1. 1

   וְהָרוּחַand-the-Spiritמַגִּידspeakethבְּפֵרוּשׁexpresslyכִּיbecauseבְּאַחֲרִיתin-latterהַיָּמִיםthe-daysיָסוּרוּshall-departמִן־הָאֱמוּנָהfrom-the-faithלִפְנוֹתgiving-heedאֶל־הָרוּחוֹתto-the-spiritsהַמַּתְעוֹתseducingוְאֶל־תּוֹרֹתand-doctrines-ofהַשֵּׁדִים׃devils

   Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

   דֹּבְרֵיspeakingשֶׁקֶרliesבַּחֲנֻפָּהin-hypocrisyוְנִכְוִיםand-searedבְּמַדָּעָם׃in-their-conscience

   Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

   אֹסְרִיםforbiddingלָקַחַתto-marryאִשָּׁהa-wifeוּמֹנְעִיםand-commanding-to-abstainמִמִּינֵיfrom-kinds-ofמַאֲכׇלfoodאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּרָאָםhath-createdהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godשֶׁיֹּאכְלוּםto-be-receivedבְּתוֹדָהwith-thanksgivingהַמַּאֲמִינִיםthe-believersוְיֹדְעֵיand-those-who-knowהָאֱמֶת׃the-truth

   Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

   כִּיbecauseכׇל־בְּרִיַּתevery-creature-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodטוֹבָהgoodוְאֵיןand-nothingדָּבָרthingמְשֻׁקָּץto-be-refusedוּבִלְבַדifשֶׁיֵּאָכֵלit-be-receivedבִּבְרָכָה׃in-blessing

   For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

   כִּיbecauseיְקֻדַּשׁit-is-sanctifiedבִּדְבַרof-the-promise-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוּבִתְפִילָּה׃and-by-prayer

   For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

6. 6

   אִם־תָּשִׂיםif-You-shall-makeכָּזֹאתsuchלִפְנֵיbeforeאַחֶיךָyour-brothersמְשָׁרֵתa-ministerטוֹבgoodתִּהְיֶהshall-beלְיֵשׁוּעַto-Jesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahמְגֻדָּלnourished-upבְּדִבְרֵיwith-the-words-ofהָאֱמוּנָהthe-faithוּבַלֶּקַחand-in-the-learning-ofהַטּוֹבthe-goodאֲשֶׁרwhichדָּבַקְתָּyou-hast-attainedאַחֲרָיו׃after-him

   If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

7. 7

   אַךְbutהִתְרַחֵקrefuseמֵהַגָּדוֹתfablesפְּסוּלוֹתprofaneוּבָלוֹתand-old-wivesוְהַרְגֵּלand-exerciseנַפְשְׁךָyourselfבַּחֲסִידוּת׃in-godliness

   But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8. 8

   כִּיbecauseתִּרְגּוּלexerciseהַגּוּףthe-bodyיוֹעִילprofitsמְעָטa-littleאֲבָלbutהַחֲסִידוּתgodlinessתּוֹעִילis-profitableלְכׇל־דָּבָרunto-all-thingsוְלָהּhavingהַבְטָחַתthe-promise-ofחַיֵּיthe-life-ofהָעוֹלָםthe-worldהַזֶּהthisוְהָעוֹלָםand-the-worldהַבָּא׃that-comes

   For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9. 9

   אֱמֶתtrueהַדָּבָרis-the-sayingהַזֶּהthisוְרָאוּיand-worthyלַכֹּלof-allלְהִתְקַבֵּל׃acceptation

   This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10. 10

    כִּיbecauseלָזֹאתto-thisאֲנַחְנוּweיְגֵעִיםwe-laborוְנֶעֱלָבִיםand-suffer-reproachעַל־אֲשֶׁרupon-whichהוֹחַלְנוּwe-trustלֵאלֹהִיםGodחַיִּיםlivingהַמּוֹשִׁיעַwho-is-the-Saviourלְכׇל־הָאָדָםof-all-menוְעַל־כֻּלָּםand-upon-all-of-themלַמַּאֲמִינִים׃to-the-believing

    For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

11. 11

    זֹאתthisתְּצַוֶּהcommandוּתְלַמֵּד׃and-teach

    These things command and teach.

12. 12

    אַל־יָבוּזlet-no-man-despiseאִישׁa-manאֶת־בְּחוּרוֹתֶיךָyour-youthרַקonlyהֱיֵהbe!מוֹפֵתan-exampleלַמַּאֲמִינִיםto-the-believersבְּדִבּוּרin-wordבְּמַעֲשֶׂהin-conversationבְּאַהֲבָהin-charityבְּרוּחַin-spiritבֶּאֱמוּנָהin-faithוּבְטׇהֳרָה׃in-purity

    Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13. 13

    וֶהְיֵהand-beשָׁקוּדdiligentלִקְרוֹאto-readingוּלְהוֹכִיחַto-exhortationוּלְהוֹרֹתto-doctrineעַד־בֹּאִי׃till-I-come

    Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14. 14

    וְאַל־תֵּקַלneglect-notבְּעֵינֶיךָin-your-eyesמַתְּנַתgift-ofהַחֶסֶדthe-graceאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּךְin-youהַנְּתוּנָהwhich-was-givenלְךָfor-youבִּדְבַרof-the-promise-ofנְבוּאָהa-prophecyוּבִסְמִיכַתand-by-ordination-ofיְדֵיhands-ofהַזְּקֵנִים׃the-elders

    Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15. 15

    לָאֵלֶּהto-suchתָשִׁיתgive-thyself-toלִבְּךָthemוּבָהֶםand-in-themהֱיֵהbe!לְמַעַןin-order-thatתֵּרָאֶהmay-appearהַצְלָחָתְךָyour-profitingלַכֹּל׃to-all

    Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16. 16

    שִׁיתtake-heedלִבְּךָyour-heartלְנַפְשְׁךָunto-thyselfוְלַהוֹרָאָהand-unto-the-doctrineוְהַחֲזֵקand-continueבָּאֵלֶּהin-theseכִּי־בַעֲשׂוֹתְךָbecause-when-do-youכֵןthusגַּםalsoאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָyour-soulתּוֹשִׁיעַyou-shalt-saveוְגַםand-alsoאֶת־נֶפֶשׁthemהַשֹּׁמְעִיםthat-hear-youאֵלֶיךָ׃to-you

    Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
