1. 1

   אׇמְנָםtrulyנִצְרַכְתִּיI-must-needsלְהִתְהַלֵּלgloryוְאַףthoughכִּיthatלֹאnotיוֹעִילit-is-expedientאָבוֹאI-will-comeלְמַרְאוֹתto-visions-ofהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordוְחֶזְיֹנוֹתָיו׃and-his-revelations

   It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

2. 2

   יָדַעְתִּיI-knewאִישׁa-manבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-Messiahאֲשֶׁרwhichלֻקַּחwas-caught-upעַד־לָרָקִיעַto-the-firmamentהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthirdזֶהaboutאַרְבַּע־עֶשְׂרֵהfourteenשָׁנָהyears-agoאִם־בַּגּוּףwhether-in-the-bodyלֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI-knowאוֹ־מִחוּץor-whether-out-ofלַגּוּףthe-bodyלֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI-knowהָאֱלֹהִיםGodיוֹדֵעַ׃knoweth

   I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

   וְהָאִישׁand-such-aהַהוּאmanאִם־בַּגּוּףwhether-in-the-bodyאוֹ־חוּץor-out-ofלַגּוּףthe-bodyלֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI-knowהָאֱלֹהִיםGodיוֹדֵעַ׃knoweth

   And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

4. 4

   הֹעֲלָהhe-was-caught-upאֶל־הַפַּרְדֵּסinto-paradiseוַיִּשְׁמַעand-heardדְּבָרִיםwordsנִסְתָּרִיםunspeakableאֲשֶׁרwhichנִמְנָעit-is-not-lawfulמֵאִישׁfor-a-manלְמַלֲלָם׃to-utter

   How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

   בְּאִישׁof-suchכָּמוֹהוּan-oneאֶתְהַלֵּלwill-I-gloryאֲבָלyetבְּעַצְמִיof-myselfלֹאnotאֶתְהַלֵּלwill-I-gloryזוּלָתִיbutבְּחֻלְשׁוֹתָי׃in-mine-infirmities

   Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

   וְאִלּוּ־חָפַצְתִּיfor-though-I-would-desireלְהִתְהַלֵּלto-gloryלֹא־אֶהְיֶהI-shall-not-beסָכׇלa-foolלְפִיforשֶׁאֱמֶתthe-truthאֲדַבֵּרI-will-sayאֶלָּאbutאֶתְאַפַּקI-forbearשֶׁלּא־יַחְשְׁבֵנִיlest-should-think-meאִישׁany-manיוֹתֵרaboveמִמַּה־שֶּׁיִּרְאֶהthat-which-he-seethבִיin-meאוֹorשֶׁיִּשְׁמַעthat-he-hearethמִמֶּנִּי׃of-me

   For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

   וּלְמַעַןand-lestאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotאֶתְרוֹמֵםI-should-be-exalted-above-measureבְּרָב־גֹּדֶלthrough-the-abundance-ofהַחֶזְיֹנוֹתthe-revelationsקוֹץa-thornנִתַּן־לִיwas-given-to-meבִּבְשָׂרִיin-the-fleshמַלְאָכוֹthe-messengerשֶׁל־הַשָּׂטָןof-Satanלְהַכֹּתֵנִיto-buffet-meבְּאֶגְרוֹףwith-the-fistלְמַעַןlestלֹאnotאֶתְרוֹמָם׃I-should-be-exalted

   And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

8. 8

   עַל־זֹאתfor-this-thingהִתְחַנַּנְתִּיI-besoughtשָׁלשׁthriceפְּעָמִיםtimesאֶל־הָאָדוֹןthe-Lordלַהֲסִירוֹthat-it-might-departמִמֶּנִּי׃from-me

   For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרand-he-saidאֵלַיunto-meדַּיֶּךָּis-sufficientחַסְדִּיmy-graceכִּיforבַּחֻלְשָׁהin-weaknessתֻּשְׁלַםis-made-perfectגְּבוּרָתִיmy-strengthעַל־כֵּןthereforeשָׂמַחrejoicethלִבִּיmy-heartלְהִתְהַלֵּלto-gloryבְּחֻלְשׁוֹתַיin-my-infirmitiesלְמַעַןthatתִּשְׁרֶהmay-restעָלַיupon-meגְּבוּרַתthe-power-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

   And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10. 10

    לָכֵןthereforeרָצְתָהtaketh-pleasureנַפְשִׁיmy-soulבְּחֻלְשׁוֹתin-infirmitiesוּבַחֲרָפוֹתin-reproachesוּבְצָרוֹתin-necessitiesוּבִרְדִיפוֹתin-persecutionsוּבִמְצוּקוֹתin-distressesלְמַעַןfor-the-sake-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahכִּי־כַאֲשֶׁרfor-whenחָלַשְׁתִּיI-am-weakאָזthenגִּבּוֹרstrongאָנִי׃am-I

    Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

11. 11

    סָכׇלa-foolהָיִיתִיI-am-becomeבְּהִתְהַלֲלִיin-gloryingאַתֶּםyouהִכְרַחְתֶּםhave-compelledאֹתִיmeתַּחַתforאֲשֶׁר־הָיָהit-wasעֲלֵיכֶםyour-partלְהַזְכִּירֵנִיto-commend-meלָשֶׁבַחto-praiseכִּיforלֹא־נֹפֵלI-am-not-behindאָנֹכִיIמִן־הַשְּׁלִיחִיםthe-apostlesהַגְּדוֹלִיםchiefestעַד־מְאֹדthe-veryאַףthoughכִּי־כְאַיִןI-be-nothingאָנֹכִי׃I

    I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.

