    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passאַחַרAfterהַדְּבָרִיםthingsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוַיֵּצֵאdepartedפוֹלוֹסPaulמֵאַתִּינַסfrom-Athens,וַיָּבֹאand-cameאֶל־קוֹרִנְתּוֹס׃to-Corinth;

    After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

    וַיִּמְצָאAnd-foundיְהוּדִיa-Jewאֶחָדcertainמוֹלַדְתּוֹborn-inפוֹנְטוֹסPontus,וּשְׁמוֹnamedעֲקִילַסAquila,אֲשֶׁרwhichבָּאcomeמִקָּרוֹבlatelyמִן־אִיטַלְיָאfrom-Italy,הוּאheוּפְרִיסְקְלָהwith-Priscillaאִשְׁתּוֹhis-wife;מִפְּנֵי(becauseאֲשֶׁרthatצִוָּהhad-commandedקְלוֹדְיוֹסClaudiusאֶת־כׇּל־הַיְּהוּדִיםall-Jewsלָסוּרto-departמֵעִירfrom-the-city-ofרוֹמִי׃Rome:)

    And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

    וַיִּגַּשׁAnd-he-cameאֲלֵיהֶםunto-them,כִּיbecauseבְּנֵיof-sons-ofאֻמָּנוּתcraftאַחַתthe-sameהֵםthey-were,וַיֵּשֶׁבhe-abodeאִתָּםwith-them,וַיַּעַשׂand-wroughtבִּמְלָאכָהat-the-work:וְאֻמָּנוּתָםfor-by-their-occupationעֹשִׂיםthey-were-makers-ofיְרִיעוֹתthe-cloths-ofאֹהָלִים׃tents.

    And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

    וַיְדַבֵּרAnd-he-reasonedבְּבֵיתin-the-house-ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe-synagogueבְּכׇל־שַׁבָּתevery-sabbathוְשַׁבָּתand-sabbath,וַיּוֹכַחand-persuadedאֶל־הַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jewsוְאֶל־הַיְּוָנִים׃and-the-Greeks.

    And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

    וּכְבוֹאAnd-when-were-comeסִילָאSilasוְטִימוֹתִיּוֹסand-Timotheusמִמַּקְדּוֹנְיָאfrom-Macedonia,פּוֹלוֹסPaulמִתְאַמֵּץwas-pressedבַּדָּבָרin-the-spirit,לְהָעִידand-testifiedאֶל־הַיְּהוּדִיםto-the-JewsכִּיthatיֵשׁוּעַJesusהוּאwasהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃Christ.

    And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passכִּיwhenהִמְרוּthey-opposed-themselves,וְגִדְּפוּand-blasphemed,וַיְנַעֵרhe-shookאֶת־בְּגָדָיוhis-raiment,וַיֹּאמֶרand-saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto-them,דִּמְכֶםYour-blood-beבְּרָאשֵׁיכֶםupon-your-own-heads;וְאָנֹכִיand-I-amנָקִיclean:מֵעַתָּהfrom-henceforthאֵלְכָה־לִּיI-will-goאֶל־הַגּוֹיִם׃unto-the-Gentiles.

    And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

    וַיֵּלֵךְAnd-he-departedמִשָּׁםthence,וַיָּבֹאand-enteredאֶל־בֵּיתinto-the-house-ofאִישׁa-man,וּשְׁמוֹnamedיוּסְטוֹסJustus,וְהָאִישׁand-the-manיְרֵאone-that-worshipedאֱלֹהִיםGod,וּבֵיתוֹwhose-houseסָמוּךְjoined-hardלְבֵיתto-the-house-ofהַכְּנֵסֶת׃the-synagogue.

    And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

    וּקְרִיסְפּוֹסAnd-Crispus,רֹאשׁthe-chief-ruler-ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe-synagogue,הֶאֱמִיןbelievedבָּאָדוֹןon-the-Lordהוּאheוְכׇל־בֵּיתוֹwith-all-his-house;וְגַםandקוֹרִנְתִּיםof-the-Corinthiansרַבִּיםmanyשָׁמְעוּhearingוַיַּאֲמִינוּbelieved,וַיִּטָּבֵלוּ׃and-were-baptized.

    And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

    וּדְבַרThen-spakeהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordהָיָהwasאֶל־פּוֹלוֹסto-Paulבַּמַּחֲזֶהby-a-visionבַלַּיְלָהin-the-night,לֵאמֹרsaying,אַל־תִּירָאBe-not-afraid,כִּיbutאִםratherדַּבֵּרspeak,וְאַל־תֶּחֱשֶׁה׃and-hold-not-your-peace:

    Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

    כִּי־עִמְּךָFor-with-youאָנֹכִיI-am,וְאִישׁand-manאַל־יִגַּעno-shall-set-onבְּךָyouלְהָרַעto-hurtלָךְyou:כִּי־עַםfor-peopleרַבmuchלִיI-haveבָּעִירin-cityהַזֹּאת׃this.

