1. 1

   וְעַל־דְּבַרand-upon-the-word-ofהָעִתִּיםthe-timesוְהַזְּמַנִּיםand-the-seasonsאֵין־צֹרֶךְthere-is-no-needלִכְתֹּבto-writeאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youאֶחָי׃brothers-my

   But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2. 2

   הֲלֹאdo-notאַף־אַתֶּםyea-you-areיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowהֵיטֵבperfectlyכִּיbecauseיוֹם־יְהוָֹהthe-day-of-the-LORDכַּגַּנָּבlike-the-thiefבַּלַּיְלָהin-the-nightכֵּןthusיָבוֹא׃shall-come

   For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

   כִּיbecauseבְאָמְרָםwhen-they-shall-sayשָׁלוֹםpeaceוְשַׁלְוָהand-quietnessיָבֹאshall-comeעֲלֵיהֶםupon-themהַשֶּׁבֶרthe-destructionפִּתְאֹםsuddenlyכְּחֶבְלֵיas-pains-ofיוֹלֵדָהa-woman-with-childוְלֹאand-notיוּכְלוּthey-shallהִמָּלֵט׃escape

   For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

   אֲבָלbutאַתֶּםyou-areאַחַיmy-brothersלֹאnotבַּחֹשֶׁךְin-the-darknessאַתֶּםyou-areשֶׁיַּשִׂיגthat-he-shall-overtakeאֶתְכֶםyouהַיּוֹםthat-dayכַּגַּנָּב׃like-the-thief

   But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

   אַתֶּםyou-areכֻּלְּכֶםall-youבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofהָאוֹרthe-lightוּבְנֵיand-sons-ofהַיּוֹםthe-dayלֹאnotבְנֵי־הַלַּיְלָהsons-of-the-nightאֲנַחְנוּweוְלֹאand-notבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofהַחֹשֶׁךְ׃the-darkness

   Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

   לָכֵןthereforeאַל־נָאlet-us-notנֵרָדֵםsleepכְּמוֹas-doהָאֲחֵרִיםothersכִּיbecauseאִם־נִשְׁקֹדbut-let-us-watchוְנִהְיֶהand-let-us-beמְפֻכָּחִים׃sober

   Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

   כִּיbecauseהַנִּרְדָּמִיםthey-that-sleepנִרְדָּמִיםsleepבַּלָּיְלָהin-the-nightוְהַמִּשְׁתַּכְּרִיםand-they-that-be-drunkenמִשְׁתַּכְּרִיםare-drunkenבַּלָּיְלָה׃by-the-night

   For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

   וַאֲנַחְנוּand-we-areבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofהַיּוֹםthe-dayנִתְּפַּכֵּחַ־נָּאlet-us-be-soberוְנִלְבַּשׁputting-onאֶת־שִׁרְיוֹןthe-breastplate-ofהָאֱמוּנָהthe-faithוְהָאַהֲבָהand-the-loveוְכַכּוֹבַעand-for-a-helmetאֶת־תִּקְוַתthe-hope-ofהַיְשׁוּעָה׃the-salvation

   But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

   יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יְעָדָנוּhath-not-appointed-usהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godלְחָרוֹןto-wrathכִּיbecauseלָרֶשֶׁתto-obtainאֶת־הַיְשׁוּעָהthe-salvationעַל־יְדֵיby-means-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּour-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

   For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10. 10

    אֲשֶׁרwhichמֵתdiedבַּעֲדֵנוּfor-usלְמַעַןin-order-thatנִחְיֶהwe-liveעִמּוֹwith-himיָחַדtogetherאִם־נִשְׁקֹדwhether-we-wakeוְאִם־נִישָׁן׃and-whether-we-sleep

    Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11. 11

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeנַחֲמוּcomfortזֶהoneאֶת־זֶהanotherוּבְנוּand-edifyאִישׁa-manאֶת־אָחִיוone-anotherכַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asעֲשִׂיתֶם׃you-have-done

    Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12. 12

    וְהִנְנוּand-behold-usמְבַקְשִׁיםbeseechמִכֶּםfrom-youאַחַיmy-brothersלְהַכִּירto-knowאֶת־הָעֲמֵלִיםthem-which-laborבָּכֶםin-youוְאֵתandהַנִּצָּבִיםare-over-youעֲלֵיכֶםover-youבִּדְבַרinהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordוּמוֹכִיחִיםand-admonishאֶתְכֶם׃you

