1. 1

   אַל־תִּגְעַרrebuke-notבְּזָקֵןan-elderכִּיbutאִם־תַּזְהִירֶנּוּintreat-himכְּאָב־לָךְas-a-fatherוְאֶת־הַצְּעִירִיםand-the-younger-menכְּאַחִים׃as-brothers

   Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;

2. 2

   אֶת־הַזְּקֵנוֹתthe-elder-womenכְּאִמּוֹתas-mothersוְאֶת־הַצְּעִירוֹתand-the-younger-womenכַּאֲחָיוֹתas-sistersבְּכׇל־טׇהֳרָה׃with-all-purity

   The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

   כַּבֵּדhonorאֶת־הָאַלְמָנוֹתthe-widowsאֲשֶׁרwhichבֶּאֱמֶתareאַלְמָנוֹתwidowsהֵנָּה׃indeed

   Honour widows that are widows indeed.

4. 4

   וְכִי־יִהְיוּbut-if-haveלְאַלְמָנָהany-widowבָּנִיםchildrenאוֹ־בְנֵיor-nephewsבָנִיםchildrenהֵםtheyיִלְמְדוּlet-them-learnלָרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstלַעֲשׂוֹתto-doחֶסֶדgraceעִם־בֵּיתָםwith-their-houseוּלְשַׁלֵּםand-to-requiteגְּמוּלrecompenseלַאֲבוֹתָםtheir-parentsכִּיbecauseטוֹבgoodהוּאit-isוְרָצוּיand-acceptableלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃the-God

   But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

   וְהָאַלְמָנָהand-the-widowבֶאֱמֶתin-truthאֲשֶׁרwhichנִשְׁאֲרָהit remainsיְחִידָהsingleתָּשִׂיםsettethבֵּאלֹהִיםin-Godמִבְטַחָהּher-trustוְהִיאand-sheמַתְמֶדֶתcontinuethבִּתְפִלּוֹתin-prayersוּבִתְחִנּוֹתand-in-supplicationsלַיְלָהnightוְיוֹמָם׃and-by day

   Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

   אַךְbutהַמְעֻנָּגָהshe-that-liveth-in-pleasureמֵתָהis-deadהִיאsheבְּחַיֶּיהָ׃in-life-her

   But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

7. 7

   וְזֹאתand-thisתְּצַוֶּהgive-in-chargeלְמַעַןin-order-thatתִּהְיֶינָהthey-may-beבְּלֹא־דֹפִי׃blameless

   And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

8. 8

   וַאֲשֶׁרand-whomלֹאnotיְכַלְכֵּלprovideth-forאֶת־קְרוֹבָיוhis-ownוְעַל־כֻּלָּםand-speciallyאֶת־בְּנֵיthose-ofבֵיתוֹhis-houseכָּפַרhath-deniedבָּאֱמוּנָהthe-faithוְרַעand-worseהוּאhe-isמֵאֲשֶׁרthan-thatאֵינֶנּוּthere-is-notמַאֲמִין׃believing

   But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

9. 9

   אַלְמָנָהa widowאַל־תִּבָּחֵרlet-not-be-chosenזוּלָתִיexceptבַּת־שִׁשִּׁיםdaughter-of-sixtyשָׁנָהyearsוַאֲשֶׁרand-whomהָיְתָהwasאֵשֶׁתthe-wife-ofאִישׁa-manאֶחָד׃one

   Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,

    וְיֶשׁ־לָהּand-there-was-itעֵדוּתtestimony-ofעַל־מַעֲשֶׂיהָupon-work-herהַטּוֹבִיםthe-goodכִּיbecauseגִּדְּלָהgrewבָנִיםchildrenוְהִכְנִיסָהand-lodgedאֹרְחִיםstrangersוְרָחֲצָהand-washingאֶת־רַגְלֵיfeet-ofהַקְּדוֹשִׁיםthe-saintsוְתָמְכָהand-relievedאֶת־הָעֲשׁוּקִיםthe-afflictedוְרָדְפָהand-followedכׇּל־מַעֲשֶׂהall-a-workטוֹב׃good

    Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

11. 11

    אֲבָלbutהָאַלְמָנוֹתthe-widowsהַצְּעִירוֹתthe-youngerאַל־תְּקַבֵּלrefuseכִּיbecauseבְּהַטּוֹתwhen-turn-awayיִצְרָןtheir-lustאֶת־לִבָּןtheir-heartמֵאַחֲרֵי־הַמָּשִׁיחַfrom-after-the-Messiahחשְׁקוֹתthey-desireהֵןtheyלִהְיוֹתto-beלְאִישׁ׃married

    But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;

    וְדִינָןhaving-damnationעֲלֵיהֶןupon-themשֶׁבָּגְדוּbecause-they-have-cast-offבֶּאֱמוּנָתָןin-faith-of-theirהָרִאשׁוֹנָה׃the-first

    Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

13. 13

    וְעוֹדand-againבִּהְיוֹתָןbeingעֲצֵלוֹתidlenessלָמְדוּthey learnלְשׁוֹטֵטto-wander-aboutמִבַּיִתfrom-the-houseלָבָיִתto-the-a houseוְלֹאand-notעֲצֵלוֹתidlenessבִּלְבַדin-aloneאֶלָּאbut-ratherאֲפִלּוּand-withalבּוֹטֹתtattlersוְרֹדְפוֹתand-busybodiesאַחַרafterהַהֶבֶלvanityמְדַבְּרוֹתspeakingאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthat-whichלֹאnotיִתָּכֵן׃they-ought

    And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

14. 14

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeרְצוֹנִיI-willשֶׁהַצְּעִירוֹתthat-the-younger-womenתִּהְיֶינָהmarryלְאִישׁa-husbandלָלֶדֶתbearבָּנִיםchildrenוּלְהַנְהִיגand-guideאֶת־בָּתֵּיהֶןtheir-housesוְלֹאand-notלָתֵתgiveלָאֹיֵבto-the-adversaryמָקוֹםoccasionלְחָרֵף׃to-speak-reproachfully

    I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

15. 15

    כִּי־יֵשׁthat-there-isמֵהֶןof-themשֶׁכְּבָרwho-alreadyסָרוּare-already-turned-asideאַחֲרֵיafterהַשָּׂטָן׃Satan

    For some are already turned aside after Satan.

