1. 1

   וַאֲנִיnow-IפוֹלוֹסPaulהִנְנִיmyselfמַזְהִירbeseechאֶתְכֶםyouבְּעַנְוַתby-the-meekness-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahוְחֶמְלָתוֹand-his-gentlenessאֲשֶׁרwhoבִּפְנֵיכֶםin-presenceשְׁפַל־רוּחַam-lowly-in-spiritאֲנִיIבְּתוֹכֲכֶםamong-youוּבְרׇחֳקִיbut-being-absentמִתְאַמֵּץam-boldעֲלֵיכֶם׃toward-you

   Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

   וְאֶתְחַנֲנָהbut-I-beseechשֶׁלּאthat...notאֶצְטָרֵךְI-may-needלְהִתְאַמֵּץto-be-boldבִּהְיוֹתִיwhen-I-amבְתוֹכֲכֶםpresentבַּבִּטָּחוֹןwith-the-confidenceאֲשֶׁרwherewithיֶשׁ־לִיI-thinkלְהִתְגַּבֶּר־בּוֹto-be-boldעַל־הָאֲנָשִׁיםagainst-someהַחשְׁבִיםwhich-thinkאֹתָנוּof-usכְּמִתְהַלְּכִיםas-if-we-walkedלְפִיaccording-toהַבָּשָׂר׃the-flesh

   But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

   הֵןfor-thoughהִתְהַלַּכְנוּwe-walkבַבָּשָׂרin-the-fleshוְלֹאwe-notנִלְחַמְנוּdo-warכַּבָּשָׂר׃after-the-flesh

   For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4. 4

   כִּי־כְלֵיfor-the-weapons-ofמִלְחַמְתֵּנוּour-warfareלֹאnotשֶׁל־הַבָּשָׂרcarnalהֵםareכִּיbutאִםratherחֲזָקִיםmightyבֵּאלֹהִיםthrough-Godלַהֲרֹסto-the-pulling-down-ofמִבְצָרִים׃strong-holds

   (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

   בַּאֲשֶׁרwhileהֹרְסִיםcasting-downאֲנַחְנוּweתַּחְבֻּלוֹתimaginationsוְכׇל־מָרוֹםand-every-high-thingמִתְנַשֵּׂאthat-exalteth-itselfנֶגֶדagainstדַּעַתthe-knowledge-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodוְשׁוֹבִיםand-bringing-into-captivityכׇּל־מְזִמָּהevery-thoughtלְמִשְׁמַעַתto-the-obedience-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

   Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6. 6

   וּנְכוֹנִיםand-having-in-a-readinessלִנְקֹםto-revengeנְקָמָהvengeanceמֵאֵתuponכׇּל־מֶרִיall-disobedienceרַקwhenאִם־תִּשְׁלַםis-fulfilledמִשְׁמַעְתְּכֶם׃your-obedience

   And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

   הֲתִשְׁפְּטוּdo-you-judgeלְמַרְאֵהafter-the-appearance-ofפָנִיםthe-outwardאִישׁif-any-manכִּיthatיִתְבָּרֵךְtrustבִּלְבָבוֹto-himselfלֵאמֹרsayingלַמָּשִׁיחַChrist'sאָנִיI-amיַחֲזֹרlet-him-againוְיָדִיןthinkבִּלְבָבוֹof-himselfשֶׁכְּשֵׁםthat-asשֶׁהוּאhe-isלַמָּשִׁיחַChrist'sכֵּןeven-soגַּם־אֲנַחְנוּalso-weלַמָּשִׁיחַ׃Christ's

   Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

   וְגַםforכִּי־אַרְבֶּהthough-I-should-boastמְעַטsomewhat-moreלְהִתְהַלֵּלto-boastבַּשָּׁלְטָןof-the-authorityאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַן־לָנוּhath-given-usהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordלִבְנוֹתְכֶםfor-your-edificationוְלֹאand-notלְשַׁחֶתְכֶםfor-your-destructionלֹאnotאֵבוֹשׁ׃I-should-be-ashamed

   For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

   לְמַעַןthatאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotאֵרָאֶהI-may-seemכִּמְאַיֵּםas-if-I-would-terrifyאֶתְכֶםyouבָּאִגְּרוֹת׃by-letters

