   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeבִּהְיוֹתbih/YOTsince there areלָנוּLA/nuto usהַהַבְטָחוֹתha/hav/ta/CHOTthe promisesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseיְדִידַיye/di/DAYmy belovedנְטַהֲרָהne/ta/ha/RAlet us cleanseאֶת־נַפְשֵׁנוּet-naf/SHE/nuourselvesמִכׇּל־חֶלְאַתmik/KOL-chel/ATfrom all filthiness ofהַבָּשָׂרhab/ba/SARthe fleshוְהָרוּחַve/Ha/RU/achand the Spiritוּמַשְׁלִימִיםu/mash/li/MIMand completingקֹדֶשׁKO/deshholinessבְּיִרְאַתbe/yir/ATin the fear ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2. 2

   תְּנוּ־לָנוּte/NU-LA/nugive usמָקוֹםma/KOMplaceבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMin your heartsלֹאlonotחָמַסְנוּcha/mas/NUhave we wrongedאִישׁisha manלֹאlonotחִבַּלְנוּchib/bal/NUhave we corruptedאִישׁisha manלֹאlonotעָשַׁקְנוּa/shak/NUhave we oppressedאִישׁ׃isha man

   Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

   אֵינֶנִּיe/NEN/niI am notמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakingלְהַרְשִׁיעַle/har/SHI/ato condemnאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכִּיkiforכְבָרkhe/VARalreadyאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI have saidכִּיkithatאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areבְּלִבֵּנוּbe/lib/BE/nuin our heartsלָמוּתla/MUTto dieיַחַדYA/chadtogetherוְלִחְיוֹתve/lich/YOTand to liveיָחַד׃YA/chadtogether

   I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.

   Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

   כִּיkiforגַּם־בְּבֹאֵנוּgam-be/vo/e/NUalso when we cameאֶל־מַקְדּוֹנְיָאel-Mak/don/YAinto Macedoniaלֹא־הָיְתָהlo-ha/ye/TAthere was noמַרְגֵּעָהmar/ge/Arestלִבְשָׂרֵנוּliv/sa/RE/nufor our fleshכִּיkibutאִם־נִלְחַצְנוּim-nil/chats/NUrather we were pressedמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVaroundמִחוּץmi/CHUTSoutsideמִלְחָמוֹתmil/cha/MOTbattlesוּמִבַּיִתu/mib/BA/yitand insideאֵימָה׃e/MAdread

   For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהַמְנַחֵםham/na/CHEMwho comfortsאֶת־הַשְּׁפָלִיםet-hash/she/fa/LIMthe lowlyנִחַםni/CHAMcomfortedאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusבְּבוֹאbe/VOby the coming ofטִיטוֹס׃Ti/TOSTitus

   Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

7. 7

   וְלֹאve/LOand notבְּבֹאוֹbe/vo/Oby his comingלְבַדle/VADonlyכִּיkibutאִם־בַּנֶּחָמָהim-ban/ne/cha/MArather by the comfortאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנֻחַםnu/CHAMhe was comfortedבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youכִּיkiwhenהִגִּידhig/GIDhe toldלָנוּLA/nuusאֶת־תְּשׁוּקַתְכֶםet-te/shu/kat/KHEMyour longingוְאֶת־אֶבְלְכֶםve/ET-ev/le/KHEMand your mourningוְאֶת־קִנְאַתְכֶםve/ET-kin/at/KHEMand your zealלִיlifor meוּבְכֵןu/ve/KHENand soהוֹסַפְתִּיho/saf/TII increasedלִשְׂמֹחַ׃lis/MO/achto rejoice

   And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

   כִּיkiforגַּם־אִם־הֶעֱצַבְתִּיgam-im-he/e/tsav/TIeven if I grievedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּאִגַּרְתִּיbe/ig/gar/TIby my letterלֹאlonotאֶנָּחֵםen/na/CHEMI regretגַּםgamevenכִּי־נִחַמְתִּיki-ni/CHAM/tifor I regrettedכִּיkiforרֹאֶהro/Eseeאֲנִיa/NIIכִּי־הָאִגֶּרֶתki-ha/ig/GE/retthat the letterהַהִיאha/HIthatהֶעֱצִיבָהhe/e/tsi/VAgrievedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְאַףve/AFevenאִם־לְעֵת׃im-le/ETwhether for a time

   For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.

