   פּוֹלוֹסPaulשְׁלִיחַan-apostle-ofיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahעַל־פִּיaccording-toמִצְוַתthe-commandment-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godמוֹשִׁיעֵנוּour-Saviorוְהָאָדוֹןand-the-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahתִּקְוָתֵנוּ׃our-hope

   Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

   אֶל־טִימוֹתִיּוֹסto-Timothyבְּנוֹmy-sonהָאֲמִתִּיthe-trueבָּאֱמוּנָהin-the-faithחֶסֶדgraceוְרַחֲמִיםand-compassionוְשָׁלוֹםand-peaceמֵאֵתfromאֱלֹהִיםGodאָבִינוּour-fatherוְהַמָּשִׁיחַand-the-MessiahיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲדֹנֵינוּ׃our-Lord

   Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

   הִנֵּהbeholdבְּלֶכְתִּיas-I-wentלְמַקְדּוֹנְיָאto-MacedoniaבִּקַּשְׁתִּיI-besoughtמִמְּךָfrom-youלָשֶׁבֶתto-dwellבְּאֶפְסוֹסin-Ephesusלְמַעַןin-order-thatתְּצַוֶּהyou-might-chargeמִקְצָתthat-someאֲנָשִׁיםmenלְבִלְתִּיto-notהוֹרֹתto-teachתּוֹרָהdoctrineזָרָה׃other

   As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

   וְלֹאand-notיָשִׂימוּgiveלִבָּםheedלְהַגָּדוֹתto-fablesוּלְלִמּוּדֵיand-toתוֹלָדוֹתgenealogiesשֶׁאֵין־לָהֶםwhich-have-noסוֹףendהַמְבִיאִיםwhich-ministerלִשְׁאֵלוֹתquestionsוְלֹאand-notלִבְנוֹתto-edifyingבֵּית־אֱלֹהִיםhouse-of-Godבָּאֱמוּנָה׃in-the-faith

   Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

   כִּי־תַכְלִיתnow-the-end-ofהַמִּצְוָהthe-commandmentהִיאsheהָאַהֲבָהthe-loveבְּלֵבwith-heartטָהוֹרpureוּבְדַעַתand-with-knowledgeנְקִיָּהclean(f)וּבֶאֱמוּנָהand-in-faithלֹא־צְבוּעָה׃unfeigned

   Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

6. 6

   יֵשׁthereאֲשֶׁרwhichתָּעוּhaving-swervedמִּדַּרְכָּהּfrom-whichוַיִּפְנוּhave-turned-asideאַחֲרֵיafterלִמּוּדֵיtaught-ofהָבֶל׃vanity

   From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

7. 7

   חֲפֵצִיםwillingלִהְיוֹתto-beמוֹרֵיteachers-ofתוֹרָהof-the-law;וְאֵינָםand-they-do-notיֹדְעִיםknowingמָהwhatהֵםtheyאֹמְרִיםthey-sayוּמָהand-whatהֵםtheyדָּנִיםthey-affirmעָלָיו׃confidently

   Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

   אֲבָלbutיָדַעְנוּwe-knowכִּיbecauseהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawטוֹבָהgoodאִם־יִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁif-a-man-useבָּהּitהָאָדָםthe-manכַּתּוֹרָה׃lawfully

   But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

   בְּדַעְתּוֹknowingזֹאתthisשֶׁהַחֹקthat-the-lawלֹאnotהוּשַׂםis-madeלַצַּדִּיקunto-the-righteousכִּיbutאִםratherבַּעֲבוּרbecause-ofהַפּשְׁעִיםthe-transgressionsוְהַמֹּרְדִיםand-disobedientהָרְשָׁעִיםthe-ungodlyוְהַחַטָּאִיםand-sinnersטְמֵאִיםunholyוּנְבָלִיםand-profaneמַכֵּי־אָבmurderers-of-fathersוּמַכֵּי־אֵםand-murderers-of-mothersוּמְרַצְּחִים׃and-manslayers

   Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

10. 10

    וְזֹנִיםfor-whoremongersוְשֹׁכְבִיםand-them-that-defile-themselvesאֶת־זָכָרwith-mankindוְגֹנְבֵיand-stealers-ofנֶפֶשׁmenוְשַׁקְרָנִיםand-liarsוְנִשְׁבָּעִיםand-them-that-swearלַשָּׁקֶרfalselyוְכׇל־מַעֲשֶׂהand-any-other-thingהֶפֶךְcontraryמִן־הַלֶּקַחto-the-doctrineהַבָּרִיא׃the-sound

    For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

11. 11

    כְּפִיaccording-toבְשׂוֹרַתtidings-ofכְּבוֹדthe-glory-ofהַאֵלof-Godהַמְבֹרָךְthe-blessedאֲשֶׁרwhichהִפְקִידwas-committedבְּיָדִי׃to-my-trust