   That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

10. 10

    כְּאָמְרָםfor-say-theyהֵןindeedהָאִגְּרוֹתhis-lettersחֲמוּרוֹתare-weightyוְקָשׁוֹתand-powerfulאֲבָלbutהוּאheבְעַצְמוֹhimselfכְּשֶׁהוּאwhen-he-isכְנֶגְדֵּנוּin-presenceחָלוּשׁweakוְנִיבוֹand-his-speechנִבְזֶה׃contemptible

    For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

11. 11

    יֵדַע־נָאlet...thinkהָאֹמֵרsuch-an-oneכָּזֹאתthisשֶׁכְּמוֹthat-such-asשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּwe-areבַדִּבּוּרin-wordעַל־יְדֵיbyאִגְּרוֹתlettersבִּהְיוֹתֵנוּwhen-we-areרְחוֹקִיםabsentכֵּןsuchגַּם־בְּפֹעַלalso-in-deedאֲנַחְנוּwe-areבִּהְיוֹתֵנוּwhen-we-areקְרוֹבִים׃present

    Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

    כִּיbecauseאַל־נָעֵזwe-dare-notפָּנֵינוּbe-boldלִכְלֹלto-make-of-the-numberאֹתָנוּourselvesעִם־הָאֲנָשִׁיםwith-someהַמְשַׁבְּחִיםthat-commendנַפְשָׁםthemselvesאוֹorלַעֲרֹךְcompareאֹתָנוּourselvesלָהֶםwith-themאָכֵןbutנִבְעֲרוּthey-are-not-wiseמִדַּעַתforהַמֹּדֲדִיםmeasuringאֶת־נַפְשָׁםthemselvesבְּנַפְשָׁםby-themselvesוְעֹרְכִיםand-comparingאֶת־נַפְשָׁםthemselvesלְנַפְשָׁם׃among-themselves

    For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

13. 13

    וַאֲנַחְנוּbut-weלֹאnotנִתְגַּדֵּלwill-boastלִבְלִי־מִדָּהbeyond-measureכִּיbutאִםratherכְּפִיaccording-toמִדַּתthe-measure-ofהַגְּבוּלthe-ruleאֲשֶׁרwhichחָלַקhath-distributedלָנוּto-usהָאֱלֹהִיםGodלְחֹקa-measureלְהַגִּיעַto-reachגַּם־עָדֵיכֶם׃even-unto-you

    But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

14. 14

    כִּיbecauseאֵינֶנּוּwe-are-notכְּמַסִּיגֵיas-those-who-overreachגְבוּלthe-borderכְּאִלּוּas-thoughלֹאnotבָאנוּwe-reachedאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youהֲלֹאforכְבָרalreadyקִדַּמְנוּwe-are-come-as-far-asגַּם־אֶתְכֶםalso-youבִּבְשׂוֹרַתin-the-gospel-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

15. 15

    לֹאnotנִתְגַּדֵּלboastingלִבְלִי־מִדָּהbeyond-measureבִּיגִיעַתof-the-labors-ofאֲחֵרִיםother-menאֲבָלbutיֶשׁ־לָנוּhavingתִקְוָהhopeשֶׁבִּרְבוֹתwhen-is-increasedאֱמוּנַתְכֶםyour-faithאֲנַחְנוּweנְכֻבַּדshall-be-enlargedבָּכֶםby-youכְּפִיaccording-toגְבוּלֵנוּour-ruleעַד־לְמָעְלָה׃abundantly

    Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

16. 16

    כְּדֵי־לְבַשֵּׂרto-preachהַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-gospelגַּם־לְהָלְאָהin-the-regions-beyondמִכֶּםyouוְלֹאand-notלְהִתְהַלֵּלto-boastבְּמַה־שֶּׁמּוּכָןin-things-made-readyכְּבָרalreadyבִּגְבוּלin-the-line-ofאֲחֵרִים׃another-man

    To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

17. 17

    וְהַמִּתְהַלֵּלbut-he-that-gloriethיִתְהַלֵּלlet-him-gloryבָּאָדוֹן׃in-the-Lord

    But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

18. 18

    כִּיbecauseלֹאnotהַמְשַׁבֵּחַhe-that-commendethנַפְשׁוֹhimselfנֶאֱמָןapprovedהוּאisכִּיbutאִםratherאֲשֶׁרwhomיְשַׁבְּחֶנּוּcommendethהָאָדוֹן׃the-Lord

    For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
