   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youבְּנִיbe/NImy sonהִתְחַזֵּקhit/chaz/ZEKbe strongבַּחֶסֶדba/CHE/sedin the graceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin the Messiahיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

   Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2. 2

   וְאֶת־אֲשֶׁרve/ET-a/SHERand whatשָׁמַעְתָּsha/MA/tayou have heardמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meבִּפְנֵיbif/NEbeforeעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyתַּפְקִידֶנּוּtaf/ki/den/NUentrust itבִּידֵיbi/DEinto the hands ofאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenנֶאֱמָנִיםne/e/ma/NIMfaithfulאֲשֶׁר־הֵםa/SHER-hemwho areכְּשֵׁרִיםke/she/RIMfitלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachגַּםgamalsoאֶת־הָאֲחֵרִים׃et-ha/a/che/RIMothers

   And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youסְבֹלse/VOLbearרָעוֹתra/OThardshipsכְּאִישׁke/ISHas a man ofצָבָאtsa/VAthe armyטוֹבtovgoodלְיֵשׁוּעַle/Ye/SHU/aof Jesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

   Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4. 4

   אֵיןennoאִישׁisha manיֹצֵאyo/TSEgoing outבַצָּבָאvats/tsa/VAin the armyנִלְכָּדnil/KADis entangledבְּעִנְיְנֵיbe/in/ye/NEin matters ofהַחַיִּיםha/chay/YIMlifeהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/lethisלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִמְצָאyim/TSAhe may pleaseחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofהַבֹּחֵרhab/bo/CHERwho choseבּוֹbohimלְאִישׁle/ISHas a man ofצָבָא׃tsa/VAthe army

   No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

   וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאִם־יֵאָבֵקim-ye/a/VEKif he competesאִישׁisha manלֹאlonotיְעַטְּרוּהוּye/at/te/ru/HUis he crownedאִם־לֹאim-lounlessיֵאָבֵקye/a/VEKhe wrestlesכַּמִּשְׁפָּט׃kam/mish/PATaccording to the rule

   And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6. 6

   הָאִכָּרha/ik/KARthe farmerהֶעָמֵלhe/a/MELwho laborsרִאשׁוֹנָהri/sho/NAfirstיֹאכַלyo/KHALeatsמִן־הַפְּרִי׃min-hap/pe/RIof the fruit

   The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

   הִתְבּוֹנֵןhit/bo/NENconsiderבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERwhatאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayוְהָאָדוֹןve/ha/a/DONand the Lordיִתֶּן־לְּךָyit/TEN-le/KHAgive youבִּינָהbi/NAunderstandingבַּכֹּל׃bak/KOLin all things

   Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

8. 8

   זְכֹרze/KHORrememberכִּיkithatיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/rafrom the seed ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidנֵעוֹרne/ORwas raisedמִן־הַמֵּתִיםmin-ham/me/TIMfrom the deadכִּבְשׂוֹרָתִי׃kiv/so/ra/TIaccording to my gospel

   Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

9. 9

   אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּעֲבוּרָהּba/a/vu/RAfor its sakeאֲנִיa/NIIסֹבֵלso/VELbearרָעָהra/Aevilכִּמְרֵעַkim/RE/aas an evildoerעַד־מוֹסֵרוֹתad-mo/se/ROTto bondsאֲבָלa/VALbutדְּבַרde/VARthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuis notאָסוּר׃a/SURbound

   Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

10. 10

    וְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenand thereforeאֶסְבֹּלes/BOLI bearאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLall thingsלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofהַבְּחִירִיםhab/be/chi/RIMthe chosenלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיַשִּׂיגוּyas/SI/guthey may obtainגַם־הֵמָּהgam-HEM/mathey alsoאֶת־הַיְשׁוּעָהet-hay/shu/Asalvationאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin the MessiahיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusעִם־כְּבוֹדim-ke/VODwith the glory ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeternal

    Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11. 11

    נֶאֱמָןne/e/MANfaithfulהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARis the wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkithatאִם־מַתְנוּim-MAT/nuif we diedאִתּוֹit/TOwith himגַּם־אִתּוֹgam-it/TOwith him alsoנִחְיֶה׃nich/YEwe shall live

    It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

12. 12

    אִם־נִסְבֹּלim-nis/BOLif we sufferגַּם־נִמְלֹךְgam-nim/LOKHwe will also reignאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוְאִם־נְכַחֶשׁ־בּוֹve/IM-ne/kha/CHESH-boand if we deny himגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoיְכַחֶשׁ־בָּנוּ׃ye/KHA/chesh-BA/nuwill deny us

    If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

13. 13

    אִם־לֹאim-loif notנַאֲמִיןna/a/MINwe believeהוּאhuheעֹמֵדo/MEDabidesנֶאֱמָןne/e/MANfaithfulלֹאlonotיוּכַלyu/KHALcan heלְכַחֵשׁle/kha/CHESHdenyבְּנַפְשׁוֹ׃be/naf/SHOhimself

    If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

14. 14

    אֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/lethese thingsהַזְכֵּרhaz/KERremindוְהָעֵדve/ha/EDand testifyבָּהֶםba/HEMthemלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיָרִיבוּya/ri/VUthey contendעַל־מִלִּיםal-mil/LIMabout wordsלְלֹאle/LOfor noהוֹעִילho/ILprofitכִּיkibutאִם־לְעַוֵּתim-le/av/VETrather to the ruin ofאֶת־הַשֹּׁמְעִים׃et-hash/shom/IMthose who hear

    Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

15. 15

    שְׁקֹדshe/KODbe diligentלְהַרְאוֹתle/har/OTto showאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָet-naf/she/KHAyourselfרָצוּיra/TSUYapprovedלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godפֹּעֵלpo/ELa workerאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יֵבוֹשׁlo-ye/VOSHwill not be ashamedמְחַלֵּקme/chal/LEKdividingבִּנְכֹחָהbin/kho/CHArightlyאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofהָאֱמֶת׃ha/e/METtruth

    Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16. 16

    אֲבָלa/VALbutסוּרsurturn awayמִדִּבְרֵיmid/div/REfrom words ofחֹלcholprofaneוָהֶבֶלva/HE/veland emptyכִּיkiforיוֹסִיפוּyo/SI/futhey will continueהַרְבּוֹתhar/BOTto increaseרֶשַׁע׃RE/shawickedness

    But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17. 17

    וּדְבָרָםu/de/va/RAMand their wordיֹאכַלyo/KHALwill eatכְּרָקָבke/ra/KAVlike rotוּמֵהֶםu/me/HEMand of themהוּמְנִיּוֹסHum/niy/YOSHymenaeusוּפִילִיטוֹס׃u/Fi/li/TOSand Philetus

    And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus;

18. 18

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoתָּעוּta/Ustrayedמִן־הָאֱמֶתmin-ha/e/METfrom the truthבְּאׇמְרָםbe/om/RAMsayingכִּיkithatכְבָרkhe/VARalreadyעָבְרָהa/ve/RAhas passedהַתְּחִיָּהhat/te/chiy/YAthe resurrectionוַיַּהַפְכוּvay/ya/haf/KHUand they overturnאֱמוּנַתe/mu/NATthe faith ofאֲנָשִׁים׃a/na/SHIMmen

    Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19. 19

    אַךְakhbutיְסוֹדye/SODthe foundation ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעֹמֵדo/MEDstandsנֶאֱמָןne/e/MANfaithfulוְלוֹve/LOand to itהַחוֹתָםha/cho/TAMthe sealהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisיֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthose whoלוֹloare Hisוְכׇל־הַמַּזְכִּירve/KHOL-ham/maz/KIRand everyone who namesאֶת־שֵׁםet-shemthe name ofהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahיָסוּרya/SURlet him turnמֵעָוֶל׃me/A/velfrom wrong

    Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20. 20

    וּבְבַיִתu/ve/VA/yitand in a houseגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatאֵיןenthere are notכְּלֵיke/LEvessels ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldוָכֶסֶףva/KHE/sefand silverלְבַדle/VADonlyכִּיkibutאִם־גַּםim-gamrather alsoכְּלֵיke/LEvessels ofעֵץetswoodוָחֶרֶשׂva/CHE/resand clayוְיֵשׁve/YESHand there areלְכָבוֹדle/kha/VODfor honorוְיֵשׁve/YESHand there areלְבִזָּיוֹן׃le/viz/za/YONfor contempt

    But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

21. 21

    וְאִםve/IMand ifטִהַרti/HARcleansesאִישׁisha manאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhimselfמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/lefrom theseיִהְיֶהyih/YEhe will beכְלִיkhe/LIa vesselלְכָבוֹדle/kha/VODfor honorמְקֻדָּשׁme/kud/DASHsanctifiedוּמוֹעִילu/mo/ILand usefulלַאֲדֹנָיוla/a/do/NAYVto his masterוּמוּכָןu/mu/KHANand preparedלְכׇל־מַעֲשֶׂהle/KHOL-ma/a/SEfor every workטוֹב׃tovgood

    If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

22. 22

    וּבְרַח־לְךָu/ve/RACH-le/KHAand fleeמִתַּאֲוֹתmit/ta/a/VOTfrom the desires ofהַנְּעוּרִיםhan/ne/u/RIMyouthוּרְדֹףu/re/DOFand pursueצֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteousnessאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithחֶסֶדCHE/sedcharityוְשָׁלוֹםve/sha/LOMand peaceעִם־הַקֹּרְאִיםim-hak/kor/IMwith those who callאֶל־הָאָדוֹןel-ha/a/DONto the Lordמִלֵּבmil/LEVfrom the heartטָהוֹר׃ta/HORpure

    Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23. 23

    אֲבָלa/VALbutסוּרsurturn awayמִן־הַחִידוֹתmin-ha/chi/DOTfrom the riddlesהַתְּפֵלוֹתhat/te/fe/LOTfoolishוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERandאֵיןenthere is noמוּסָרmu/SARdisciplineבָּהֶןba/HENin themבְּדַעְתְּךָbe/da/te/KHAknowingכִּיkithatמְרִיבוֹתme/ri/VOTquarrelsהֵןhentheyמוֹלִידוֹת׃mo/li/DOTbeget

    But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24. 24

    וְעֶבֶדve/E/vedand the servant ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordאַל־יָרִיבal-ya/RIVlet not quarrelכִּיkibutאִם־יִהְיֶהim-yih/YErather beרַךְrakhgentleלְכׇל־אָדָםle/KHOL-a/DAMto all menוּמֵבִיןu/me/VINand skilledלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachוְאֶרֶךְve/E/rekhand slow ofרוּחַ׃RU/achspirit

    And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25. 25

    בַּעֲנָוָהba/a/na/VAin meeknessמְיַסֵּרme/yas/SERdiscipliningאֶת־הַמִּתְקוֹמְמִיםet-ham/mit/kom/MIMthose who opposeאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיִתֵּןyit/TENwill putלָהֶםla/HEMthemהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodתְּשׁוּבָהte/shu/VArepentanceלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֶת־הָאֱמֶת׃et-ha/e/METthe truth

    In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26. 26

    וְיָקִיצוּve/ya/KI/tsuand they may come to their sensesמִמּוֹקֵשׁmim/mo/KESHout of the snare ofהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִשְׁבּוּnish/BUhad been taken captiveבְיָדוֹve/ya/DOby his handלִרְצוֹנוֹ׃lir/tso/NOfor his will

    And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