    According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12. 12

    וְהִנְנִיand-IמוֹדֶהI-thankלְיֵשׁוּעַto-Jesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahאֲדֹנֵינוּour-Lordהַמְאַזְּרֵנִיwho-hath-strengthenedחָיִלmeאֲשֶׁרfor-thatרָאַנִיhe-counted-meנֶאֱמָןfaithfulוַיְשִׂימֵנִיputting-meלִמְשָׁרֵתinto-the-ministryלוֹ׃him

    And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

13. 13

    אֲשֶׁרwhichמִלְּפָנִיםfrom-beforeהָיִיתִיI-wasמְגַדֵּףa-blasphemerוּמְרַדֵּףand-a-persecutorוּמְחָרֵףand-injuriousאֲבָלbutרֻחַמְתִּיI-obtained-mercyכִּיbecauseעָשִׂיתִיI-did-itמִבְּלִי־דַעַתignorantlyבְּאֵיןin-unאֱמוּנָה׃faith

    Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

14. 14

    וַיִּגְדַּלand-was-exceeding-abundantעָלַיupon-meבִּמְאֹדwith-exceedingמְאֹדexceedinglyחֶסֶדgraceאֲדֹנֵינוּour-Lordעִם־הָאֱמוּנָהwith-the-faithוְהָאַהֲבָהand-the-loveבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-Messiahיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus

    And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

15. 15

    נֶאֱמָןfaithfulהַדָּבָרis-the-sayingוְרָאוּיand-worthyלַכֹּלof-allלְהִתְקַבֵּלacceptationשֶׁהַמָּשִׁיחַthat-the-MessiahיֵשׁוּעַJesusבָּאcameלָעוֹלָםinto-the-worldלְהוֹשִׁיעַto-saveאֶת־הַחַטָּאִיםthe-sinnersאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIהַגָּדוֹלthe-chiefבָּהֶם׃in-them

    This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

16. 16

    וּבַעֲבוּרand-becauseזֹאתthisרֻחַמְתִּיI-obtained-mercyלְמַעַןin-order-thatאֲשֶׁרwhichיַרְאֶהmight-shewיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahבִּיin-meבָרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstאֶת־כׇּל־אֹרֶךְall-longsufferingרוּחוֹof-his-spiritלִהְיוֹתִיto-being-Iלְאוֹתfor-a-patternלְכֹלto-allאֲשֶׁר־יָבֹאוּwhose-comeלְהַאֲמִיןto-believeבּוֹin-himלִהְיוֹתto-beלָהֶםto-themחַיֵּיthe-life-ofעוֹלָם׃eternal

    Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

17. 17

    וּמֶלֶךְnow-unto-the-Kingעוֹלָמִיםeternalהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godהַקַּיָּםimmortalלָעַדforeverוְהַנֶּעְלָםand-the-invisibleמֵעַיִןfrom-eyeוְהֶחָכָםand-wiseלְבַדּוֹaloneלוֹbeהַכָּבוֹדhonorוְהֶהָדָרand-gloryלְעוֹלְמֵיforeverעוֹלָמִיםeverlastingאָמֵן׃amen

    Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

18. 18

    אֶת־הַמִּצְוָהthe-commandmentהַזֹּאתthisאֲנִיIמְצַוְּךָI-commit-unto-youבְּנִיmy-sonטִימוֹתִיּוֹסTimothyכְּפִיaccording-toהַנְּבוּאוֹתthe-prophesyingsהַקֹּדְמוֹתwhich-went-beforeעָלֶיךָon-youאֲשֶׁרthatתִּלָּחֵםyou-might-warעַל־יָדָןby-themהַמִּלְחָמָהthe-battleהַטּוֹבָה׃the-good

    This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

19. 19

    לֶאֱחֹזholdingבָּאֱמוּנָהin-the-faithוּבְדַעַתand-with-knowledgeנְקִיָּהclean(f)אֲשֶׁר־יֵשׁwhich-there-isמֹאֲסִיםhaving-put-awayבָּהּwhichוַתִּשָּׁבֵרhave-made-shipwreckאֳנִיַּתofאֱמוּנָתָם׃their-faith

    Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

20. 20

    וּמֵהֶםand-some of-themהוּמְנִיּוֹסHymenaeusוַאֲלֶכְסַנְדְּרוֹסand-AlexanderאֲשֶׁרwhichמְסַרְתִּיםI-have-deliveredלַשָׂטָןunto-Satanלְמַעַןin-order-thatיִוָּסְרוּthey-may-learnלְבִלְתִּיnotגַדֵּףto-blasphemeעוֹד׃any-more

    Of whom is Hymenæus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