    For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

  11. 11

    וַיֵּשֶׁבAnd-he-continuedשָׁםthereשָׁנָהa-yearוְשִׁשָּׁהand-sixחֳדָשִׁיםmonths,וַיְלַמֵּדteachingבְּקִרְבָּםamong-themאֶת־דְּבַרthe-word-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passבִּהְיוֹתwhen-wasגַּלִּיּוֹןGallioשַׂרthe-deputy-ofמְדִינַתthe-country-ofאֲכַיָּאAchaia,וַיָּקוּמוּmade-insurrectionהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jewsכֻּלָּםallיַחְדָּוwith-one-accordעַל־פּוֹלוֹסagainst-Paul,וַיְבִיאֻהוּand-brought-himלִפְנֵי־כִסֵּאto-the-seat-ofהַמִּשְׁפָּט׃judgment,

    And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

    וַיֹּאמְרוּSaying,הָאִישׁfellowהַזֶּהThisמֵסִיתpersuadethאֶת־בְּנֵיthe-sons-ofהָאָדָםmenלַעֲבֹדto-worshipאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםGodשֶׁלּאcontraryכַתּוֹרָה׃to-the-law.

    Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

  14. 14

    וַיְהִיAnd-it-came-to-passאַךְ־בִּקֵּשׁwhen-was-now-aboutפּוֹלוֹסPaulלִפְתֹּחַto-openאֶת־פִּיוhis-mouth,וְגַלִּיּוֹןGallioהִקְדִּימוֹprevented-him,וַיֹּאמֶרand-saidאֶל־הַיְּהוּדִיםunto-the-Jews,לוּ־הָיָהIf-it-wereדְבַר־פֶּשַׁעa-matter-of-wrongאוֹ־נְבָלָהor-wicked-lewdness,יְהוּדִיםO-you-Jews,כִּי־עַתָּהreason-would-thatנָשָׂאתִיI-should-bear-withפְנֵיכֶםyouכַּמִּשְׁפָּט׃according-to-reason:

    And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

    אֲבָלButאִם־הִיאif-it-beשְׁאֵלָהa-questionעַל־מִלִּיןof-wordsוְשֵׁמוֹתand-names,וְהַדָּתand-of-the-lawשֶׁלָּכֶםof-yours,רְאוּlook-youאַתֶּםto-it;וַאֲנִיfor-Iלֹאnoאֶהְיֶהwill-beשֹׁפֵטjudgeבֵּין־דְּבָרִיםof-mattersכָּאֵלֶּה׃such.

    But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

  16. 16

    וַיְגָרֶשׁAnd-he-draveאֹתָםthemמִלִּפְנֵיfromכִּסֵּאthe-seat-ofהַמִּשְׁפָּט׃judgment.

    And he drave them from the judgment seat.

  17. 17

    וַיֹּאחֲזוּThen-tookכׇל־הַיְּוָנִיםall-the-Greeksאֶת־סוֹסְתְּנִיסSosthenes,רֹאשׁthe-chief-ruler-ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe-synagogue,וַיַּכּוּהוּand-beat-himלִפְנֵי־כִסֵּאbefore-the-seat-ofהַמִּשְׁפָּטjudgment.וְגַלִּיּוֹןAnd-Gallioלֹא־שָּׁתset-notלִבּוֹhis-heartגַּם־לָזֹאת׃for-none-of-those-things.

    Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

    וּפוֹלוֹסAnd-Paulיָשַׁבtarriedשָׁםthereעוֹדyetיָמִיםa-whileרַבִּיםgood,וַיִּפָּטֵרand-then-took-his-leaveמִן־הָאַחִיםof-the-brethren,וַיֵּרֶדand-went-downבׇּאֳנִיָּהin-a-shipלָלֶכֶתand-sailed-thenceאֶל־סוּרְיָאinto-Syria,וְאִתּוֹand-with-himפְּרִיסְקְלָהPriscillaוַעֲקִילַסand-Aquila;וַיְגַלַּחhaving-shornאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹhis-headבְּקַנְכְּרַיin-Cenchrea:כִּיforנֶדֶרa-vowעָלָיו׃he-had.

    And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

  19. 19

    וַיָּבֹאוּAnd-he-cameאֶל־אֶפֶסוֹסto-Ephesus,וַיַּנִּיחֵםand-left-themשָׁםthere:וְהוּאbut-he-himselfהָלַךְenteredלְבֵיתinto-the-house-ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe-synagogue,וַיְדַבֵּרand-reasonedעִם־הַיְּהוּדִים׃with-the-Jews.

