1. 1

   וְהִנְנוּmoreoverמוֹדִיעִיםwe-make-knownאֶתְכֶםto-youאֶחָיbrethrenאֶת־חֶסֶדthe-grace-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodהַנַּעֲשֶׂהbestowedבִּקְהִלּוֹתon-the-churches-ofמַקְדּוֹנְיָא׃Macedonia

   Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;

2. 2

   כִּיbecauseבְּרָב־נִסְיוֹןin-a-great-trial-ofצָרָתָםafflictionרָבְתָהthe-abundance-ofשִׂמְחָתָםtheir-joyוְשִׁפְלוּתand-the-depth-ofעֲנִיּוּתָםtheir-povertyהֶעְדִּיפָהaboundedלְהַרְאוֹתto-showעשֶׁרthe-riches-ofתֻּמָּתָם׃their-liberality

   How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

3. 3

   כִּיbecauseמֵעִידI-bear-recordאָנֹכִיIאֲשֶׁרthatכְּכֹחָםaccording-to-their-powerוְיוֹתֵרand-beyondמִכֹּחָםtheir-powerהִתְנַדָּבוּ׃they-were-willing-of-themselves

   For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;

   וַיְבַקְשׁוּprayingמִמֶּנּוּusבְּרָב־תַּחֲנוּנִיםwith-much-intreatyלְהִשְׁתַּתֵּףthat-they-might-take-partבִּגְמִילוּתin-the-ministering-ofחֶסֶדthe-giftשֶׁלָּהֶםtheirלְעֶזְרַתto-the-help-ofהַקְּדֹשִׁים׃the-saints

   Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

   וְלֹאand-notכַּאֲשֶׁרasהוֹחַלְנוּwe-hopedנָתָנוּthey-didכִּיbutאֶת־נַפְשָׁםtheir-own-selvesנָתְנוּthey-gaveלָאָדוֹןto-the-Lordבַּתְּחִלָּהfirstוְגַם־לָנוּand-unto-usבִּרְצוֹןby-the-will-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God

   And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

   עַל־כֵּןthereforeזֵרַזְנוּwe-desiredאֶת־טִיטוֹסTitusשֶׁגַּם־יִגְמֹרthat-he-would-also-finishבָּכֶםin-youכַּאֲשֶׁרasהֵחֵלhe-had-begunאֶת־גְּמִילוּתthe-ministering-ofהַחֶסֶדgraceהַזֹּאת׃this

   Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.

7. 7

   וְעַתָּהthereforeכַּאֲשֶׁרasהוֹתַרְתֶּםyou-aboundבַּכֹּלin-every-thingבֶּאֱמוּנָהin-faithוּבְדִבּוּרand-utteranceוּבְדַעַתand-knowledgeוּבְכׇל־זְרִיזוּתand-in-all-diligenceוּבְאַהֲבַתְכֶםand-in-your-loveאֹתָנוּto-usכֵּןsee-thatגַּם־תּוֹתִירוּyou-abound-alsoבַּחֶסֶדin-graceהַזֶּה׃this

   Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

8. 8

   וְאֵינֶנִּיI...notאֹמֵרspeakכֵּןthisכִּמְצַוֶּהby-commandmentכִּיbutאִם־לִבְחֹןto-proveעַל־יְדֵיbyזְרִיזוּתthe-forwardness-ofאֲחֵרִיםothersאֶת־אַהֲבַתְכֶםyour-loveאִםwhetherאֱמֶתsincereהִיא׃it-is

   I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

   כִּי־יֹדְעִיםfor-you-knowאַתֶּםyouאֶת־חֶסֶדthe-grace-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּour-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahשֶׁבִּהְיוֹתוֹthat-though-he-wasעָשִׁירrichנַעֲשָׂהhe-becameרָשׁpoorבַּעֲבוּרְכֶםfor-your-sakesלְמַעַןthatתַּעֲשִׁירוּyou-might-be-richעַל־יְדֵיthroughרִישׁוֹ׃his-poverty

   For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

10. 10

    וּמְחַוֶּהand-I-giveאֲנִיIאֶת־דַּעְתִּיmy-adviceכִּיforטוֹבexpedientלָכֶםfor-youאַחֲרֵיwhoאֲשֶׁרhaveהִקְדַּמְתֶּםbegun-beforeבַּשָּׁנָהa-yearשֶׁעָבְרָהagoלֹאnotלַעֲשׂוֹתto-doבִּלְבַדonlyכִּיbutגַּם־לַעֲשׂוֹתalso-to-be-willingבְּחֵפֶץin-the-desire-ofלְבַבְכֶם׃your-hearts

    And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.

11. 11

    עַתָּהnowהַשְׁלִימוּperformאֶת־הַמַּעֲשֶׂהthe-doingלְמַעַןthatכַּאֲשֶׁרasהִתְנַדַּבְתֶּםthere-was-a-readinessלַעֲשׂוֹתto-willכֵּןsoגַּם־תִּגְמְרוּthere-may-be-a-performance-alsoכַּאֲשֶׁרaccording-asתִּמְצָאfindethיֶדְכֶם׃your-hand

    Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.

