   And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

   He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themעַל־מָהal-mainto whatאֵפוֹאe/FOthenנִטְבַּלְתֶּםnit/bal/TEMwere you baptizedוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidטְבִילַתte/vi/LATthe baptism ofיוֹחָנָן׃Yo/cha/NANJohn

   And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

   Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

   When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

   וַיִּסְמֹךְvay/yis/MOKHand laidפּוֹלוֹסPo/LOSPaulיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOand cameעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMon themרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritוַיְמַלֲלוּvay/ma/la/LUand they spokeבִלְשֹׁנוֹתvil/sho/NOTwith tonguesוַיִּתְנַבָּאוּ׃vay/yit/nab/ba/Uand prophesied

   And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

   וְכֻלָּםve/khul/LAMand all of them wereכִּשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרkish/NEM-a/SARabout twelveאִישׁ׃ishmen

   And all the men were about twelve.

8. 8

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he enteredאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the house ofהַכְּנֶסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyוַיִּקְרָא־שָׁםvay/yik/RA-shamand proclaimed thereבְּאֹמֶץbe/O/metsboldlyוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeעִמָּםim/MAMwith themכִּשְׁלֹשָׁהkish/lo/SHAabout threeחֳדָשִׁיםcho/da/SHIMmonthsוַיַּטvay/YATand turnedאֶת־לִבָּםet-lib/BAMtheir heartsאֶל־מַלְכוּתel-mal/KHUTto the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

   But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

    וְכֵןve/KHENand so it wasכִּשְׁנָתַיִםkish/na/TA/yimabout two yearsיָמִיםya/MIMof daysוַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיkol-yosh/VEall the inhabitants ofאַסְיָאAs/YAAsiaהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsוְהַיְּוָנִיםve/hay/Ye/va/NIMand the Greeksאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהָאָדוֹן׃ha/a/DONthe Lord

    And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

    וְהָאֱלֹהִיםve/ha/e/lo/HIMand Godעָשָׂהa/SAdidגְּבוּרוֹתge/vu/ROTmighty worksגְּדֹלוֹתge/do/LOTgreatעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEby the hands ofפוֹלוֹס׃Fo/LOSPaul

    And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

12. 12

    עַדaduntilלְהַנִּיחַle/han/NI/achthey would layסוּדָרִיםsu/da/RIMclothsוַחֲגֹרֹתva/cha/go/ROTand beltsמֵעַל־עוֹרme/AL-orfrom the skin ofבְּשָׂרוֹbe/sa/ROhis bodyעַל־הַחוֹלִיםal-ha/cho/LIMon the sickוַיָּסוּרוּvay/ya/SU/ruand departedמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themתַּחֲלֻאֵיהֶםta/cha/lu/e/HEMtheir diseasesוְגַם־הָרוּחוֹתve/GAM-ha/ru/CHOTand also the spiritsהָרָעוֹתha/ra/OTevilיָצָאוּ׃ya/TSA/uwent out

    So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

    וַאֲנָשִׁיםva/a/na/SHIMand menמִן־הַיְּהוּדִיםmin-Hay/ye/hu/DIMof the Jewsנְבוֹנֵיne/vo/NEskilled inלַחַשׁLA/chashcharmingוְסֹבֲבִיםve/so/va/VIMand going aroundבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landהוֹאִילוּho/I/luundertookלְהַזְכִּירle/haz/KIRto invokeאֶת־שֵׁםet-shemthe name ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordעַל־אֲחוּזֵיal-a/chu/ZEover those seized byהָרוּחוֹתha/ru/CHOTthe spiritsהָרָעוֹתha/ra/OTevilלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמַשְׁבִּיעִיםmash/bi/IMadjureאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּיֵשׁוּעַbe/Ye/SHU/aby Jesusאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomפּוֹלוֹסPo/LOSPaulמַגִּיד׃mag/GIDproclaims

    Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

14. 14

    וְהָעֹשִׂיםve/ha/o/SIMand those doingהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEsoשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATwere sevenבְּנֵיbe/NEsons ofסְקֵוָהSe/ke/VAone Scevaהַיְּהוּדִיhay/Ye/hu/DIa Jewמִגְּדוֹלֵיmig/ge/do/LEof the great ones ofהַכֹּהֲנִים׃hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priests

    And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15. 15

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe spiritוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusאֲנִיa/NIIמַכִּירmak/KIRrecognizeוְאֶת־פּוֹלוֹסve/ET-po/LOSand Paulאֲנִיa/NIIיֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMbut youמִיmiwhoאַתֶּם׃at/TEMare you

    And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

16. 16

    וַיִּתְנַפֵּלvay/yit/nap/PELand leapedעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMon themבַּעַלBA/althe possessor ofהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe spiritהָרָעָהha/ra/Aevilוַיִּגְבַּרvay/yig/BARand overpoweredעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themוַיִּכְבְּשֵׁםvay/yikh/be/SHEMand subdued themוַיָּנוּסוּvay/ya/NU/suand they fledמִן־הַבַּיִתmin-hab/BA/yitfrom the houseהַהוּאha/HUthatעֵירֻמִּיםe/rum/MIMnakedוּפְצוּעִים׃u/fe/tsu/IMand wounded

    And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

17. 17

    וַיִּוָּדַעvay/yiv/va/DAand became knownהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterלְכׇל־הַיְּהוּדִיםle/KHOL-hay/ye/hu/DIMto all the Jewsוְהַיְּוָנִיםve/hay/Ye/va/NIMand the Greeksיֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEwho dwell inאֶפֶסוֹסE/fe/SOSEphesusוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellפַּחַדPA/chadfearעַל־כֻּלָּםal-kul/LAMon all of themוַיִּגְדַּלvay/yig/DALand was magnifiedשֵׁםshemthe name ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

18. 18

    וְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמִן־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםmin-ham/ma/a/mi/NIMof those who believedבָּאוּBA/ucameוַיִּתְוַדּוּvay/yit/vad/DUand confessedוַיּוֹדִיעוּvay/yo/di/Uand made knownאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatעָשׂוּ׃a/SUthey did

    And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.

19. 19

    וְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoעָשׂוּa/SUwho practicedהַבְלֵיhav/LEthe vanities ofכְשָׁפִיםkhe/sha/FIMsorceriesהֵבִיאוּhe/VI/ubroughtאֶת־סִפְרֵיהֶםet-sif/re/HEMtheir booksוַיִּשְׂרְפוּםvay/yis/re/FUMand burned themבָּאֵשׁba/ESHin the fireלְעֵינֵיle/e/NEbefore the eyes ofכֹלkholallוַיְחַשְּׁבוּvay/chash/she/VUand they countedאֶת־מְחִירָםet-me/chi/RAMtheir priceוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuit wasחָמֵשׁcha/MESHfiveרִבּוֹrib/BOten thousandכָּסֶף׃KA/sefsilver

    Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

20. 20

    וּדְבַרu/de/VARand the word ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDגָּבַרga/VARprevailedמְאֹדme/ODmightilyוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentהָלֹךְha/LOKHgoingוְחָזֵק׃ve/cha/ZEKand growing strong

    So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּכְלוֹתkikh/LOTwhen were finishedהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּוָּעַץvay/yiv/va/ATSand resolvedפּוֹלוֹסPo/LOSPaulבְּרוּחוֹbe/ru/CHOin the spiritלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORto passבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHthroughמַקְדּוֹנְיָאMak/don/YAMacedoniaוַאֲכַיָּאva/A/khay/YAand Achaiaלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goיְרוּשָׁלָיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהֱיוֹתִיhe/yo/TII have beenשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereרָאֹהra/Oseeאֶרְאֶהer/EI must seeגַּםgamalsoאֶת־רוֹמִי׃et-Ro/MIRome

