   וְהָרוּחַve/Ha/RU/achand the Spiritאֹמֶרֶתo/ME/retsayingמְפֹרָשׁme/fo/RASHclearכִּיkithatבָּעִתִּיםba/it/TIMin the timesהָאַחֲרֹנוֹתha/a/cha/ro/NOTlastיָסוּרוּya/SU/ruwill turn asideאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenמִן־הָאֱמוּנָהmin-ha/e/mu/NAfrom the faithוְשָׂמִיםve/sa/MIMand givingלֵבlevheartאֶל־רוּחוֹתel-ru/CHOTto spiritsמַתְעוֹתmat/OTdeceivingוְאֶל־תּוֹרוֹתve/EL-to/ROTand to the teachings ofשֵׁדִים׃she/DIMdemons

   Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

   דֹּבְרֵיdov/REspeakers ofשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerfalsehoodבַּחֲנֻפָּהba/cha/nup/PAin hypocrisyוְנִכְוֶהve/nikh/VEand searedלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartבְּבַרְזֶל׃be/var/ZELwith iron

   Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

   אֹסְרִיםos/RIMforbiddingהַחֲתֻנָּהha/cha/tun/NAthe weddingוּמְצַוִּיםu/me/tsav/VIMand commandingלְהִנָּזֵרle/hin/na/ZERto abstainמִבָּשָׂרmib/ba/SARfrom meatsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבְּרָאוֹbe/ra/Ohas createdהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְהִלָּקַחle/hil/la/KACHto be receivedבְּתוֹדָהbe/to/DAwith thanksgivingלַמַּאֲמִינִיםlam/ma/a/mi/NIMto those who believeוּלְיֹדְעֵיu/le/yod/Eand who knowהָאֱמֶת׃ha/e/METthe truth

   Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

   כִּיkiforכׇל־בְּרִיַּתkhol-be/riy/YATevery creation ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodטוֹבָהto/VAis goodוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noדָּבָרda/VARthingנִמְאָסnim/ASrejectedאִם־יִלָּקַחim-yil/la/KACHif it is receivedבְּתוֹדָה׃be/to/DAwith thanksgiving

   For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

   כִּיkiforיְקֻדַּשׁye/kud/DASHit is sanctifiedבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוּבִתְפִלָּה׃u/vit/fil/LAand in prayer

   For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

   אִם־תַּזְכִּירim-taz/KIRif you remindאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/lethese thingsלָאַחִיםla/a/CHIMto the brothersמְשָׁרֵתme/sha/RETa ministerטוֹבtovgoodתִּהְיֶהtih/YEyou will beלְיֵשׁוּעַle/Ye/SHU/aof Jesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahמְגֻדָּלme/gud/DALraisedבְּדִבְרֵיbe/div/REon the words ofהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAthe faithוּבַלֶּקַחu/val/LE/kachand the teachingהַטּוֹבhat/TOVgoodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִשַּׂגְתָּ׃his/sag/TAyou have reached

   If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

   אַךְakhbutמְאַסme/ASrejectבְּבַדֵּיbe/vad/DEin fablesחֹלcholprofaneוּזְקֵנוֹתu/ze/ke/NOTand old womenוַחֲנֹךְva/cha/NOKHand trainאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָet-naf/she/KHAyourselfלַחֲסִידוּת׃la/cha/si/DUTfor godliness

   But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8. 8

   כִּיkiforחֲנֹךְcha/NOKHtrainingהַגּוּףhag/GUFthe bodyיוֹעִילyo/ILprofitsמְעָטme/ATa littleאֲבָלa/VALbutהַחֲסִידוּתha/cha/si/DUTgodlinessמוֹעִילָהmo/i/LAis profitableלַכֹּלlak/KOLfor allוְלָהּve/LAand to it isהַבְטָחַתhav/ta/CHATthe promise ofהַחַיִּיםha/chay/YIMthe lifeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעַתָּהat/TAnow isוְהַבָּאִים׃ve/hab/ba/IMand of what is coming

   For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

   נֶאֱמָןne/e/MANfaithfulהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARis the wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְרָאוּיve/ra/UYand worthyלַכֹּלlak/KOLof allלְקַבְּלוֹ׃le/kab/be/LOto receive it

   This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

    כִּיkiforלָזֹאתla/ZOTto thisגַּםgambothעֲמֵלִיםa/me/LIMwe laborאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweוְנֹשְׂאִיםve/nos/IMand bearחֶרְפָּהcher/PAreproachכִּיkibecauseבָטַחְנוּva/tach/NUwe trustבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMin Godחַיִּיםchay/YIMthe livingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuisמוֹשִׁיעַMo/SHI/athe Saviour ofכׇּל־אָדָםkol-a/DAMall menוְיוֹתֵרve/yo/TERand moreהַמַּאֲמִינִים׃ham/ma/a/mi/NIMwho believe

    For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

    אֵלֶּהEL/lethese thingsתְּצַוֶּהte/tsav/VEcommandוּתְלַמֵּד׃u/te/lam/MEDand teach

    These things command and teach.

12. 12

    אַל־יָבוּזal-ya/VUZlet not despiseאִישׁishanyoneאֶת־בְּחוּרוֹתֶיךָet-be/chu/ro/te/KHAyour youthרַקrakonlyהֱיֵהhe/YEbeמוֹפֵתmo/FETan exampleלַמַּאֲמִינִיםlam/ma/a/mi/NIMto those who believeבְּדָבָרbe/da/VARin wordבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin conductבְּחֶסֶדbe/CHE/sedin charityבְּרוּחַbe/RU/achin spiritבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAin faithוּבְטׇהֳרָה׃u/ve/to/ho/RAand in purity

    Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13. 13

    עַד־בּוֹאִיad-bo/Iuntil I comeשְׁקֹדshe/KODbe diligentעַל־הַמִּקְרָאal-ham/mik/RAto the readingעַל־הַמּוּסָרal-ham/mu/SARto the exhortationעַל־הַלֶּקַח׃al-hal/LE/kachof the doctrine

    Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14. 14

    וְאַל־תֵּקַלve/AL-te/KALand let not be lightבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesהַמַּתָּנָהham/mat/ta/NAthe giftאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּךָbe/KHAin youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAwas givenלְךָle/KHAto youבִּנְבוּאָהbin/vu/Aby prophecyבִּסְמִיכַתbis/mi/KHATby the laying on ofיְדֵיye/DEthe hands ofהַזְּקֵנִים׃haz/ze/ke/NIMthe elders

    Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15. 15

    בָּאֵלֶּהba/EL/lein theseהֲגֵהha/GEmeditateוּבָהֶםu/va/HEMand in themהֱיֵהhe/YEbeלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיֵרָאֶהye/ra/Emay be seenיִתְרוֹנְךָyit/ron/KHAyour progressלַכֹּל׃lak/KOLby all

    Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16. 16

    שִׁיתshitsetלִבְּךָlib/be/KHAyour heartלְנַפְשְׁךָle/naf/she/KHAto yourselfוְלַלֶּקַחve/lal/LE/kachand to the teachingוַעֲמֹדva/a/MODand standבָּהֶםba/HEMin themכִּיkiforבַעֲשׂוֹתְךָva/a/sot/KHAin doingזֹאתzotthisגַּםgambothאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָet-naf/she/KHAyourselfתּוֹשִׁיעַto/SHI/ayou will saveוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־הַשֹּׁמְעִיםet-hash/shom/IMthose who hearאֹתְךָ׃ot/KHAyou

    Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
