   The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.

   יְדִידִיye/di/DImy belovedעַל־כֹּלal-kolabove all thingsאֶחְפֹּץech/POTSI wantכִּיkithatתַצְלִיחַtats/LI/achyou prosperוְשָׁלוֹםve/sha/LOMand peaceלְךָle/KHAto youכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asתַּצְלִיחַtats/LI/achprospersנַפְשֶׁךָ׃naf/SHE/khayour soul

   Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

   For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

   אֵיןenthere is noלִיlito meשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreaterמִלִּשְׁמֹעַmil/lish/MO/athan to hearאֶת־בָּנַיet-ba/NAYmy childrenמִתְהַלְּכִיםmit/hal/le/KHIMwalkingבָּאֱמֶת׃ba/e/METin truth

   I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

   יְדִידִיye/di/DImy belovedבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAfaithfullyתַעֲשֶׂהta/a/SEyou doכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhateverתַּעֲשֶׂהta/a/SEyou doלָאַחִיםla/a/CHIMto the brothersוְלַגֵּרִים׃ve/lag/ge/RIMand to strangers

   Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;

   אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֵעִידוּhe/I/dutestifiedעַל־חַסְדְּךָal-chas/de/KHAabout your charityלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַקְּהִלָּהhak/ke/hil/LAthe churchאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאִם־תְּשַׁלְּחֵםim-te/shal/le/CHEMif you send themלְדַרְכָּםle/dar/KAMon their wayכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנָאוֶהna/VEis fittingלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godתֵּיטִיבte/TIVyou will do wellלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto do

   Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

   כִּיkibecauseלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameיָצָאוּya/TSA/uthey went outוְלֹאve/LOand notלָקְחוּla/ke/CHUdid they takeדָבָרda/VARanythingמִן־הַגּוֹיִם׃min-Hag/go/YIMfrom the Gentiles

   Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuit is on usלְקַבֵּלle/kab/BELto receiveאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/letheseלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatנִהְיֶהnih/YEwe may beעֹזְרִיםoz/RIMhelpersלָאֱמֶת׃la/e/METto the truth

   We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

   כָּתַבְתִּיka/TAV/tiI wroteאֶל־הַקְּהִלָּהel-hak/ke/hil/LAto the churchאֲבָלa/VALbutדִּיּוֹטְרִיפַסDiy/yot/ri/FASDiotrephesהָאֹהֵבha/o/HEVthe one who lovesלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstבָּהֶםba/HEMamong themאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nudoes notמְקַבֵּלme/kab/BELreceiveאֹתָנוּ׃o/TA/nuus

   I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאִם־אָבוֹאim-a/VOif I comeאַזְכִּירaz/KIRI will rememberאֶת־מַעֲשָׂיוet-ma/a/SAYVhis deedsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהוּאhuheעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoesמְבַטֵּאme/vat/TEbabblingעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuagainst usבִּדְבָרִיםbid/va/RIMwith wordsרָעִיםra/IMevilוְלֹאve/LOand notדַּי־לוֹday-loenough for himבָזֶהva/ZEwith thisגַּםgamalsoהוּאhuheלֹאlonotיְקַבֵּלye/kab/BELdoes he receiveאֶת־הָאַחִיםet-ha/a/CHIMthe brothersוְכֹלֵאve/kho/LEand forbidsאֶת־הַחֲפֵצִיםet-ha/cha/fe/TSIMthose who wantוּמְגָרְשָׁםu/me/ga/re/SHAMand casts them outמִן־הַקְּהִלָּה׃min-hak/ke/hil/LAfrom the church

    Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

    Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

    Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

    I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:

    אֲבָלa/VALbutאֲקַוֶּהa/kav/VEI hopeלִרְאוֹתְךָlir/ot/KHAto see youבִּמְהֵרָהbim/he/RAshortlyוּפָנִיםu/fa/NIMand faceאֶל־פָּנִיםel-pa/NIMto faceנְדַבֵּרne/dab/BERwe will speakשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceלְךָle/KHAto youהָרֵעִיםha/re/IMthe friendsשֹׁאֲלִיםsho/a/LIMaskלִשְׁלוֹמְךָlish/lom/KHAafter your peaceשְׁאַלshe/ALaskלִשְׁלוֹםlish/LOMafter the peace ofהָרֵעִיםha/re/IMthe friendsאִישׁisheachבִּשְׁמוֹ׃bish/MOby his name

    But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