    After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

22. 22

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoמִן־הַמְּשָׁרְתִיםmin-ham/me/sha/re/TIMof those who servedאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֶל־מַקְדּוֹנְיָאel-Mak/don/YAinto Macedoniaאֶת־טִימוֹתִיּוֹסet-Ti/mo/tiy/YOSTimotheusוְאֶתve/ETandאֲרִסְטוֹסA/ris/TOSErastusוְהוּאve/HUand heעָשָׂהa/SAspentעוֹדodmoreיָמִיםya/MIMdaysבְּאַסְיָא׃be/As/YAin Asia

    So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.

23. 23

    וַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand there wasבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatמְהוּמָהme/hu/MAa commotionגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatעַל־אֹדוֹתal-o/DOTaboutהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhwayהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.

24. 24

    כִּי־צוֹרֵףki-tso/REFfor a refiner ofכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverאֶחָדe/CHADoneדְּמַטְרִיּוֹסDe/mat/riy/YOSDemetriusשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameעֹשֵׂהo/SEa maker ofהֵיכְלֵיHE/khe/letemples ofכֶסֶףKHE/sefsilverלְאַרְטְמִיסle/Ar/te/MISfor Dianaהִמְצִיאhim/TSIprovidedלֶחָרָשִׁיםle/cha/ra/SHIMfor the craftsmenשָׂכָרsa/KHARwagesהַרְבֵּה׃har/BEmuch

    For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;

25. 25

    וַיַּקְהֵלvay/yak/HELand he gatheredאֹתָםo/TAMthemוְאֶת־יֶתֶרve/ET-YE/terand the rest ofהָעֹסְקִיםha/os/KIMthose engagedבַּמְּלָאכָהbam/me/la/KHAin the workהַהִיאha/HIthatוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאַתֶּםat/TEMyouיֹדְעִיםyod/IMknowכִּיkithatמִן־הַמְּלָאכָהmin-ham/me/la/KHAfrom the workהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisעָשִׂינוּa/SI/nuwe have madeחָיִל׃CHA/yilwealth

    Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.

26. 26

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youרֹאִיםro/IMseeוְשֹׁמְעִיםve/shom/IMand hearאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotבְאֶפֶסוֹסve/E/fe/SOSat Ephesusלְבַדָּהּle/vad/DAaloneכִּי־גַםki-gambut alsoכִּמְעַטkim/ATalmostבְּאַסְיָאbe/As/YAthroughout Asiaכֻלָּהּkhul/LAall of itזֶהzethisפוֹלוֹסFo/LOSPaulפִּתָּהpit/TAhas enticedוְהִדִּיחַve/hid/DI/achand led astrayהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעַם־רָבam-ravmany peopleלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹא־אֱלֹהִיםlo-e/lo/HIMnot godsאֵלֶּהEL/leare theseהַנַּעֲשִׂיםhan/na/a/SIMthat are madeבְּיָדָיִם׃be/ya/DA/yimwith hands

    Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowעוֹדodyetמְעַטme/ATa littleוְחֶלְקֵנוּve/chel/ke/NUand our portionזֶהzethisיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beלְבוּזle/VUZfor contemptוְגַם־הֵיכַלve/GAM-he/KHALand also the temple ofאַרְטְמִיסAr/te/MISDianaהַמְּלֶכֶתham/me/LE/khetthe queenהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatיֵחָשֵׁבye/cha/SHEVwill be countedלְאַיִןle/A/yinto nothingוְתִכְלֶהve/tikh/LEand will come to an endתִפְאַרְתָּהּtif/ar/TAher splendorאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomכׇּל־אַסְיָאkol-As/YAall Asiaוְכׇל־יֹשְׁבֵיve/KHOL-yosh/VEand all the inhabitants ofתֵבֵלte/VELthe worldמְכַבְּדִיםme/khab/be/DIMhonorאוֹתָהּ׃o/TAher