    And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

  20. 20

    וַיְבַקְשׁוּWhen-they-desiredמִמֶּנּוּhimלְהַאֲרִיךְto-tarry-longerיְמֵיthe-time-ofשִׁבְתּוֹhis-abidingאִתָּםwith-them,וְלֹאnotאָבָה׃he-consented;

    When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

  21. 21

    כִּיButנִפְטַרbade-farewellמֵהֶםthem,וַיֹּאמֶרsaying,חַיָּבmust-by-all-meansאֲנִיIלָחֹגkeepאֶת־הֶחָגfeastהַבָּאthis-that-comethבִּירוּשָׁלַיִםin-Jerusalem:וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןbutאָשׁוּבָהI-will-return-againאֲלֵיכֶםunto-you,אִם־יִרְצֶהif-willאֱלֹהִיםGod.וַיֵּלֶךְAnd-he-sailedבׇּאֳנִיָּהin-a-shipמִן־אֶפֶסוֹס׃from-Ephesus.

    But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

  22. 22

    וַיָּבֹאAnd-when-he-had-landedאֶל־קֵיסַרְיָהat-Caesarea,וַיַּעַלand-gone-up,וַיִּשְׁאַלand-salutedלִשְׁלוֹםthe-peace-ofהַקְּהִלָּהthe-church,וַיֵּרֶדhe-went-downאֶל־אַנְטְיוֹכְיָא׃to-Antioch.

    And when he had landed at Cæsarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.

  23. 23

    וַיֵּשֶׁבAnd-after-he-had-spentשָׁםthereיָמִיםtimeאֲחָדִיםsome,וַיֵּלֶךְhe-departedלְמַסָּעָיוon-his-journeys,וַיַּעֲבֹרand-went-overבְּאֶרֶץin-all-the-country-ofגָּלַטְיָאGalatiaוּפְרוּגְיָאand-Phrygiaוַיְחַזֵּקin-order,-strengtheningאֶת־כׇּל־הַתַּלְמִידִים׃all-the-disciples.

    And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

  24. 24

    וִיהוּדִיAnd-a-Jewאֶחָדcertainמוֹלַדְתּוֹborn-atאֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרִיָּאAlexandria,וּשְׁמוֹnamedאַפּוֹלוֹסApollos,בָּאcameאֶל־אֶפֶסוֹסto-Ephesus.וְהָאִישׁand-the-manאִישׁa-manדְּבָרִיםeloquent,וְגָדוֹלand-mightyבַּמִּקְרָא׃in-the-scriptures,

    And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

  25. 25

    הוּאThis-manהָיָהwasמְלֻמָּדinstructed-inדֶּרֶךְthe-way-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lord;וְהוּאand-heמְדַבֵּרspakeכְּחֹםbeing-fervent-inרוּחוֹthe-spirit,וּמְלַמֵּדand-taughtהֵיטֵבdiligentlyאֶת־דִּבְרֵיthe-things-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lord,וְלֹאand-notיָדַעknowingכִּיbutאִם־טְבִילַתonly-the-baptism-ofיוֹחָנָןJohnלְבַדָּהּ׃alone.

    This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

  26. 26

    וְהוּאAnd-heהֵחֵלbeganלִקְרֹאto-speakבְּבֵיתin-the-house-ofהַכְּנֵסֶתthe-synagogueבְּאֹמֶץboldlyלִבּוֹof-heart:וַיִּשְׁמְעוּwhom-when-had-heard,אֹתוֹhimעֲקִילַסAquilaוּפְרִיסְקְלָהand-Priscillaוַיִּקָּחֻהוּthey-took-himאֲלֵיהֶםunto-them,וַיּוֹסִיפוּand-moreלְהוֹרוֹתוֹexpounded-unto-himאֶת־דֶּרֶךְthe-way-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבַּאֵרclearlyהֵיטֵב׃perfectly.

    And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

    וַיַּחְפֹּץAnd-when-he-was-disposedלָלֶכֶתto-passלַאֲכַיָּאinto-Achaia,וַיִּכְתְּבוּwrote,הָאַחִיםthe-brethrenאֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִיםto-the-disciplesוַיְעֹרֲרוּexhortingאֹתָםthemלְקַבְּלוֹto-receive-him:וַיָּבֹאwho,-when-he-was-comeשָׁמָּהthither,וַיַּעֲזֹרhelpedהַרְבֵּהmuchלַמַּאֲמִינִיםthem-which-had-believedעַל־יְדֵיthroughהֶחָסֶד׃grace:

    And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

  28. 28

    כִּי־בְכׇל־כֹּחוֹFor-mightilyהִתְוַכַּחhe-convincedעִם־הַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jews,לִפְנֵיbeforeכׇּל־הָעָםall-the-people,וַיַּרְאֵםshewing-themמִן־הַמִּקְרָאוֹתby-the-scripturesכִּיthatיֵשׁוּעַJesusהוּאwasהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃Christ.

    For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
