   To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

   I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

   Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

   When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

   וּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand because ofזֹאתzotthisאַזְכִּירְךָaz/ki/re/KHAI remind youכִּיkithatתְעוֹרֵרte/o/RERyou stir upאֶת־מַתְּנַתet-mat/te/NATthe gift ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּךָbe/KHAin youבִּסְמִיכַתbis/mi/KHATby the laying on ofיָדָי׃ya/DAYmy hands

   Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

   כִּיkiforהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלֹא־נָתַןlo-na/TANhas not givenלָנוּLA/nuusרוּחַRU/acha spirit ofאֵימָהe/MAfearכִּיkibutאִם־רוּחַim-RU/achrather a spirit ofגְּבוּרָהge/vu/RApowerוְאַהֲבָהve/a/ha/VAand loveוּתְבוּנָה׃u/te/vu/NAand understanding

   For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַל־תֵּבוֹשׁal-te/VOSHbe not ashamedמֵעֵדוּתme/e/DUTof the testimony ofאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordוְלֹאve/LOand notמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meאֲסִירוֹa/si/ROhis prisonerכִּיkibutאִם־הֱיֵהim-he/YErather beחָבֵרcha/VERa companionבְּצָרוֹתbe/tsa/ROTin the troubles ofהַבְּשׂוֹרָהhab/be/so/RAthe gospelכְּפִיke/FIaccording toגְּבוּרַתge/vu/RATthe power ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

   אֲשֶׁר־הוֹשִׁיעָנוּa/SHER-ho/shi/a/NUwho has saved usוּקְרָאָנוּu/ke/ra/a/NUand called usבִּקְרִיאָהbik/ri/Awith a callingקְדוֹשָׁהke/do/SHAholyלֹאlonotכְמַעֲשֵׂינוּkhe/ma/a/SE/nuaccording to our worksכִּיkibutאִםimratherכַּעֲצָתוֹka/a/tsa/TOaccording to His counselוְחַסְדּוֹve/chas/DOand His graceהַנִּתָּןhan/nit/TANthat was givenלָנוּLA/nuusבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin the MessiahיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְמוֹתye/MOTthe days ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeternity

   Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowנִגְלָהnig/LAit was revealedבְּהֵרָאוֹתbe/he/ra/OTby the appearing ofמוֹשִׁיעֵנוּMo/shi/e/NUour SaviorיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִשְׁבִּיתhish/BIThas abolishedאֶת־הַמָּוֶתet-ham/MA/vetdeathוַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand brought outלָאוֹרla/ORto lightחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוְאַל־מָוֶתve/AL-MA/vetand immortalityעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEthroughהַבְּשׂוֹרָה׃hab/be/so/RAthe gospel

    But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERfor whichלָהּlafor itנִתַּתִּיnit/tat/TII was appointedמַגִּידmag/GIDa proclaimerוְשָׁלִיחַve/sha/LI/achand an apostleוּמוֹרֵהu/mo/REand a teacher ofהַגּוֹיִם׃hag/Go/YIMthe Gentiles

    Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERfor whichבַּעֲבוּרָהּba/a/vu/RAfor its sakeגַּםgamalsoאֶסְבֹּלes/BOLI bearאֵלֶּהEL/lethese thingsאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotאֵבוֹשׁe/VOSHI am ashamedכִּיkiforיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowבְּמִיbe/MIin whomהֶאֱמַנְתִּיhe/e/MAN/tiI have believedוּבָטוּחַu/va/TU/achand confidentאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatיָכֹלya/KHOLis ableהוּאhuheלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepאֶת־פִּקְדוֹנִיet-pik/do/NImy depositלַיּוֹםlay/YOMfor the dayהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

    For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

    הַחֲזֵקha/cha/ZEKhold fastבְּתַבְנִיתbe/tav/NITthe pattern ofהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsהַתְּמִימִיםhat/te/mi/MIMsoundאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשָׁמַעְתָּsha/MA/tayou heardמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meבָּאֱמוּנָהba/e/mu/NAin faithוּבָאַהֲבָהu/va/a/ha/VAand in loveאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin the Messiahיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

    Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

    שְׁמֹרshe/MORkeepאֶת־הַפִּקָּדוֹןet-hap/pik/ka/DONthe depositהַטּוֹבhat/TOVgoodעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEthroughרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritהַשֹּׁכֵןhash/sho/KHENwho dwellsבָּנוּ׃BA/nuin us

    That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

15. 15

    זֹאתzotthisאַתָּהat/TAyouיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowכִּי־פָנוּki-fa/NUthat turned awayמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבְּאַסְיָאbe/As/YAin Asiaוּבְתוֹכָםu/ve/to/KHAMand among themפּוּגְלוֹסPug/LOSPhygellusוְהַרְמוֹגְנִיס׃Ve/har/mog/NISand Hermogenes

    This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

    יִתֵּןyit/TENmay giveהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordרַחֲמִיםra/cha/MIMmercyלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofאֳנִיסִיפוֹרוֹסO/ni/si/fo/ROSOnesiphorusכִּיkiforפְעָמִיםfe/a/MIMtimesרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyהֵנִיחַhe/NI/achhe gave restלִיlimeוְלֹא־בוֹשׁve/LO-voshand was not ashamedמֵאֲזִקַּי׃me/a/zik/KAYof my chains

    The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

    כִּיkibutבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhen he wasבְרוֹמִיve/Ro/MIin Romeבִּקְשַׁנִיbik/sha/NIhe sought meבַּחֲרִיצוּתba/cha/ri/TSUTwith diligenceיְתֵרָהye/te/RAveryוַיִּמְצָאֵנִי׃vay/yim/tsa/e/NIand found me

    But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.

    יִתֵּןyit/TENmay He grantלוֹloto himהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordלִמְצֹאlim/TSOto findרַחֲמִיםra/cha/MIMmercyמֵאֵתme/ETofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatוּבְכַמָּהu/ve/kham/MAand in how many thingsשֵׁרֵתshe/REThe servedאֹתִיo/TImeבְּאֶפְסוֹסbe/Ef/SOSin Ephesusאַתָּהat/TAyouיֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowהֵיטֵב׃he/TEVwell

    The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