    And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13. 13

    וְתִנְהֲגוּ־בָםand-to-esteem-themכָּבוֹדgloriousגָּדוֹלgreatמְאֹדexceedinglyבְּאַהֲבָהin-loveלְמַעַןin-order-thatפְּעֻלָּתָםtheir-works-sakeוִיהִיand-be-atשָׁלוֹםpeaceבֵּינֵיכֶם׃among-you

    And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14. 14

    וְהִנְנוּand-behold-usמַזְהִירִיםexhortingאֶתְכֶםyouאֶחָיbrothers-myהוֹכִיחוּwarnאֶת־הַמְעַקְּשִׁיםthe-unrulyדַּרְכֵיהֶםtheir-waysאַמְּצוּcomfortאֶת־רַכֵּיare-tender-ofהַלֵּבָבthe-heartתִּמְכוּsupportאֶת־הַחַלָּשִׁיםthe-weakוְהַאֲרִיכוּand-be-patientרוּחַin-spiritאֶל־כׇּל־אָדָם׃to-all-man

    Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15. 15

    וּרְאוּand-seeפֶּן־יְשַׁלֵּםthat-none-renderאִישׁa-manלְרֵעֵהוּunto-anyרָעָהevilתַּחַתforרָעָהevilכִּיbecauseאִם־רִדְפוּbut-ever-followבְּכׇל־עֵתalwayאֶת־הַטּוֹבthat-which-is-goodהֵןyeaלְאִישׁfor-a-manאִישׁa-manמִכֶּםfrom-youהֵןyeaלְכׇל־אָדָם׃unto-all-men

    See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16. 16

    שִׂמְחוּrejoiceבְּכׇל־עֵת׃with-all-time

    Rejoice evermore.

17. 17

    הִתְפַּלְּלוּpray!כׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃without-ceasing

    Pray without ceasing.

18. 18

    הוֹדוּgive-thanksעַל־הַכֹּלin-every-thingכִּי־זֶהthat-thisרְצוֹןthe-will-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-MessiahיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲלֵיכֶם׃concerning-you

    In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19. 19

    אֶת־הָרוּחַthe-Spiritלֹאnotתְּכַבּוּ׃quench

    Quench not the Spirit.

20. 20

    אֶת־הַנְּבוּאוֹתprophesyingsלֹאnotתִמְאָסוּ׃despise

    Despise not prophesyings.

21. 21

    בַּחֲנוּproveכׇּל־דָּבָרall-thingsוּבַטּוֹבand-the-goodאֱחֹזוּ׃hold-fast

    Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22. 22

    הִתְרַחֲקוּabstainמִכׇּל־הַדּוֹמֶהfrom-all-appearanceלָרָע׃of-evil

    Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23. 23

    וֵאלֹהֵיand-God-ofהַשָּׁלוֹםthe-peaceהוּאheיְקַדֵּשׁsanctifyאֶתְכֶםyouבִּקְדֻשָּׁהin-holinessשְׁלֵמָהwhollyוְכׇל־רוּחֲכֶםand-your-whole-spiritוְנַפְשְׁכֶםand-soulוְגוּפְכֶםand-your-bodyיִשָּׁמֵרbe-preservedתָּמִיםblamelessבְּבוֹאunto-the-coming-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּour-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24. 24

    נֶאֱמָןfaithfulהוּאheהַקּוֹרֵאhe-that-callethאֶתְכֶםyouאֲשֶׁרwhichגַּם־יַעֲשֶׂה׃who-also-will-do-it

    Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

25. 25

    אַחַיmy-brothersהִתְפַּלֲלוּpray!בַעֲדֵנוּ׃for-us

    Brethren, pray for us.

26. 26

    שַׁאֲלוּsaluteלִשְׁלוֹםfor-the-welfare-ofכׇּל־הָאַחִיםall-the-brethrenבַּנְּשִׁיקָהin-the-kissהַקְּדוֹשָׁה׃the-holy

    Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

27. 27

    הִנְנִיbehold-IמַשְׁבִּיעֲכֶםI-charge-youבָּאָדוֹןin-the-Lordאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּקָּרֵאbe-readהָאִגֶּרֶתthe-epistleהַזֹּאתthisבְּאׇזְנֵיin-the-ears-ofכׇּל־הָאַחִיםall-the-brethrenהַקְּדוֹשִׁים׃the-holy

    I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28. 28

    חֶסֶדgraceיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahאֲדֹנֵינוּour-Lordעִמָּכֶםwith-youאָמֵן׃amen

    The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
