1. 1

   וְעַתָּהand-nowקֹדֶםbeforeכׇּל־דָּבָרall-thingsאֲבַקְשָׁהI-exhortמִכֶּםyouלָשֵׂאתthat-be-madeתְּפִלּוֹתsupplicationsוְתַחֲנוּנִיםand-prayersוּבַקָּשׁוֹתand-intercessionsוְתוֹדוֹתand-giving-of-thanksבְּעַדthroughכׇּל־בְּנֵיall-the-sons-ofאָדָם׃man

   I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2. 2

   בְּעַדthroughהַמְּלָכִיםthe-kingsוְכׇל־הַשַּׁלִּיטִיםand-all-the-rulersלְמַעַןin-order-thatנִחְיֶהwe-may-leadחַיֵּיthe-life-ofהַשְׁקֵטquietוָבֶטַחand-peaceableבְּכׇל־חֲסִידוּתin-all-godlinessוָישֶׁר׃and-honesty

   For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3. 3

   כִּי־כֵןfor-this-isטוֹבgoodוְרָצוּיand-acceptableבְּעֵינֵיin-the-eyes-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodמוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ׃our-Savior

   For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

   אֲשֶׁרwhichחֶפְצוֹwill-haveכִּיbecauseיִוָּשְׁעוּshould-be-savedכׇּל־בְּנֵיall-the-sons-ofהָאָדָםthe-manוִיקַבְּלוּand-to-comeדַּעַתunto-the-knowledge-ofהָאֱמֶת׃the-truth

   Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

   כִּיbecauseאֶחָדoneהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godוְאֶחָדand-oneהַמְּתַוֵּךְmediatorבֵּיןbetweenאֱלֹהִיםGodוּבֵיןand-betweenבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofאָדָםmanהוּאwho-isבֶן־אָדָםthe-manהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus

   For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

   אֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַןgaveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis-lifeכֹּפֶרa ransomבְּעַדthroughהַכֹּלallוְזֹאתand-thisהָעֵדוּתthe-testimonyהַבָּאָהto-be-testifiedבְּעִתָּהּ׃in-due-time

   Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

   אֲשֶׁרwhichאֲנִיIהָפְקַדְתִּיI-am-ordainedלָהּwhereuntoלְכָרוֹזa-preacherוּלְשָׁלִיחַand-an-apostleאֱמֶתthe-truthאֲנִיIמַגִּידspeakבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-Messiahוְלֹאand-notאֲשַׁקֵּרI-lieמוֹרֵהa-teacher-ofהַגּוֹיִםthe-nationsבֶּאֱמוּנָהin-faithוּבֶאֱמֶת׃and-verity

   Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

   לָכֵןthereforeרְצוֹנִיI-willשֶׁיִּתְפַּלֲלוּthat-prayהָאֲנָשִׁיםmenבְּכׇל־מָקוֹםevery-whereוְיִשְׂאוּand-bearיְדֵיהֶםtheir-handsקֹדֶשׁholyבְּלִי־רֹגֶזwithout-wrathוּמְזִמּוֹת׃and-doubting

   I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

9. 9

   וְכֵןand-soגַּם־הַנָּשִׁיםalso-that-the-womenתִּתְיַפֶּינָהadorn-themselvesבְּתִלְבּשֶׁתin-apparelנָאָהmodestבְּבשֶׁתwith-shamefacednessפָּנִיםof-faceוּצְנִיעוּתand-sobrietyלֹאnotבְּמַחְלְפוֹתwith-broidedהָרֹאשׁhairלֹאnotבְזָהָבin-goldלֹאnotבִפְנִינִיםwith-pearlsוְלֹאand-notבְּמַלְבּוּשִׁיםin-garmentsיְקָרִים׃costly

   In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

    אֶלָּאbut-ratherבְּמַעֲשִׂיםin-good-worksטוֹבִיםgoodכָּרָאוּיwhich-becomethלַנָּשִׁיםwomenאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּחֲרוּthey-choseלָהֶןfor-themיִרְאַתthe-fear-ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

    But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

11. 11

    הָאִשָּׁהthe-womanתִּלְמַדlet-learnדּוּמָםin-silenceבְּכׇל־הַכְנָעָה׃with-all-subjection

    Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12. 12

    וְאֵינֶנִּיand-I-am-notנֹתֵןgiveרְשׁוּתleaveלָאִשָּׁהto-a-womanלְלַמֵּדto-teachאַףnorלֹאnotלְהִתְנַשֵׂאto-usurp-authorityעַל־הָאִישׁupon-the-manאַךְbutתִּדּוֹם׃to-be-in-silence

    But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13. 13

    כִּיbecauseאָדָםmanנוֹצַרwas-first-formedבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstוְאַחֲרָיוthenחַוָּה׃Eve

    For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14. 14

    וְאָדָםand-Adamלֹאnotנִפְתָּהwas-deceivedכִּיbutאִםratherהָאִשָּׁהthe-womanשָׁמְעָהshe-heardלְקוֹלthe-voice-ofהַמֵּסִיתthe-tempterוַתָּבֹאwas-inלִידֵיuntoעֲבֵרָה׃transgression

    And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15. 15

    אֲבָלbutתִּוָּשַׁעshe-shall-be-savedבְּלִדְתָּהּwhen-gave birth-sheבָּנִיםchildrenאִםifתַּעֲמֹדְנָהthey-continueבָּאֱמוּנָהin-the-faithוּבָאַהֲבָהand-in-loveוּבַקְּדֻשָּׁהand-in-the-holinessעִם־הַצְּנִיעוּת׃with-the-modesty

    Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
