   Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

   וְאֶתְחַנֲנָהve/et/cha/na/NAand I pleadלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notאֶתְאַמֵּץet/am/METSI may be boldבִּהְיוֹתִיbih/yo/TIwhen I amבְתוֹכְכֶםve/tokh/KHEMamong youבַּבִּטָּחוֹןbab/bit/ta/CHONwith the confidenceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIחֹשֵׁבcho/SHEVI thinkלְהִתְאַמֵּץle/hit/am/METSto be boldבּוֹbowith itעַל־אֲנָשִׁיםal-a/na/SHIMagainst menהַחֹשְׁבִיםha/chosh/VIMwho thinkאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuof usכְּמִתְהַלְּכִיםke/mit/hal/le/KHIMas walkingלְפִיle/FIaccording toהַבָּשָׂר׃hab/ba/SARthe flesh

   But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

   כִּיkiforאַףafevenאִם־בַּבָּשָׂרim-bab/ba/SARif in the fleshנִתְהַלֵּךְnit/hal/LEKHwe walkלֹאlonotלְפִיle/FIaccording toהַבָּשָׂרhab/ba/SARthe fleshנִלָּחֵם׃nil/la/CHEMwe fight

   For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

   כִּי־כְלֵיki-khe/LEfor the weapons ofמִלְחַמְתֵּנוּmil/cham/te/NUour warfareלֹאlonotבָשָׂרva/SARfleshהֵםhemareכִּיkibutאִםimratherחֲזָקִיםcha/za/KIMstrongבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMthrough Godלַהֲרֹסla/ha/ROSto tear downמִבְצָרִים׃miv/tsa/RIMstrongholds

   (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

   בַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERin thatהֹרְסִיםhor/SIMtearing downאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweמַחְשָׁבוֹתmach/sha/VOTthoughtsוְכׇל־מָרוֹםve/KHOL-ma/ROMand every heightמִתְנַשֵּׂאmit/nas/SEthat exalts itselfנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstדַּעַתDA/atthe knowledge ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְשׁוֹבִיםve/sho/VIMand taking captiveכׇּל־מְזִמָּהkol-me/zim/MAevery deviceלְמִשְׁמַעַתle/mish/MA/atto the obedience ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

   Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

   וּנְכוֹנִיםu/ne/kho/NIMand readyלִנְקֹםlin/KOMto avengeנְקָמָהne/ka/MAvengeanceמֵאֵתme/ETonכׇּל־מֶרִיkol-ME/riall rebellionכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenתִּשְׁלַםtish/LAMis completedמִשְׁמַעְתְּכֶם׃mish/ma/te/KHEMyour obedience

   And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

   הֲלַעֵינַיִםha/la/e/NA/yimis it by the eyesתִּרְאוּtir/Uyou lookאִם־אִישׁim-ishif a manבֹּטֵחַbo/TE/achtrustsבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartכִּיkiifלַמָּשִׁיחַlam/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah'sהוּאhuhe isיָשׁוּבya/SHUVlet him againוְיַחְשֹׁבve/yach/SHOVlet him thinkזֹאתzotthisמִלִּבּוֹmil/lib/BOfrom his heartכִּיkithatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהוּאhuhe isלַמָּשִׁיחַlam/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah'sכֵּןkensoגַּם־אֲנַחְנוּgam-a/NACH/nualso weלַמָּשִׁיחַ׃lam/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah's

   Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

8. 8

   וְגַםve/GAMand evenכִּי־אַרְבֶּהki-ar/BEif I increaseמְעַטme/ATa littleלְהִתְהַלֵּלle/hit/hal/LELto boastבָּרִשְׁיוֹןba/rish/YONin the authorityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָתַן־לָנוּna/TAN-LA/nugave usהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordלִבְנוֹתְכֶםliv/not/KHEMto build you upוְלֹאve/LOand notלְהׇרְסְכֶםle/hor/se/KHEMfor your destructionלֹאlonotאֵבוֹשׁ׃e/VOSHI will be ashamed

   For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

9. 9

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anin orderאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotאֵרָאֶהe/ra/EI seemכִּמְבַעֵתkim/va/ETas terrifyingאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבָּאִגְּרוֹת׃ba/ig/ge/ROTby the letters

   That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

10. 10

    כִּיkiforאִגְּרוֹתָיוig/ge/ro/TAYVhis lettersאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidכְּבֵדוֹתke/ve/DOTwere heavyוַחֲזָקוֹתva/cha/za/KOTand powerfulאַךְakhbutמַרְאֵהmar/Ethe appearance ofגוּפוֹgu/FOhis bodyרָפֶהra/FEis weakוּדְבָרוֹu/de/va/ROand his wordנִבְזֶה׃niv/ZEdespised

