1. 1

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidזֹאתzotthisבְלִבִּיve/lib/BIin my heartלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotשׁוּב־עוֹדshuv-odto come againאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבְּעִצָּבוֹן׃be/its/tsa/VONin sorrow

   But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

2. 2

   כִּיkiforאִם־אֲנִיim-a/NIif Iאַעֲצִיבְכֶםa/a/tsi/ve/KHEMgrieve youמִיmiwhoאֵפוֹאe/FOthenיְשַׂמְּחֵנִיye/sam/me/che/NIwill gladden meבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptאִם־הַנֶּעְצָבim-han/ne/TSAVthe one grievedעַל־יָדִי׃al-ya/DIby me

   For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

   וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisכָּתַבְתִּיka/TAV/tiI wroteלָכֶםla/KHEMto youפֶּן־אָבֹאpen-a/VOlest I comeוְהָיָה־לִיve/ha/YA-liand I haveעֶצֶבE/tsevgriefמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָלַיa/LAYon meלִשְׂמֹחַlis/MO/achto rejoiceעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMover themוּבֹטֵחַu/vo/TE/achand trustingאֲנִיa/NIIבְּכֻלְּכֶםbe/khul/le/KHEMin all of youכִּיkithatשִׂמְחָתִיsim/cha/TImy joyהִיאhiisשִׂמְחַתsim/CHATthe joy ofכֻּלְּכֶם׃kul/le/KHEMall of you

   And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

   כִּיkiforמֵרֹבme/ROVout of muchצָרָהtsa/RAtroubleוּמְצוּקַתu/me/tsu/KATand distress ofלֵבlevheartכָּתַבְתִּיka/TAV/tiI wroteלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבִּדְמָעוֹתbid/ma/OTwith tearsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyוְלֹאve/LOand notלְהַעֲצִיבְכֶםle/ha/a/tsi/ve/KHEMto grieve youכִּיkibutלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou might knowאֶת־הָאַהֲבָהet-ha/a/ha/VAthe loveהַיְתֵרָהhay/te/RAthe abundantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָהַבְתִּיa/HAV/tiI have lovedאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

   For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

   וְאִםve/IMbut ifהֶעֱצִיבhe/e/TSIVhas he grievedאִישׁisha manלֹאlonotאֹתִיo/TImeהֶעֱצִיבhe/e/TSIVhas he grievedכִּיkibutאִם־לְמִקְצָתim-le/mik/TSATrather in partלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notהַכְבִּידhakh/BIDburdenעַל־כֻּלְּכֶם׃al-kul/le/KHEMfor all of you

   But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

   דַּיdayenoughלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manכָּזֶהka/ZEsuchהַתּוֹכֵחָהhat/to/khe/CHAthe rebukeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatמֵאֵתme/ETofהָרַבִּים׃ha/rab/BIMthe many

   Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeהֶפֶךְHE/fekhcontraryעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMon youלִסְלֹחַlis/LO/achto forgiveלוֹlohimוּלְנַחֲמוֹu/le/na/cha/MOand to comfort himפֶּןpenlestיְבֻלַּעye/vul/LAshould be swallowed upאִישׁisha manכָּזֶהka/ZEsuchבְּרֹבbe/ROVby the greatness ofעִצָּבוֹן׃its/tsa/VONgrief

   So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

8. 8

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאֲבַקְשָׁהa/vak/SHAI askמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youכִּיkithatתְּקַיְּמוּte/kay/ye/MUyou confirmאֶת־אַהֲבַתְכֶםet-a/ha/vat/KHEMyour loveאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

   Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.