16. 16

    וְכִיand-thatתִהְיֶינָהshall-there-beאַלְמָנוֹתa-great-many-widowsבְּבֵיתin-the-house-ofמַאֲמִיןbelievingאוֹorמַאֲמִינָהbelieving(f)תֵּעָשֶׂהlet-relieveלָהֶןthemפַּרְנָסָהthemוְלֹאand-notתִהְיֶינָהlet-beלְמַשָׂאchargedעַל־הַקָּהָלthe-churchלְמַעַןin-order-thatיוּכַלit-mayלְהַסְפִּיקrelieveלְאֹתָןthemשֶׁהֵןthat-areאַלְמָנוֹתa-great-many-widowsבֶּאֱמֶת׃in-truth

    If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

17. 17

    הַזְּקֵנִיםthe-eldersהַמֵּיטִיבִיםthat-rule-wellלְנַהֵלlet-be-countedרְאוּיִםworthyהֵםtheyלְמִשְׁנֵהof-doubleכָבוֹדgloryוְעַל־כֻּלָּםand-upon-all-of-themהָעֲמֵלִיםwho-laborבַּדָּבָרin-wordוּבַהוֹרָאָה׃and-doctrine

    Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

18. 18

    כִּי־הַכָּתוּבfor-the-scriptureאֹמֵרsaithלֹא־תַחְסֹםyou-shall-not-muzzleשׁוֹרthe-oxבְּדִישׁוֹthat-treadeth-out-the-cornוְנֶאֱמַרand-it-is-saidרָאוּיworthyהַפֹּעֵלthe-laborerלִשְׂכָרוֹ׃of-his-reward

    For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

19. 19

    אַל־תְּקַבֵּלreceive-notעֵדוּתan-accusationבַּזָּקֵןagainst-an-elderבִּלְתִּיexceptאִם־עַל־פִּיbeforeשְׁנַיִםtwoאוֹ־שְׁלֹשָׁהor-threeעֵדִים׃witnesses

    Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

20. 20

    אֶת־הַחֹטְאִיםthem-that-sinתּוֹכִיחַrebukeבִּפְנֵיbeforeכֹלallלְמַעַןin-order-thatיִירְאוּmay-fearגַּם־הָאֲחֵרִים׃also-others

    Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

21. 21

    הִנְנִיbehold-IמֵעִידI-charge-youבְּךָyouנֶגֶדbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godוַאֲדֹנֵינוּand-lord-ourיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahוְנֶגֶדand-againstהַמַּלְאָכִיםthe-angelsבְּחִירֵי־יָהּthe-electאֲשֶׁר־תִּשְׁמֹרthat-you-observeאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe-wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוְלֹאand-notתִשְׁפֹּטshall-judgeבְּאֵיןin-unחֲקִירָהinvestigationוְלֹא־תַעֲשֶׂהdoingדָבָרnothingבְּמַשּׂאby-respect-ofפָנִים׃persons

    I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

22. 22

    אַל־תְּהִיdo-not-beנִבְהָלhastyלִסְמוֹךְto-layיָדֶיךָyour-handsעַל־אָדָםupon-manוְלֹאand-notתִשְׁתַּתֵּףbe-partakerבְּחַטֹּאתof-the-sins-ofאֲחֵרִיםothersשְׁמֹרkeepאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָyourselfבְּטׇהֳרָה׃pure

    Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

23. 23

    אַל־תִּשְׁתֶּהdrink-no-longerעוֹדany-moreמַיִםwaterהַרְבֵּהmuchאֶלָּאbut-ratherמְעַט־יָיִןsomewhat-wineמִפְּנֵיbecause-ofמֵעֶיךָyour-stomachוּמִפְּנֵיand-because-ofשֶׁפְּעָמִיםyour-oftenהַרְבֶּהinfirmitiesחֹלֶהare-sickאָתָּה׃you

    Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

24. 24

    יֵשׁthereבְּנֵי־אָדָםthe-children-of-menאֲשֶׁר־חַטֹּאתֵיהֶםwhose-their-sinsגְּלוּיוֹתare-open-beforehandוּמַקְדִּימוֹתgoing-beforeלַמִּשְׁפָּטto-the-judgmentוְיֵשׁand-there-wasמֵהֶםof-themאֲשֶׁרwhichהֵנָּהhitherבָּאוֹתcomeאַחֲרֵיהֶם׃after-them

    Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

25. 25

    וְכָכָהand-thusגַּם־הַמַּעֲשִׂיםalso-the-worksהַטּוֹבִיםthe-goodגְּלוּיִםmanifestהֵמָּהtheyוַאֲשֶׁרand-whomלֹא־כֵןotherwiseלֹאnotיוּכְלוּcannotלְהִסָּתֵר׃be-hid

    Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