    For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

    זֹאתzotthisיַחְשֹׁבyach/SHOVlet thinkהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַהוּאha/HUthatכִּיkithatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARin wordבָּאִגְּרוֹתba/ig/ge/ROTby the lettersבִּהְיוֹתֵנוּbih/yo/TE/nuwhen we areרְחוֹקִיםre/cho/KIMfarכֵּןkensoנִהְיֶהnih/YEwe will beגַםgamalsoבַּמַּעֲשֶׂהbam/ma/a/SEin deedבִּהְיוֹתֵנוּbih/yo/TE/nuwhen we areקְרוֹבִים׃ke/ro/VIMnear

    Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotמְלָאָנוּme/la/a/NUfilled usלִבֵּנוּlib/BE/nuour heartלְהִמָּנוֹתle/him/ma/NOTbe numberedאוֹoorלַעֲרֹךְla/a/ROKHto compareאֶת־נַפְשֵׁנוּet-naf/SHE/nuourselvesעִם־אֲנָשִׁיםim-a/na/SHIMwith menהַמַּזְכִּירִיםham/maz/ki/RIMwho commendאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesלְטוֹבָהle/to/VAfor goodאַךְakhbutהֵםhemtheyמֹדְדִיםmod/DIMmeasuringאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesבְּנַפְשָׁםbe/naf/SHAMby themselvesוְעֹרְכִיםve/or/KHIMand compareאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesלְנַפְשָׁםle/naf/SHAMwith themselvesאֵינָםe/NAMare notחֲכָמִים׃cha/kha/MIMwise

    For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

    וַאֲנַחְנוּva/a/NACH/nubut weלֹאlonotנִתְהַלֵּלnit/hal/LELwe will boastלִבְלִי־מִדָּהliv/LI-mid/DAwithout measureכִּיkibutאִםimratherכְּפִיke/FIaccording toמִדַּתmid/DATthe measure ofהַקָּוhak/KAVthe ruleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatחָלַקcha/LAKapportionedלָנוּLA/nuto usהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodמִדָּהmid/DAmeasureלְהַגִּיעַle/hag/GI/ato reachגַּם־עָדֵיכֶם׃gam-a/de/KHEMeven to you

    But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotנִשְׂתָּרֵעַnis/ta/RE/awe stretch ourselvesמֵעֵבֶרme/E/verbeyondלְמִדָּתֵנוּle/mid/da/te/NUour measureכְּלוֹאke/LOas though notהִגַּעְנוּhig/ga/NUwe reachedעָדֵיכֶםa/de/KHEMas far as youכִּיkiforגַם־עָדֵיכֶםgam-a/de/KHEMalso as far as youבָּאנוּBA/nuwe cameבִּבְשׂוֹרַתbiv/so/RATwith the gospel ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

15. 15

    לֹאlonotמִתְהַלְלִיםmit/hal/LIMboastingלִבְלִי־מִדָּהliv/LI-mid/DAwithout measureבַּעֲמַלba/a/MALwith the labor ofאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMothersאַךְakhbutיֶשׁ־לָנוּyesh-LA/nuwe haveתִקְוָהtik/VAhopeכִּיkithatבִּרְבוֹתbir/VOTwhen increasedאֱמוּנַתְכֶםe/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithנִגְדַּלnig/DALwe will be made greatבָּכֶםba/KHEMamong youכְּפִיke/FIaccording toקַוֵּנוּkav/ve/NUour ruleעַד־לְמָעְלָה׃ad-le/MA/laeven beyond

    Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

16. 16

    לְבַשֵּׂרle/vas/SERto proclaimבַּמְּקוֹמוֹתbam/me/ko/MOTin the placesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich areלְהָלְאָהle/HAL/abeyondמִכֶּםmik/KEMfrom youוְלֹאve/LOand notלְהִתְהַלֵּלle/hit/hal/LELto boastבְּקַוbe/KAVin lineאִישׁisha manאַחֵרa/CHERanotherבַּמּוּכָןbam/mu/KHANin what was preparedלְיָדֵנוּ׃le/ya/DE/nuto our hand

    To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

17. 17

    וְהַמִּתְהַלֵּלve/ham/mit/hal/LELand the one who boastsיִתְהַלֵּלyit/hal/LELlet him boastבָּאָדוֹן׃ba/a/DONin the Lord

    But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

18. 18

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotהַמַּזְכִּירham/maz/KIRthe one who commendsאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhimselfלְטוֹבָהle/to/VAfor goodהוּאhuisבָּחוּןba/CHUNapprovedכִּיkibutאִם־אֲשֶׁרim-a/SHERrather the one whomיַזְכִּירֶנּוּyaz/ki/ren/NUcommends himהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordלְטוֹבָה׃le/to/VAfor good

    For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