    So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּשָׁמְעָםke/sha/me/AMwhen they heardאֶת־דְּבָרָיוet-de/va/RAYVhis wordsוַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uand they were filled withחֵמָהche/MArageוַיִּצְעֲקוּvay/yits/a/KUand cried outוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreat isאַרְטְמִיסAr/te/MISDianaאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָאֶפֶסִים׃la/E/fe/SIMto the Ephesians

    And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

    וַתִּמָּלֵאvat/tim/ma/LEand was filledכׇל־הָעִירkhol-ha/IRthe whole cityמְבוּכָהme/vu/KHAwith confusionוַיִּסְעֲרוּvay/yis/a/RUand they stormedכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherאֶל־הַתֵּאַטְרוֹןel-hat/te/at/RONinto the theaterוַיַּחְטְפוּvay/yach/te/FUand seizedאִתָּםit/TAMwith themאֶת־גָּיוֹסet-Ga/YOSGaiusוְאֶת־אֲרִסְטַרְכוֹסve/ET-a/ris/tar/KHOSand Aristarchusוְהֵםve/HEMand they wereמַקְדּוֹנִיםMak/do/NIMof Macedoniaוַחֲבֵרִיםva/cha/ve/RIMand companionsלְפוֹלוֹסle/Fo/LOSof Paulבְּמַסָּעָיו׃be/mas/sa/AYVin his journeys

    And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.

    וַיּוֹאֶלvay/YO/eland wantedפּוֹלוֹסPo/LOSPaulלָבוֹאla/VOto enterאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhinto the midst ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְלֹא־הִנִּיחוּve/LO-hin/NI/chuand did not allowלוֹlohimהַתַּלְמִידִים׃hat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciples

    And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.

    וְגַם־מִקְצָתve/GAM-mik/TSATand also some ofרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofאַסְיָאAs/YAAsiaאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיוּha/YUwereאֹהֲבָיוo/ha/VAYVhis friendsשָׁלְחוּsha/le/CHUsentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיַּזְהִירוּvay/yaz/hi/RUand warnedאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־יִמְלָאֵהוּlo-yim/la/e/HUwould not fill himלִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֶל־הַתֵּאַטְרוֹן׃el-hat/te/at/RONinto the theater

    And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

32. 32

    וַיִּצְעֲקוּ־שָׁםvay/yits/a/KU-shamand they cried out thereאֵלֶּהEL/letheseבְּכֹהbe/KHOone thingוְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseבְּכֹהbe/KHOanotherכִּיkiforמְבוּכָהme/vu/KHAconfusionגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatהָיְתָהha/ye/TAthere wasבַקָּהָלvak/ka/HALin the assemblyוְרֻבָּםve/rub/BAMand most of themלֹאlonotיָדְעוּya/de/Udid knowעַל־מַה־זֶּהal-ma-zefor whatנֶאֱסָפוּ׃ne/e/SA/futhey had gathered

    Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.

33. 33

    וַיִּמְשְׁכוּvay/yim/she/KHUand they drewמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofהֶהָמוֹןhe/ha/MONthe crowdאֶת־אֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרוֹסet-A/lekh/san/de/ROSAlexanderוְהַיְּהוּדִיםve/hay/Ye/hu/DIMand the Jewsדָּחוּda/CHUpushedאֹתוֹo/TOhimעַד־צֵאתוֹad-tse/TOuntil he went outוַיָּנֶףvay/YA/nefand wavedאֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרוֹסA/lekh/san/de/ROSAlexanderאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand soughtלְהִצְטַדֵּקle/hits/tad/DEKto defend himselfלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.