12. 12

    הֵן־אֹתוֹתtruly-the-signs-ofהַשָּׁלִיחַan-apostleנַעֲשׂוּwere-wroughtבְקִרְבְּכֶםamong-youבְּכׇל־סַבְלָנוּתin-all-patienceבְּאֹתוֹתin-signsוּבְמוֹפְתִיםand-wondersוּבִגְבוּרוֹת׃and-mighty-deeds

    Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

13. 13

    כִּי־בַמֶּהfor-whereinנִגְרַעְתֶּםyou-were-inferiorמִן־הַקְּהִלּוֹתto-the-churchesהָאֲחֵרוֹתotherאִם־לֹאexceptבַּאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotהֶלְאֵיתִיI-was-burdensome-toאֶתְכֶםyouסִלְחוּ־נָאforgiveלִיmeאֶת־הָעַוְלָהwrongהַזֹּאת׃this

    For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.

14. 14

    הִנְנִיbehold-Iמוּכָןam-readyלָבוֹאto-comeאֲלֵיכֶםto-youפַּעַםthe-timeשְׁלִישִׁיתthirdוְלֹאand-notאַלְאֶהI-will-be-burdensomeאֶתְכֶםto-youכִּיforלֹאnotאֲבַקֵּשׁI-seekאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat-whichלָכֶםis-yoursכִּיbutאִם־אֶתְכֶםyouכִּיforהַבָּנִיםthe-childrenאֵינָםnotחַיָּבִיםoughtלֶאֱצֹרto-lay-upאוֹצָרוֹתtreasuresלַאֲבוֹתָםfor-the-parentsכִּיbutאִם־הָאָבוֹתthe-parentsלִבְנֵיהֶם׃for-the-children

    Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

15. 15

    וַאֲנִיand-Iבְּכׇל־חֵפֶץwith-all-the-desire-ofלְבָבִיmy-heartאֲפַזֵּרwill-spendוְגַםand-alsoאֲפֻזַּרbe-spentבְּעַדforנַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶםyouאַףthoughאִם־תַּמְעִיטוּyou-love-the-lessלְאַהֲבָהto-loveאֹתִיmeתַּחַתnotwithstandingאַהֲבָתִיmy-loveלָכֶםto-youהַיְתֵרָהmore-abundantכׇּל־כָּךְ׃so

    And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

16. 16

    אֲבָלbutאִם־הַדָּבָרbe-itכֵּןsoוַאֲנִיIלֹאnotהִכְבַּדְתִּיdid-burdenעֲלֵיכֶםyouאוּלַיneverthelessכְּאִישׁbeing-a-manעָרוּםcraftyבְּמִרְמָהwith-guileלָכַדְתִּיI-caughtאֶתְכֶם׃you

    But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

17. 17

    הַאַףdidהוֹנֵיתִיI-make-a-gain-ofאֶתְכֶםyouבְּיַד־אֶחָדby-any-ofמִשְּׁלוּחַיthem-I-sentאֲלֵיכֶם׃unto-you

    Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you?

18. 18

    בִּקַּשְׁתִּיI-desiredמִן־טִיטוֹסTitusוְשָׁלַחְתִּיand-I-sentאִתּוֹwith-himאֶת־הָאָחa-brotherהֲהוֹנָהdid-make-a-gain-ofאֶתְכֶםyouטִיטוֹסTitusהֲלֹאdid-we-notבְּרוּחַin-spiritאֶחָדoneהִתְהַלַּכְנוּwalkהֲלֹאdid-we-notבְּמַעְגָּלin-stepsאֶחָד׃the-same

    I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps?

19. 19

    הַעוֹדagainתֹּאמְרוּthink-youשֶׁמִּתְנַצְּלִיםthat-we-excuse-ourselvesאֲנַחְנוּweלִפְנֵיכֶםunto-youלֹאnayכִּי־לִפְנֵיbut-beforeהָאֱלֹהִיםGodנְדַבֵּרwe-speakבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-Messiahוּלְמַעַןbut-forתִּבָּנוּyour-edifyingחֲבִיבָי׃dearly-beloved

    Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

20. 20

    כִּיbecauseיָרֵאI-fearאָנֹכִיIפֶּן־אָבֹאlest-when-I-comeוְלֹא־אֶמְצָאI-shall-not-findאֶתְכֶםyouכִּלְבָבִיsuch-as-I-wouldוְלֹא־אֶמָּצֵאand-I-shall-be-foundלָכֶםunto-youכִּלְבַבְכֶםsuch-as-you-would-notפֶּןlestאֶמְצָאI-findבָכֶםin-youמַצָּהdebatesוְקִנְאָהenvyingsוָרֹגֶזwrathsוּמְרִיבוֹתstrifesוְדִבָּהbackbitingsרָעָהevilוּרְכִילוּתwhisperingsוְגֵאוּתswellingsוּמְבוּכָה׃tumults

    For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

21. 21

    פֶּן־יַשְׁפִּילֵנִיlest-humble-meאֱלֹהַיmy-Godאֶצְלְכֶםamong-youבְּשׁוּבִיwhen-againלָבוֹאI-comeוְאֶתְאַבֵּלand-I-shall-bewailעַל־רַבִּיםmanyאֲשֶׁר־חָטְאוּwhich-have-sinnedכְבָרalreadyוְלֹאand-notשָׁבוּrepentedמִן־הַטֻּמְאָהof-the-uncleannessוּמִן־הַזְּנוּתand-fornicationוּמִן־הַזִּמָּהand-lasciviousnessאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשׂוֹ׃they-have-committed

    And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
