹלוֹסPaulוַיִּגְהַרand-fellעָלָיוon-him,וַיְחַבְּקֵהוּand-embracing-himוַיֹּאמֶרsaid,אַל־תִּבָּהֲלוּTrouble-not-yourselves;כִּיforנִשְׁמָתוֹhis-lifeבּוֹ׃is-in-him.

    And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

11. 11

    וְאַחַרthereforeעָלָהWhen-he-was-come-up-again,וַיִּבְצַעand-had-brokenהַלֶּחֶםbread,וַיִּטְעַםand-eaten,וַיֶּרֶבand-talked-a-long-whileלָשִׂיחַspeakingאִתָּםwith-them,עַד־אוֹרeven-till-the-break-ofהַבֹּקֶרday,וַיֵּצֵאso-he-departedלָלֶכֶתto-goלְדַרְכּוֹ׃on-his-way.

    When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

12. 12

    וְהֵםAnd-theyהֵבִיאוּbroughtאֶת־הַנַּעַרthe-young-manחָיalive,וַיְנֻחֲמוּand-were-comfortedעַד־מְאֹד׃not-a-little.

    And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

13. 13

    וַאֲנַחְנוּAnd-weקִדַּמְנוּwent-beforeלָרֶדֶתto-go-downבַּאֳנִיָּהto-ship,וַנַּעֲבֹרand-sailedאַסּוֹסָהunto-Assos,לָקַחַת־שָׁםthere-intending-to-take-inאִתָּנוּwith-usאֶת־פּוֹלוֹסPaul:כִּי־כֵןfor-soצִוָּהhad-he-appointed,וְהוּאhe-himselfאֹמֵרmindingלָלֶכֶתto-goשָׁמָּהthitherבְּרַגְלָיו׃afoot.

    And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

14. 14

    וַיִּפְגֹשׁAnd-when-he-met-withאֹתָנוּusבְּאַסּוֹסat-Assos,וַנִּקַּחwe-took-inאֹתוֹhim,וַנָּבֹאand-cameאֶל־מִיטוּלִינִי׃to-Mitylene.

    And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

15. 15

    וּמִשָּׁםAnd-thenceיָצָאנוּwe-sailedבׇאֳנִיָּהin-a-ship,וַנִּפְגַּעand-cameמִמׇּחֳרָתthe-next-dayאֶל־מוּלover-againstכִּיּוֹסChios;וּבַיּוֹםand-the-dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיnextעָבַרְנוּwe-arrivedאֶלatסָמוֹסSamos,וַנָּלֶןand-tarriedבִּטְרוֹגוּלְיוֹןat-Trogyllium;וּלְמׇחֳרָתוֹand-the-next-dayבָּאנוּwe-cameאֶל־מִילִיטוֹס׃to-Miletus.

    And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

16. 16

    כִּי־פוֹלוֹסFor-Paulאָמַרhad-determinedלַעֲבֹרto-sailמֵעַל־פְּנֵיbyאֶפֶסוֹסEphesus,לְבִלְתִּיbecause-he-would-notהִצְטָרֵךְneedלְהִתְמַהְמֵהַּto-spend-the-timeבְּאַסְיָאin-Asia:כִּיforאָץhe-hasted,אוּלַיif-it-were-possibleיוּכַלfor-him,לָבוֹאto-beלְחַגat-the-feast-ofהַשָּׁבוּעוֹתPentecostיְרוּשָׁלָיִם׃at-Jerusalem.

    For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17. 17

    וּמִמִּילִיטוֹסAnd-from-Miletusשָׁלַחhe-sentאֶל־אֶפְסוֹסto-Ephesus,וַיִּקְרַאand-calledאֶת־זִקְנֵיthe-elders-ofהַקְּהִילָּה׃the-church.

    And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

18. 18

    וַיָּבֹאוּAnd-when-they-were-comeאֵלָיוto-him,וַיֹּאמֶרhe-saidלָהֶםunto-them,אַתֶּםYouיְדַעְתֶּםknow,אֵת־אֲשֶׁרafter-what-mannerהָיִיתִיI-have-beenעִמָּכֶםwith-youבְּכׇל־עֵתat-all-seasons,לְמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom-the-dayהָרִאשׁוֹןfirstאֲשֶׁרthatדָּרְכָהtrodרַגְלִיmy-footבְּאַסְיָא׃into-Asia,