34. 34

    וְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand theyכְּהַכִּירָםke/hak/ki/RAMwhen they recognizedכִּי־הוּאki-huthat he wasיְהוּדִיYe/hu/DIa Jewנָשְׂאוּna/se/Uliftedכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themקוֹלָםko/LAMtheir voiceוַיִּצְעֲקוּvay/yits/a/KUand they cried outכִּשְׁתֵּיkish/TEabout twoשָׁעוֹתsha/OThoursלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreat isאַרְטְמִיסAr/te/MISDianaאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָאֶפֶסִים׃la/E/fe/SIMto the Ephesians

    But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

35. 35

    וַיַּהַסvay/YA/hasand quietedסוֹפֵרso/FERthe scribe ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofאֶפֶסוֹסE/fe/SOSEphesusמִיmiwhoהָאִישׁha/ISHis the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlodoes notיֵדַעye/DAknowכִּיkithatהָעִירha/IRthe city ofאֶפֶסוֹסE/fe/SOSEphesusסֹכֶנֶתso/KHE/netis wardenלְהֵיכַלle/he/KHALof the temple ofאַרְטְמִיסAr/te/MISDianaהַמְּלֶכֶתham/me/LE/khetthe queenהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatוּלְצַלְמָהּu/le/tsal/MAand of her imageהַיּוֹרֵדhay/yo/REDthat fellמִן־יֻפִּיטֶר׃min-Yup/pi/TERfrom Jupiter

    And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

36. 36

    וְיַעַןve/YA/anand sinceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֵיןenthere is noלְכַחֵשׁle/kha/CHESHdenyingבַּדְּבָרִיםbad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseנָאֶהna/Eit is fittingלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beשֹׁקְטִיםshok/TIMquietוְלֹאve/LOand notעֹשִׂיםo/SIMdoingדָבָרda/VARa thingנִמְהָר׃nim/HARrash

    Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

37. 37

    כִּיkiforהֲבֵאתֶםha/ve/TEMyou have broughtאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁיםet-ha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotגֹּזְלֵי־קֳדָשִׁיםgoz/LE-ko/da/SHIMrobbers of holy thingsהֵםhemare theyאַף־לֹאaf-loand notמְגַדְּפֵיme/gad/de/FErevilers ofמַלְכַּתְכֶם׃mal/kat/KHEMyour queen

    For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

38. 38

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־לִדְמַטְרִיוֹסim-Lid/mat/ri/VOSif Demetriusוְלֶחָרָשִׁיםve/le/cha/ra/SHIMand the craftsmenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areאִתּוֹit/TOwith himדְּבַר־רִיבde/VAR-rivhave a matter of disputeעִם־אִישׁim-ishwith a manהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofבֵית־דִּיןvet-dinthe courtלָנוּLA/nuwe haveוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand rulers ofמְדִינָהme/di/NAprovinceוְיָבִיאוּve/ya/VI/uand let them bringאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֶת־רִיבָם׃et-ri/VAMtheir dispute

    Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.

39. 39

    וְאִם־תְּבַקְשׁוּve/IM-te/vak/SHUand if you seekדָּבָרda/VARa thingאַחֵרa/CHERotherשָׁפוֹטsha/FOTjudgeיִשָּׁפֵטyish/sha/FETit will be judgedבָּעֵדָהba/e/DAin the congregationהַנִּקְהָלָהhan/nik/ha/LAgatheredכַּדָּת׃kad/DATaccording to law

    But if ye inquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

40. 40

    וְעוֹדve/ODand alsoכִּיkiforנִסְכָּנִיםnis/ka/NIMare in dangerאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTof beingנִדֹּנִיםnid/do/NIMjudgedעַל־הַמֶּרֶדal-ham/ME/redfor the rebellionבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofמַעֲשֵׂהma/a/SEthe deed ofהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְדָבָרve/da/VARand a thingאֵיןenthere is notלָנוּLA/nufor usלָתֵתla/TETto giveדִּיןdina judgmentוְחֶשְׁבּוֹןve/chesh/BONand an accountעַל־הַמְּהוּמָהal-ham/me/hu/MAfor the commotionהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.

41. 41

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenכִּלָּהkil/LAhe finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMlike the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand he dismissedאֶת־הַקָּהָל׃et-hak/ka/HALthe assembly

    And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