   עַתָּהat/TAnowאֲנִיa/NIIשָׂמֵחַsa/ME/achrejoiceלֹאlonotעַל־אֲשֶׁרal-a/SHERbecauseנֶעֱצַבְתֶּםne/e/tsav/TEMyou were grievedכִּיkibutאִםimratherעַל־אֲשֶׁרal-a/SHERbecauseנֶעֱצַבְתֶּםne/e/tsav/TEMyou were grievedלִתְשׁוּבָהlit/shu/VAto repentanceכִּיkiforנֶעֱצַבְתֶּםne/e/tsav/TEMyou were grievedכִּרְצוֹןkir/TSONafter the will ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beלָכֶםla/KHEMto youנֵזֶקNE/zekdamageבִמְאוּמָהvim/U/main anythingעַל־יָדֵינוּ׃al-ya/DE/nuby us

   Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

    כִּיkiforהָעַצֶּבֶתha/ats/TSE/vetthe griefאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isכִּרְצוֹןkir/TSONafter the will ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodפֹּעֶלֶתpo/E/letworksתְּשׁוּבָהte/shu/VArepentanceלִישׁוּעָהli/shu/Ato salvationאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאִישׁisha manלֹאlonotיִנָּחֵםyin/na/CHEMwill be regrettedעָלֶיהָa/LE/haof itוְעַצְּבַתve/ats/tse/VATand the grief ofהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldפֹּעֶלֶתpo/E/letworksמָוֶת׃MA/vetdeath

    For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנֶעֱצַבְתֶּםne/e/tsav/TEMyou were grievedכִּרְצוֹןkir/TSONafter the will ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodמַה־דְּאָגָהma-de/a/GAwhat anxietyפָּעַלpa/ALit workedבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youאַףafevenמַה־נִּצְטַדַּקְתֶּםma-nits/tad/dak/TEMwhat self-justificationאַףafevenמַה־זַּעַםma-ZA/amwhat indignationאַףafevenמַה־יִּרְאָהma-yir/Awhat fearאַףafevenמַה־תְּשׁוּקָהma-te/shu/KAwhat longingאַףafevenמַה־קִּנְאָהma-kin/Awhat zealאַףafevenמַה־נְּקָמָהma-ne/ka/MAwhat vengeanceבַּכֹּלbak/KOLin all thingsנִבְחַנְתֶּםniv/chan/TEMyou were testedלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beנְקִיִּםne/kiy/YIMcleanבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARin the matterהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeגַּםgamevenאִם־כָּתַבְתִּיim-ka/TAV/tiif I wroteלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotכָתַבְתִּיkha/TAV/tiI wroteבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַחֹמֵסha/cho/MESthe one who did wrongוְלֹאve/LOand notבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַנֶּחְמָסhan/nech/MASthe one who suffered wrongכִּיkibutאִם־לְמַעַןim-le/MA/anrather so thatתִּגָּלֶהtig/ga/LEmay be revealedאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youדַּאֲגָתֵנוּda/a/ga/te/NUour anxietyבַּעַדְכֶםba/ad/KHEMfor youלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeנֻחַמְנוּnu/cham/NUwe were comfortedבְנֶחָמַתְכֶםve/ne/cha/mat/KHEMin your comfortוְעוֹדve/ODand moreשָׂמַחְנוּsa/mach/NUwe rejoiceיֶתֶרYE/termoreמְאֹדme/ODmuchבְּשִׂמְחַתbe/sim/CHATfor the joy ofטִיטוֹסTi/TOSTitusכִּיkibecauseהוּנַחhu/NACHwas refreshedלְרוּחוֹle/ru/CHOhis spiritעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyכֻּלְּכֶם׃kul/le/KHEMall of you

    Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforאִם־הִתְהַלַּלְתִּיim-hit/hal/lal/TIif I have boastedדָבָרda/VARanythingלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himבָּכֶםba/KHEMabout youלֹאlonotנִכְלָמְתִּיnikh/LAM/tiwas I put to shameכִּיkibutכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְנוּdib/BAR/nuwe spokeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youהַכֹּלhak/KOLall thingsבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METin truthכֵּןkensoגַּם־תְּהִלָּתֵנוּgam-te/hil/la/te/NUalso our boastingלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeטִיטוֹסTi/TOSTitusנִמְצְאָהnim/tse/Awas foundאֱמֶת׃e/METtruth

    For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth.

15. 15

    וּמֵעָיוu/me/AYVand his bowelsיֶהֱמוּye/he/MUyearnלָכֶםla/KHEMtoward youיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreבְּזָכְרוֹbe/za/khe/ROas he remembersאֶת־מִשְׁמַעַתet-mish/MA/atthe obedience ofכֻּלְּכֶםkul/le/KHEMall of youוְאֵתve/ETandאֲשֶׁרa/SHERhowקִבַּלְתֶּםkib/bal/TEMyou receivedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּיִרְאָהbe/yir/Awith fearוּבַחֲרָדָה׃u/va/cha/ra/DAand trembling

    And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

16. 16

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeשָׂמֵחַsa/ME/achrejoiceאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatבֹּטֵחַbo/TE/achI trustאֲנִיa/NIIבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youבְּכׇל־דָּבָר׃be/KHOL-da/VARin all things

    I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.