9. 9

   כִּיkibecauseגַּם־לָזֹאתgam-la/ZOTeven to thisכָּתַבְתִּיka/TAV/tiI wroteלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatאֵדַעe/DAI might knowאֶת־בׇּחְנְכֶםet-boch/ne/KHEMyour proofאִם־בַּכֹּלim-bak/KOLif in allתִּשְׁמָעוּן׃tish/ma/UNyou listen

   For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

10. 10

    וְלַאֲשֶׁרve/la/a/SHERand to whomתִּסְלְחוּtis/le/CHUyou forgiveלוֹlohimדָבָרda/VARanythingגַּם־אֲנִיgam-a/NII alsoסֹלֵחַso/LE/achforgivingכִּיkiforאִם־סָלַחְתִּיim-sa/LACH/tiif I forgaveדָבָרda/VARanythingלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto whomסָלַחְתִּיsa/LACH/tiI forgaveלוֹlohimלְמַעַנְכֶםle/ma/an/KHEMfor your sakeסָלַחְתִּיsa/LACH/tiI forgaveלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

    פֶּן־יוֹנֶהpen-yo/NElest cheatאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanכִּיkiforלֹא־נֶעֶלְמוּlo-ne/el/MUare not hiddenמֵאִתָּנוּme/it/TA/nufrom usמְזִמּוֹתָיו׃me/zim/mo/TAYVhis schemes

    Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

12. 12

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iבְּבֹאִיbe/vo/Iwhen I cameלִטְרוֹאַסLit/ro/ASto Troasלְבַשֵּׂרle/vas/SERto proclaimבְּשׂוֹרַתbe/so/RATthe gospel ofהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahוּפֶתַחu/FE/tachand a doorנִפְתַּחnif/TACHwas openedלִיlito meבָּאָדוֹן׃ba/a/DONin the Lord

    Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

    לֹא־הָיְתָהlo-ha/ye/TAthere was noרְוָחָהre/va/CHArestלְרוּחִיle/ru/CHIto my spiritכִּיkibecauseלֹא־מָצָאתִיlo-ma/TSA/tiI did not findשָׁםshamthereאֶת־טִיטוֹסet-Ti/TOSTitusאָחִיa/CHImy brotherוָאֶפָּרֵדva/ep/pa/REDand I partedמֵהֶםme/HEMof themוָאֵצֵאva/e/TSEand I went outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאֶל־מַקְדֹּנְיָא׃el-Mak/don/YAinto Macedonia

    I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

14. 14

    וְתוֹדָהve/to/DAand thanksלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godהַנֹּתֵןhan/no/TENwho givesלָנוּLA/nuusתְּשׁוּעָהte/shu/AdeliveranceבַמָּשִׁיחַVam/ma/SHI/achin the Messiahבְּכׇל־עֵתbe/KHOL-etalwaysוּמְגַלֶּהu/me/gal/LEand makes manifestעַל־יָדֵינוּal-ya/DE/nuthrough usאֶת־רֵיחַet-RE/achthe fragrance ofדַּעְתּוֹda/TOHis knowledgeבְּכׇל־מָקוֹם׃be/KHOL-ma/KOMin every place

    Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15. 15

    כִּיkiforאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto GodרֵיחַRE/acha fragranceנִיחֹחַni/CHO/achpleasingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isלַמָּשִׁיחַlam/Ma/SHI/achof the Messiahבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongהַנּוֹשָׁעִיםhan/no/sha/IMthose being savedוּבְתוֹךְu/ve/TOKHand amongהָאֹבְדִים׃ha/ov/DIMthose perishing

    For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16. 16

    לָאֵלֶּהla/EL/leto theseרֵיחַRE/acha fragrance ofמָוֶתMA/vetdeathלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathוְלָאֵלֶּהve/la/EL/leand to theseרֵיחַRE/acha fragrance ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeלַחַיִּיםla/chay/YIMto lifeוּמִי־זֶהu/MI-zeand who isכָשֵׁרkha/SHERsufficientלָאֵלֶּה׃la/EL/lefor these

    To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

17. 17

    כִּיkibecauseלֹאlonotכָרַבִּיםkha/rab/BIMlike the manyאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areהַמַּשְׁחִיתִיםham/mash/chi/TIMwho corruptאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodכִּיkibutאִםimratherמִיֹּשֶׁרmiy/YO/sherfrom uprightnessכִּיkibutאִםimratherמֵאֵתme/ETofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodנְדַבֵּרne/dab/BERwe speakבַּמָּשִׁיחַ׃bam/Ma/SHI/achin the Messiah

    For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