12. 12

    כִּיbecauseבִּהְיוֹתif-there-beלְאִישׁto-a-manרוּחַa-mindנְדִיבָהwillingרְצוּיָהacceptedהִיאit-isלְפִיaccording-toמַה־שֶּׁיֶּשׁ־לוֹthat-a-man-hathוְלֹא־לְפִיand-not-according-toמַה־שֶּׁאֵיןthat-which-notלוֹ׃he-hath

    For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

13. 13

    כִּיbecauseלֹאnotשֶׁתִּהְיֶהthat-there-should-beלַאֲחֵרִיםto-other-menרְוָחָהeaseוְלָכֶםand-to-youמַחְסוֹרburdenאֶלָּאbutיְמַלֵּאmay-supplyיִתְרְכֶםyour-abundanceבָּעֵתat-the-timeהַזֹּאתthisבַּשָּׁוֶהby-an-equalityאֶת־מַחְסוֹרָם׃their-want

    For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:

14. 14

    לְמַעַןin-order-thatיִהְיֶהmay-beגַּם־יִתְרָםtheir-abundance-alsoלְמַלֵּאa-supply-forמַחְסֹרְכֶםyour-wantכְּדֵיthat-there-may-beלְהַשְׁוֹת׃equality

    But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:

15. 15

    כַּכָּתוּבas-it-is-writtenלֹאnotהֶעְדִּיףover-aboundedהַמַּרְבֶּהhe-that-gathered-muchוְהַמַּמְעִיטand-he-that-gathered-littleלֹאnoהֶחְסִיר׃lacked

    As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

16. 16

    וְתוֹדוֹתbut-thanks-beלֵאלֹהִיםto-Godהַנּוֹתֵןwhich-putגַּם־בְּלֵבalso-into-the-heart-ofטִיטוֹסTitusלִשְׁקֹדto-careעֲלֵיכֶםfor-youכַּשְּׁקִידָהthe-same-earnest-careהַזֹּאת׃this

    But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

17. 17

    כִּיbecauseשָׁמַעhe-acceptedלְבַקָּשָׁתֵנוּour-exhortationוּבִשְׁקִידָתוֹbut-in-his-diligenceהַיְתֵרָהmore-forwardהָלַךְhe-wentאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youלִרְצוֹנוֹ׃of-his-own-accord

    For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.

18. 18

    וְעִמּוֹand-with-himיַחְדָּוtogetherשָׁלַחְנוּwe-have-sentהָאָחthe-brotherאֲשֶׁרwhoseיָצָאhath-gone-forthלוֹhisשֵׁםpraiseטוֹבgoodבַּבְּשׂוֹרָהin-the-gospelבְּכׇל־הַקְּהִלּוֹת׃throughout-all-the-churches

    And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;

19. 19

    וְלֹאand-notעוֹדonlyאֶלָּאbutשֶׁהַקְּהִלּוֹתthat-the-churchesגַּם־בָּחֲרוּalso-choseבוֹhimלָלֶכֶתto-travelאִתָּנוּwith-usלְהָבִיאto-bringהַחֶסֶדthe-graceהַזֶּהthisהַגָּבוּיwhich-is-administeredעַל־יָדֵינוּby-usלִכְבוֹדto-the-glory-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordוּלְאַמֵּץand-to-strengthenלְבָבֵנוּ׃our-purpose

    And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:

20. 20

    וְנִשָּׁמֵרavoidingבָּזֹאתthisשֶׁלּאthat...noיוֹצִיאshould-bringאִישׁmanעָלֵינוּagainst-usדִּבָּהa-blameרָעָהevilבְּשִׁפְעַתin-the-abundance-ofהַמַּתָּנָהthe-giftהַזֹּאתthisהַגְּבוּיָהwhich-is-administeredעַל־יָדֵינוּ׃by-us

    Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:

21. 21

    כִּי־מַשְׁגִּיחִיםfor-providingאֲנַחְנוּweעַל־הַטּוֹבfor-honest-thingsלֹאnotלִפְנֵיin-the-sight-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordבִּלְבָדonlyאֶלָּאbutגַּם־לִפְנֵיalso-in-the-sight-ofהָאָדָם׃men

    Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

22. 22

    וְשָׁלַחְנוּand-we-have-sentעִמָּהֶםwith-themאֶת־אָחִינוּour-brotherאֲשֶׁרwhomבָּחַנּוּwe-have-provedאֶת־שְׁקִידָתוֹhis-diligenceפְּעָמִיםtimesרַבּוֹתmanyבִּדְבָרִיםin-many-thingsהַרְבֵּהmuchוְעַתָּהbut-nowהוּאhe-isשָׁקוּדdiligentעוֹדyetיוֹתֵרmuch-moreבְּרֹבin-the-greatבִּטְחוֹנוֹconfidenceעֲלֵיכֶם׃in-you

    And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.

23. 23

    וְטִיטוֹסwhether-of-Titusהֲלֹאis-he-notהוּאheחֲבֵרִיmy-partnerוְעֹזְרִיand-fellowhelperבָכֶםconcerning-youוְאַחֵינוּor-our-brethrenהֲלֹאare-they-notהֵםtheyשְׁלוּחֵיthe-messengers-ofהַקְּהִלּוֹתthe-churchesוְתִפְאֶרֶתand-the-glory-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    Whether any do inquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be inquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

24. 24

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeהַרְאוּshewוְהוֹכִיחוּand-proveלָהֶםto-themבִּפְנֵיbeforeהַקְּהִלּוֹתthe-churchesאֶת־אַהֲבַתְכֶםyour-loveוְאֶת־תְּהִלָּתֵנוּand-our-boastingבָּכֶם׃on-your-behalf

    Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