    And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

19. 19

    אֲשֶׁרwhichעָבַדְתִּיServingאֶת־הָאָדוֹןthe-Lordבַּעֲנָוָהwith-all-humility-of-mind,וּבִדְמָעוֹתand-with-tearsהַרְבֵּהmany,וּבְמַסּוֹתand-temptations,הַמֹּצְאוֹתwhich-befellאֹתִיmeבְּנִכְלֵיby-the-lying-in-wait-ofהַיְּהוּדִים׃the-Jews:

    Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

20. 20

    וְלֹא־כִחַדְתִּיAnd-how-I-kept-backמִכֶּםfrom-youכׇּל־דְּבַרnothing-that-wasתּוֹעֶלֶתprofitable,וְהִגַּדְתִּיוbut-have-shewed-itלָכֶםyou,וְלִמַּדְתִּיand-have-taughtאֶתְכֶםyouבָּרַבִּיםpublickly,וּבְכׇל־בָּיִתand-from-houseוָבָיִת׃to-house,

    And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

21. 21

    וָאַזְהֵרTestifying-both-toהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jews,וְהַיְּוָנִיםand-also-to-the-Greeks,עַל־הַתְּשׁוּבָהrepentanceלֵאלֹהִיםtoward-God,וְעַלandהָאֱמוּנָהfaithבַּאֲדֹנֵינוּtoward-our-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃Christ.

    Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22. 22

    וְעַתָּהAnd-now,הִנְנִיbehold,-Iהֹלֵךְgoיְרוּשָׁלָיִםunto-Jerusalemוַאֲנִיand-Iאֲסִירbound-inהָרוּחַthe-spirit,וְלֹאnotאֵדַעknowingמַה־יִּקְרֵנִיthe-things-that-shall-befall-meשָׁם׃there:

    And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23. 23

    אֶפֶסSaveכִּי־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthat-the-Holy-Ghostמֵעִידwitnessethבְּכׇל־עִירin-every-cityוָעִירand-city,לֵאמֹרsayingכִּי־מוֹסֵרוֹתthat-bondsוְצָרוֹתand-afflictionsנָכוֹנוּabideלִי׃me.

    Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24. 24

    וְאָנֹכִיBut-Iלֹאnone-ofאָחוּשׁam-moved-byלְאַחַתoneמֵהֵנָּהof-these-things,וְגַם־נַפְשִׁיneither-my-lifeלֹאnotיָקְרָהcount-I-dearבְעֵינָיunto-myself,מִכַּלּוֹתso-that-I-might-finishבְּשִׂמְחָהwith-joyאֶת־מְרוּצָתִיmy-course,וְאֶת־הַשֵּׁרוּתand-the-ministry,אֲשֶׁרwhichקִבַּלְתִּיI-have-receivedמֵאֵתofהָאָדוֹןthe-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesus,לְהָעִידto-testifyעַל־בְּשׂוֹרַתthe-gospel-ofחֶסֶדthe-grace-ofאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

25. 25

    וְעַתָּהAnd-now,הִנֵּהbehold,אָנֹכִיIיֹדֵעַknowכִּיthatאַתֶּםyouכֻּלְּכֶםall,אֲשֶׁרamong-whomהִתְהַלַּכְתִּיI-have-goneבְּקִרְבְּכֶםamong-youהַלוֹךְgoingוְהַשְׁמֵעַand-preachingאֶת־מַלְכוּתthe-kingdom-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordכִּיthatלֹא־תוֹסִיפוּshall-noעוֹדmoreרְאוֹתseeפָּנָי׃my-face.

    And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

26. 26

    עַל־כֵּןWhereforeמֵעִידtake-to-recordאֲנִיIבָכֶםyouהַיּוֹםdayהַזֶּהthis,כִּי־נָקִיthat-pureאָנֹכִיI-amמִדְּמֵיfrom-the-blood-ofכֻלְּכֶם׃all-men.

    Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

27. 27

    כִּיForלֹאnotכִחַדְתִּיI-have-shunnedמֵהַגִּידto-declareלָכֶםunto-youאֶת־עֲצַתthe-counsel-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodכֻּלָּהּ׃all.

    For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

28. 28

    לָכֵןthereforeשִׁמְרוּTake-heedאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶםunto-yourselves,וְאֶת־כׇּל־הָעֵדֶרand-to-all-the-flock,אֲשֶּׁרover-the-whichבּוֹin-itהֵקִיםhath-madeאֶתְכֶםyouרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁthe-Holy-Ghostלִפְקִידִיםoverseers,לִרְעוֹתto-feedאֶת־עֲדַתthe-church-ofיְהוָֹהGod,אֲשֶּׁרwhichקָנָה־לוֹhe-hath-purchasedבְּדָמוֹwith-his-bloodשֶׁלּוֹ׃his-own.

    Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

29. 29

    כִּיForיֹדֵעַknowאֲנִיIאֲשֶׁרthis,-thatאַחֲרֵיafterצֵאתִיmy-departingיָבוֹאוּshall-enter-inבְתוֹכֲכֶםamong-you,זְאֵבִיםwolvesעַזִּיםgrievousאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָחוּסוּnot-sparingעַל־הָעֵדֶר׃the-flock.

    For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30. 30

    וְגַם־מִקִּרְבְּכֶםAlso-of-your-own-selvesיָקוּמוּshall-ariseאֲנָשִׁיםmen,דֹּבְרֵיspeakingתַהְפֻּכוֹתperverse-things,לְהַטּוֹתto-draw-awayאַחֲרֵיהֶםafter-themאֶת־הַתַּלְמִידִים׃disciples.

    Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

31. 31

    עַל־כֵּןThereforeשְׁקֹדוּwatch,וְזִכְרוּand-remember,כִּיthatשָׁלֹשׁby-the-space-of-threeשָׁנִיםyearsיוֹמָםnightוָלַיְלָהand-dayלֹאnotחָדַלְתִּיI-ceasedלְדַבֵּרto-warnעַל־לֵבupon-the-heart-ofכׇּל־אֶחָדevery-oneמִכֶּםof-youבְּדִמְעָה׃with-tears.

    Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

32. 32

    וְעַתָּהAnd-now,אַחַיbrethren,אֶעֱזָבְכֶםI-commend-youלֵאלֹהִיםto-God,וְלִדְבַרand-to-the-word-ofחַסְדּוֹhis-grace,אֲשֶׁר־לוֹwhich-hathהָעֹזthe-powerלִבְנוֹתto-build-upאֶתְכֶםyou,וְלָתֵתand-to-giveלָכֶםyouנָחֲלָהan-inheritanceבְּקֶרֶבamongכׇּל־הַמְקֻדָּשִׁים׃all-them-which-are-sanctified.

    And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

33. 33

    לֹאnoחָמַדְתִּיI-have-covetedכֶּסֶףsilver,אִישׁman’sאוֹorזְהָבוֹgold,אוֹorלְבוּשׁוֹ׃apparel.

    I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.

34. 34

    וְאַתֶּםYea,-youיְדַעְתֶּםyourselves-know,כִּי־יָדַיthat-handsאֵלֶּהtheseעָשׂוּhave-ministeredבְּעַדuntoצְרָכַיmy-necessities,וּבְעַדand-toצׇרְכֵיthe-necessities-ofהַהֹלְכִיםthem-that-wereאִתִּי׃with-me.

    Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35. 35

    וּבַכֹּלall-things,הֶרְאֵיתִיI-have-shewedאֶתְכֶםyouכִּיhow-thatכֵןsoעָלֵינוּwe-oughtלַעֲמֹלlaboringלִתְמֹךְto-supportבַּעֲמַלwith-the-labor-ofיָדֵינוּour-handsאֶת־הַחַלָּשִׁיםthe-weak,וְלִזְכֹּרand-to-rememberאֶת־דִּבְרֵיthe-words-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesus,כִּי־הוּאhow-heאָמַרsaid,טוֹבIt-is-more-blessedאֲשֶׁר־תִּתֵּןto-giveמִשֶּׁתִּקָּח׃than-to-receive.

    I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

36. 36

    וְאַחֲרֵיAnd-whenדַבְּרוֹhe-had-spokenאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםwordsהָאֵלֶּהthus,כָּרַעhe-kneeled-downעַל־בִּרְכָּיוupon-his-knees,וַיִּתְפַּלֵּלand-prayedעִם־כֻּלָּם׃with-them-all.

    And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

37. 37

    וַיִּבְכּוּAnd-they-weptכֻלָּםallבְּכִיwith-weepingגָדוֹלsore,וַיִּפְּלוּand-fellעַל־צַוְּארֵיon-the-neck-ofפוֹלוֹסPaul,וַיְנַשְּׁקוּand-kissedלוֹ׃him,

    And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,

38. 38

    וּבְיוֹתֵרmost-of-allהִתְעַצְּבוּSorrowingעַל־הַדָּבָרfor-the-wordsאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבֵּרhe-spake,כִּיthatלֹא־יוֹסִיפוּthey-should-noעוֹדmoreלִרְאוֹתseeפָּנָיוhis-face.וַיְלַוֻּהוּAnd-they-accompanied-himאֶל־הׇאֳנִיָּה׃unto-the-ship.

    Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
